Justwantt2Bhealthy, that is a great idea on the apple with maple syrup and cinammon. Sounds so yummy! Congrats on finding this new exercise! Anyway you move will help! Unfortunately, my new job is sitting for a very long time. Another reason to get up early and do some exercise.

Maddie, thanks for the tips on looking on kijiji. That is a wonderful idea. I could probably find some cheaper options on equipment. It sounds like you have a houseful of cardio equipment to choose from. I don't blame you. The winters are freezing!

2b125, have a great shift! Good luck on the exercise!

Welcome back, AuntyJam.. at least Ottawa is not as cold as Alberta. I don't feel so bad now. I'd die living in Alberta. :) Yes, hockey season is starting really soon. Woohoo!

Congrats snowbound on cutting back on the Pepsi. I find little setbacks are okay, as long as you get back on track later.

Number8.. You are so lucky you work from home and you have a treadmill in your apartment! Where in Canada are you located?

I'm amazed at how well I'm doing on this new points system through WW. I am going on day 5 tomorrow, and weight in on Monday. I'm staying on points, and learning about portion sizes, and what to eat to reach my points. It is all so new, but my body is adjusting. I'm surprised I don't have any cravings except today I went to walmart and picked up some skinnycow ice-cream sandwiches which are only 2 points per sandwich. I was ecstatic and had two today already. I also found Fibre1 bars which are filled with fiber and are a great snack. Now, I need to up my exercise to compliment the diet.

Have a great weekend everyone! We can do it!

Geez - I haven't been here in 3 days and I had almost 4 pages to read - good going girls! Love the activity on the boards.

Cinm - I know I am late here but welcome! I find Walmart here is crappy as well for fitness videos - I got my Jillian Michaels one off of amazon.ca - maybe try them? They have lots to pick from. And the stuff comes quick too. I've ordered lots from them and never had an issue.

Well, I bit the bullet and joined TOPS again on Wednesday night. I used to be a leader years ago so it felt good to get back to something I know and enjoy. I am by myself so for me it's also a night out of the house around other people. Right now I am basically counting calories and keeping track using myfitnessplanner.com. I like that site better than fitday for me anyway.

It is getting colder here now too. I took the AC out of my bedroom window and the one in the living room window is coming out this week. I'd do it this weekend but my spare room looks more like a bomb went off than a spare room so I have to fix it up a bit to make a spot for the AC. I am in a mini-home so no basement. My spare room is my storage room too.

I'll be going for a walk later this afternoon. It'll be nice as its been raining here all week. Kinda nice to see the sun!

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Alannah

Thought I would chime in on the oatmeal. I buy high fiber porridge. It is oatmeal but also has flax seeds and other high fiber stuff mixed in.
Almost every weekday I measure 1/4 cup dry into a Tupperware container and take it to work, and then nuke it. Then I top it with Source vanilla yogurt and frozen blueberries. Super yummy and healthy and it holds me until lunch.

Alannah, good for you for going back to Tops. I was a member a long time ago.

Jojo, I have also had a lot of sucess on Weight Watchers in the past (just calorie counting this time around). It is a good program, basically just simplified calorie counting.

Hi to everyone! Have a good weekend!

Cinm 09-18-2010 10:44 PM

Ya wal mart is pretty crappy found them yesterday at future shop got 3 going to start the 30 day shred with weights monday.Got my walk in today not to fast as the first walk had a 4 year oldwith me.Got a second one in a little faster but again had a 9 and 11 year old with me and they complain enough about a walk!

How many times a week can you eat eggs?.

Number8 09-19-2010 12:50 PM

~*Snowbound*~ awesome job on the pop-quitting! It took me about a month before I didn't miss it anymore. Now a few years later If I do have some it's the smallest available serving and I usually can't finish it! I used to drink it by the liter!

~*JoJo*~ I am from Newfoundland living in Toronto

as for the walmart stuff- I'm not much for exercise videos but the one near me does have lost of little free weights and stuff there, and they have the cheapest trail mix anywhere :D So they're not all bad :)

I had a little cheat day yesterday but managed to just squeak in under my 'maintenance calorie intake' So I don't feel guilty but I do feel crappy! I stuck to oatmeal and really wimpy soup all day because I was going out with a friend I hadn't seen in a while that night and I knew we would end up eating something horrible for us! Today I feel like a piece of jerky! I have already had a liter of water and it's only 1. At least I stuck to just drinking water while I was out! I think my body is fighting back!
Back to the good stuff now, eating some mushroom soup :).

