  • Morning all. Pretty quiet here – the boss is out one more day and the admin called in sick.

    Happy – LOL re the mis-arrangement of the books at the shop. At least you still get books donated. The thrift shop I got to doesn’t seem to get a great many of them, and the same ones hang around a while. I suppose e-books have impacted the flow... Is your 2nd surgery this week? Is it on Wednesday again?

    Shad – Sounds like you had a lovely time with your teammate over the weekend. Bummer about the leaky washing machine. Another leaky something in your temporary digs – last time it was the ceiling. Hmmmm. What’s with that?

    Annie – Nice to have your week shook up a little bit with the Habitat thing. And it's always nice when the boss is out for a day or two. Your gathering Saturday night sounds nice. You have to put Sass and the greyhound together for play dates regularly. A tired dog is a good dog…and you won’t have to get up for potty runs during the night (for her, anyway). Yes, it’s sad about Frank Gifford because I believe he has kids that are in their early 20’s – rather young.

    Hellos to the rest of you. Have a good week!!
    --
    Saturday night we had a few people over for bf's birthday. It was a nice evening so we sat out on the patio. It was a nice low key evening, but a late night for me.

    I didn’t end up doing much on Sunday. Lazed with a book and the newspaper for a while. I did a couple loads of laundry, walked the dog. My mom phoned and ended up talking to bf for a long time – he was advising her about putting her house up for sale (he’s a managing RE broker).

    I sorted through my grandma’s buttons looking for the right one. A while back, I bought a dark navy cotton peasant-y type tunic top that had a stark white button closing at the neckline. I didn’t care for that white button, so I found a dark-colored one and replaced the white one. I have to ask my mom about the button stash I ended up with. It used to fill several jars, and at one point I sorted them into three plastic bags based on their sizes. The bags fill an entire shoe box. I just wonder how my grandmother accumulated so many buttons! She must have cut them off of every piece of clothing in the house for her entire life. Did clothing never make it to goodwill back then? I think not. She was of the era when worn collars got turned and were worn some more or were made into something else. When they were finally unwearable they must have gone to the rag man – minus the buttons. Anyway, there are some interesting buttons in there. One day I might sort them some more. Maybe someone would want some of the fancier/more interesting ones. I know I’ll never use that many buttons in the next several lifetimes.

    That’s about it for me. I started a list of what I need to bring to my mom’s this week (fly out Thursday). I might bring my work laptop – not sure. My mom doesn’t have internet service, so it might be a waste. Too bad, it would have been nice to be able to access Netflix and watch movie/shows. I never seem to find anything to watch on her cable setup. Eh, I guess my cell phone will be adequate. I'll load a couple of e-books on it. Ha, I could watch Netflix on it if I get really desperate for entertainment, LOL.

    Okay, less rambling, more work. Back later.
  • Good morning all,

    Yesterday DH was sitting in my recliner watching TV so I went into the bedroom to see what was on. I looked out the window to the west - heavy pine tree cover but I could see some brilliant orange peeking through - like it was on fire. I told DH and the clouds above the house were just starting to get a pink tinge on them as the sunset was engaging. We raced out the door down to the nearby lake and man oh man - what an incredibly beautiful sunset. The pinks and bits of orange were reflecting on the water. It was so gorgeous. Then we came home and had a piece of the fresh peach pie I had just taken out of the oven. Yum, yum if I do say so. I had 15 peaches that were going soft so I made 4 jars of peach freezer jam - soooo peachy delicious. One container of peach salsa to go with roasted chicken tonight and the rest went into the peach pie. We had gone out to eat earlier at a small local restaurant that has the best fried chicken. On Sundays they also have their fried or baked walleye fish or you can get spaghetti instead with the chicken. Comes with homemade coleslaw, potato and the best fry bread - fried dough with a sprinkle of powdered sugar. I only had one piece of fry bread and one piece of chicken as I don't typically eat that stuff but boy, what a treat. Yesterday was good eating. My eyes are still wonky - it was dicey - pun intended - skinning and cutting the peaches yesterday as I can't see too well at mid range. Even seeing the food on my plate eating is a bit of a challenge but I haven't gotten too much food on my shirt this week. I started drops in both eyes yesterday so things are even fuzzier. Am looking forward to being done with this after Wednesday's next surgery. I have a 9am early surgery again so glad of that. The weekend passed quickly - I'm sure I did some stuff - don't remember what I did get the books straightened up at the thrift shop. They sort of looked like the attached picture - that's why it bothered me to see it that way.

