I'm going to wait to start my challenge until Monday. I'm going to do an exercise challenge and not the water. As much as my body needs that water, I just can't seem to get it down right now.
I like to peek in here once in awhile and see what's going on. You all encourage each other so much... it's nice to see.
Anyway, I had to comment about what can be counted as water.... a nutrionist on Oprah once said.. "If you wouldn't rinse your hair in it, don't count it as water." Not saying that I totally agree, but it gives us something to think about, lol. I think whatever works for the individual is what she should do.
While working out on the patio..I made sure I moved in such a way that I made it a work out. I did lunges in between my moving around, making my neighbors, who are working on a roof next door, look at me like I must be the nut on the block!
So I'm starting out good. I plan on doing some crunches tonight when it gets cooler out.
Hi! I think I finished day 5. I've been going strong...it just doesn't seem like ite been 5 days. I'm moved into my new apartment! its very exciting and I'm getting plenty of exercise moving and rearranging!
Day 6 - complete
I baked some oatmeal/whole wheat bread yesterday - talk about great fiber! Very filling, too.
Marti - When I can't get out to walk, I work in the yard - to me that counts as exercise. I do lots of squats, instead of bending over.....I bet your patio looks great.
Scuzin- glad the move is going well. It will be so nice to be settled this early.
Looks like we are all doing well on our challenges...big pats on the back all around

I worked in my yard today (I count that too) then later I helped my grandpa move my shed--that was a task and boy did I smell rotten afterwards!! Nothing like sweatin up a storm in the middle of the day with the sun beating on your head!! Just baking the smell into your skin!!
Ok...enough of the details, I think I just repulsed myself here!
Scuzin--Congrats on getting into your first apartment. How are you liking it? Does the complex have a workout area? That would be cool. Keep up the good work!!
RosieKate--Why don't you send over some of that bread!! Sounds so good!! I love breads that have grains and oats....so much better for you too. Can't go back to just plain white bread after that!
Marti - We are trying out a new book called, The Laurel's Kitchen Bread book. It's all bread with whole grains. I'm trying the basic whole wheat bread next. The kids are big bread lovers, so we are trying to make it as healthy as possible. They are pretty picky eaters, sigh. If you are not into kneading bread, The book has a section for bread machines.
Scuzin - congrats on sticking to your challenge
We are all doing great, I think!

Hello! Another day done
I'm loving the new place even though it gets boring durring the day with no TV or internet. It does have a small work out area (that I have yet to check out). And its becoming more and more aparent that unless its pasta, from a box, or an explicetly detailed recipe, I can't cook! ...well...I do ok...ish...If someone knows a good, simple, small portion cook book let me know!
I got my third day done. I spent part of my afternoon doing some squats..then afterwards I had to stretch my legs out....I don't know which was worse...the squats or the stretches!! My legs ache now, so I can only imagine how they'll feel tomorrow!! Now, if I keep this up....my legs will get used to all this!!
Scuzin--I don't know of any cookbooks off hand that are for small portions...but I know that there are some out there, something like "Cooking for two" that would be a good start. I'll keep my eye out for you.
RosieKate--I'm not much a baker or cook...but that bread sounds good. I will have to tell James about it...he's the man who likes to make things...especially baking!! He makes the best pie...and cheese rolls!!! (no wonder I'm fat!!)
Keep up the good work ladies...I will check in tomorrow
Marti - David likes to barbecue and he also bakes great cookies. I hardly ever let him do it....just too hard to have all that in the house. He's shown some interest inthe bread baking....so maybe that could get the baking ya yas out of his system.
Scuzin- I would recommend learning a few cooking skills as they will save you $$. I blew through alot of $ in college because I couldn't cook. Now I cook all the time, making many things from scratch and it's not all that hard. I taught myself from reading Better Homes and Gardens cookbook. If you have a freezer, you can make some dishes and freeze the remains in gladware, then you can microwave later. I also find it is easier to stick to a healthy food plan if I cook at home, as opposed to buying readymade meals or going out. Just my .02$, mind you!
Here I thought I would do some leg workouts..but today I went over to my grandpa's to visit....I ended up unloading and stacking wood!! My goodness let me tell you....I couldn't see after awhile with all the sweat in my eyes!!
But my arms ache. My timing was bad to visit got a good workout though. I would have helped him no matter what...worries me to see an 84yr old man working that hard in the summer!
...only because I had flex points to burn, thank goodness. We are going to be getting good workouts, though. In order to build our tree fort, DH and I need to dig out a 6x8 space to lay down pavers for the foundation. There will be lots o' digging...I'm glad of it as it's been hard with DH's schedule and the heat to get walks in.
Have a great day
