COme and do my house work Meg, some one needs to and I can't find the motivation.
Have been shopping with two friends today, but I was the only one to buy anything, typical. Walked a lot and had a healthy lunch, so was quite good, tonights weigh in will tell though.
Meg..WOW..Hunter Green is such a bold colour..do you have a big kitchen? it will shrink it dramatically. My living room carpet is Hunter Green and it does make a big difference. l remember when it was laid it even made the paintwork look a different colour..but i like it so thats OK.
What did you buy Carol? Anything for yourself? l'm not fit to be let out because i always come back with something for myself and i've even been known to come back with something in a smaller size so i can "shrink" into it what a nut!!
l'll have been back a week tomorrow and hubby and i can't shake these coughs..i keep looking at the SARS leaflet that we were given on the plane to compare symptoms a bit of paranoia is setting in i think
Not got into an exercise regime yet..still in lazy mode. BBL
Hope everyone is enjoying our lovely fall weather.. I sure am. Feels so good to be out and about. The only time my back bothers me is when I am doing anything that involves bending... like housework but it is still improving so that should be better soon... and I am doing lots of housework, just not the bending part.. unless I am realllllly careful.. can't have a relapse now... I am getting anxious to go to Calif.... in approx. 3 weeks. I am pinpointing hubby down to a date this evening....I need to know, and the people we are visiting need to know also... they are taking time off work to visit with us.. we need to be considerate and let them know... those are my reasons I will be giving for him to pick a date to work toward as our departure date.
Meg, hunter green in your kitchen sounds cool. When we moved into this house all the rooms were either a sick maroon or a drabby green, I hated it... but nowadays the greens are so vivid, and I am getting to like them more and more. Just incorporating a little country green into my deep pink bedroom.. the walls are now a pale pink, having them painted a dark pink with a faux finish of a lighter shade and a few dabs of the green mixed in.. only on 2 of the walls. It will be pretty. I am tired of solid walls or paneling everywhere..all this watching of HGTV has me getting more adventurous with color.
We went to an auction yesterday, I got a (brand new) comforter with dust ruffle, and sheet set. The colors are yellow with green, pink, lavender and blue... the exact colors I painted a wooden chair for the room.. ds's gf calls it the Candyland room.. I am doing it as a bedroom for my granddaughter(s) when they stay over... across the hall the blue room will be for the grandsons. Its fun to have a theme..my room will have a pansy theme.. I love pansies and have some neat accessories for it...the personality as they call it on Room by Room.
Carol, stop reading about SAR or you will imagine you have all the symptoms... it will cause you more stress and you will hang on to your cold longer... however, if you are seriously concerned see a doctor, we don't want you to be ill.
Went to lunch today with my sister, probably will be last time I see her till next summer. They go to Florida for 6 months.
Ordered an aerial view of our business this morning.. wow,, the prices... any of you ever get one of those? Of course he starts out with the most expensive ones.. the huge wall size with lighted backgrounds... of course they are gorgeous... like you were flying overhead on a very bright sunnyday... BUT 4 grand for a photo..... I don't think so..
Well I've rambled on long enough. My eating has been good.
If I can keep this up.. I may make it into onederland by Christmas....too.
Taking a break from cleaning- have broken a sweat so it counts for a workout right?! It'd better. I'm so tired of picking up toys and pieces of toys that I've hidden quite a bit of stuff. Betcha they won't even miss it! I don't know how we've accumulated so much stuff over that past 5 years of having kids! And...seems that only a couple things are favorites and the rest just get spread out to give me grief. I keep bugging DH to build me shelves- at least if they are off the ground and the boys can't reach them- it won't be a mess for MOM!
Anyway- my eating has been great today and I'm set to be 100% OP! And I already have dinner set for the oven! (I am *never* that organized!) I had a million cherry tomatoes to use so last night I made a veggie lasagna sauce-- pureed them up and added some canned tomatoes as well as shredded zuccini I had in my freezer, shredded carrot, onion, green pepperm, lots of garlic and of course italian seasoning. Now to see if the kids will eat it. I omitted mushrooms- even though I love them- because I knew I couldn't diguise that. Oh the sacrifices Now I've got another million tomatoes to can or freeze. Gives me a headache now, but I know in the winter I will love to have them for soups, chili, spag. sauce etc.