    Thank you Annie for the information on the meteor shower. That is peaking the night of my surgery so I will have an eye patch and won't be seeing much Also after the last time when I was standing on my pitch dark deck looking at the sky and a bear came by 15 minutes after I went in the house, I'm not so sure I'm comfortable standing on the deck at night alone anymore. But kidding aside - this is one of the year's best meteor showers - the best time to view is after midnight when the skies clear so if your insomnia beckons at 3am again - take a peek outside.

    Laura - I think we are fortunate to get a lot of books because due to the nature of cabins and recreational living up this way, a lot of people bring and buy books for vacation reading. We are also fortunate in that we have a few loyal supporters who in the spring bring in boxes of their winter reading. 2 people in particular bring us brand new, recent and popular hard cover books. I always hope I am in the shop that day when those people donate. And then again, we also get our share of old, yellowed and musty books that have been sitting in damp garages. I did not know that BF was a broker. That really comes in handy for your Mom to get some professional advice. We all tend to value our properties more than the public does so I do tell people that one should solicit advice and listen to their broker. They know what's going on and what will sell, even if we disagree. Are you going to help Mom get the house ready for sale? I hear that house prices are on the rise again, good news for sellers. I had to smile about your button box. I have one too - it was a habit passed down from my Mom who probably got it from her Mom. Like you, I can't say if I have ever really retrieved a button from there (well maybe once or twice) but still I save them. I have a friend who knits and she tends to look for buttons - but usually bigger and more unusual ones to use as a one button closure. You are right about grandma letting nothing go to waste and using everything. I remember when I was a junior in high school the book Future Shock came out and it was all about the new "disposable society" where everything got tossed into landfills. Something to think about. We have an interesting volunteer at the thrift shop who is a self admitted "nervous norvus fidgety pants" and must always be doing something with her hands. She delights in repurposing things. She made a skirt for her daughter out of old men's ties. And she makes interesting shopping bags by crocheting handle tops over sturdy paper bags like pet food and bird seed. Kudos to her for keeping things out of landfills! Spending time at your Mom's house sounds like me - not sure it's worth lugging the computer if you have to go in search of free Wi-Fi although it's everywhere nowadays. That's when having a tablet comes in handy. Are you staying long?

    Annie - is there nothing better than sitting around a firepit / campfire with friends? I think not. And up until midnight - how did you manage that? I saw the post about Frank Gifford - I remember him from Monday Night Football as a commentator. I was stunned that he was 84 years old. I am surprised at how many people are just a few years younger than my Momma - I thought they were closer to my age. I also thought it was sort of sad - Frank was a great athlete and now he is known as Kathy Gifford's husband. I got a good laugh from the video I shared on FB about the dog who was "sleep digging" - was funny that you said Sassy does the same thing What a cutie!

    Shaddie - jazzing around in a sports car! Chateau in France - is that a fancy word for home in France or is that something akin to a castle like the Worldlies once dreamed of - but without all the windows to wash - Did you get your taxes done finally?

    Hello to the rest of the chicks

    DH wants to run to Duluth and I have to make a quick stop at the Farmers Market so I'd better get ready. Have a good day everyone.

  • Happy
    I hope you didn't mind but I shared the doggie video digging for his bone. I got a laugh out of that one.

    Laura
    Bet you are glad that the flower beds are finished. So you are going to visit with your mom. I'll be heading to my sister's in September. Hope the sell of your moms house goes quickly. I don't usually watch the lightening but the thunder was rolling and I wanted to see what the lightening was doing. Instead of strikes it was more like sheets.

    Terra
    What kind of computer class are you taking?

    Annie
    What a fun night for you with sitting around a fire pit! Hmm wonder if I could get my sis and bil to do that while visiting.

