:happ3:Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! Sorry I am so late... We had quite a day here.
We went to do our groceries and when we got back, neither myself nor my bf had the keys on us to get into our apartment:eek:!! The door has an automatic lock on it so we forgot our key inside the apartment. Our landlord was out also but we ended up getting a hold of his daughter in the end. We waited for about 2 hours before we could get in. Luckily we had extra baby bottles and formula on us! Needles to say we didn't end up having a Thanksgiving lunch or dinner, we were just thankful to have been able to get in the house. Glad to hear everyone is doing well! |
Hahaha Jojo it's true, those turkeys look like they've just had a pot of coffee each. So funny.
Welll...I'm proud to say that on the weekend I did have some turkey, but I skipped all the fixings and had a giant portion of salad with it, and no dessert. Which wasn't all that bad, as I discovered. I overate yesterday a bit but there you go. Not all that bad. We also went for two walks which was great and helped with feeling better about it. I'm back in my little office and need to finish a paper today but I wanted to check in and read what people did for thanksgiving. It looks like we all did well! Nice work chickies! Everyone have a great day! Tam |
cmof2, sorry to hear about your predicament on Thanksgiving day! Happy to see that you finally able to get in the house. I hope you had a nice meal after all!
greeneggsandtam, congrats on skipping the dessert and going for walks! :) -- I weighed in this morning, and dropped 4 pounds. I was so shocked! I thought I may have gained because of thanksgiving. That makes up for last week when I gained .5. :) I finally joined the gym today!! I will go tomorrow morning! :) Hope you all have a great week! |
Hi all,
Well I have had a terrible cold since last Friday which put a damper on my exercising,It was a head cold and my sinus and head felt like they were going to pop .So no walking or Jillian Michaels for me .I started walking again yesterday and am about to go do my Jillian micelles.Water intake has been really low I had a sore throat and water tasted funny.Well I was down to 196 but I think it was just cause I was sick. This am I was 198.0 so back to my routine again,it is hard to get going I find again but I want to try and reach 189 by the end of the month. Hope everyone is good ! Jojo~that's great :carrot: |
2b125by46- that's a cool tradition, might have to do the sames but I have a few years until the boys are old enough to try. I would like to have them in the kitchen more.
Rose - your leftovers sound yummy. Glad you had a nice dinner. Jojo- giving up dessert is so hard, good for you! Way to go the 4lb loss!! SMo2- sorry you got locked out, hopefully you were still able to have a nice day and maybe do your dinner another day. greeneggs- awesome not eating the fixings, not sure I could do it. Cindie - glad you are feeling better and getting back to it, it's so hard after being sick. I'm doing not so great. Feeling really tired lately because I can't sleep because I haven't been feeling well and am on antibiotics right now. So I just feel lousy. Thanksgiving was good I didn't overeat at the meals but I ate too much pumpkin pie in between, i think I had 3 pieces over the last 3 days with cool whip. I made ham and scalloped potatoes on Monday and no one was coming so I didn't rush to clean or cook and then my Mom and Dad showed up with my niece and nephew so I feel kinda dumb. It all turned out though and we ate by 6:15pm. |
Donna - I want ham now. I hope you are feeling better! Antibiotics are weird aren't they? They've wreaked havoc with my system when I've had to take them too!
