Oh, MEL! Yick! I hope it doesn't fill up again. You certainly are having a time of it and yet you are always so cheerful - in here anyhow.

Rennie, send my your addy and I'll send you snow. We have about eight inches on the ground and they are predicting another 18 tomorrow! At least it's white and clean, not brown and smelly.

Just got a call from Hollyhock who is fine but busy, of course. She says she hasn't much to say but does pop in to read when she gets a chance.

Dinner at my sister's place was lovely and even healthy! My BIL BBQed a steak and Joan had green beans, mushrooms and sweet potato fries! Dessert was applesauce with yogurt - no sugar - so I was safe. One glass of red wine and no Christmas baking. We did the gift exchange too so I feel as if Christmas has already started!

If I don't get this decorating done today, it ain't gonna happen so I'd better get at it. I also have to bring in some firewood. I didn't light the stove in the back room last night and it was 5º C out there this morning. It's a good thing I closed the door into the kitchen or the whole house would have been freezing! Today I need to fill the wood box right to the top, especially with a storm coming.

Good morning chicks,

It's chilly here too. We might even get some snow flurries tonight. That's enough to have the locals in a panic buying out all the bread, milk and water for one hundred miles around Right now it's just a cold, steady rain.

Most of my Christmas shopping is done - did it online. Just have to run out for a few small things and I may do that tomorrow.

Today I want to clean up the house. Hard to believe next week at this time we'll be in Chicago and in 2 weeks we'll be home getting ready for Las Vegas. Time's a flying.

I am really leaning towards skipping the cards this year so will send my greetings to y'all online.

Gotta go get busy. Have a good weekend.

We are under a flash flood watch. It started raining last night.

I have tried for years to get a job at the library. They only hire people with english degrees or those that are in the process of getting an english degree.

We have about 4 inches now. Suppose to see freezing rain and then more snow. We just don't tend to get the snow everyone else does in our little valley. Think last year one time we got 14 inches or more in 12 hours that was about it for the winter. An inch here and inch there.

I would love to come and clean for you lol. I am a very organized person ( because if I'm not, I am very disorganized ) and I love to organize.

Been a great day. House is cleaned, still have laundry to do tomorrow. Shopping is done. Drive is shoveled, will have to do this again in the morning lol.

It certainly snowed last night! Hersh had to plough through a drift on the deck to get out for potty and there's another one at the end of the lane. I suspect Church will be a non-event this morning. 40 CM is predicted - that's 16". I doubt that my wee car can handle that although she has good snow tires.

Anyhow, I've got, food, dog food, water and milk and my wonderful neighbour filled my woodbox to the very top yesterday afternoon. If the power goes off, I do have a generator - outside under a drift of snow!

I just may get a lot of decorating and sewing done today. I did visit Harry yesterday afternoon so there is no reason on earth to go out of the house.

YESTERDAY I DID SMALL JOBS. NO CLEANSERS OR DUSTING. NOTHING THAT WOULD GET THE EYE STARTED AGAIN. FIRST THING THIS MORNING I LOOKED AND IT APPEARS TO REALLY BE HEALING THIS TIME. I CUT THE ANTIBIOTICS IN HALF AND TOOK THEM EVERY OTHER DAY ALONG WITH THE HERBAL REMEDY. SEEMS LIKE IT'S WORKING AND I CAN SAFELY GET OFF THEM. ALL I NEEDED WAS A START. SO MAYBE A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE AFTER ALL
THE FAMILY DRAMA CONTINUES BUT THE KIDS ARE GETTING LESS HYSTERICAL. FUNNY HOW YOU CAN COACH SOMEONE AND GET THEM GOING SO MUCH FASTER THAN YOU LEARN THE LESSON YOURSELF!! THE KIDS WOULD CALL AND ASK FOR ADVICE AND NOW THEY ARE CALLING MUCH CALMER AND TELLING ME WHAT THEY ARE DOING. BY JOVE I THINK THEY MAY BE GETTING IT TOO!!!

Hi ladies,

It's a frosty one this morning. They were predicting snow flurries but it wasn't snowing when I went to bed at 1:30. Got up at 5 am for a drink of water - no snow there so I guess it passed us by. I hear Chicago got dumped on - haven't called mom yet to get the details. Nothing compares to what Ruth got - stay warm - let someone else plow you out.

Mel - glad to hear the eyes are doing better as well as the kids. After a while I think you get tired of all the fighting and just kind of settle down - perhaps they have figured it out. As for "who you know, not what you know" that seems to be more and more prevalent in this world. Sad thing too Batton down the hatches and don't blow away on us young lady! Hmm - didn't tell me you'd be bringing ALL of your chairs - DH would be GLAD to empty the garage of my junk / errr - I mean stuff.

