  • Happy Monday morning!

Although it sure doens't feel that way here. I fell off the wagon HARD over the weekend and boy my body is NOT happy. It feels like I am up a good 5 pounds in water weight and my head is killing me. (thanks cheezies and popcorn) Is there such things as a salt hangover?!

But today is a new day and I am eating according to plan. One success that I do have is that I don't have any cravings for any junk...more cravings for straight protein and raw veggies. One step at a time I guess. I'm even making cookies for the kids and don't even want to lick my fingers...ugh...yuck. LOL

I'll catch up with personals a bit later!
  • Keep up the great work ladies! I am impressed by you all!
  • Maddie!! Salthangover! I know!! I hate and love the salt... Good for you with the non-cravings of junk! Woot!
Cindie! You sound like things are going well!! Awesome.
I seem to really be enjoying the exclamations!
Well we went to fall supper last night and I had the mashed potatoes and gravy and some kind of delicious berry pie. I could've said no, but I didn't. It was awesome. And it was yesterday....This morning I went to the gym and did some HIIT so there you go.
Hope everyone is enjoying their days!!

  • I'm glad to see that some of you are still enjoying life, then continuing on plan as you go. DH bought a pumpkin pie last Friday and yes, I had a small piece too. Every once in a while, I indulge in a nice dessert like that too; and still stayed under my daily cal allotment as well by having the pie as one of my snacks for the day.

We had lovely weather today; wow, what a change and it's supposed to be like this for the whole week. It was nice & today and even got up to 70F, so it was great for doing stuff outdoors, which we did. I got lots of walking in yesterday and today too; legs a bit sore tonight, but I'm still glad I did that. When we got back home, we cleaned up our garden for the fall.

Had a good on plan day as well; seem to be doing much better as time goes on this fall. I tweaked my plan and it has helped quite a bit. I read something about being sure to eat things you really like, just eat much less of it. I am finally learning which stuff I can do this with.

Hope you all have a great week ... Rosebud
  • I'm doing okay. Craving chocolate and I haven't worked out since Sunday. I was bad and had M&M's yesterday but otherwise eating alright. Still tired and sick, I have a really sore throat.

I'm going out of town on Thursday for two nights, no kids. One of my girlfriends is coming with me so it'll be a nice girls weekend away, shopping and going for coffee and to movies. I do have see the dentist too but that wont' be so bad. I'll get lots of walking in.
  • Hello everyone I've been a little MIA these last few days lol; I've actually been investing my time in researching just about everything to do with calorie counting and how carbohydrates, protein and fat are considered in the count. I must say I've learned so much. So I took all the info I gathered and made some calculations for myself and i am starting to calorie count as of today. I find it takes a little more work but it all seems to make sense.

I didn't bother with any dieting for the past 2 days (but still ate sensibly enough) so that I can make a nice comeback starting today. I also took a break from the exercising.

Rosebud - I decided to take your advice with mixing up my workouts. Thanks!

I am going to do cardio everyday but I am going to do toning only 3-4 days a week. Each day that I tone, I will only tone one section of my body as advised by a bodybuilding website. Oh and I should be getting my treadmill next week, I can't wait! I have an elliptical but I find that I am not yet in the right shape to do that as I can't get past five minutes on it.

Donna - Thanks for the info on the biggest loser for the wii!
That's great that you are getting away and taking some time to yourself! Good for you!

Jojo- thanks for the vote of confidence! I am definitely doing all I can to keep a positive outlook on things.

Cindie- 2 lbs every 4 days?! Wow, that is awesome!!

    ~Christine~
  • Tuesday! I'm just back from the gym and had a lovely tabouli salad and some vegetables. Quite pleased with myself for not getting the junk even though it was right in front of me.
CMO2 - Treadmill?? Awesome! I'm excited for you! I wish I had one. But I always balk at the idea of it...mainly b/c I have two gym memberships use them only in fits of weight loss efforts. Never consistently. (I'll get better)
Rosebud - I think that's a good idea to tweak your plan. I get set on doing something and when my plan is thrown off, I tend to give up and abandon all the work I've done. Maybe the key is being flexible?
Donna - Have an awesome girls weekend! Woot!
Have a great day everyone. I'm off to go and twist my brain around more theory. Gah. Must get coffee.

  • Wow - no one has posted here yet today and it's almost 930pm here. I was down 1 lb tonight so that makes up for the 1 lb I gained last week. Back on the right side again.

The last couple of days have been just crappy. I think every person just about who I get on the phone at work or in front of me are grumpy. Not sure why but I am pretty sure I didn't make them grumpy so I really wish they would stop taking it out on me! LOL. I will be very glad when 5pm tomorrow gets here as I am off for 5 days. No plans but not at work so that makes me happy.

Hope everyone had a good day. I'll check in later as usual..

    Alannah
  • ALANNAH ~ I actually come by to either read and/or post every day that I am on this site. I don't always post but do read to keep up. Then I post when I have something to say or respond to a question or comment. There were only two posts since my last one ... oops, that is four posts, not sure why I only saw two on my screen; probably scrolling down too fast.