MaddieD 09-20-2010 07:22 AM

Cindie...I eat about 6-8 eggs a week. I know it can be frustrating because one study says don't eat more than 4 a week...others say 7 and others say as many as you want. There is always a study to tell you to DO something and another to tell you NOT to!!!!

Busy day here to get caught up from the weekend. One good thing about having kids in school is that I have all day Monday to get caught up but the bad thing is...we spend all weekend getting caught with with kid stuff.

Cinm 09-20-2010 09:28 AM

Good morning Ladies!
Well I lost 2 lbs in 5 days woohoo (its a start):carrot: first time the scaled moved since I started.I have walked everyday since starting.I didn't walk my fast walk on the weekend cause of kids with me but that's ok still got out and moved. This am did my fast walk and got my videos at futurshop and started the 30day shred with weights today almost killed me lol..I got through the 25 minutes however and was I sweating and soaked when I was done. Also sore I felt the pain walking up the stairs should be interesting to see what I feel like when I wake up in the am.I have been doing really good with food have been cooking recipes off this site we had eggplant parmesan last night even my 11 year old liked it that is saying allot.

Maddie~Ya every where I read says different my problem is I find I need something with lots of protein in the morning so I don't get a migraine. Now that I am working out I definatly need it also.Have a good day today!

Snowbound =Congrats on your accomplishment I know how hard that is.I did it a couple of months back to decrease my migraines I have now cut juice out also.I would only drink Ice tea at supper but now cutting that out also.

Number8=I think we all cheat once in a while.Mmmm mushroom soup

SnowboundChick 09-20-2010 11:03 AM

I woke up with a sore throat and I feel really groggy and tired. I may be staying home today but I have laundry to dry today. My dryer crapped out a month ago and my replacement doesn't get his till this Friday. But at least it will be here. It's hard to go with out for a family of 5, sometimes 6.

The weekend was okay, well Sunday was okay. I ate too many hotdogs and had too much cake on saturday. I wonder if I will ever be able to get through a birthday party!

Been drinking lots of water, taking my vitamins and not drinking pop. I did have a little sip yesterday and I'm just lucky it didn't make me want more!

Still working on getting the exercise is. I've been getting a better sleeping pattern going by going to bed early and waking up early. This is when I hope to get the exercise in.

MaddieD 09-20-2010 01:51 PM

Yay Cindie for being down2 pounds!

Donna...I know you probably don't want to hear this but your sore throat etc is a VERY good thing! I'm willing to be that you are going through "yeast die-off". Everyone has some yeast in their body...but if you eat a lot of sugar stuff...chances are you have more than usual. So when you stop eating as much sugar....no food for the yeasties...they starve and die off. But...when they die, they release some toxins so our body fights it off and yes you get a sore throat, feel tired and will probably start coughing up gunk. Depending on how many are dying...you may also have a few tummy troubles too. Just an fyi! Keep drinking lots of water and if you want the bubbly feeling...try half soda water and half juice. Still gives you that sensation but way more healthy. As for birthday parties...I say you still should enjoy them...afterall...they don't happen everyday! ;)

Number8...funny how once we cut out the junk...when we do eat it,we end up feeling like junk! Last night I accidently drank some pre-sweetened chocolate almond milk....OMG was it ever sweet! I usually buy the unsweetened and add maple syrup....and wow...what a huge difference!

Rosebud...where are you?

Gotta run as the bus should be here asap...

SnowboundChick 09-20-2010 04:18 PM

Thanks Maddie. That is very helpful to know but I had sugar on Saturday, so not sure that's what it is but it's a good reference for the future as I continue to give up the sugar.

Justwant2Bhealthy 09-20-2010 08:44 PM

I'M HERE, MADDIE ~ just been busy the last few days; we went up to our lot on Friday and I overdid it as I likely already mentioned ... paid with very sore musculs for a couple of days, but I am thrilled that I can use the battery weed whacker; this may be a good aerobic exercise for me and I really like gardening and such (yard work).