Meg- I think your kitchen sounds cool. I love dark colors and imo if the room is small it's small light or dark. It's so important to love the rooms you live in . My kitchen is a sqaush color and I have dark cranberry cupboards and tri-checked floor with the cranberry, squash and cream. I based the colors on a border I bought first- squares of different veggies with the red, sage green and dk. yellow. My roman blinds are the sage green. Colorful, but I think it's really fun.
Carol- whoo-hoo "oNeDeRlaNd" here you come!!
Cat- get well soon!!
Dahlia- those rooms you are doing sound so fun!! What a great g-ma you are to do that for the kids!
hey to everyone else and hope you are enjoying an OP Monday!
Dahlia..those aerial photo's are great but like you said 4 GRAND its too steep for me too hubby would like one of our place. You know i was joking about the SARS because the symptoms you have to look for are chills, muscle aches, headache, fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing..not much to go on is it? sounds just like a cold to me and i've got 4 out of the 7 symptoms
Em..would one of those cheap pine shelving units not do? they have 4 shelves and i have them in my closets to store shoes on they are only $25 at London Drugs or Zellers.
So much to catch up on this morning and the page type is huge -- not sure if it's my computer settings or their site, but needless to say, I can read it very well .
Carol -- all appendages crossed for you to go into Onederland! I have 3 lbs to go and I am there too -- let's do it and promise ourselves NEVER to cross back again. I snuck a peak at the scale this morning (weigh in isn't until Fri/Sat) and it hasn't moved either way despite the exercise that I have begun and good eating. Yep, just what I thought, the bod's in shock because I started to work out again .
Another September bride -- too bad we "brides" can't celebrate together!
Cathy, you would have to mention SARS now wouldn't you?? Now you are getting me worried about you too -- you guys could go and have it checked out and then I can relax. Yes, I am a closet worry wart!
Emily, Cathy mentioned shelving, and I wanted to tell you that I bought a great 5 tier shelf (each shelf holds upto 55 lbs) for Chris' dorm at WalMart for only $19.99. The shelves are oak look and the plastic poles are black. It stands about 5' high too. He couldn't fit it in his room so I put it in the garage -- looks too nice for the garage though!
Amazing how many toys kids can accumulate though. You have what HGTV calls an "organizational challenge." Good luck and have fun!
I have seen the yellow melons but have never bought any -- somehow watermelon should be red. Call it by another name and I would probably buy it! Can you tell I am not adventurous when it comes to trying new foods???!!!
......posting and then I will be back with more -- in a gabby mood!
Both guys really didn't have too much laundry so it wasn't a bother, and I was in a good mood. Besides, they hang it all up when they get back to the dorm -- that's the part that I consider "work!" I had the time and the machine was going anyway ....
I feel sorry for Cory (his roommate and high school friend) because his parents are divorced and it's a rather dysfunctional family with a lot of troubles (not that we don't have our own at this end!). Cory usually spends more time at his grandparents' house. He wasn't even going to tell his dad that he was home for the weekend and he never mentions his mom at all. Every now and then you need to do a good deed ya know .....
Meg, I love hunter green and our living room and kitchen are in those colors -- with some cranberry and a lot of cream thrown in for accent colors. I bet your kitchen is going to look great!
Dahlia, I have seen the aerial photos that you mention -- big bucks indeed. For a lot less than 4 thousand I bet you could rent a small plane, a pilot, take your own camera and do it yourself! Glad you are feeling better but remember not to overdo it before you leave because you do want to leave --- I would hate to read of you having a relapse just before vacation starts. And, we won't even say that too loud!
Your rooms sound beautiful -- almost like the White House with a Blue Room, etc!
Speaking of Florida (you had mentioned your sister) I am going for a long weekend in October to visit a friend and I am very much looking forward to it. I am not looking forward to flying though but I figure if Cathy can fly all that way to England, then I can bite the bullet (and drop the xanax!) and survive a 2 1/2 - 3 hr flight. Right??!!!