    Shad
    Hope the land lord came to fix the washer.

    Hi Dee

    -------
    My Thursday and Friday off last week end was quiet. Saturday I went to Paragould and ate lunch with 2 of my uncles. And three cousins were there also. One of whom I have not seen since her dad passed. Still looks the same but like the rest of us getting a bit older. It was good to visit with her. Wish we had more time but this was a whirl wind week end for her. She had her class reunion on Saturday night and the went back to Lexington, KY on Sunday. I went to Jonesboro and spent the night with my friend there.
    One of my uncles was in the hospital. He had fallen a broke his hip.
    This morning I was awake a few moments before the alarm went off due to a loud thunderstorm. It sure put down the rain. I had to wait till the lightening passed to take my shower. On my way to work, the street I live on was flooded plus a couple of others. The ditch in the median was 3/4 full so I'm guestimating we got 3 inches of rain.
    The storm caught my co-worker off guard this morning and it's taken the plant most of the morning to get the tanks full again. At least I was not here at that time.
    Text with my niece Saturday afternoon. When I'm in Missouri she wants to take me to Silver Dollar City. I've been there but wouldn't mind going again. That's a lot of walking. I also want to go to Dixie Stampeed if it's still open.
  • Happy Monday everyone! I had a lovely weekend, even though it was crazy busy...but with fun things.

    Saturday I did a bit of housework, then went to see my friend's daughters, I call them my nieces or my girls (4 of them) review of the classes they took at the local theatre this past summer. It was sort of a review. They like for us to come and I am glad they ask. Makes me feel loved!

    We had dinner with some friends that we haven't seen in over a year. My friend is vegan and they had a lot of vegan dishes. I loved it....DH stopped for a McDonalds cheeseburger on the way home! He said he liked it but he needed meat. She recently changed to vegan about 2 years ago. She asked me if it was ok to cook all vegan and DH said he was up to try it.

    I had a fantastic TOPS weigh-in on Thursday, down 5 lbs!! That will be tough to maintain this week. Seems like when the body losses big like that it is stubborn the next week. I'm shooting for 2 lbs this week but will be happy with one.

    Sunday, I didn't go to church, and I finished cleaning my house and the laundry. DH mowed the lawn. Sunday evening, my BFF and I went to see Cheap Trick and Peter Frampton in concert. She won the tickets Friday so it was impromptu plans but what fun. Our seats were good, we sang all the songs we knew from JR high and I really enjoyed listening to Frampton play the guitar...so, so good.

    It was fun to watch all the "old" hippies and there were a lot of them. There was a row of them in front of us and the row in back of us were guys who were 16 + when Cheap Trick and Frampton were in their hay day. They kept flirting with us and all we could do was giggle. They said we looked 21....I said "I think I'm in love!" hahahah!

    I did get on my bike 3 days last week and just finished a 30 min ride tonight. I bumped it up a level and turned up the Ipod.

    Happy: I am praying for your upcoming eye surgery. I hope it wont be long before you can really see again. I know it has been somewhat a pain for you.

    I love peaches and all the things you did with them sound yummy!

    Annie: I love sitting around a fire pit. We have friends that use theirs a lot and we do that a lot on Friday evenings with them. It's a nice way to unwind.

    I am glad that your DH is going to check things out and see if he has sleep apnea. I have met my deductible and I'm thinking of doing a study. I don't really snore (per my DH) but sometimes I think I don't sleep deep enough. I am just in the thinking stage but will make up my mind in a couple of weeks.

    Terra: I am interested to know what computer classes you are taking.

    Ceejay: I saw that you have been getting in some good walking. Good for you! When are you going to Missouri? I love going to the Dixie Stampeed . We have done that in Missouri and in Pigeon Forge.

    I'm sorry to hear that one of your Uncle's broke his hip. How is he doing?

    Michelle: I'm a bit concerned that your heart was racing like that. Has that stopped? My nieces and my nephews loved "Inside Out". I will have to watch it sometime.

    Laura: My grandmother had a button jar too. I think it was what people did back in that time. They couldn't just run to the store for things so they reused what they had.

