My little girl starts t-ball tommorrow night so maybe that will help me to get active outside of this house. I think that's the easiest way and something you can stick with for a lifetime rather than a temporary fix. Although I do use light versions of some ingredients when I cook, even if I make the full fat version, I generally manage to stay in my calorie range by actually paying attention to what I eat.
One tool that has really helped me is FitDay PC. I journal my food before dinner so I have an idea of how much I can eat. Nine times out of ten, it's actually more than I thought. I also use a measuring cup to scoop out my servings rather than eyeballing and estimating. I think my eyes lose perspective when they see the plate of fettucini alfredo.
