That is awesome about your son! It's really exciting to watch out kids get out in the world and do well.
My daughter will be a senior next year and I don't look forward to the collage application process, especially after what poor Deb has gone through!

Deb

Default Hi Im new!

Hi! Im thinking of starting SB this weekend! Im really hoping this will work for me! I just had a baby 3 months ago and have already lost the 35-40 lbs I gained during my pregnancy without dieting or exercising. But now Im stuck at my prepregnancy weight. Id like to lose 40-50 lbs now.
Any helpful hints on getting started? I have the Blue SB book that I bought a year or so ago so I plan on following this. What are good snacks? Nuts?? Veggies?

Thanks!
Michelle

AFTERNOON EVERY BUDDY!!

No new news on CARLIE, but they have found dna of some kind in the car. Now, that could be just a hair, but at least it's something. They MONSTER has Lawyered up and isn't saying a word! I'm so afraid that after all this time.......They now have the enhanced pictures back from NASA, and they will be releasing them soon. Hopefully, it will show a better look at this guy.
I'm still asking for your prayers for this precious child...Our whole entire community is just beside themselves.

JACKIE...I'm still sending good thoughts your way. Hopefully, Debbie will have some good news for us a little later. {{{{{{{{{{{{{JACKIE}}}}}}}}}}}

SUSAN...I didn't buy anything, I went to the website and their prices are the same as QVC...so I'll keep buying from Janice. I wanted that bag as well and will keep my eyes open for it...let me know if you see it first, and I'll do the same~

Keng-- Here is that recipe for General Tso's Chicken

1 pound boneless skinless chicken breast
1 T cornstarch ( I used 2 T WW flour)
1 egg white
1 T dry sherry
1 T lite soy sauce
1 t dark sesame oil
1 t Splenda
1/4 t hot red pepper flakes
1/4 t salt
1/4 t white pepper
2 T peanut oil
1-1 inch piece fresh gingeroot, peeled and minced
1 clove garlic minced
1 small green pepper seeded cut into 1 inch strips
2 green onions with tops cut into 1 inch pieces

Rinse chicken and pat dry. Cut crosswise into 1/4 inch strips. Combine chicken and WW flour in large bowl. Add egg white; stir to combine, set aside.

Combine sherry, soy sauce, sesame oil, red pepper flakes, salt and pepper in cup; set aside.

Heat wok or heavy skillet over high heat about 1 minute until hot. Drizzle in peanut oil and heat. Add chicken; stir fry until chicken is no longer pink in the center. Remove chicken adn keep warm.

Reduce heat to medium.

Add gingeroot and garlic; stir fry 30 seconds; add green onions and green pepper; stir fry one minute. Return chicken to wok and add sherry mixture. Sitr fry until well mixed and heated through.

Will be back to post replies later.....gotta get a loaf of bread going and feed the dogs....

Chow!

Jackie-- I have been thinking about you all day. I know everything is going to be okay. ((((((HUGS))))))

Good afternoon to all you Sugar Buster's!

Been busy cleaning house and doing a bit of laundry today. Not much else happening. I have a boneless roast out that I am going to put on the showtime rotisserie tonight. Dh picked up some asparagus, so will have that with my usual dinner salad.

Hasn't snowed yet today.....but sure does look dreary. Hope that the snow is about done for the year. It sure gets tiresome.

Well, on to some replies......

Suzy -- You are a beautiful woman and your son is a living doll!! So nice to meet you!

Fillise -- Good afternoon to you!!

Wood -- Hello!

Deb -- Great idea! I did email you to count me in. Will also do the card thing tomorrow.

Trish --Your chili sounded so good that I am going to make some venison chili tomorrow for the pot luck on Saturday. I will have to start looking for some SF Popsicles, they sound good.

V -- You are doing a great job of getting yourself healthy!! And losing weight at the same time, isn't that wonderful??

Chrisd -- Oh, my gosh....your poor mother. Please let her know I am praying everything will be okay. Isn't it wonderful when you have to buy new clothes because all of your are TOO BIG!! Congrats on that.

Heart -- I wish I knew something that would help you. I know how frustrating it can be. Hang tough......and take it one day at a time. Maybe cutting out most of your carbs for a couple of days to detox?? Just an idea....don't know if it will help or not.

Cheryl -- Hi !!

Calla-- Welcome to the SB board. This is a great way to get take off those unwanted pounds and get healthy. I use my fruit servings as my snacks. Sometimes I will have a handful of nuts or some celery with NSA peanut butter. And veggies are good anytime!!

BOB --I have been following the story on the news. Prayers are going out for her and her family. I am sure the whole town is devastated. Keep us updated if you can.

Well, gang, thats it for now.

WORD ABOUT JACKK!!!