    Congratulations for finishing the challenge. I am glad to hear that you liked the spin class with the other instructor. I have a friend who takes Spin and she loves it..she must, she does it at 5 am!

    Shad: What a lovely day you had out and about with your friend. When I was ready your post I felt like I was watching a foreign movie and it all sounded so wonderful. I'm glad you had a nice time given the fact that this contract work sounds horrible at best.

    I hope the leaky washer got fixed.

    Hi to Dee!

    Time to get off her and go empty the dishwasher and start to get ready for bed. I didn't get home until midnight last night (and I was out by 12:10!) and 5:30 a.m. came early this morning. I shooting for 9:30 but will most likely be 10 p.m. tonight.
  • And here I thought that the light at the end of the tunnel was getting brighter, when we have had a power cut.

    Back to the grind. More long hours to come.

    Have fun, play nice, and stay safe.
  • Tuesday Morning - yeah I woke up and feel halfway decent today considering I have about 30 chigger bites (not an exaggerating either) on my legs and hands. I was only outside for about 20 minutes last night adjusting our solar lights along the front. OMG, I itched all night long. This morning after shower I put clear nail polish on them all and the itching has mostly stopped. WOW didn't know I was all that tasty! Laundry and bed.

    SUSIE....your weekend sounded so fun. Ahhh Peter Frampton. Yes I wore my 8-track tape out in my car playing him. Love me some Cheap Trick also. Not fond of crowds however, or tricky, long line waiting to get home parking lots. I was vegetarian for 10 years. No reason, just thought I wanted to do it.

    LAURA...funny, I have a button tin that was passed down from my Gma to me. It is like an old large round bunt style fruit cake tin. Tons and tons of buttons. Even buttons off of old coats and furniture. I have used buttons out of that tin several times. Handy. I also have my momma's old sewing box with very old type sewing items in it. Ric rac, seamstress tape, a few buttons, seam rippers, thread, just lots of stuff. It is sometimes hard for me to look in it, memories and tears. <---Annie the big baby.

    SHADDIE...Hi, welcome back, see you soon. lol

    CEEG...Dixie Stampeed sounds fun. Hope you uncle heals very quickly with his broken hip. I will include him in prayers. Hope you get to enjoy a pit fire while visiting your sis.

    HAPPY...continued prayers for your next eye surgery tomorrow. I am sure it will be a piece of your favorite cake! Wait til next month when you can see better, you will look back at this and laugh..probably NOT. Hugs sweet sister.

    CHELLE..thanks for the Inside Out review. I will probably catch that one on rental. Let us know how the sleep study went. We still have not heard from Cs doc office on a scheduled sleep study. Will call them today.

    DEE...hope you are feeling well and getting around ok. Hugs

    Hello to all - Hugs
  • Annie
    Oh my, chiggers! My uncle is doing as well as an 82 year old can. They have him in therapy.

    Susie
    Sounds like you had a fun week end. I enjoy going to these type of concerts. Makes you feel young at heart. I need to train myself to eat more veggies. I'm like your dh I need my meat. Congrats on the 5 pound loss this week.

    Laura
    My sis has a collection of buttons from my mom's collection and my aunt had a collection so I gave those to her. She lets the grand kids play with them.

    -----
    Got to work this morning and the gate was still locked. I first thought hmm did I come in on the wrong day. But my boss is not here today nor is the other early bird. I really wanted to sleep in this morning. We are getting a taste of fall this week.
    I forgot my fitbit again this morning. That thing is really a motivator for me. I need to start going back to the Community Center to exercise.
  • OH and SUSIE...WTGG on the 5 lbs down! Whew who!!
  • Good morning ladies,

    Sleep study last night went well. Apparently, I no longer have sleep apnea....or at least not bad enough to warrant them hooking me up to a CPAP machine. They said I had a couple episodes where I stopped breathing, but I started right back up again and my overall oxygen level didn't drop significantly. I slept ok. The bed wasn't as comfortable as mine, and at one point, I heard the technicians talking and laughing loudly as my room was right next to the room they were in monitoring all four patients. I mentioned that, in a very nice way, this morning.

