New CANADIAN SUMMER Thread ...
In celebration of our upcoming birthday on July 1st -- I am starting a new CANADIAN summer thread. Like I said in the last post of the spring thread ... I expect you good people to support this thread with lots of juicy posts and regular weather reports ... becuz that's a Canadian tradition, right ... right!
AUNTY JAM ~ you have done fabulously well with your weightloss; don't blame you for being happy about it!!!
We have had lots of the last few days, but then we really needed it as our grass was starting to turn yellow from lack of water. We picked up some perennial flowers and bushes and planted them over Sunday and Monday, so this weather is just right to help them get a good start (cool and wet).
Hope you all are having a great week ... Rosebud

THANKS LADIES ~ HAPPY CANADA DAY to you all too!
We got back home from our CANADA DAY fireworks display after 11 pm last night and it was exceptional this year, I must say ... well, it is our 100th birthday anniversary, so it was a special one.
We took our dear NIKO with us and he just curled up in a ball in the back seat and slept through the whole thing ... I guess he is just so used to DH's bang'em up and shoot'em up movies and loud musac that nothing bothers him anymore ...
We are had lovely weather yesterday -- perfect in the mid-70's, but today it is a bit warmer but there's a really nice breeze out there. DH had to rescue a baby sparrow this morning. I made it a bed using a veggie box with papertowels and rags, then put it in a hanging basket which we hung in a fur tree at the back. It took the mommas about 10 minutes to zero in on the squawker, but since then they have been working as a team to feed it.
My NO JUNKIES JUNE helped and I am down another 2 lbs too!
Hope you all have a great long weekend; many people here were given both Thursday and Friday off (hence the long weekend). Take good care ... Rosebud

Hey everyone, how's things? Went camping to a friends lake lot on July 1, came back saturday. Had a really good time, it would have been great but I forgot about the fireworks... they wouldn't have been a problem but our young dog is scared of them. We managed to train him out of being scared of thunder storms but found out unfortunately it didn't carry over to fireworks. Poor thing was reduced to a 65lb ball of shaking fur no matter how far away they were. Thankfully they are just one night, all other days there were fireworks we've been home, he seems to be ok with them if he's in the house.
It had been really hot and humid here also but lately has cooled off. Today its just pouring rain.
Rosebud - Thanks for the boost

Well, there's no doubt that it's summer in Canada, eh? We are all coming and going to our campers, cottages, holidays, etc. We went out to our camper a couple of times recently but the weather hasn't been co-operating too much. When it's hot, it's too -- then it rains and the buggies come out for lunch ... Then there's this humidity this year -- not common to our area, so hope it leaves soon and doesn't come back.
I think hot temps (say around 80 F) aren't too bad to handle, as long as there isn't the humidity with it. I am praying that GOD will send this system out to the ocean where it can mingle with the mists of the seas.
We picked up some air beds and stuff for our camper; we wanted foam but could only get one roll so will use that for our kitchen seats. We want to try staying up there one night and see how that goes. As long as the buggies cannot get into our trailer, I'll be happy with that.
We picked up a bunch of perennial flowers and bushes and planted them in our side gardens and along the front; and they are blooming pretty good. This was a dream of mine -- to have flower gardens that would bloom year after year ...
AUNTY ~ your welcome; my pleasure! I am losing -- albeit slowly, but that's OK with me becuz I don't want to gain it back this time. So far, so good!
Hope all our other Canucks out there are having a fantabulous summer; come by now & then and let us know how things are going for you. Take good care too ... Rosebud

Hi everyone! I haven't checked in a long time. Not much new to report, I guess.
Well, one thing that has happened in my life is that my son, who is a photographer at the National Post, got arrested at the G20 demonstrations. While he was working! And he had his media credentials around his neck! I am really disappointed in the police actions during the G20.
We went out to Toronto for four days on July 1. He is fine, physically, a little shaken mentally at how he was treated. He has to go to court in August. He was charged with Unlawful Assembly and Obstructing a Police Officer. Here is an article about his arrest. National Post Not sure how they can arrest someone (and hold them for 24 hours) for doing their job, but there you have it. Obviously, as a parent, I am still upset about it.
Other than that we had a good visit with both of our sons, who now live there.
Rosebud, your lake lot sounds nice. And you are building a cabin? Cool! We have only been out once in our trailer so far this year. Hopefully we will get to use it a couple of times more this summer. I am taking a week of vacation in August, so maybe a few days then. That was a really cute story about the baby bird.
I am trying to get my weight moving in the downward direction again. I am walking in the morning before work, and by the end of the summer my goal is to be doing the 3 mile route that I used to walk every day.

