Hi all, quick post for me. Thank you all very much for your good wishes. I am a bit nervous about tomorrow but I am also eager to get this done and over with. I had to take care of some unexpected shelter business today so I never got to posting. I am not sure if I am going to be able to see the computer very well tomorrow because I won't be able to wear my computer glasses any more and wouldn't you know it - I misplaced my brand new cheaters glasses
So it might be a couple of days before I am back on again - will have to get to the store and find something that works for me based on 2 new eyes.
Will be thinking of all of you and having mental conversations. Be well and take care of those chigger bites Annie - I really feel for you. to all.
SHOUT OUT TO HAPPY this morning, best of the best for surgery, you and surgeons, nurses and everyone involved. Hugs!
Breakfast of the champions...1/2 cup ff cottage cheese, one small cuke cut up out of garden<--yeah garden, small tomato out of garden and top it off with pica. Heaven, I'm in heaven.
Didn't sleep well last night, kind of spurt sleeping. Sleep an hour wake up and wonder what time it was, make myself go back to sleep, repeat. What a work out that was and you know how much I hate exercise. So went ahead and got up at 4:30, was at work by 6:30. Yikes, I will be worn out by the time 4:00 comes to go home. May slip out a lil early. Depends on this wacky report day!
As of today, it is 30 days till Sept 12th wedding day. Still want to lose 20 lbs before then. haha. Would have to starve and actually exercise. Not happening. Things are coming together. The kids sold the car my dad gave them for 1200 bucks. So that will help out on the rest of the stuff we still have to pay for...photographer, DJ, and food at reception. Altho the starter went out on their car, Chris can install new one but they have to buy it first. Bout 150 bucks so they are still ahead.
SUSIE...I am very proud of you exercising regularly and of you WL. You are rocking this sister, keep up the good work. I did put clear polish on my bites but some are still itching. Bet your sweet bippy I didn't go outside last night. I have a broad taste in music also but after 2 or 3 songs on the radio I go back to KLove. Just can't stand it.
CHELLE...glad the test went in your favor and you will be getting a new machine. The sleep study place called me yesterday afternoon. They are sending me the paper work to fill out for C. They need a bit more information to be sure insurance will cover the testing. Of course I will fill it out. No problem.
LAURA...I am a big bag lover also. I have many from all kinds of places. The best bags right now are the 2 for 5$ at Cracker Barrell. Very sturdy, nice sized and a nice square bottom to them. They also fold up nicely. Glad your new bike is working out for you.
Morning all. Our admin is out again today. I sure hope this won’t be a long-term thing. I’m worried because she really has very serious health issues and I’m sure all kinds of complications can arise.
Happy – Wishing you a very successful surgery today!! Several surgeries amongst my friends right now – besides you, one friend just had hip surgery last week, and another is (FINALLY) having knee surgery in September right after Labor Day. Anyway, hope you find a pair of readers that work for you. “See” you in a couple days.
Michelle – So great that you will be getting a new CPAP machine, covered by insurance. My friend D uses a CPAP and we’ve shared hotel rooms a few times on various outings, and it’s really very quiet. Definitely better than listening to snoring! Yeh, the heavier plastic bags now being used are intended to be reused – they say it right on the bag. I hope people embrace this change. I’m using one to cover the seat on my “new” bike while it sits at the station. I have another in my desk drawer at work. I also have a canvas tote at work. We have a bunch of reusable bags in our old car. I don’t think any have made it into the “new” car yet, but I should do that because we use them for library books, etc. We’ve bought poop bags and a little dispenser (clips onto the leash), but I’ve gotten so accustomed to using the big grocery bags, I find those bags too small to work with. Bf uses them though. I know biodegradable poop bags exist, but I hear they might degrade before you even get a chance to use them all up. I guess you’d have to buy them in smaller quantities…
Annie – Good golly, 48 bites!! You poor thing. I hope the itchiness subsides today. I think I have to get back to eating cottage cheese, especially at breakfast time, because I’d like to get more protein in the morning. Well, 20 lbs is a lot to lose in a month, and that would require extreme measures. And you don’t want to have to alter your dress…slow and steady is best. Glad things are coming together for the kids with all the wedding plans.
Susie – Great job on the bike. I think the biggest thing is getting going – once you’re on the bike, you’ll go the length of time you intend, especially when you have music or tv to entertain yourself. With me, it’s getting into workout gear and getting down in the basement or to the recplex. I like the idea about tying the fitbit to your shoe. I don’t think I get “credit” for the portions of my commute via bike… Yeh, we also use our grocery bags for trash bags for the smaller wastebaskets in the house, and I use them for when I’m prepping fruits and veggies. I like to take that stuff directly to the big trash bin outside, don’t want it sitting in the kitchen garbage all the way ‘til trash day.
Hellos to Terra, Shad, Ceejay & Dee!
^^
Nothing much to report.
I didn’t go to movie night last night, nor did I do an exercise class. I will regret the latter when I return from MO and have 7 classes to take in about 10 days. Oh well. Last night I did one 30-second plank and that was it for my exercise. I did a couple loads of laundry, and I should have my pick of clothes to bring with me to MO.
I turned the hose on our new parkway tree this morning for an hour – our area is in a 2-3 inch rain deficit. I have to remember to do that weekly if we don’t get any big rain dumps.
That’s about it. Tonight I’ll be packing and getting ready to travel tomorrow. The flight’s at about 9:30 am, so I won’t have a nightmare early wakeup tomorrow, but the trip to the airport will be right during rush hour, so that won’t be fun.
