Good morning all,

I don't have time to post this morning - did a few things this morning which took up my computer time. Today is our lunch at the Brazilian steak house - I'm sure several of us (like me) are skipping the meat and just doing the salad bar. Should be fun if the rain doesn't move in and spoil our party. I will try and sneak in later to post. The clock is ticking and the days are starting to fly by.

Later

Good Morning/Night Chickies....

I made fresh autumn spice coffee in the breakroom this morning, not only is it delish, it makes this place smell good. Stop on by and join me for a cup.

Was so swamped over yesterday at work. Even stayed later than norm. Blah. I did make it over to the hospital at lunch to see baby Jake. He has finally gained back to his birth weight, off the IV and billirubin (sp) light (for jaundice). His coloring is perfect and seems to be catching onto things. Still forgetting to breath every once in a while, that freaks me out. He is up to an ounce (30 mil) per feeding. He has to gain a bit more weight and go 5 days without forgetting to breath before he can some home. Doc is guessing maybe by the end of November. Yeah! Samantha is doing well with her breast pumping and may actually get to breast feed baby Jake by the weekend. She has about 12 more pounds to go to be back at pre-Jake weight. She is looking awesome and proving out to be an excellent mommie thus far. I am so very proud of her. Chris (baby daddy) is doing such an awesome job of taking care of Sam and the babe. He is so into it. That does my heart good.

Now that I passed my insurance licensing test, I applied for my license on-line yesterday, that takes a couple of weeks because Indiana is still reviewing my app. Here is one for you...if you are 3 months or 3000 dollars behind on child support, you cannot get your license. Thought that was odd but yet a good thing. My ex would never have gotten his license as he still owes me 12K, yes 12K. Not worth the cost of lawyer, courts etc as he has no money and you cannot get blood from a turnip.

HAPPY....sounds like you are wrapping stuff up to get on with the move. I wish you could take Mr. Feral with you. We left behind our outside cat and we missed her like the dickens, however she is one of the cats that me and the kids watched being born in my laundry room. I am sure she is long gone by now as she would have been around 15 this year. That is pretty long for a wilderness cat to live.

CEEJAY...I can remember Snuffy Smith but not the cartoons or comics, and I do not remember the character Tater. I will have to google that one. Have fun in Jonesboro Friday, altho unless you have some adult beverages, that moving thing is no fun.

LAURA...I agree with SHAD, just pitch it and get a new one...the cost of a new one will outweigh the frustration of fixing the old one. Listen here missy, time to knuckle down and get on a healthy eating plan. Listen to me...ha. This is a rough time of year to be dieting...Halloween, Thanksgiving, then Christmas and New Years...blah.

CHELLE...Yuck on the congestion. Glad you are feeling better tho. Take good care of yourself and get plenty of rest and drink lots of water. We don't need you down and out AGAIN. When you get ready to move to that warmer climate (CA) let me know, I may go with. How's the yellowjacket situation, anymore stragglers? Oh and how are the doggies?

MELLIE...Meeting day for you..blah. If you are the only healthy one in the office, GO BACK HOME!!!! You don't need to get contaminated and sick from all the sicklies. Poof..I just threw up the anti-germ screen around you, nothing can enter it. Hope the meetings are short ones for you. and I love how when you take control of the men and get them off on their assignments...

SHADDIE...another day, another dollar...right..more like another day another bit of change. Hope you could get a flight out and get home. That just sucks. How about NUTTIN NASTY IN NOVEMBER FOR THE WORLDLIES???

Best be gettin on with this. Have a marvelous day/night.

Loves and hugs.

Morning all.

Shad - sorry you can't get a flight home due to the strike. Boo!!!!

Mel - Hope you don't pick up any germs in the office.

Ceejay - Sorry you have to fill in for L. I wouldn't like my schedule to unexpectedly change like that.

Michelle - For some reason I didn't see the photo when I first read your post. I wonder when we'll learn if they broke that record.

Happy - Enjoy your lunch today - is tomorrow your LAST DAY OF WORK???!!!

