OMGoodness ladies, we almost fell off the front page. Where have you all been?

Curly-I'm sorry you are having such a hard time with your scale. I understand menopause really plays a number on your weight loss efforts. Keep the faith.

We had an interesting discussion today on the Protein Power board about whether people get whacked when they don't eat because they are hypoglycemic or because they are ketotic. Interesting question because I don't know that there is really any way to tell. Both things happen when you don't eat and both things make people act weird.

It has gotten ridiculously cold here. Down in the single digits at night and only in the 20's during the day so all the snow isn't going anywhere. I also forgot to mention that Kobe was sick over the weekend and that added to my stress. Thank goodness for steam cleaners. He seems better now.

Where did Teri disappear to again. She was on a roll? Maybe she is busy with finals.

Hi Everyone!

I'm having a good day here. I had a tutoring appointment. We had a Zone recipie for dinner (curry chicken with peas & red pepper) Yum! I did 3 mile WATP this morning :carrot:

Curly I'm sorry you've been stuck to long. That scale has to move soon!

Dee I hope you're feeling better!

Petra that is interesting about hypoglycemic or ketotic. I waited to long to eat today and started feeling really bad. I know I have to eat every few hours here.

I hope everyone else is doing well today! Keep up all the good work!

Hi PIC's,

Thanks to you who asked, I'm feeling much better... I"m still not breathing 100%, but at least I CAN breathe lol... I drove into SantaRosa today and got a haircut. THis may sound weird but it's the 1st time I've done that alone since I moved here 4 years ago!!!! I can't wait to do it again lmao. It's scary cuz I've gotten so used to no traffic, that even small city traffic is intimidating. I have to drive 60 miles before I even come to a stop light around here! Plus I'm not used to the size of my new vehicle in traffic yet either lol... Anyways, I didn't even eat til like 2:30 this afternoon. I think I'm glad I was alone or I probably would have bitten off someones head ;) Tomorrow is weigh in, and I'm not looking forward to it. I don't think my choices this week have been AWFUL, but they have seen better days. And I haven't exercised at all, and my water has been off. We'll see :dizzy:

AngelEyes~ I'm using Spring Tree sugarfree syrup... i was mistaken about the carbs tho... 1/4C has 12 but technically only 1 net carb. it's 30 cal too. And it's yummmmmy ;)

Curly~ You can ride it out. You've done it before and you know that durn scale will move in the right direction again. And remember how great it felt!?!?!?! I'm sending all my rootin' vibes your way. :cheer:

Petra~ Glad you made it thru that on call weekend again. I hate being on call  Eating regular can be difficult but it really is important. We all skip sometimes tho I guess.... I hope Kobe is doing better. Sick animals are no fun at all. Keep warm and drive safe out there

Val~ You are the WATP feind!!! I still can't get past the 1 mile walk. Not that I get too tired, becuz I really love the longer ones, but my hips hurt so bad half way through I have to stop :( But YOU!!!! You GO Girl! :carrot: :carrot: :carrot:

Next post I will be way more positive, I promise. No whining, no aches, no pains. :grouphug:

hiiii it's me again ;)

Hey! Have you guys been craving the eggnog only to look at the cals, carbs and sugars and put it back on the shelf? Even the lite stuff is bad. Well I have been, and feeling very deprived lol. :?:
OK, I'm a cooking magazine junkie (and haven't even tried to tackle that one yet lol.) I just got my latest in the mail today and found a recipe for an easy faux eggnog that I have tweaked to make it way lower cal, no sugar!

1/2 gal cold milk (I used 1%)
1 pkg (3.4 oz) instant french van pudding mix (I had SF Vanilla)
1/2c Sugar (Use Splenda ;) )
2t vanilla
1/2t ground nutmeg
1/2t ground cinnamon

Whisk 3/4C milk w/pudding mix until smooth, whisk in Splenda, vanilla, cinnamon & nutmeg. Stir in the remaining milk. Refrigerate until good and cold.
:santa: :coolsnow: :elf: YUMMMMMMMM :xcheer: :clause: :newyear:

Petra~ It may work with carb countdown, but when I tried to make instant pudding with it, it didn't work real well. If you try it, let me know k?

That graphic is cute Dee! Did you make it? I like your avator also :) :carrot:

iwmonn 12-14-2005 04:22 PM

lol thanks val. No I didn't make it. I def don't have the patience to do something like that. I found it years ago somewhere and I just 'tweaked' it for the birthday girl ;)

So today is a great day.

OK so it was a great day till just this minute when I freakin' burned my puffs!! :tantrum: 2 full trays of them. I will NEVER get used to gas cooking. Sooooo... maybe I'll just start over and make them at work in the next couple days :)

Anyways, it's gorgeous out, tho ya know maybe a little snow would make it feel more like Christmastime.... I guess i hafta get dressed here pretty soon lol. I love lounging all day in my jammies on my "Sunday" hehehee... and YUMMMMM I've been enjoying that eggnog today!!! TTYL :grouphug:

the egg nog receipe sounds yummy.. i typed it up and made copies to take to my workout place and everyone wanted a copy! lol

well i have a new receipe>>> I went to the store after working out and bought all the stuff to make it... then by the time i stopped by my mom's and let her dog out for a potty break it was 6:40 pm...

my 21 day challenge is to monitor every morsel of food that goes in and NOT TO EAT AFTER 7 pm..

so i will have to wait until tomorrow to give it a try:

South Beach Taco Bake

1 lb ground beef (lean)
1 pkg taco seasoning... low sodium
1 Jar Pace salsa ( it is sugar free)
2-3 cups fat free cheddar cheese
3 whole wheat tortilla shells

Brown meat and drain... add taco seasoning and mix well
add salsa and mix again

spray the bottom of a 9" pie plate with cooking spray and lay 1 shell in it
top with 1/2 cup cheese & 1/2 cup meat

top with 1/2 cup cheese and another shell

top this with another 1/2 cup of cheese and the rest of the meat

add another 1/2 cup cheese and the last shell

top with the last 1/2 cup of cheese and cover with foil

bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes

uncover and bake for 5 more minutes

let sit then slice.. serve with fat free sour cream

petra65 12-14-2005 09:20 PM

Thanks for all the birthday wishes everyone. Very long day. Had my second personal training session at the gym and my limbs felt like jelly when I left which is how I think they were supposed to feel. Gotten a bunch of phone calls tonight and a few cards in the mail today--the usual stuff. Time to get to bed. We're expecting more snow tomorrow--won't that be fun!! NOT!

curlylocks 12-14-2005 10:59 PM

hmm very interesting>>> think u have mentioned this name b4 petra... "Schwarzbein Principle" she says when u are entering menopause, your body fights to hold onto the fat for the estrogen... hmmm