Wishing Happy the very best for surgery today! I'm sure it will be such a wonderful feeling being able to see clearly! Cue the music "I can see clearly now, the rain has gone." You're welcome for today's ear worm.
Went on a 2.5 mile walk with a friend yesterday after work. And good news....after trying a bit of ice cream twice in the last few days...I now officially dump. Not really bad - I don't feel like I'm going to pass out - but the stomach cramping is bad enough to deter me from now on. Definitely what I've been hoping for. I've heard it's very common to become lactose intolerant after gastric bypass surgery, but I do just fine with Greek yogurt, cottage cheese and other cheese, which is great because those foods are a staple in my diet. And I get stomach cramping after any high sugar food - so it's dumping not lactose intolerance. Never have I been so glad to have tummy distress! I don't have to rely on willpower alone.
My step-brother who is in his late 50s and lives in Alaska had a motorcycle accident last week - a car plowed into him. He's in pretty bad shape with a bruised kidney, ruptured spleen, a broken rib, 3 fractured ribs, and both wrists are broken (one of them very badly and requiring a plate). He's still in the hospital and requires more surgery, but they have to wait until he's a bit stronger - hopefully in the next day or so. My step-mother flew to Alaska on Monday and she'll be there for a week to 10 days.
Sorry not much time for personals right now. Lots to get done at work.
Interesting Annie. I can pick out the tomato, cucumber, cottage cheese and see pepper, but what is the other stuff! Get out there and walk woman!!!!!
(Says she who hasn't done a stitch of exercise since Monday)
Thanks for all the good wishes about my step-brother. I got some very bad news yesterday about a dear friend of the family who is in her early 70s. She has been battling leukemia for a few years and thought she was in remission. She even got the doctor's ok to travel, so she and her husband went on a Mediterranean cruise. They had a lovely time in Venice, but once back on the ship, she started having double vision. The ship's physician suspected a brain tumor. The next port of call was Istanbul - 3 days later. They disembarked the cruise in Istanbul and sadly, the doctor at Istanbul's finest hospital confirmed the diagnosis. They flew back to the Bay Area and went to their local hospital's emergency room on Saturday. The initial prognosis was 6 months left to live. I stopped by to visit her. I wanted to see her anyway as she's always been a wonderful person in my life, and I especially wanted to visit her since my step-mother is in Alaska to be with my step-brother and therefore, couldn't visit this dear friend of hers. A couple hours before I got to the hospital yesterday, the doctor told them that based on all the tests and scans they had run since she was admitted on Saturday, the prognosis is not good at all. She has two weeks or less to live. So incredibly sad. This woman has always been fun and vibrant and full of life. To see her so weak in her hospital bed was heartbreaking. She is supposed to be moved to a hospice facility in the next day or so, and I asked her husband to please let me know where she is moved so that I can visit her again.
So very sad. And I feel so bad for my step-mom. I know she's at the age when friends of hers are dying...but it's still got to be hard. She's got 3 close friends with cancer, and her eldest son with some very serious but thankfully no longer life-threatening injuries. I worry about the toll this has to be taking on her.
Anyway, I've got to get a bunch of work done, so no time for personals. Happy, I hope the surgery went well.

Hi everyone,
I made it through the second surgery but not as easily as the first. It seemed he worked on this eye more than the first and at one point I was starting to feel pain - like they were stabbing my eye with something sharp. My eye was intensely sore and irritated and I had a blinding headache Wednesday. They took the bandage off today - part of what was also irritating my eye and it's a lot more red and sore than the other was but the doctor said I am doing fine. He said he added a little more near sight to the second eye so I might not need glasses for the computer. It is helping a bit but my vision is going in and out as the eye heals. At one point the eye was clouded up but that cleared quickly. I did get a pair of low power reading glasses and that took me from 80 percent to see the computer screen to almost 100 percent. I can also now read expiration dates on labels. It is weird not to have any more up close vision. I will need glasses of some sort to see things up close although I don't need them from far away.
DH wants to take a road trip Friday morning. We are going on that cruise in 10 days and we are scouting around to see if we can find a decent hotel room for the night before which isn't costing and arm and leg during the height of summer tourist season.
I am about to head off to bed now so I will beg off personals at the moment other than to say thank you for your good wishes and I hope that your step brother will be ok Michelle and sorry to hear of your friend's cancer diagnosis.
Morning. Just a quick check -in. Flight was fine. Rest of the day was not without a couple "adventures", but I will hold off on those for now.
Happy, hope the eye heals quickly, the vision clears & you have no more headaches.
Michelle – So sorry to hear about your stepbrother's accident - Glad the injuries are no longer life-threatening. Just hope none are permanently debilitating. Your poor stepmom! Very sad about her(& your) friend's terminal illness.
That’s it for now, we have some tidying to do before the first realtor gets here. Back later.
Good MORNING FRIDAY!! And it is Good Friday---Payday!! I briefly saw the money in and quickly back out for bills...lol.
Yesterday's Habitat for Humanity went well. Got to meet the new owner as she too has to volunteer her time on her house project. Very nice lady with two pre-teen kiddos.
HAPPY...glad the surgery is over and all went well. Soon it will be smooth sailing. Time heals all. Hang in there sister. Hugs.
CHELLE...so sorry to hear about your brother's accident, hope he is on the mend. Very sorry to hear of your family friend with cancer. D*mn cancer, it so sucks.
LAURA...Yeah, you arrived safely. Good luck with the realtor.