Looks like we will be getting only a bit of the tail end of the hurricane that is coming -- a bit of wind and some rain on Friday. Power outages should be the only worry and I just need to make sure my mom has batteries in her flashlight. She lives in an assisted living place and they do have generators but a flash light comes in handy too especially because only the emergency lights work off the generator.
Hey, I am still gabbing here -- lucky you!
Did I tell you my treadmill quit on me?? Anyway, Sears is coming out this afternoon between 12-5 to take a look at it. Of course the extended warranty went off of it last year and it's $96 for them to just come out. Oh well whatcha gonna do .....
Hmm, time for another cup of coffee. OK, I have actually run out of things to say (for awhile!) so let me sign off by saying "Happy Wednesday" and let's think thin!
Good morning,
Terry you sounded like you were in a happy mood in your post..
what part of Florida are you going to? Sounds like fun. I stepped on the metal monster this morning,, I have been real good about not weighing every day....and I was down another pound... so that makes me feel good.. I sure hope I can make good choices while I am gone.. am hoping that being in the car for so long and doing vacation things,, I won't think about or eat much...hope hope
Today I am cleaning out under my sink..it's garbage day so figured it was a good day to do that..I already did the medicine cabinet.. I had things in there that expired in 1990... geesh..!!!
Then I am going upstairs to move a couple book cases... NO I won't be moving the actual cases.. just removing all the books so dh/son can move them at lunch time for me.. (whispering) I promise I won't....
The sun is out,, but its cool, a perfect day for cleaning house.. I don't know if it's all the HGTV or what but I wake up around 5:30-6 in the morning and I lay there thinking about what I can do to fix up this room or that... I have enough projects in my mind to keep me going till I am about 95.... poor hubby... at least I am not thinking about food...
My granddaughter was over yesterday and I showed her the room... she loves to go upstairs in grannies house...anyway I told her it was her room when she stays with granny.. so of course she wanted to stay....
Well, I better get back to under my sink, hope you all have a great day.. and stay *OP*..
Hi guys. Yesterday Dan and I worked from 8 until midnight packing up the stuff we sold on EBay. We made just over $1000 this time around. About 10 items didn't sell, so we will relist them.
Dahlia, a little de-cluttering is good. Have you been to the organizedhome.com website? It is all about decluttering. I love it. I did my house top to bottom last year.
Well, I bought our xmas cards last night at Costco. They are really nice - even Dan was into it.
Bought the 3 mile WATP tape yesterday. Figure I can work up to it.
Morning Ladies,
Dahlia..that's hilarious 13 year old Medicine I think i should tune into HGTV if it gives you the oomph to tackle new projects I don't have much oomph at the moment and i want to throw out some clothes and sort stuff out..maybe today. Congrats on the pound loss
Meg..Congrats on selling your stuff..did you say you sold a leather couch? i was just wondering how on earth you ship something like that to someone i'm just curious because i've been thinking of dabbling myself but the thought of shipping stuff puts me off..i know a lot of sellers say that the buyer pays shipping cost..is this the norm? and how does it work.
Hey Terry..you know i did'nt even take any medication on the flight home it did'nt bother me at all..i took some on the way there "just in case".Sorry to hear about the treadmill..is'nt it funny how they always quit when the warranty ends I got on mine the last 2 days and walked 2mls..will do the same today.
Even though i've taken hot lemon drinks..cough syrup and cough lozenges my throat is still raw and it is my second night without sleep so if it does'nt improve by the morning i think i'll have to go to the clinic..I have never had a cough (or a headache) last for 8 days
Cathy - we had a local auction for the couch and loveseat. Only people in chicago were bidding. For the other stuff, yes, the bidder pays shipping. So I get emails during the auction asking how much shipping is to a certain zip code. I measure and weigh the item, and then use the UPS site to estimate shipping.
We shipped 1/2 of the items we sold last night. The rest should be gone by the end of the week. I can actually see the floor in our storage room.
I did some decluttering in our kitchen yesterday. We had 2 cabinets FULL of baking supplies. I got rid of almost everything. Just the things I know I will use.
I just can't seem to lose any weight. I don't know what the deal is. But I know, if you do it right it will come off slow. I am trying to remember that.