Annie - Glad the little guy is making progress. End of November sounds like a long time, but I'm sure it'll fly by. You and Shad are right about the iron. If I need it and it doesn't work even one more time I'll be ticked, so better to just buy another. They are expensive though, so I have to decide if I want to go the pricey route or the basic route. I occasionally sew, and that's when a nice iron comes in handy...

Have I forgotten anyone???
===
Yesterday I walked home from the train (since I got dropped off in the AM) and that was nice. I like those walks when the sidewalks are clear. I also took doggy for a walk in the dark. Gosh he needs a lighted collar or that reflective vest I mentioned buying!

I also did a BE workout, so I got my exercise after work.

This afternoon is a fundraising event in which I'm participating on a team of 5 that is supposed to be similar to The Amazing Race, and there are 6 other teams we'll compete against. I'm hoping it's nothing too physical in terms of the "missions" we'll be performing in the area downtown around our office. Maybe it'll be more like a treasure hunt instead. Those I'm familiar with. Wish me luck! Oh, and cross your fingers for better weather! My umbrella went kaput this morning, but good thing it wasn't raining much (just sprinkles) and I have my lightweight water-resistant windbreaker with me.

Re the umbrella - Totes has a lifetime warranty and so if I send $5 and the umbrella to them, I will get a new one. I can't recall how much they cost (it's one of those compact ones) - maybe it's not worth the $5 and the cost of mailing it to them. Hmmm.

Shad
I just learned this morning that I do not have to work Friday and Saturday. I keeping myself at home to finish up some odd jobs I have going on. Shame on those baggage handlers. Hope their problems are resolved soon. You need some much needed down time.

Mel
Did the flu shots make every one sick?

Annie
Hope baby Jake is doing well enough to go home soon. My nephew's baby had jaundice. I would be frightening to see a baby stop breathing even for a split second. As my sister would say you will be a bonefied licensed insurance rep very soon.

Happy
Enjoy your luncheon.

I don't think I'll go to Jonesboro tomorrow. I really need to be at home finishing up some odd jobs and finally have the land lord come out to the apartment to take care of some things.

Laura...I think you can get the Totes umbrella from Walmart for like 10 bucks or less.

Ceejay...Sometimes it is just nice to stay home.

Went to the hospital at lunch, I got to hold baby Jake for a few minutes. First time. He is so sweet. I fell even more in love with him, if that is possible. I cried, he did not. Go figure! Samantha also breast fed for the first time. Lil Monkey took his oz thru the feed tube, then breast fed for 25 minutes. Oink....glad tho, he will grow even more.

My heart is smiling today. My momma is looking down on all of us keeping us safe. Wish she was here. She would of loved this.

Hugs...

Ceejay - Glad you get Fri and Sat off to take care of personal business.

Annie - I think Jake's gonna gain weight as fast as he can so he can go home w/ Mom & Dad ASAP!!
===
Just finished the fundraising event about a half hour ago. It was fun, but I feel rather gross and sweaty now because I was overdressed and we were doing a lot of brisk walking to get to our locations (we walked to 4 of the 5 locations).

Tonight I'm making the cranberry-orange bread for Friday's book club. Other than that, probably nothing. Maybe throw in a load of wash and do another BE workout since I'm already in need of a shower.

TTYL!

Good Morning/Night all ya'll.....

GO CARDS! Yeah...what a game....one more time boys, one more time!

Let me know if you all get sick of hearing about baby Jake...I am just so amazed by him. He gained 10 grams over night. 30 grams is an ounce. It is not much but we take what we can get. Docs think maybe, with fingers crossed he may get to come home Thanksgiving. Sam would of been 37 weeks at that point.

MELLIE...yeah, deliquent fathers suck. There is THAT reason also why they are X's. Plus a menagerie of other reasons too many to type. Bunch of A-holes. Better keep the forcefield up even if the seniors ailments are in their heads, you are what you hang with, and you, too, may get head issues...lolol

Hidee Ho to all the rest of yuns. Have a terrific Friday/Saturday. Will check back later if I get a chance.

Hugs.

Annie
Keep those Baby Jake stories coming. I'm so happy that hs is making progress. What does Curtis think of the new baby?

Mel
Tell that siactic nerve to behave itself. I have an aunt with that problem and she suffers too.

Laura
Save me a piece of that cranberry orange bread. What a good fall treat!