JUDY-LYNN ~ I don't blame you for being upset. I saw the pictures of the media taking pics before a line of heavily-clad police officers; not sure why our PO's are over-doing things a bit these days. Reminds me of the Harris days when they got heavy-handed with some tame little school teachers ... I hope this isn't a sign of things to come; getting a bit too much like the US, me thinks!
Yes, we are building a cabin on our lot; and the camping trailer is just behind it. I can sit in there and watch the progress. So far, we have the front porch done. The next job is the shingles on the roof of the porch; then the rest of the floor; then they start the walls of the main part of the cabin. We don't have a lake right on our lot, but there are two lakes less than 2 miles from our place which we have been to before. Yes, would love to have it right on the water but land prices have risen a lot these days; and we got our lot for a real bargoon many moons ago.
We have been having some weather here, but we also got a lovely ~~~ breeze today too; and now some have come in and things are -ing off nicely. We hope to get up to the lot this week for at least 1 or 2 days, if the weather co-operates.
Have a wonderful week, people ... Rosebud

We are having a one here today; maybe again tomorrow, then things are supposed to off for a while -- oh, that will be so nice ... that means we can go out to our lot and get some things done out there soon.
Hope you all are having a great summer all across our great big country ...

Went up to our lot today; and we hired a young lad who needs some work to finish the roof of the porch for us (he did most of it); and it is so nice to see it all done. It is just too hard on DH to do these things by himself and it is nice to have some help.
I got lots of exercise in marking all our plants, trees, and bushes with bright string for when we get the grass cut and trimming done again. Was happy to see that two of our poplar trees have bounced back with brand new shoots; we hope the others may do the same.
We had a nice breeze and clouds that made it much more comfortable today; then we had a nice shower to things down completely for the evening. I like it when it works that way.
Hope you all are having a fabulous Friday night out there ... Rosebud

I think all our Canucks are away on holidays in other countries ... the US maybe? We had another busy day at our lot; I got stung by some wasps. A big sore spot on the back of my calf the size of an egg; I may have accidentally stepped on a ground nest ...
It was a one, but nice & cool in the AM and the evening; hot in the afternoon though. Still, we got lots done and that made it all worth it. I will just take it EZ tomorrow and have a rest day as I'm off to see the doc as well.
Hope you are all having a great week and summer as well ... Rosebud

Hi Everyone... quite in here eh.
Judy Lynn - sorry to hear about your son, hope everything turns out ok! I can't believe people were treated like that IN CANADA!
Rosebud - we used to have a lake lot with a '73 Winnebego (sp?) on it, it was small and mostly dirt, but it was wonderful. Watch out for those wasps!
I'm leaving tomorrow, going to super small town Saskatchewan to visit my Granny and relatives. I can't wait, I haven't been since last summer. I will be out of touch again until at least Sunday. Hope everyone is having a super great summer.

HI AUNTY ~ it was very, very yesterday; had to go to the docs and it was like a sauna in our car. Well, at least it is much cooler today; hope it stays that way. They had said it was gonna rain today, but the clouds are dissipating right now so maybe they are wrong again ...
It's hard to make plans when the weather changes so much or is so totally wrong from one day to the next. I was gonna go up town to get a prescription filled out and a few groceries, but my DH has wandered somewhere with the car ...
Have a great day ...

I am here. have been working and sleeping mostly. I go back to work tomorrow night for 2 days then off 2 days then on for 5 day stretch. I feel like I am all neglecting you. I do think of you all often. Hope all of you are in good health and staying on plan. the heat in Ontario has been a bi**h lately. The only good thing about nights is that its not too hot.
Has anyone read a really good romance novel lately. I go through a book every second shift and I have exhausted all my favourite authors until the fall when their new stuff comes out. I really need something to read.