    So within a week a doctor will call me with the official results of the sleep study. After I told one of the sleep nurses that my take home test showed I didn't have apnea anymore, she said it is possible to be CPAP dependent after using a CPAP machine for so long. Which means that even when the apnea gets better and no longer meets the criteria for number of times breathing stops within an hour, some patients sleep more deeply with a CPAP machine. We'll see what the insurance says. If they are willing to pay for a machine, then I'll get it because I know I'll sleep better with it. If not, then I'll get used to sleeping without one.

    ==============================

    Susie - Congrats on the 5 lb weight loss! That's wonderful! I've never seen Frampton, but I really liked his music....and Cheap Trick is awesome. I've seen them a couple times. My heart is doing much better. It felt like it war racing off and on that day, but really I think it was just stress/anxiety.

    Annie - Bummer about the chigger bites. We have mossies and other biting insects here...but not nearly as bad as the Midwest. Did C get his sleep study scheduled? Will it be overnight at a sleep clinic or a take home test? I've had both and can tell you what to expect. And since I had an in-clinic sleep study, I thought I knew what to expect...and most of it was just like the first time. Tons of sensors hooked up to various parts of the body (mostly head, but also a few on the chest, one on the side and on each leg - for restless leg syndrome I guess). The only thing that was different....or that I forgot from the first time....is they use this sticky stuff to get the sensors to stick to the scalp. I showered before going in for the sleep study so I wouldn't have to shower this morning (I'm usually an evening showerer anyway), but will all that sticky goop throughout my hair, there was no way I could style it and go....I had to wash it all out. They had a shower there, and a blowdryer, so it all worked out. Seriously though, if you have any questions about the sleep study (either take home or in-clinic), I'll be happy to answer them. At least C doesn't wear fake nails or nail polish...that's been the biggest drag of this whole thing...because of the sensors placed on the fingers for the take-home test, the loaner CPAP machine with blood oxygen sensor and the in-cllinic test....I've had to remove the fake nails (and nail polish) from two of my fingers. I could've had all my fake nails removed...that probably wouldn't look as weird as having 8 fingers with nails/polish and the other two without...but since I'm still a nail biter when I don't have fake nails on...I didn't want to bite the other nails way down. I'm either going tonight or tomorrow to get my nails done.

    Ceejay - Sending lots of prayers and healing wishes for your uncle. Glad you like your FitBit. I'm still trying to decide which fitness tracker to get now that I'm walking more and even doing a little running.

    Shad - Between sports cars and a few adult beverages, it sounds like you're enjoying life. Good on ya'.

    Laura - I hope the work week is going well so far. On Sunday, at a doggy meetup, I got to talking with a woman who used to live in Chicago and still goes back every year to visit friends. We were talking about all the fabulous things to do there...like the great museums and festivals. And then we talked about the brutal winters...and how a couple weeks in the summer are so hot and muggy. But we both agreed it was a great place to visit even if we didn't want to live in the Midwest any more.

    to Terra and Dee!

    Love and hugs to all!
  • Laura ~ Yeah I had seen the preview for Home before I saw it but I didnt remember it so thats why I thought it might of been dumb.

    Happy ~ Yeah I didnt eat alot of the biscuits

    Annie ~ What did you think of the preview for Home? It looks cute huh?

