Good morning chicks,
... and now we return you to your regularly scheduled programming

Got Shad on a plane on her way to Mel's via a short stop in North Carolina. Hope you got there safe and sound - probably up all evening chatting away

The days went by all too quickly but we had a lovely visit. Wish we could
all get together somehow. She arrived with a dried up nose, I sent her off with the traditional Memphis sneezing from all the southern schmutz we have here. No telling how she will leave Jersey.
Sorry for my lack of posting but generally by the time the end of the day came and I was able to use the computer, I was too tired to do much other than peek in. I was also sandwiched between two early morning risers so I had to put my night owl habits aside for a week
Carla, I love the new themed avatar. Congrats on getting that scale to move downwards. Have a good time when we pass the Shadster along to you
Madcat - interesting thing with the humidity. It was getting warm and humid right before Shad's arrival. Then it lowered a bit but just enough in the air to rest her poor nose which was totally dried out from the desert air. We drop her off at the airport and just as her plane is taking off, the sauna rolls back in again. It's feeling very tropical here this early morning. So perhaps she will bring the lovely weather with her. Sorry to hear you have been rumbly and tumbly. Hope the tummy bug clears up quickly. Eat extra portions of yogurt to bring things in balance.
Ceejay - enjoy that new tooth. I'm sure it cost a bundle. I find the prep work and the temporary crown much more dreadful than the finished product. Hope you're feeling better. Warm compresses to the face help ease the soreness.
Holly - glad to hear that your loan came through even tho you'd rather be spending that kind of money on something else. So much for the quiet peacefulness of the hamlet life.
Ruth, sorry to hear the puppies are sick. Hope the kitchen is back together to your satisfaction. I think you, a floppy hat, 2 doggies and a peony would be quite recognizable. Shad - you will take a picture, won't you?
Painter - glad that you finally popped back in. You disappear for too long

Sorry to hear you are sad. Here's a feel good hug
Hellos to Meadow and Nae
And that leaves Miss Mel. Hope your "sister" has found her way to your doorstop and that you two don't tear apart the town. How nice of your neighbor to share dinner with you. The shrimp and rice sounds quite nice. I do hope that everyone will leave you alone and that you can fully enjoy the few days you will have together. Enjoy the "Elvis sing along" too - won't you? I want pictures
After we dropped Shad off we headed down to the garden center. DH was trying his best to control me - he was fretting constantly about the amount of money things were costing and that we should start slow and add a bit here and there as needed. I on the other hand, wanted a cartful of stuff to finish the rest of the plantings. He was right to fret as I could have easily spent $300 without even trying. We are trying to ease into more perennials so that we don't have to keep shelling out a ton of money each spring. I decided to do a small patio garden by the pool. Got one patio plant with tomatoes that went into the big pot. Another smaller pot holds the dill and parsley. One sweet basil plant in a small pot rounds it out. We got some flowers for the hanging baskets by the pool. I think they are a variation of snapdragons. Some coleus for the front yard. There is no more hosta to be purchased - the garden centers are getting pretty sparse by this time - so I'll just have to split out some of the ones in the front to round out the circle under the tree.
I have 3 small pots yet to fill and one very large tub by the pool. I would like to get a climbing mandevilla again but DH is not keen on the idea. Probably because they cost $40 and only last one season - you think?
I'm debating about taking a lazy day today to finish off my vacation. Would like to get a pedicure and wash the dirty cars. I need to make meal plans and do grocery shopping for the upcoming week but that can wait until tomorrow. So can the laundry. I just looked over and realized that the filing cabinet next to the computer is stacked with papers I was supposed to put away
BEFORE Shad's arrival. Sorry about that. I am a "pile" person - probably my worst habit.
So, let's get on with the day before it's noon and I'm still sitting here. Have fun Shad and Mel - leave the poor fireman alone

The rest of you have a good Friday.
