Hi Everyone! I made it through the training and when I got home last night, I had dinner, watched one DVR'd Biggest Loser and was in bed at 9:30 p.m. and slept until 8:30 a.m. this morning. It felt good!

MiniDoodles! You will love it here. It's a very busy board and very supportive. You do have some food challenges this weekend but I'm sure that you can navigate them well and just do the best you can. We will be here to help you get that 10 lbs gone and support you back to your goal.

Terra: Cleaning the bathroom is on my list of things to do today. My DH is bad at not cleaning up the sink when he shaves. He takes a swipe at it but I have found that most men don't clean like women do!

It sounds like you had a nice time at your nephews house; it is fun to visit with people and get out of the house for a bit.

I'm glad to hear that the migraine didn't last long and you are feeling better.

Laura: I have never bought LL Bean slippers for myself but have for my brother and his partner. They get the ones that have a indoor and outdoor sole and the love them. As Happy said--there are some nice things about winter and warm cozy slippers are one of them.

Michelle: I hope you got the WII set up and I'm looking forward to hearing what things you are doing on it. Is the muffler all fixed?

Shad: I am not a camper and avoid it at all costs...but maybe glamping is something I will consider. I always say that camping for me is staying at a Holiday Inn Express! I'm not a sleep in nature girl.

Happy: I hear that shingles can be very painful and I hope that this won't last long for you. I'm glad to hear that your doctors are stepping up and helping you get into the other doctors that you need to see.

I'm also happy to hear that you found such a nice jacket! It sounds lovely and it will look very nice with jeans. A jacket like that makes one looked very pulled together wearing jeans. I do this sort of look on Friday's when we wear jeans to work. I never know when I might have to step into a meeting with a bunch of Executives to bring handouts or something and I want to look pulled together...in the corporate world image is very important.

Ceejay: That is a long work schedule you are working--be sure to really rest when you are off in the evening.

Hi Annie!

I need to get a move on and get more cleaning done. We are going to one of those places that has corn mazes and pumpkins and things later today so I can get a couple of pumpkins to carve next weekend so I can have lighted jack lanterns for the trick-or-treaters on Halloween. We actually do our "beggars night" the Thursday before Halloween. We are going to O'Charlies for dinner after that and stopping at Target for some things.

See you all tomorrow.

Good morning ladies and welcome to the group MiniDoodles - you are smart to crawl back on the wagon since 5 extra pounds turns into 10 turns into 20, etc so the sooner you can nip it in the bud and turn things around, the better it works out in the long run.

I spent yesterday going back and forth to doctors. My primary care physician told me how to get in to see her the next time I have a problem and said she will address it with the front desk people. Then I saw the eye doctor - oh my - never seen so many elderly - REALLY elderly folks in my life and that's saying a lot since we are mostly all boomers in this town. I suppose it makes sense that you have more eye issues as you age. Anyway, the ophthalmologist was very nice and said fortunately that shingles follows nerve lines and since the breakout was under my eye - there is little chance that it will go into my eye and that the swelling and stabbing pains I feel are normal for shingles but don't mean they are in the eye itself. That's a relief. They have me on an antiviral medication which should speed up the healing. Although I am uncomfortable, I am truly grateful that I don't have the horrid pain typical of this problem. We have a couple of nice fall days ahead - DH asked what's on the agenda - I said things I want to do or things I need to do Some raking will be in line no doubt. I will be working at the shop tomorrow so that kills the day for that. I think I want to go through my upstairs freezer and maybe toss some old stuff out. I should have done that yesterday in time for trash day but I wasn't home to do it. I have some potatoes - both purchased and given to me from a friend's garden. I think I'll roast them and make a nice potato bacon soup. DH would like that.

Susie - sounds like you got some very much needed rest. Now I hope you have the weekend to yourself to tackle no doubt many home chores. Don't spend it catching up from work I hope! Ohhhhh I am so envious that you get to go to O'Charlies. It was one of my favorite restaurants from down south. They used to have a seasonal special of thin chicken cutlets with roasted artichokes and lemon that was my all time favorite. And they had some good salads AND THOSE YUMMY honey buns. Ooops sorry for the food porn outburst. Right now I'm hungry and I couldn't help it I hope you have fun at the pumpkin patch - how neat that you carve pumpkins for the treaters. Wish you could send me the innards - our deer LOVE the pumpkin seeds. Seems like the pumpkin crop did well - we have lots of nicely shaped, good sized, pumpkins but I'm not paying 4 dollars each to feed those demanding deer. I'm glad you are taking some time to have a bit of fun. Is DH feeling better?