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Woke up at 8:30 a.m. Its now 10:26 a.m. I'm about to have an early lunch. I'm not sure what we're doing for dinner tonight but I hope we go to Chipotle or The Chinese buffet. Sunday night we went to Golden Corral cause my sister in law doesnt like the Chinese buffet we go too so we havent went to the Chinese Buffet yet this month. I hope everyone is having a great Tuesday. Take Care Everybody.
  • Morning all.
    Michelle – Well, congrats on no longer having sleep apnea. It did occur to me that you might just be accustomed to sleeping with the CPAP machine, regardless whether you need it or not anymore. I understand it blows air/oxygen into your nostrils, so I should think having more air would help anyone sleep better, once they got accustomed to sleeping with the mask & attached to a tube… Re the glue – I only had 3 sensors attached to me for the colon screen and I thought the adhesive was difficult to remove from my skin. Can’t imagine trying to get it out of your hair! Yeh, there’s a lot to do here in Chicago. I don’t really feel like I take full advantage of all that…I go to a few festivals over the summer. I want to get back to some of the great museums, and visit some that I’ve never been too. Someday...
    Ceejay – Wishing your uncle a good recovery from his hip surgery. Ha, maybe I need to hire some kids to sort out my grandma’s buttons. Everyone at the plant slept in this morning?? Sounds good to me. Good that the fitbit motivates you. I honestly think I prefer my pedometer. It shows the number of steps, not just blinking lights…
    Annie – Ugh, chigger bites! I’ve been lucky with the bugs this year, knock wood. After all that rain this spring and early summer, I thought we’d really have a problem with the skeeters, but not really. Not that I spend that much time outdoors in areas that would really have a lot of them... I think a lot of the public spaces have mosquito abatement services, like Ravinia, the outdoor concert venue here. Anyway, we use something called After Bite and it helps stop the itch. It smells a LOT like ammonia…I bet that’s the main ingredient. Yeh, a lot of my sewing stuff was inherited/handed down. And I even still have a few things from the basic kit I bought for my HS clothing class, LOL.
    Shad – Sorry there’s no light at the end of the tunnel at the moment. It’s your Wednesday – hope you can see a glimmer of the coming weekend. Do you have to work a full day on Saturday?
    Susie – I don’t think I could go vegetarian. When I smell someone in the area grilling something like burgers, steak – it’s just divine. LOL re DH stopping for a burger after the vegan dinner! BIG congrats re the weight loss last week!! Woohoo! I’m sure the exercise helped! I have to get myself in gear - not eating right AT ALL. The concert sounds fun – I remember seeing Cheap Trick once, back in the day.
    Ceejay – Hope you get to sit around a fire pit when you visit your sister & BIL. I went to Silver Dollar City way when I was a kid. Wouldn’t mind doing that again. Or the one in the Smokey Mts. – Dollywood? Isn’t that sort of like SDC? I’ll have to look up the Dixie Stampede. Is it like a rodeo? Saw one of those when I spent time on a work assignment in Nevada many years ago. Sounds like you’ve been getting some severe storms by you. We had storms in the Chicagoland area briefly yesterday, but not by work or home. But it did cause my boss problems with his flight home from vacay – it got diverted to Milwaukee before finally coming back to Chicago. Late night for him and his wife.
    Happy – I hope you will laugh about your post-surgery difficulties someday. I admit to chuckling at your comment “...I haven’t gotten too much food on my shirt this week.” Sending good vibes for a smooth and successful surgery tomorrow. : Yes, I’m going to help my mom get her house ready to sell. I’ll be there about a week. She’s been getting help in for things around the house (painting, etc.), and my sister & BIL were there about 5-6 weeks ago to help out. There’s plenty more to do. You don’t live in a place for 20+ years and not have an accumulation!! Yes, kudos to the folks who keep stuff out of landfills. I see those HGTV shows with the homeowners demolishing their kitchen cabinets so they can install new ones and I think it’s such a waste. Why not remove them intact and give them to someone who might use them??!! Oh, your homemade peach goodies sound so tasty!
    Terra – I’m a bit hungry for lunch by now, so all those places you mentioned sound good to me. But I’m going to try and have a salad for lunch because I think we’ll likely have the leftover crock pot country ribs tonight.
    Hellos to the rest of you!
    --
    So I’m not the only one with a hand-me-down button collection.
    Nothing much to report. I rode my “new” commuter bike to the train station today. Nice and very smooth riding. It’s only a 3-speed, but I’ll adjust. I don’t have any major inclines/declines on my ride.