Michelle
Any plans this week end that doesn't involve work?

Happy
How was the lunch?

Still raining this morning. We really need it.
Thought I heard my phone get a text message this morning but when I checked all I found was an old voice message from the doctor's office which reminded me that it's time for a b12.

Morning all. TGIF!!!!

Mel – Hope the sciatica is under control again and that Annie’s germ guard is still in place when you go down to the office!! I heard about the forecast for snow out east – oh nooooooooo!!! (Mel, remember the claymation Mr. Bill on SNL? He always said that right before he got smooshed, heehee). Yeh, doggie and I both need bright stuff to wear. Must go shopping!!

Annie – Yeh, I got a good workout with all that walking yesterday. No, we don’t get tired of hearing Jake stories!! Keep ‘em coming! A Thanksgiving homecoming for baby would be so special!! Prayers out for that! I went to bed while bf was still watching the ball game, so I was wondering how it turned out... The Cards are still alive! What a matchup. It must have been so cold during last night’s game. I’m not surprised by all the errors - how can your hands work when they’re numb???!!! All because of the greed and the extra $$ made from an extra-long season.

Ceejay – There always seems to be leftovers from the book club snacks because there’s always so much food there, so I’ll save you a slice for sure.

Shad – Hope you’ve still got your lodgings if you’ve been forced to stay where you are this weekend. If not, here you go:

Michelle – Come on up for air! Hope this weekend isn’t quite as busy with work stuff for you!!!

Happy – Is today the day??? Are you sleeping in today, or did you dash right off to work, anxious to get this last day over with??

==
Made my cranberry-orange bread last night – it smelled delish as it was baking. What a combo, and I decided to double the cranberries and I also upped the quantity of pecans. too I suggested to bf that I pre-slice it all so we could have a slice to taste, lol, but he said I should just bring home the leftovers for him… Darn. Over the past six months I've had a couple cranberry muffins from the restaurant in our building, and they are sorely lacking in cranberries, so I've been completely jonesing for something chock full of cranberries. Hope I'm not disappointed when I finally get to eat a slice of this bread. Okay, enough food porn.

I also did a load of laundry, but didn’t do any BE last night. My muscles are still fatigued from the past couple days of BE workouts, so they need a rest.

I finally took the time to put more air in my bicycle tires this morning, and boy, did it make a difference! Less drag on the road made for an easier ride for me. Shoulda done it last week! Next week is iffy for the bike – it’s getting so dark now, and I don’t have any lights on this bike. Need to ask bf to put them on there. Even so, it’ll be the last week regardless. Next Sunday (11/6) is the time change, and after that it’ll be really dark. That’s when I start walking to/from the train.

So I’ve got my book club tonight. Tomorrow I want to go to an exercise class, then I need to do some errands, including Walmart, the shoe store, and the pet supply store. Sat. night will be dinner & karaoke. Sunday is completely open – yay!!

TTFN!