Shad - I wouldn't mind going camping again but it would have to be glamping for us in a camper as no way would I ever be able to sleep on the ground in a sleeping bag (even on top of an air mat) with all the kinks in the bones now. In fact when we bought the house and saw this gazebo we have, I thought it would be fun to put the air mattress in it and sleep outdoors on nice evenings. Then we realized not such a good idea with the roaming critters. So here I am in the woods, great environment for camping and can't do it. Guess it's time to donate the camping gear to the thrift shop. Anyway I hope DS has fun on his outing. Had to smile at your description of the ghost cat - I have found black ones to be at both sides of the spectrum - some of them are the most affectionate cats you can find and others prefer to slink in the shadows. I hope he gets along with Miss Sunday. I see now what you refer to as the dingo. We could have used that digging the front yard trench. Don't forget to wear your hardhat Your yard must be looking like a park now with all the efforts you put into it. Now if you would only get some rain... will try and blow some over to you.

Hello to the rest of the chicks - hope you are all enjoying the weekend. Catch up with you later.

Hello Hello Hello...Thanks for the shout out. My job is keeping me so very busy. Just when I think I can no longer learn anything new...surprise...here are two more things you have to do. Reports are the main thing at the moment. Learning how to do them is a challenge as I am not familiar with banking industry. Learning curve, old age, memory shot, be patient with me, which they are, and I am mostly getting it until the next day comes along and poof, here is another report to do. OMG...brain is on overload. I LOVE IT!!!

Sorry I have been MIA. Once I get home make dinner, dishes, laundry, and try to remember my day, I have no time to post. FB is about the only thing I have and that is far and few between other than the forwards. My mind is consumed and lets face it, I have very little memory. Lots of notes and hopeful prayers. lol

My brother's chemo did very little to help his situation. He was supposed to have 6 chemo treatments, they stopped at 5 because the numbers did not get any better since treatment 2. No need to torture him with the last one when it has done all it can do....back to the shot treatment which is still in stage 1. Shots have 3 stages. Of course once in stage 3 life decreases and death is not far behind. Pray for staying in stage 1 forever....

Tomorrow is Jacob's 3rd birthday. The party is today at 5:00. I am making chili, cheeseball, homemade salsa, spinach dip to contribute to the party. Looking forward to the excitement. Jacob wants for his dinner, mini corn dogs and orange chips (Doritos) haha oh and chocolate cupcakes rather than a cake. He is so funny.

CHELLE...I had one more important thing to tell you but cannot think of it now. Will post or message you when I think of it. RE: surgery.

SUSIE...your weekend sounds fun. I am just not into corn mazes, may have something to do with getting lost in a cornfield when young and not finding my way out for a while. FREAKY. Sissy is over excited about KI next year. Me too!

TERRA...focus on you and what you want to achieve.

SHADDIE...I would be more than happy to share this rain we are having with you. I am sick of rain, abnormal weather and cold temps. I am so afraid that we will have a terrible winter, worse than last year. I am convinced if I purchase a snow blower we will not have snow. About to do that even if we dont' get to use it, I will be more than a happy camper.

HI MINI DOODLES...you are more than welcome to join in. I don't post daily as I used to, but do try to keep up. WELCOME!!

HAPPY....oh wee on the jacket in your size, what a victory. How fun is that?
OMG shingles are the worst pain you can experience, rates right up there with child birth and kidney stones. My dad had a very bad case of them. He was in so much pain that I cried. Blessings and healings sweet sister.

Forget what the rest of you posted without going back a page and losing this post. Will post and go back.

Love and hugs

CEEG....wow you have been through the mill with work, hope things are getting better and you can at least cruise along until retirement. Hugs.

HI LAURA...I feel I am neglecting you more than necessary...Hope the lavish house slippers give you the comfort and touch you are looking toward. How are the new "test" contacts working out?

Hope I have not left anyone out. It is not intentional. I do think about all of you every day and think once I get home I can post, but run into "stuff" to do and don't. I have church classes on Tuesday and Wednesday nights so that eliminates those days. Not making excuses however after being behind a puter all day it is the last thing I want to do.

Loves and hugs to all, miss you bunches.

Super quick post for me...I woke up this morning with a migraine and bad sciatica pain, so much so that I could hardly walk Santa. Thankfully, my yoga teacher taught me a pose that, even though it's not easy to get into, is excellent for sciatica (it's called Pigeon Pose). I did a couple pigeons on each leg and the sciatica pain was reduced by 1/2.