Jojo - I love goiing to the gym. Some days more than others, but I think that's normal. I love that feeling that you're doing something so good for yourself and no one can mess with that feeling! Cindie - Feel better! You can reach that goal for sure! I am at the uni again and I have a tonne of reading to do! I managed to straggle into the gym this morning but all those lunges and squats last week made me so sore. My husband was giggling at my wincing every time I sat down or crossed my legs. I took one look at that instructor today and my butt hurt just looking at her. lol. I haven't had lunch today and I have no change. I usually go a little overboard at dinner time. It's so silly that I think I'm going to starve when I'm not. I'll go and find an apple and quit complaining. Everyone have a lovely day!! Tam |
DONNA ~ I'm sure your family was understanding with you working full-time; and with 3 young, energetic boys, to boot -- I think you gals are all trying to be SUPERWOMEN!!! Plus you had a cold on top of that! Gee, you need to give yourself a bit of a break ... your dinner sounded great too! Forget about the pie: count that as your snacks, and a good maintenance weekend -- now, today is another day! ;)
That dinner is so easy to make; good for busy families too. I had some boneless pork chops (center cut) and boneless, skinless chicken breasts ... so I cut them in strips about 1" wide x 3" long. I layered them in a pan with a large chopped onion and poured our favorite BBQ sauce over top with about 1/2 cup each water & V8 juice mixed in. I also sprinkled a minced clove of garlic and a few mushrooms that I had on hand as well. Then you just bake it in the oven at 375F til tender (about 2 hours as they were thawed); we had baked new potatoes along side as well as a separate dish of roasted veggies as I mentioned. It was great! JOJO ~ :congrat: on the 4 lbs -- what a wonderful surprise that is for sure ... let us know how you like the gym experience. CINDI ~ hope you get over your cold soon ... CMO2 ~ bummer on locking yourself out of your home on the holiday: glad you finally got in; maybe need to keep an extra key in your DH's wallet or your purse. My DH kept locking himself out of our car, so he now carries an extra key in his wallet, and I keep one in my purse at all times too! We've never had a problem since ... :D TAM ~ I'm the same; if I don't eat anything during the day, I will just eat too much later on. I felt a bit famished tonight as dinner was late. We had wg spagettini and mini-meatballs tonight. I had a baby cuke salad along side; and added some zucchini, green peppers, and mushrooms to the sauce too. That helps to make me feel a bit fuller. We had a bit of :rain: today but the :sunny: did come out now & then. DH said the temps are dropping fast tonight, so the furnace may come on. Nice & clear here right now, and they are predicting good weather for the rest of the week too. Have a great week ladies ... Rosebud :flow2: |
Good Friday Ladies!
Rosebud! Thanks for the good recipes! I've been trying to avoid the whole winters-a'comin thing but I know you're right. There's been frost on the car this week. I guess I'll just enjoy the sunshine while we can! I am sharing my little victory with you all! I was going to stay home today rather than coming to the city and working out but I thought to myself, no! don't give up. I have rather a habit of giving up once I think I'm in a good groove. So off I went to the Y and i do feel better for it. Small victories, eh? Well I hope everyone will have a great weekend! Tam |
Jojo- Congrats on those 4 lbs!!
Donna- hope your feeling better! Rosebud- That's exactly what we are going to do; I'm going to keep a spare key in my purse! I never want to experience that again. Tam- Good for you for sticking to the gym today! ___________________ I forgot to mention I also got my treadmill on Monday :) I love it. We didn't end up having any sort of Thanksgiving lunch or dinner to make up for the lost one on Monday, which is ok I guess...at least I didn't get tempted to eat anything I shouldn't be eating, so that's on the plus side... and no one else here seemed to mind it. It's been a cold, windy & rainy day here today so I've been feeling a little under the weather but I am going to get on the treadmill in a little while anyway. |
Hey ladies! Yay the weekend is here again! Thanks for the congrats. I certainly feel like I've gained four pounds this week.lol It is the TOM and I really feel bloated and feel like I've gained five pounds. I'm really not expecting to lose much this week, but I said that last week. I'll stay positive instead :)
I joined the gym this week, but sad to say I haven't went yet. I work very long hours, and I need to get up early and go which isn't an easy feat (I will, can do this!! ) My dad is giving me his indoor stationary bike this weekend so I hope I can start doing more exercise again! You girls are inspiring me to get moving! Congrats greeneggsandtam and CMof2 for working out on my behalf. lol. It is rainy and cold here too. :( I hope you feel better, Donna and Cindie! Have a nice weekend everyone! |
Sounds like everyone is doing tickety-boo!