Hi there ladies,
Today is my last FULL day of working. Monday is my last day – probably only be here a half day, especially when they see me come in with wild Halloween socks (I’m thinking about wearing short “flood” pants to make them extra noticeable as well as my official man’s Halloween tie with the grinning pumpkins. I even got here at 7:30 this morning because DH had an early morning doctor’s appointment and had to drop me off and then drive across town in traffic and rain. The doctor gave him a clean bill of health – said he can stop fussing over taking his blood pressure 15 times a day and go on with his life. The medicine is doing its job. Some of my other coworkers who are with a division that got sold off also left today so lots of goodbyes. It seems sort of surreal to me that this is happening but I am looking forward to Tuesday morning when I can get up when it’s not so dark and cold outside. Well at least not so dark! Days will be longer up north. I’ve got a busy weekend ahead – need to get some paperwork done and start making a list to keep myself focused on the priority things next week. Lunch yesterday was just awesome. I think they reduce the size of the salad bar at lunch just as they offered a more limited selection of meats but what they had was just incredible. And the meat was delicious. I had a plate of meat and a plate of salad / vegetables and enjoyed it all and didn’t feel bloated or sick thought I see how you can get carried away. I told DH we should try and get over there before we leave. It’s just that you have to drive all the way downtown and that in and of itself is a deterrent.
Going to attempt personals – might be hodge podge as I try to catch up with you.
Laura – I would think it would be too dark, cold and wet to be bike riding. Especially with wet leaves on the ground. Your cranberry orange bread sounds delicious – that’s one of the best combinations they ever came up with – and the downfall of me and muffins  Is karaoke still around? My cousin who will be moving up to Wisconsin in early 2012 is into karaoke big time. He’s spent millions of dollars on equipment (well it seems like millions) and thinks everyone should be as excited about it as he is. For me it’s one of those ok, did it once, it was fun now let’s try something else. Hope you find something fun for you to do on Sunday. How nice to have a free day. I hope you did well on your Amazing Race. Sounds like your office does some fun stuff. I’d be stealing ideas if I was staying here longer.
Ceejay – I was disappointed we didn’t get any rain yesterday but then it started late last night and like you, I’m glad because we DO need it. Did you say you were continuing or going to give up the B12 shots? How nice that you have 2 weekend days off. Hope you’re not letting the rain mess up your Friday.
Annie – I am so glad to hear that baby Jake is coming along nicely! Preemies (even today) have a tougher road ahead and it’s great that he is gaining weight. I would hate to leave him in the hospital that long but will be wonderful if he can be home for Thanksgiving. I’m sure all the lovin’ vibes from the ladies in his life will help him grow big and strong That’s so sweet to think of your Mom – I’m sure she would have been luvin’ him too. Just give him a hug for her and I’m sure she will feel it through you.
Mel – sorry to hear about the sciatica – sometimes if you can catch it early and shift yourself, you can stave off the long term pain. Hope it was just a daytime kink for you. That’s not good about the properties going red – means there will be a lot more fights and cuts. I didn’t save you any steak mostly because I didn’t know but I’ll be sneaking a baggie in my purse for the next time.
Shad – I am trying to think of something appropriate for the new thread’s name. We still have a couple of days to ponder on it. Sorry your flight got cancelled – that’s the perils of travelling now. I guess this means no hope of getting back home until next week? Whatever will you do with yourself? As for your question to Michelle on the pumpkin wall, I’ll bet they toss out the insides. I think when you need the shell for decoration, you need the pumpkin stuff too or it will become too weak. They probably toss out the seeds and strings. I tried roasting the seeds once, liked the stuff in the bags better
Michelle – I hope you are feeling better after some Nyquil. I think one of the reasons I am glad we are getting to retire early is as you say – because so many people (like my Dad and Brother and some uncles) never made it to retirement age. My advice though to EVERYONE would be instead of planning to work until 70, you take a hard look at what you are spending now and save as much as you can so that you are not completely wiped out if you walk unsuspectingly into work one day and find that you no longer have a job. The reason we are retiring is because both of us lost our jobs with little hope of getting something else and the only reason we are going to be able to make it is because we had been planning and saving for years. It would have been better financially if I could have worked a few more years but while I might have gotten something, it would not have been enough to sustain us. And I think there are a lot of people in the boat we are in. the fact that we didn’t over extend ourselves on housing like some people I’ve met in the south or keep spending on “toys” well into the late 40’s and beyond has really saved us. I have to laugh at some people here who say they will work until they die – they ASSUME they will keep their jobs. When I started at one job we were the big fish buying the little fish and when I left we had become so fish bloated that we were a prime target for takeover by a much small company. You just never know. Anyway I’ve seen enough in the last 2 years that I would tread cautiously and take nothing for granted. We’ve been told by a number of people including bankers and real estate folks that it’s almost miraculous we sold our house so quickly – lots of financial troubles out there.
Oh Lordy, haven’t I painted a gloom and doom scenario? The world has become a scary place to me…
Anyway Michele I hope you can get some rest and enjoy part of the weekend. I’m sure you are still busy with work. Hope the shot works for DH too.
They had some light snow at the new house yesterday but it melted quickly. It’s a coming though. And I’d better get back to work. Could really use a nap though…

No I'm not giving up the b12 injections. My body is to low ono b12. I'm taking regular b12 tablets even though the nurse today told me that the injections get into the system faster.
I would love to retire next year but really don't see that happening. I want to work mainly for mental health.
