Good morning....I slept like a log, and I am going to put on some walking shoes and head out in a minute- well, after some breakfast and a cup of espresso I think.

SEF! SEF! I am SOOO excited to see you finally posting again. BOB said you lurked some... Gosh, I have MISSED you so much! Please please do not give those negative thoughts another second! Toss them out! You are such a cool person. I have always admired how you gave and gave to others. Are you still involved with HFH? The nursing home? Your choir? While you were gone, I too found out I am type 2 diabetic, and I am not losing either. So, let's encourage one another here. Do you still have a swimming pool? Invest in a book on water aerobics. Not only does it burn calories, but it is great for the sugar control. Because the bouyancy of water keeps the joints from being stressed, it is ideal for us larger women too. I got a book off HALF, and it is pretty good. There were tons of different ones to choose from. I am sorry about your cat, and dog. Pets are such great company...I am glad you have a new doggie. Does he like to go on walks? I wonder if a nice big dog would help me to be motivated to walk, but all our cats would hate that! I also struggle with portion control. I am wondering if I should invest in a food scale and start weighing and measuring everything just to retrain my 'eye'. I don't think that is the problem for me though...I can hit it pretty well with guestimations...I just WANT too much. Thank you for MAKING my day! Woo hoo! SEF is back! I am SOO happy! Now stay put!

MORNING EVERY BUDDY!!

Had to forego the OUTLET MALL TRIP....my back just isn't cooperating! Jeff called last night and we're all going over to his house this evening for a cookout. I've got to get down to the grocery and get some corn on the cob to fix.

When the BEACH CREW got ready to go, I guess I moved the wrong way and my back caught and I knew I wouldn't be able to walk around a huge OUTLET MALL!! I told them to go on and we would get together a little later in the day!

YEA!!! SEF IS BACK!!! The OLD BROAD CAN STILL TYPE!! It's about time you made your way back on here!!!

GOOD GAWD MONET!!! Hope y'all got that air conditioner fixed!! If it's anywhere as hot in HOTLANTA as it is on the SUNCOAST, you're in for it!! Better get that FLOAT with RAILS on it blown up, you might have to sleep in the pool!

Well, I'm off...got to get down to the store before all the corn is gone...I'll check in later!!

Welcome back Sef. We have all had our moments. Don't worry just come and we are all in this together. So sorry to hear about your doggie. I would love to have one but my hubby and kids just don't do well with animals.

Everyone have a wonderful day!!!!

Good Afternoon!

Thank you MONET, BOB and SONYA for the welcome.

MONET: How could you remember all those things about me? I'm not that memorable. To answer your questions.....I had to give up HFH, I have been having trouble with my eyes and no longer drive at night. There was no one nearby to carpool with and at that point I was having trouble reading the emails and my own notes so resigned. Maybe I will return if eyes improve. I have had some laser work on right eye and vision has cleared a little. In July I may have cataract surgery on left. For the same reasons I gave up choir, couldn't read the words and sometimes the music which is usually darker print.
I still go to nursing home twice a week, I just love doing that. Our entertainment group is on hold as our piano player passed away last month. I lost a good friend and Scrabble opponent. We have a lead on a pianist and are meeting with her tomorrow. I hope she works out. We have not entertained for about three months. I miss it and know the residents of the various nursing homes do too.

In my lurking I saw that you are diabetic too. I manage to keep it under control with the Metformin and diet. If I cheat I pay for it. About 3 months ago I was in the hospital with an unidentified rash (it could have been environmental from Katrina) it was really serious all over my body. I was put on Prednisone which raises havoc with your sugar. Then I was given insulin and needles. Anything over 151 I had to shoot up. Had to do it quite freuently. Of course if I'm a bad girl (?) my sugar soars. I see where you manage with diet, exercise and meds too.

We just opened the pool, we were a little late this year because of Katrina. That means I can exercise again. I know a lot of different water exercises because I took classes for years both here and in Milford. My doctors recommended it after knee and back surgeries. I don't walk too much because of my neuropathy. Believe me housebreaking Bitsy, my puppy, is stairmaster work!

I have always had big dogs but wanted a small dog this time. I have less room and wanted one that can sit in chair or lay on bed with me. Sorta got used to that with the cat. Bitsy (because she is itsy bitsy and I thought itsy didn't sound good) was 1# 4 oz when I got her, the runt of the litter. She's up to 2# 14oz at the vet a couple of weeks ago.

If I behave myself I'm good at eyeballing portions too. Just haven't been good in so long.

BOB: Sorry about your back. That can really be painful. Thanks for the jokes you send. My groups love them. What is your new job?

SONYA: Thanks for encouraging words. Fortunately no is allergic to dogs in this house. DS has Diesel, a beagle, DIL has Chloe, a Heinz. But they are not my doggie companions and live downstairs. Basically they only come up in the evenings for a treat. Diesel got used to doing that when I had Freckles.

There I go again rambling on. I am trying to get through this day without being bad.

Having a yucky day. It's actually beena yucky week. I'm so jealous of people who are only sick the first 3 months of pregnancy. But I'm getting close.. it's all gonna be worth it..blah, blah, blah...

Si I exercised EVERY DAY this week!! I'm so proud of myself!! 3 days water aerobics at the Y, 2 days oin my own at my mom's house ( since I was helping with the kids) and yesterday I worked in the yard for a good hour. I'm so proud, but resting today

Tomorrow I will be back at Mom's working in the water again.

Monet- I'm gonna email you about your PM. It's just been a busy weekend and I was going to send some pics..

Sef- WELCOME BACK!!!! Of course we all remember you!!!! Jump back in!! Yippie!!! I keep thinking about getting a dog.. then I get pregnant again instead.. (rolls eyes)... I think maybe next year when this little guy is up and walking.

hello everyone! My Dr. recommended that I follow SugarBusters. Do you all mind if I join in here? I plan on starting tomorrow morning, clean slate and all.
No one I know follows this and I would really like to be around some like-minded eaters!

ANN: Hey, we would LOVE for you to join us! We are a crazy bunch, and there are a number of big losers here as well as long term Sugarbusters. I hope we can help you and give you all the support you need to succeed. Please ask any questions you have...the only dumb one is one you don't ask! My doctor recommended Sugarbusters to me too. And my husband. Me for insulin resistance (which is now full blown diabetes) and my husband for high cholesterol. We both follow it. My husband doesn't need to lose any weight, and is a weight lifter, and finds Sugarbusters is perfect for him. His cholesterol is good when he is careful with his diet. I find following Sugarbusters really helps me with controlling my glucose levels. We start a new thread each week, and don't be put off by the chatter...we are all friends here, and feel like diet is just one part of the whole person, so we also chat about our daily lives and such. I hope you will join right in! Feel free to tell us about yourself, so we can get to know you. There is a bio thread where you can post, and read about those of us who have filled out the bios.