Happy Belated Thanksgiving too! ;) We had potluck at our campground so no dishes to wash and a great variety! I am done one fundraiser and onto the next one which will be done on Thursday. Then I "just" get to help my girls sell girl guide cookies. Heaven help me....I am getting so sick of asking people for money...I could NEVER work full time in sales! lol Past week has been nasty both for food and exercise. Eating on the go and poor choices mean I am feeling run down and have no energy to exercise and the cycle continues. But today I am cutting out the junk today and back to the exercise routine on Monday. I also have decided to weigh myself every 2-3 weeks rather than weekly. I find I get too stressed out when I see a weight gain one day and then freak until it goes down 2 or 3 or 5 days later. As long as my undies are getting looser I'm happy. Won't do personals as I still have another board to check and then laundry to fold. ugh!!!!! ;) Happy Sunday!!! |
 HI EVERYONE ~ we've had a busy couple of days too; did some shopping and running around for little things we needed/wanted, so I got lots of extra walking in this week. Yesterday, over did it a bit so my feet were sore last night, but they are starting to feel better now. I just stayed home today and did laundry too.
We had :sunny: the last few days in a row; it has been lovely. I found some terrific bargains this week; picked up two large lighted pumpkins with large cats on top for a song at our local second-hand shop; they are friendly cats though. We noticed last night that our dear Fido was sleeping beside them all evening and this morning I managed to catch him with my camera licking one of them on the face & paw -- awww ... he thinks we brought him a friend. I also found some maple leaves on strings at our local $$$ store to put around our deck; just a couple more things to add to what we put out last year. So now we have 3 big lighted pumpkins, 1 medium one, and 2 small ones ... oh, and don't forget the pumpkin man! ;) We are waiting a bit longer before setting up our display as we have had some strong winds and I don't want anything damaged before then. MADDIE ~ the great thing about GIRL GUIDE COOKIES is that they practically sell themselves; you just have to show up at the door with the boxes and a couple of girls in uniform; and they just sell. I remember selling them when I was young; and then buying some from our youngest sister later on too ... :D DONNA & CINDIE ~ ^sending up prayers^ for you both to start feeling better real soon; plus for strength for your immune systems to fight off all flues, colds, & viruses too ... CMo2 ~ WOW, pretty soon you'll have your own gym at your house. JOJO ~ yes, I think the hardest part is just getting started; finding that right time to go to the gym. What about Saturday mornings? A friend and I used to belong to a gym and we went in the evenings (Monday & Wednesday), and on Saturday morning or afternoons each week. That was the best time for us both as she was driving from a distance away; I was in school at the time and she was working full-time. TAM ~ good for you getting out to the Y; often you realize after you went that you feel better and wonder why you hesitated in the first place. They keep saying we are gonna get a few ***** but so far only once and so very light and short ... yeah. I don't mind as long as they don't stay. Hope all our Canadian Friends are having a wonderful fall weekend -- wherever you are in our great, big & beautiful country ... Rosebud :flow2: |
Hello! I am new to the boards. I have been trying to lose 15 lbs for about 15 years....that is how old my son is. I also have a teenage daughter. I have been at my goal weight of 135 lbs a couple times nice, using weight watchers. For some reason, as soon as I reach my goal weight, I give up and regain all the weight. I am not too concerned about the number on the scale, but my clothes do not fit well and I KNOW that I am not fit. I thought I would join a support group for motivation. I am living in Montreal right now, but originally from Atlantic Canada. There are lots of success stories here.....:)

Hi Kitkate and welcome!!
I'm feeling much better today, i wasn't sleeping much (staying up late reading) but I managed to sleep in until 9am this morning. I keep gaining and I'm not sure how I'm going to get a handle on my eating right now. We went for an hour long hike today with the boys and it was great! I was surprised at how quickly they went, especially the 3yo. But he hikes the trail often with his daycare group. I really want a dog though to walk with us. It was a very nice day weather wise, must have been around 0 it was so warm. It'll be freezing soon enough! |
:welcome: KITKAT ~ sometimes 15 lbs can be as stubborn as 30 or 50 or more ... :)
DONNA ~ glad you are feeling better; the hiking is a great idea, esp doing that with the family -- that's great exercise! Just keep at it becuz good new habits take practice to make them permanent ... We just had a quiet day at home; well, I did anyways -- DH did go out a couple of times doing his own thing: visited a friend this afternoon to watch some local political thing this afternoon. I asked him what they said, and he said "I don't remember" ... Couldn't have been too memorable then, eh? ;) Have a great week everyone ... Rosebud :flow2: |
