Thanks, jolly! I'm OK, the quake was far away from Tokyo, only one dead, lots injured...of course, being in a quake zone myself, it's not funny!

Day 7 - calorie count - pause - starting over

Yep, went over. Not by much for just the one day, but it threw my daily average off for the week by enough that I'm saying I'm done. I'm not sure I will do well with the zig zag.

For the moment, I'm re-thinking things (again). I am going to tackle a couple of other things that I'm noticing I need to fix. I have a favorite snack that I tend to eat too much of which I am not going to get rid of, just cut down to 1 serving a day. I'm also adding back in my exercise challenge but am upping it just a bit from normal. So....

Only 1 serving of my "favorite" snack per day - level 3
45 minutes of purposeful exercise - level 3

Was going to write more to everyone here, but I spent so long thinking about all this, that my 3 year old is now up and running so I gotta go! I'll catch up with each of you later.

I have finished day 12 on my exercise challenge. I have even gone 3 miles! That is the farthest I have gone in YEARS. I'm actually beginning to feel like a runner again. Bad news though, I had to take a pause day again on Sat. I think it may be tough to finish this one up....9 days with out a pause...
I'm also still gaining weight because I can't stop eating out of control.
Must come up with food challenge

Glad you are ok, Red. I was worried. DJ, I hear you on the need to rethink things. We have all been there. Apple - hurray for the runner!

I met all challenges today, and had a good day. Even got out to the barn and rode tonight, which was good.

Have a good one all.

Calories - zig-zag, average 1700 calories, day 6
Vege/fruit - at least 5 servings per day, day 6
Food log every day, day 6
Exercise - 30 minutes per day, day 6
No candy during lent, day 32, no pauses allowed, 1 pause taken

What a treat to log on tonight and see all the posts!

Sweet pea – welcome back. You’ve got some awesome challenges. Congrats on the weight loss. Nice to see the numbers going down, isn’t it?

Fit Chick – I hate that!! Although it’s good motivation to stay on your challenge.

Jolly – I pictured a sumo-sized serving of pasta and laughed. Good job turning around on your way to the store and for all your great challenges.

Red – it’s good to hear that you’re safe and sound.

DJ – I hear you about the zig-zag. Thankfully I only had 1300 calories yesterday, because I had a whopping 2200 calories today. Hope this is where the zig-zag works. I may need to re-think this also.

Apple – doing great on the exercise challenge. I really admire that your running, as I sit here on my couch.

thanks ashley!!! nice to be back. for a moment there i thought no one noticed me

I've done my walk for today and there's no alcohol in the house so that will be day 1 checked off for those.

I'm going to set my calories at 1,800 per day. It sounds high but I eat a lot of tahini, avocado, sunflower seeds, macadamia nuts etc that are really high in calories even though they are healthy. unfair!!!

holy cow ashley - 32 days without candy - i'm very impressed. i plan to give up sugar starting 1st april but first i have to empty my cupboards and buy all my replacement snacks. can i ask what zig zag is for calories???

jolly well done on the challenges

Day 1 - Only 1 serving of my "favorite" snack per day - good - level 3
Day 1 - intentional exercise every day - good - level 3

1 day down, 20 to go! I took off the 45 minutes from my exercise challenge because I know on Sunday, it probably won't happen and I'm ok with that. It will just be my own personal challenge to get a minimum of 45 minutes exercise per day Mon-Sat.

Sweet Pea - Nice to see that weight start to come off again huh? Congrats! The zigzag is a form of calorie counting where you will have high calorie days and low calorie days to equal an average by the end of a week. This way your body cannot get used to the low calories from dieting and you hopefully won't go into starvation mode.

Ashley - Yea, that zig zag is kind of hard. I might go back, I thing I need to make a few changes and find some new foods.

Jolly - Glad you're doing well with your challenges! Keep it up.

Apple - That's awesome on the running! I can't imagine running that far myself. I'm doing good just to do intervals on a 3 mile walk! Good job!
That's tough with the food thing though. I've been kinda going through that myself. Is there something specific that's triggering it?

Hi Red and everyone else out there!

Have a great day!

HEy all. Not much to report - I am really tired for some reason tonight. Yawn. With the temperature drop, I should sleep good tonight, though.

Met my challengesfor the day. That's about it.

Keep up the good work all. I will try to talk more tomorrow.

Day 13 done.
Sorry my last post ended abrubtly, my son climbed on to my lap and I was afraid he would mess it up so I posted it with out really finishing up....
I don't know what my eating problem is. I always get munchies when I am pre-menstral, which is in fact what is taking place hormonally anyway. I'm also a stress eater and stress is a-plenty here. I just need to buckle down. Tomorrow....
Hi Jolly! Glad you are moving along with your challenge. Step by step, day by day...
Hey DJ...I'm dying to know what your "evil snack' is.....personally I can eat way too much granola.....Is calorie zig zag the same as calorie cycling?
Ugghhh I hate to admit it but the littlest son is still awake at this hour and is threatening to abort this post.... manana chicas!

DJ thanks for explaining the zigzag calories to me. i like the sound of that. not just to keep the body alert but it also allows a big extra on the weekend hehe

I'm another 0.5kg down so that's good

Day 2 alcohol free completed
Day 2 calories completed

Will have to restart the exercise. I was running around getting my car fixed and ran out of time (not to mention torrential downpour).

Hello all. I have to share my morning story. I don't know whether it is a or

I got up this morning, and I was feeling tired and my quads were still sore from Monday's jog. My inner 3 year old was having a temper tantrum " I don't wanna work out. I don't wanna, don't wanna, don't wanna!!!" I decided this was just unexceptable, so off I went for my 2 mile jog. I was about a third of the way in, and feeling pretty good. The negative emotions were floating away on a sea of sweat (great visual, eh?). When all of a sudden, I take a stride and <POP>, my knee zigs when it should have zags. I tried combining jogging and walking, but quickly decided to just walk fast the rest of my route. Sigh.

Anyway. Everyone else have a great day!

Hello all. Sorry to be AWOL yet again...you know the usual reasons... And, jolly, my knee is hurting me something awful from yesterday. I can walk but not go up and downstairs except by easing some of my weight somehow, it hurts so bad. This could put a major damper on my exercising. I hope it gets better soon!
I hope to be back in the running (pun applicable!) soon. Until then, hang in there and hold the fort for me! New thread will start with my new challenges! Promise!
jolly, Ashley, thanks!