D's van broke down in San Francisco yesterday, so he had it towed to his mechanic down here. Thankfully we have AAA. So I picked him up at his mechanic's place last night. He had to rent a car for a few days while his van gets fixed, so we were going to go out for breakfast today after picking up his rental car. But the line was too long...so I had a protein shake for breakfast instead. I know I saved a bunch of calories doing that.

Annie - Happy Birthday to the Lil Man! Sorry to hear that the treatments weren't working for your brother. Saying prayers and healing energy for him.

Happy - Sending some healing energy for you too. I hope you can kick the shingles to the curb soon.

Sorry I can't do more personals...I've got to get showered and ready. My friend Bob invited me to his friend's dog friendly BBQ, and I've got to pick Bob up.

Super quick post for me. This is day 8/11 so I'm on the down hill slide. Yeah I will be doing a happy dance on day 11.

Michelle
I woke up with a headache but I brought the migraine meds just in case. I can't get all the way into the pigeon pose but I find the child's pose does well also.

Happy Sunday everyone,

Temps are starting to step down as the season comes to a close. I should be grateful (and I AM) that we've had the weather we had so far because I think we had snow already by this time last year. We are all bracing ourselves for another punch this year. We ran into town yesterday, did some errands, saw some people. Came home, ate lunch and took a nice nap. I finally started reading one of my library books last night (after twice renewing it ) Today is killed working in the shop - DH is taking a ride to the state park, wish I could go to but I committed to this. Oh and they had an early Christmas / holiday bazaar at the Senior Center yesterday. I got a couple of those handy dish towels with the knitted top I hang on my upper cabinet. It's convenient to wipe your hands off when working in the kitchen and avoids drippy floors. I got some holiday motif ones.

Ceejay - I'll bet you must be close to dragging along the ground after a week of 12 hour shifts. I certainly don't envy you at all. I hope you find the strength for 3 more days of this. Are you at least off for a day or two afterwards?

Michelle - thanks for the tip on the yoga pose. Apparently you remember the various pose names and what they are for. They leave me the minute I walk out of the gym. BUMMER that you are having double car troubles. Going to be a tight month money wise I suppose. Hopefully they are cheap and easy repairs. What did they serve at the BBQ - bones on the grill??? sorry I couldn't resist. That's nice that you are in a crowd that is so pet friendly.

Annie - happy birthday to Lil Man hard to believe he's 3 already. Had to smile at your comment about working and fretting about getting the job. Been there and it's SO HARD when you are waiting to believe that things will happen when the time is right. In my opinion it's one of the blackest times a mind can know. BUT - now you are off and running again - so good to hear you like it. I can relate to your comment about jamming all these new things in your head. When I first started my last job it was completely different and I found myself stumbling a lot which was a shock to me. I was very bummed out and feeling quite old and incompetent. However, it just took a little bit longer to stick and once it did - off to the races. You will be just fine as you have underlying skills that can't be taught and make you such a valued employee. My sister is also buying a snowblower this year - she broke 2 snow shovels she said. It's good to be prepared, especially now that you are back working again and have less time.

Shad - did you see in the news they found a spider that was even bigger than yours? Uggggggghhhhhhh!!!!!!!

Good morning to the rest of the Worldlies enjoying their Sunday. I gotta get my stuff together and take it on the road. Bye.

Susie ~ Yeah I agree men clean differently then women do. Yeah it is nice to get out of the house and I'm glad Scott and I had a nice time at his nephew's house. I'm glad my migraine went away too and that I'm feeling better now.

