Hi everyone! Snowing here, about 5" or so. At least I already had today off, so it doesn't matter to me. Will go walk on the treadmill and do some crafting later.

Good Morning! Its been somewhat eventful. James had an appointment to have the tree kittens spayed today, but they call him on Saturday evening and told him they gave his appointment to someone else. He went anyway, and they would not take them, since they were overbooked. He thinks the woman who called him gave his appointment to a friend of hers with three feral cats. He let them know how angry he was since he took a day off of work and can hardly afford to do that, and now it was a waste. They told him the president of the company would call him. In the meantime, he has the three kittens who really need to be spayed, and are driving us all crazy, and no place to take them. A little over ten years ago, we took three cats to PetsMart to be spayed and neutered. It costed $30 for the female, and $25 for the males. Now, $60 is a bargain for the females! Most vets charge $90 to $150 for females! No wonder there are so many unwanted pets. Who can afford to pay that?

Breakfast today was three eggs, an English Muffin and a waffle. I was feeling pretty hungry.... I am not sure about lunch, or dinner, but will post when I know.

WOOD: Enjoy your day off!

Good Monday Morning.

Seems like our board is slowing down again. Only 5 pages last week. I can remember when we had 13-16 a week.

Weekend was busy. We shopped all day Saturday and Sunday we shopped for a new kitchen table. Finally found one. Now I have to find an area rug to go under it. I want to change my colors. Went to Outback last night with the kids for my birthday. It was nice (and legal).

Not much going on with me. Have a checkup with the oncologist today. Dreading that.

Barbara, lucky you to have the day off and don't have to worry about the snow. We have had just rain and more rain. I complain about it but glad it's not snow. Enjoy your day off.

Monet, glad you had a nice retreat. What a bummer about the kittens. Especially since he had to take the day off. I would be mad too.

Heart, Sounds like Boogie was pretty smart to me to figure out how to get out of there faster. I agree with you on taking that stuff with a grain of salt. There is a lot of natural things you can do for ADHD if you think he has a tad of it.

Cindy, glad you are feeling better and had a nice visit with your DS.

Angelnic, if you have some questions, just ask away. Someone will know the answer. Jump on in here.

Bob, glad to see you post, but you need to get back on here more.

Got to get busy here. Have a great day.

Talking Hi! I am new!

Hello! I just started SB yesterday. I love it so far! For breakfast I had oatmeal with cream, toasted cheese sandwich, 1/2 c grapes, 4 cucumber slices and a hard boiled egg with hot tea to drink. What do you all eat?
Also, I have read the book but still have a question. Is there a guideline on how much servings you are allowed in each food catagory? I am looking forward to getting to know all of you!

Good afternoon! I have been running errands today, and trying to catch up from being gone all weekend.

DRUM: Welcome! We are glad you are here! The board usually is hopping a bit more than it has the past few days, so check in often! The only guidelines I am aware of are these: eat two or three servings or less of starchy carbs a day for weight loss, and the amount to eat is what would fill a normal size dinner plate. I would add to that, eat if you are hungry, stop when you are full. I think I love SB so much because is so wonderfully simple! My only comment is that you might want to watch the cream. The book says to watch your fats, so skim or 1% milk would be more appropriate. Its not a low carb program, its a low glycemic program. The rest of what you had sounds good to me. I often eat eggs, and toast for breakfast, or a couple whole wheat waffles. (Publix grocery stores here have their own brand of 100% ww frozen waffles...they are great!) I try to concentrate on fresh veggies, lean meats and some whole grains. If you have questions, ask away...everyone here is very helpful!

Ok, gotta go! James and I are going to Little Five Points and having lunch at the Vortex! (they have sweet potato fries, and the best burgers in town! I just hope they have ww bread!)

Question! What exactly do you mean by starchy carbs? Would bread products be considered a starchy carb or are you talking about starchy veggies which I thought potatoes aren't allowed anyhow. I am a little confused! Please help!

DRUM: Bread, brown rice, pastas are all legal, but considered starchy carbs. Non starchy carbs are things like fruit, veggies (broccoli, squash, green beans) White potatoes are NOT ok but sweet potatoes are...and are a starchy carb. Does that help? So, don't eat more than 2 or 3 slices of bread, servings of brown rice, or ww pasta, or sweet potato each day. If you post your menus, the folks on here can help you work it out.

Okay, I am learning already! I didn't know sweet potatoes are considered a starch! Dinner we had coconut dipped chicken breasts, green beans, and SF applesauce. I kinda screwed up on the coconut because it had sugar in it. Next time I will know better!

We ran over to the new Noodle Cafe for a spot of dinner. We were not really hungry, so Tom ordered basil rolls and we got an order of Cha Ghio rolls. Then, we got Bubble tea...its kind of new and trendy. It immensely popular in Asia. There are pearls of tapioca in the bottom of the tea. Its not very sweet, since its Asian and they don't eat much sugar like we do. Great stuff! I have some of the tapioca pearls and I am going to try making it again. You have to use special large straws to suck up the tapioca pearls. Its just fun! I am not sure if Tapioca is legal. Does anyone know?

DRUM: Hmm, that coconut chicken sounds good. You can find unsweetened coconut at health food stores. I don't know where you are, but in many states there are Whole Food's Markets and they carry it. There are others too, maybe Wild Oats? I never understood why they put sugar in coconut...it tastes sweet enough without it to me! Anyway, maybe you will share your recipe for the chicken???

CINDY: I am glad you are getting back to normal! Being sick is awful!

JACK: Lucky you getting a new table! I need a new dining room table and chairs in the worst way, but Tom and I have a terrible time shopping for furniture. I find something I like and he usually doesn't like it, and will find all kinds of things wrong with it...qualitywise usually. Drives me nuts. I am contemplating going out and buying one I like and having it delivered while he is at work!

Hey Girls!!

I'm Back!!! Ok - now that my Mardi Gras/Valentine binge is over....I'm back on track. I am up a few pounds but I'm not changing my ticker. I don't plan on being up for long so I'm leaving it like it is if that's ok with everyone!

JACK-K: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! Can I ask how old? HEE HEE!

DRUM: Welcome to the group! Everyone here other than me really knows how to do this plan right! I'm very wishy washy when it comes to sticking on plan! I guess that's why I'm still fat!! HAHA! Good luck to you!

Well, not much going on here other than we finally finished all of our classes and home visits for our foster/adopt program. Now we wait! I'll keep you posted on everything!

Well, I'm off to bed - see y'all tomorrow!

Default Good Tues morning

Well, on my day off I managed to bake some sourdough bread, and make sf jello. Also shoveled off the back deck and the front steps. Does that count as exercise too? I hit the treadmill pretty hard yesterday morning and walked for 60 mins while watching TV(I love tivo). I think I ate pretty well too. Bacon, egg and cheese on sourdough w/ glass of milk
chicken rice soup(Progresso)
pork chop and rice side dish(not totally legal, but I didn't eat much of it)
and sf jello

today
b- same except sub green tea
orange and something else, not sure what yet.
I'm catching a cold(first one all season) and nothing tastes really good.
I also have a billion errands to do today, plus hit the gym, so I may leave a little early today.
Off to try and be productive for a little while.