I am going to have a cup of coffee and then do WATP 3 mile tape - I bought it and am going to do as much as I can. I wanted something more challenging than the 1 mile.
Today is my 4 year anniversary. Dan bought me a beautiful sterling ring from Tiffany with 3 hearts. I LOVE it.
Hi guys - I just had to share - I did ALL 3 miles of the WATP tape!!!!!
I was going to quit at 1.5, then 2, then 2.5, and then before you know it I was doing the cool down section!
I quit smoking yesterday, and I really feel it today. My throat is scratchy and I have a little dry cough. I picked up the habit at the last job (the one I quit). It was stupid to start, so I wanted to quit right away - just too lazy. Dan and I both quit together. I am hoping that within a few days I will feel alot better. They say big changes occur within 72 hours. I feel like it was a good thing getting all of that oxygen thru my lungs. Maybe that will help speed things along.
Anyway - now I am motivated to stay OP today. Have a good one!
Happy Anniversary, Meg and Dan!! I must say, Meg, your man knows how to treat his lady well -- I bet the ring is just gorgeous . Good for the two of you to stop smoking -- actually that is the best anniversary present you can give each other.
Congrats on doing the WATP 3 miler too! What I really like about her tapes is that you can always kick them up a notch by jogging if you want to, or you can slow them down a bit too, and yet you still get so many benefits. I think the 3 miles for Abs is tougher than the first one. Keep up the good work .
Cathy, I hope you and John are feeling better today. Maybe it's more of a sinus problem than anything else. BTW, my treadmill cost $356 to fix -- the motor blew. It was still cheaper than replacing it with a similiar model and I do enjoy it. The repairman wanted to know if Russ was mechanically inclined because he would have just charged me for the part and not the labor. Ha! Russ doesn't know one end of a hammer from the other, and we do not let him anywhere near anything electrical .
It's now much quieter too so it was worth all that dough.
Dahlia, I hope you had a productive day yesterday and kept your men busy . Personally, I am scared to go under my sink! It sounds like you were in a "firing" mood -- a word my mom used to use when she'd clean out the closets, cabinets and under the beds. Everything that she didn't see a need for, she threw out. She fore-warned (sp??) us though so we knew to put away whatever toys we deemed valuable.
Your granddaughter sounds so sweet -- I bet she was smiling from ear-to-ear!
You had asked about Florida, I am going to fly into Tampa and then visit with a friend who lives in Clearwater which is only 15 minutes away. I'm staying at a quaint bed and breakfast and very much looking forward to it -- just not the flight .
OK, Emily and Carol -- what are you two upto today??!!
Hey, we have not heard from Pam in awhile --- isn't her sister's wedding this month??
Last night was not a good night food-wise and today my stomach is paying for it. Just felt like sweets and hit the cookies and some Reeses Peanut Butter Cups. Have not done that in awhile -- over and done with.
A few more minutes on the computer (amazing how it can turn into hours, eh, Cathy?!) and then I hit the treadmill. Rochester goes to the vet later this afternoon and then I have some errands to do. Maybe some fun shopping too .....
Hi Ladies,
Happy Anniversary Meg and Dan and thanks for the info What did you do with the baking supplies Meg? give them away or throw them away..it seems such a shame to throw it out.
Congratulations on quitting smoking..Horrible Habit
Terry..WOW..jogging that fast that you burnt out its motor what a woman! glad its fixed and better than ever. Yes you're right it is Pam's sisters wedding this month unless one of them did a Bennifer are'nt you sick of that stupid name and hearing about them too? i know i am. When i was in England people seem to feel the same about Posh Spice (Victoria Beckham) and her footballer husband David? Jacqui even bought the T-shirt "Bored with the Beckhams" they should make one for J-Lo and Ben.
The ailment definitely is'nt sinus trouble and this morning its loosening up and i'm sneezing have a runny nose, headache, shivering and still barking like a sea-lion which is the worst part I generally feel tired out and have no energy to do anything but i'll have to because i need to grocery shop today.
It's morning and I will be back later when I wake up more. Shortest post ever from me -- can't multifunction, heck can't function period -- when I am so sleepy. Tylenol PM really did it's job last night. Bet you were all just dying to know that snippet of info. Ter, keep drinking that coffee .....