The weather has been fab here this week, maybe that is why some people are crabby; they want to be outdoors enjoying the good fall weather we are finally having. Don't blame them. We did just that today -- went up to our lot and it was nice out there too. Every fall we go up in October to get things ready for winter and just enjoy the place without any buggies ...

Hope all our Canadian friends are having a great week ... Rosebud
  • It has been raining all day, where I am located just outside of Ottawa. I have not seen this much rain since last week..lol. There are so many earthworms on the sidewalk this evening.

I had went up .5 pounds on my Monday weigh in, but my leader said it may have been because I was wearing jeans, and jeans weigh a lot. No matter, I know I didn't have the best week. I was off track yesterday because I had two hotdogs (eek! I don't even usually eat hotdogs)! Today I was back on track, and hoping to get more exercise the rest of the week.

Alannah, sorry to hear everyone is so grumpy. I know what you mean! Enjoy your 5 days off. I'm envious!

Great job everyone for staying on track!! We can do this, ladies!!!!!

Donna, enjoy your gf time! You deserve a break!

Have a great rest of week!
  • Morning All!!

Yep...we've been slow but hey, life is like that!
I've been mia as I am the PTAG secretary and we are in the midst of 2 major fundraisers (not to mention selling cookies for Sparks and Brownies!!!). We usually bring in about $17 000 so you can imagine the time involved for that kind of $$. Very worth it as our school is one of the better ones academically AND disiplinary-wise.

I've been up and down.Think I may finally have all that nasty salt out of my system but of course TOM is due and that's good for 3-4 pounds. UGH! Damned if you do and damned if you don't.....

    Have a great day!
  • Hi everyone The day started off pretty blah here, it was raining pretty heavily this morning so no outside walk for me, but I did manage to do some wii fit cardio workouts and spent 1h 45min on it including a 20 minute jog
In the past I would have never been able to do "20 minutes", I wouldn't even have been able to get through the first 5 minutes!

Aside from that I have been getting in more calories and I couldn't resist checking the scale yesterday (even though it wasn't weigh in day) and I dropped 1 lb since Monday.

I really wanted to get myself a bodybugg but they are really expensive and I could use that money towards the treadmill so I ordered myself a heart rate watch instead. Really cool it has a heart rate monitor and counts step/distance and calories burned as well. I believe the company that makes it also has a similar program as the bodybugg on their website (if I read it correctly) I'm so excited to get it

Hope everyone is having a fantastic day!!
  • Clearly I need to get up to date on my gadgetry. I've heard of the bodybugg but have no idea what it is.
I'm just back from the Y and I actually had a good work out on my own. I ran into a fitness leader and told her I'd be in class tomorrow - so I think that motivated me a bit. Rather than use the treadmill and leave, I used the stair climber and did some HIIT.
We have house guests this week and last night I made a huge delicious salad with tonnes of vegetables, homemade dressing, goat cheese, strawberries and hemp hearts. We barbequed some chicken and it was delicious. But then on the other hand I made an apple pie and had two glasses of wine and a half a beer so there's a balance of good and bad choices right there.
CMO2 - Congrats on the 20 min run!! Woohoo!! Love a good fitness victory!!
Maddie - Nice work on the school/community building. It would be great if more communities worked together more often for the good of the students. I love hearing those stories.
Jojo - I like that you're getting back on track. It's inspiring after my pie and wine night. Just put it behind me and move on, right?
Anyways I'm rambling and procrastinating now. Off to write!
Have a great day Canadian ladies!!
  • HI LADIES ~ we had for most of September, so it is nice to finally have some here this week; and we are taking full advantage of it too. I have been sitting in the sun a bit each day to catch some vitamin "D". It was kinda windy which made it feel cooler out in the open, but on our deck it was much warmer as the building blocks the wind.

I just stayed home and did weekly chores for the morning: laundry and bathroom. I had a bit of a cold today; minor sniffles and maybe even a bit of a fever (felt hot); I took some Vitamin C with my tea, and tonight, I am feeling much better. Did really well eating healthy this week though.

TAM ~ I have my plan down pat now; just took all our favorite dishes & meals and made them much healthier; plus I watch the portion sizes too. This simplified things for me so even if I do vary from it a bit, the damage is a lot less (I do change up the dinners for variety though).

Once in a while we have a special dessert too, but the rest of the week is so on plan that it all works out in the end. I abandoned that "all or nothing" thinking some time ago; it wasn't working for me, so I made a change. If I do eat a little extra, I just cut back on my next snack, meal, or day; and keep on going!

I try to look at it from this point of view -- I was 90-95% successful that day or week, instead of focusing on just one little thing that I ate; and this has totally transformed how I think about food now. I congratulate myself on how well I do each day, week, and month as well; looking at the big picture, I now see that I am actually quite Victorious!!!

Over time, I have discovered what foods really give me the most trouble; for now, I pass them up. I have a rule that if I really want nachos, I have to have them in one serving size of about 140 calories only; which keeps me inside my daily calorie allotment. I'm using tricks like that more often and always on the lookout for better snacks too.

Hope you all have a fabulous Friday tomorrow, esp those of you who are working ... Rosebud
  • Well I made it to Onederland today