    The stores in Chicago are now not allowed to use the flimsy plastic grocery bags anymore so as to encourage shoppers to use their own bags, so now they give out heavier plastic bags. Hmmm. I’ll have to remember to have a tote bag with me if I need to pop over to CVS or Walgreens for something during the workday. I have plenty of reusable shopping bags, but we stopped using them for grocery shopping because we need the plastic grocery bags for picking up after the dog on his walks and in the yard. We sure go through them!
    Been typing between running some slow reports, but now the reports are done, so I’m gonna get this posted and get the reports emailed. Bye for now!
  • Laura - Yes, once you get used to the mask and tube, which didn't take me more than 1 or 2 nights to get used to (just have to remember to roll from side to side (180 degrees), rather than completely around (as in 360 degrees). You honestly don't feel the extra air being blown at you, especially with newer machines, and the only time you hear it is when the seal of the mask is broken (as in when you remove it). My ex said it was much better to listen to the mask than to my snoring. And one time on a trip, I shared a hotel room with my step-mom and she was amazed my CPAP machine was so quiet. She thought it would be louder. Enjoy your ribs tonight. Bay Area stores stopped the plastic bags a few years ago. though one store does have heavier duty plastic bags available for sale for 25 cents as opposed to a paper bag for 10 cents. The heavy duty plastic bags are also strong enough to be reusable. I have my doubts about the paper bags because if you get heavy stuff (even a canteloupe and a watermelon), the paper bags aren't strong enough to hold them. I have several cloth/canvas bags and keep some in the car at all times. I also use them for library books, etc. Since the stores stopped giving out the lightweight plastic bags, the only kind you can get are the ones for the produce/meat and also the ones the newspaper comes in, so I buy doggie poop bags through Amazon. You can get a box of 1,000 poop bags for under $20. Glad your reports finally finished.
    Shad - How much longer do you have to put in the long hours on this project?
    Happy - Will be sending : for your surgery tomorrow. My bf said that it was wonderful once the second eye got fixed because he could see so much better than before!! He didn't even mind doing all the eye drops.
    Susie - I know I couldn't go vegan. But I applaud people who can! I really like the taste of meat, and dislike the taste of tofu (and I need to get in massive amounts of protein somehow).
    Annie - Something my ex and I used to use on bug bites is Absorbine Jr. Maybe it was the alcohol or menthol in it...but something in it helped stop the itching.
  • Holy Bat sh*t batman...I counted all the chigger bites. 48 of them.
  • I just got a call from the Sleep Study doctor after he reviewed last night's test. Dang, that was FAST!! While I don't have sleep apnea, and my oxygen level never dropped to dangerous levels, and I'm not at risk for any sleep-related complications, he said that I did have some episodes of coming out of deep sleep due to respiratory reasons. So he recommends that I continue using a CPAP machine, and he wants to schedule me for another in-clinic sleep study where I'll be hooked to one type of machine for the first half of the night and another machine for the second half. By trying two machines that work well for the type of issue I have, I can choose which one I like best and see (based on all the data gathered by the electrodes and sensors) which one works the best.
    So I'm pleased. My severe sleep apnea has been resolved by my weight loss, but due to this secondary, non-life threatening issue, insurance will pay for a new CPAP machine and supplies. Best of both worlds!
  • Hi Ladies. Busy busy day at work. I'm going to work for about an hour at home tonight. I have some emails I need to get out and I really should have had them out yesterday so I will do them tonight and then head to bed.
    Came home from work and did 30 min on the bike. I had downloaded a few Cheap Trick and Dierks Bentley too. I have broad music tastes!
    I knew I might be tired tonight so I put the new songs on there so I would get on the bike and listen to them. It was a way to "treat" myself without food.
    Anne: 48 chigger bites?! WOW. I remember being little and getting them and my dad would put clear nail polish on them. The didn't itch after that.
    Michelle: Great news all around with the sleep apnea results.
    Ceejay: So was the gate locked because the other two weren't there? I'm back to wearing my fitbit too. When I bike I put it on my shoe fastened to the shoe laces. It counts the "steps" that way.
    Terra: Did you end up having Chinese for dinner?
    Laura: I have so many shopping bags...I sort of love bags...any kind...no idea why. I repurpose those plastic bags too. I dump the coffee grounds in them then tie them up so the grinds aren't all over the trash. I also reuse them in the bathroom and bedroom, office in the smaller trash cans I have in there.
    I'm glad to hear you are liking your new bike.
    Hi to Dee!
    Happy: Best wishes tomorrow and sending prayers too!
    Ok. got to get some work emails out.
    See you all tomorrow.