Annie ~ Yep I sure will focus on me and do what is right for me.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I woke up at my normal time this morning of 5 a.m. As always I let Clyde outside and I gave him fresh food and he already had fresh water and I've ate breakfast and lunch. Mom is making beef and bean chili for dinner tonight cause its getting cooler during the day now. Its starting to finally feel like fall. Anyway as always I'm gonna get my 30 min to hour evening walk done and I'm gonna get my 2 miles with my dvd later on tonight also and thats it.
I'm catching my "breath" so to speak. The guy who works with the tanks levels was here today and has us back up running the way I like to operate with feet of water instead of pressure.
Started hunting my truck key last night before I went home. Found it in the ignition and it was still in the on position. I had gone downstairs to roll down a window and forgot to take out the key. Didn't really know whom to call so I called the water/sewer stand by man. My coworker didn't have jumper cables. He came. He couldn't get it to start with the jumpers but used something they had for the bigger trucks. It then turned over the battery. He told me to keep it running for 30 minutes and I did. Drove around town for thirty minutes. It started this morning. I knew I was tired yesterday but good grief. We are having great fall weather this week. I turned the heater on at the apartment last night but I didn't hear it come on.
Happy
I'm tired but not nearly as draggy as I've been in the past. I've been taking my b12 regularly this week. Think this is helping. Did the doctor say how long the shingles would last? Bones on the grill
Annie
Aw J. is 3. Doesn't seem possible. Good vibes are going to your brother concerning his cancer.
Susie
I'm with you on camping. I'll take the Holiday Inn any day.
Evening all.
Just a short post tonight as I am not feeling 100% and hopefully will be better tomorrow. Haven't eaten much but have the worst indigestion ever. Worse some of it has shifted down to the gut and will no doubt let me know about that tomorrow. Sorry if that is too much information.
Wish someone could make it rain. The weather forecast promised 60% chance of rain today and tomorrow, but there isn't a cloud in the sky. Hasn't been for days. and the temps are climbing. Conditions are coming right for a horrendous bush fire season. Hope it doesn't happen.
Anyway I am off to lie down and have a large drink of water. Catch you all tomorrow.
Morning all.
Michelle - Hope you & D got your vehicles taken care of by now. Can't be without cars in CA!
Happy - Sorry to hear about the shingles diagnosis. I'm glad the pain isn't as bad as it could be. Nice find with the suede jacket!
Hi minidoodles - Welcome! I'm struggling with my weight loss journey. I got pretty close to my goal, but have started going the wrong way as of late. I'm trying to reverse now.
Shad- I hope you’re feeling better soon. The photo of the machine is more the size I thought for someone to use for a smaller project like yours vs a major earth mover. Re the shellfish tools - yup, seen the cracker & the picks...the things we do.
Think I'm gonna finish this via cut & paste later. Typing on this phone is driving me nuts! Be back later.
Mornin' chicks,
Another Monday rolls around again. No wonder the year is flying by. I worked yesterday - there were a lot of browsers and we made just under $100 in sales. I did a lot of cleaning at the shop. Sometimes I wish they'd be a little more organized with planning things. Some of the other ladies talked about cleaning the place but it was more of a casual in passing comment... It certainly was easier to clean yesterday with it being more quiet than during the week. Now that the heat is on, it gets more dusty I think. After my shift we headed out to a bar we frequent - more for the burgers than the drinks Our favorite bartender - the ex-Australian was having a bad time and we had a good, supportive conversation. At one point we were talking about food and she said if DH and I got to Australia and DIDN'T have the best burger in the world - burger, sliced pineapple and beetroot - that she'd personally come back and whack us up side the head. No condiments, no cheese but she said it was awesome. And that those Aussies sure do like their beet(roots). Not THIS Yank tho - never met a beet I liked and I'm fairly open about eating choices.
I am taking my medicine and my eye area is clearing up. I do get stabs of pain from the shingles I guess but it's nothing I can't handle and it dissipates after a few minutes. I need to get my act together - there is less going on this week so I need to get organized and get some things done. I received a summons for jury duty the 2nd week of November. It's in town so no hassle there. DH said he wouldn't mind doing it so I said he could pretend he was me and go in my place That's about it for me.
Laura - I'm not sure I could do postings off of my phone. I tried to read email when I first got my iTOUCH and I hated it. So bravo for you typing as much as you did. Are you still looking to expand your autumn wardrobe? Things should start to go on sale soon. I'm having a hard time finding some warmer / thermal long sleeved tops for yoga and wearing around the house. Everything is being made so thin now. Which is fine for a layer under a fleece pullover but not so great if you want to wear it alone.
Shad - stomach issues again? I find some ginger tea helps with that - add an extra slice of fresh ginger at the bottom of the tea cup. You seem to have picked up a bug that comes back for round 2 or 3. I hope you can kick it. Rest up and leave the chores for mid week.