Some ladies stopped by yesterday; and today, and were admiring my flowers and gardens; they couldn't believe that I still have gladiolas, daylilies, dianthus, brown-eyed Susans, and beans all blossoming right now; and it's the 20th of September! I appreciated the compliments though. :D

I picked another small bunch of beans today; enuff for dinner, but I added a few carrots, broccoli, and a bit of knib corn too. WE had Shepherd's pie for dinner ... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!! Do I luv it? Ya, baby!

I spent all last evening reading a preview of the THIN WITHIN book; I really enjoyed it and and will try to get it. It is a Christian based plan written by a doctor-nurse/ husband & wife team, Judy & Arthur Halladay.

Saturday, I did some laundry and baked a nice banana loaf for snacks, esp for DH who had already devoured half of it by yesterday afternoon -- oh well, at least, he liked it ...

SNOWBOUND ~ too bad you live so far away; I have an extra dryer here that's like new that you could have had. DH put it in my shed yesterday, as I wanted to protect it. Will keep it for a spare for now, but after awhile, if it isn't needed, I will donate it to goodwill. Hope your new one arrives real soon; esp for the winter ... I like to do my toning exercises upon waking; I never put them off this way.

NUMBER 8 ~ usually on Friday nights, we have our favorite fun dinner; keep the day light and try to keep under my maintenance calorie cap for that day. It keeps me from feeling deprived of my favorite fun meals. We had baked fish & chips with a salad (for me) this past week.

 CINDIE ~ congrats on the 2 lb loss and for getting those walks in anyways. We have had gorgeous weather the last 3 days; like fall-spring days ... BTW, that was a great picture of the bear, esp since it was so dark out too!

JUDY ~ yes, it is nice to see so much activity here; I had to read lots today too ... phew!

ALANNAH ~ my spare room is our house storage and extra closet, sewing room, laundry room, etc too.

JOJO ~ yesterday, with dinner, I baked up some apples with rhubarb and a handful of raisins. I often do this when the oven is on with whatever fruit I have on hand or in the freezer.

Time to go make my evening drink -- though it is usually tea, think I'll have a mocha-coffee tonight for a change. Have a great week everyone ... Rosebud :flow2:

Hi Ladies!

Congratulations, Cindie on your weight loss in five days! That's awesome!

Snowbound, I hope you are feeling better soon!

I'm pretty happy right now. I just did my weekly weigh in after 1 week on the WW program and lost 2.5 pounds. At least I know what I'm doing is working and I know what I want to do this week just to tweak the program and up the exercise. I was afraid to get on the scale because I wanted it to move so bad. I'm glad it did!

I wish all you ladies a great week! We can do it!

Justwant2Bhealthy 09-20-2010 09:17 PM

JOJO ~ congrats to you too; that is awesome for one week really ... :carrot:

Cinm 09-21-2010 09:16 AM

Good morning ladies!

Well no Jillian Michaels video for me today I am so sore just walking it's unreal. She says you should wait till you are not sore before working out again(so I am thinking a day or two)My hamstrings are on fire :(.I did do my walk how ever this am not as fast as usual but still did it :).I did good yesterday kept my calorie intake at 1100 and even had a small piece of cake :^:.It amazes me just how good I feel in general since changing how I eat and exercise.:D

Donna~Hope you are feeling better today:hug:

Justwant2Bhealthy~that's great all your plants are still growing.I am not a green thumb at all.The only thing I can grow is tiger lily's(lol):D I can keep kids and animals alive:D

JoJo~Congrats on your 2.5lbs:carrot:that's great.

Jojo381972 09-21-2010 12:49 PM

Thanks ladies! It is hard to believe how up I felt last night, and then today I woke up feeling sickish. Just lazy and cold coming on. I think I'll be vegging out for most of the day because I called in sick today. I know I won't be eating too much really. I hate feeling so unmotivated today. Bleh! I know I need to do groceries, but it'll have to wait till tomorrow. Hope all you ladies are having a good day/week!

I hope everyone is keepin' on!