Rennie - sometimes I think that would be the best thing. To hire someone to come in and de-clutter while I'm away and then I don't know what they threw out so I can't cling to everything and pull it out of the trash bin. I did get the cabinets cleaned up and they do look much better. My sister in law is super organized like you. She and my niece would not only declutter but probably sell most of it in a yard sale and turn a tidy profit I tell myself some day I will be that way too My retired life will be very different from my working life Do you live out in the "sticks"? Sounds like you do - a very rural quiet town.

Ceejay - good luck on the BL challenge. Sometimes it gets a bit clique-ish there but hopefully you can get in with the right people right off the bat. Some of the exercise challenges are good to keep you motivated.

Shad - haven't seen you post in a few days - does this mean you are enjoying your weekend away from the computer for a change or have we gone porno again? Hope it's the former. Have fun - you deserve a little R&R.

I'm about to head over to the store to pick up a few small things to round out the Christmas shopping. Hard to believe we'll be heading out the end of the week. This year sure did fly by. Again I have intentions of turning things around for the positive come the new year. Of course January will start off great - looking forward to our Las Vegas trip but will end with the stupid colonoscopy. I hope I don't chicken out on that one. The more I think about it, the more I want to run the other way

Morning! We got about 8 inches of snow over night and it is still falling. We had a very festive and fun party last night. 14 adults and all their kids. Fun. Today I get to clean up and shovel snow. HUGS!!!

Quit fretting over the colonoscopy. It will be some of the best sleep afterwards that you will have. Any way it was for me. The nurse injected something into my iv and told me to count backwards starting with my age. The dr laughed and said she is about a year younger than me. It will not take her long. After that I knew nothing. When I woke up the proceedure was done.
I've kinda thought they were a bit clique ish. Motivation is what I need the most. We'll see how it goes.

How nice that your neighbor loaded up the fire wood box. I kept getting up and looking out the door last night to see the white stuff but there wasn't any.

I'm debating on the brand name because we have used 3 brands and work and all are good. Right now I'm looking at the prices.

I can remember working. Many a night I went to work on 4 hours sleep. Glad I don't have to work anymore unless I want to.

Frass! Revised forecast is now 60 cm of snow. That's 24" for the Americans! It'll be over my knees. So far there are no power outages but there is a strong wind and lots of drifting. Hershey just refused to go down the steps to the yard and used the drift on the deck. I know - TMI.

My tree is up and all sparkly - it's pretty darn Christmassy around here today!
I think I'll have a cup of ginger tea and just "set" for a while.

Yowza!! The snow just keeps on falling and falling and falling. On the plus side (there's always a plus side) the dinner party I was booked for tonight is cancelled, so I managed to get all the prezzies wrapped, almost all the Christmas cards written, and the last few parcels ready for mailing. Good thing everyone I send stuff to is used to getting New Year's gifts instead of Christmas stuff. Actually, I think after this year there won't be any more gifts being mailed. I couldn't believe what I ended up spending to send a smallish parcel to England!!! Ridiculous.
Tomorrow: struggling through the snow to the last of the dental appointments for a while - I hope. That makes two years in a row I've helped finance the dentist's new mansion on the river. I'm not looking forward to tomorrow at all. It seems each time I get more wussy than the last.

Mel, such good news that the cyst seems on the mend. Don't work too hard with those accountants! As for a laptop, I like mine, but am far too lazy to actually go into the office every time I want to type something. Since you need a large screen, a laptop with one big enough might be a bit too heavy for you to lug around.

Shad, I think your time on that contract is almost over. Maybe I'll come and visit you, just to keep you busy...

Ruth, clever you for getting snow tires on. I made the mistake of assuming that snowbound winters were a thing of the past. Another big expensive errand for this week, along with all the other idiots who've been managing on all-seasons. And good news on the date for the new knee!!

Rennie, have you considered signing up for a college course or two, which would mean you're working on an English degree and could be eligible to work in the library? I've always found that education is never wasted, even if you don't really plan to use a degree. Just an idea...

Ceejay, I too need to find some motivation or a group or something to get back on track.

Holly, never have I seen anyone who sounds as delighted as you at the prospect of cleaning and shovelling! It must have been a very fun party to leave you in that mood...

Sorry I've been gone so long. I should be around a little more now - no more work until mid-January.

Something I learned from Madcat while in Toronto: we actually have spell check on this site!!! No more need to go check stuff in the dictionary. Who knew the little ABC icon could make my life so easy!!