Ceejay - poor lady - are you dragging and silly yet? I would be SO TIRED working your shift. Actually I'm surprised they allow that because after a while the brain has to get foggy but then again, when you don't have many people on staff I guess there's no other choice. I just think that's too many 12 hour days in a row. Oh foo on the car! I did that once - wore down the battery and apparently all it needs is 30 minutes of the car running to recharge it back up again. Glad someone was around to help you out.
Terra - chili sounds really good. You may have given me an idea for supper tonight - thanks!
Hello to the rest of the Worldlies I really need to get off the computer. DH talked about doing a fire in the ring outside tonight. That would be nice. Maybe I'll find a recipe for a nice hot drink to enjoy while we are sitting there. Have a good Monday.
Morning (again).*
Ceejay – Three more days of work for you if my count is correct.* Glad the vit. B-12 is helping you.* Hang in there!!* What a PITA with your car battery dying, but I’m glad you got help to get it going again.*
Terra – I’m glad you had a nice visit w/ your bf’s nephew and his wife.* How was the chili last night?* It’s so good to have things like chili and stews and soups when the weather cools down.* Oh, by the way…HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!! * * Any more celebrations this week??
Susie – Glad you made it through the training last week.* What’s up for this week?* I agree with you about looking pulled together – even when the dress code is more casual.* How was your visit to the corn maze?* Did you actually do the maze, or just pick out some pumpkins?* I’ve never done a corn maze and want to someday.*
Annie – Glad you’re enjoying your new job and all its challenges!* I do like getting immersed in projects and having the day fly by!* I agree with you about not wanting to get on the computer at home after spending all day in front of it.* Sorry the chemo didn’t help your brother.* I hope and pray the shots continue to hold the cancer in check!!* Happy belated b-day to little J.* Can’t believe he’s 3 y.o. already!!* How did the party go?* I’m sure the food was a hit.* Ha, I love those orange chips (aka Doritos) too!!!* I’m glad you’re getting a snow blower – it makes quick(er) EASIER work of clearing the driveway and paths, and if it turns out you don’t get the snow, even better!!* It’s like insurance – you don’t want to not have it, and you don’t really want to have to use it!*
Michelle – Sorry you had a migraine and the sciatic pain.* I hope both have eased up by now!*
==
My weekend was fine.* On Friday I had the annual CPR training in the morning at work – that was fine and I’m good to go for the year.* I ended up taking a later lunch because of that training and unfortunately by then it was already clouding up again, so I didn’t get much sunshine at lunch.*
Bf and I both bought something from craigslist over the weekend.* We don’t have a double oven or a second stove in our basement, so I decided I wanted a Nesco roaster to occasionally supplement our oven.* I found a big 18 quart one on CL for $20 and bf picked it up on Friday.* It’ll be nice to use it next summer for bf’s ribs – they bake in the oven for 3 hours, so we usually don’t want to make those during the summer because it heats up the house.* I imagine using the Nesco probably saves energy over heating up the entire oven?* Any of you have experience with one of these electric roasters?
Bf’s purchase was a piano.* He’s bought and sold many pianos and keyboards in his life, so this is nothing new.* On Friday night I stayed home and did a BE workout while he went out to look at the piano.* What’s different about this one is that it has a muting bar that definitely quiets the sound – that’ll be really nice when he plays at night.** This piano is rather compact (it’s an upright model) and fits nicely in the corner of our living room, but we did end up moving one easy chair into another room.* The chair actually looks really nice in the front bedroom (guest/sewing room) – it’s nice to see it whenever I pass by that room.*
I went to Jazzercise on Saturday morning and took it easy.* My back felt okay.* Afterwards I went home, showered and headed back out to pick up my contact lenses and meet my friend B for breakfast.* At the restaurant, the fire alarm went off!* It blared loudly for about 5 minutes before the fire department arrived to shut it off.* We didn’t have to evacuate or anything…I didn’t know the fire dept. is the only one that can shut down the alarm.* Huh.* Anyway, breakfast was fine.* Just when we were leaving the restaurant, I smelled burnt toast and told B we should hurry and get out before the alarm went off again, LOL.*
Other than that, the weekend was uneventful.* The usual laundry and dog walks and housework.* I also got out in the yard for a bit on Sunday to remove my two tomato plants and pull up the weed fabric from the veg patch.* It would have been nice to turn the soil in preparation for next year, but with all the rain we had last week, the soil was still pretty wet and digging it would have turned it into giant clumps.* I also cut back the phlox foliage from the “mish-mash” garden bed.* The daylily foliage is still very much alive and green – didn’t do anything with it.*
I also emptied out the window box planters and tossed those out – they were flimsy dollar store purchases and a couple had cracks.* I’m lucky I got two seasons out of them.*
That’s enough of my rambling for now.* Everyone have a good week.*