Hi, I work with Jackie Graves and she asked me to e-mail you and let you know how her surgery went today. Her daughter just called me and she is out of surgery and in the recovery room. They won’t be able to see her for about 2 hours but she is doing fine and is awake looking around. Everything went well, it was just a very long surgery. It was about 7 hours long. She will get all of the results back in about 48 hours from the pathology report. I will keep you informed of her progress if you would like me to do so. Thank you.

Also, got confirmation that the flower have been shipped. Hope they arrive nice and fresh and beautiful!!! Will let you know when I get the confirmation they have indeed arrived at the hospital.

Begged for my 5 minutes and that's about all I get - will get on here tomorrow.

Real quick CALILILLY Since I'm not able to type much at this moment, I'm sure the other gals on the board will not only welcome you, but happily answer ANY questions you may have. By the way, you're in good company, you have a lot of Floridians on this board, including myself I always say it MUST be something in our water! Whereabouts in Central Fl are you? We have people in Orlando, Jax, Sarasota, Tampa, and Miami, surely I forgot someone out there, not intentionally though.

Hi guys:

It has been a busy few days. I have managed to get to the gym 3 days this week and will go on Sat. a.m. as well.

I had to take Britt to her Gastro specialist after school yesterday which put us in rush hour traffic. We then were up early and to the Naturopathic doctor. This 'venture' is getting so expensive since insurance won't cover it; I sure hope it is worth the money and we start to see some improvement soon.

I need to find some snow gloves for Lane, but all the stores here are sold out and have the summer/spring stuff out already. I don't have any of Britt's old ones that are small enough. I have rec'd the items I ordered from E-bay and they will work out great (ski bibs for Britt & Lane, snow boots for Britt, and a coat for Lane....still waiting on Lane's snow boots). It sure beats paying full price for the stuff.

chrisd: No problem.....I get confused all the time. Rawhide is a great place to take out-of-town guests. Best of luck to your DM; the doctor who did the surgery should pay for the cost of the revision, even if another doctor does it, which I am sure your mom is wanting. Let us know. Britt hates shopping for clothing; she always has, and she is a girl.

Arcayne: You are doing great with your weight loss; keep up the great work. Glad to hear you are exercising....it will only accelerate your losses, and help keep you toned as you lose the "fat."

Gator: This is the nutrition class that I am taking...it is called Nutrition - Concepts & Controversies....it has been interesting.

Yellow: Yes, we have stayed in Ouray and Silverton, but they are both so small with limited availability. The hotels are pretty old and small too. We found a place in Telluride, but will be paying $165 per night/3 night minimum; most places are asking close to $300 a night.

Teensy: Not just a plateau, but a gain, and you've been good....things that make you go hmmmmmmm. It will come back off and you will get to your goal, just hang in there.

Wood: Congrats to DS on acceptance to college; that is such an accomplishment; I am sure you are just beaming!! Best of luck to your other DS.

Suzy: Love the new avatar; it's just so tiny....Nice to put a face with a name. Your DS sure looks like he is having a good time.

Deb: Thanks for taking care of the flower order; she will be surprised and it will brighten up her day. Sorry it turned into such a pain in the butt.

vmoore: I take it you are liking the pilates??? I have got to give mine a try.

heart: Get a grip~you can do it!!!!! Just say NO! You've been here before, you can get past it again. You need to get into those 160's...remember Miss Aerobics instructor!

Call: Welcome to our little world. Best of luck to you. My books are Red, so I'm confused on what book you have. Check the general info. board, there was a thread started a few weeks ago that lists people's staple foods, and you will get a lot of good snack/meal ideas on there. Any questions, just ask. Congrats on the new baby!!!

Well, I really gotta run!

Take care!
Nat

P.S. I had a Boomi bar today; anyone hear of them? It was homemade with cashews and almonds & HONEY, and a few other natural ingredients but the sugar grams for the entire bar were only 3g, so I am going to indulge once in awhile. It was really yummy! Nice to have a few options.

See ya!

Hi,
I was so pleased to hear that Jack-k is out of surgery and doing well. I have been thinking about her all day.

I can't believe it.....I walked 5 miles today. I have this pedometer that works over the internet and the site has been having a little insentive program to get people to walk. If you walk a certain distance in 30 days they will send a little prize. Well, I am suppose to walk a little over 10,000 steps per day but got behind (no surprise there) and I am having to play catch up. The prize is small but it is good for me to try to achieve a goal since I am so competitive even with myself. Only 7 more days to go and it will be mine!

Teensybean: The recipe for General Tso's Chicken sounds wonderful. I have been hungry for Chinese and it is just not wise to try to go out to have it when the family is trying to cut fat as well as carbs. This is the perfect recipe for us. Thanks!

Deb: Thanks for the update on Jack-K.

Default Evening . . .

Things here are going well. Work was a lot better today and I am very thankful that tomorrow is Friday! Got my little guy's haircut this afternoon after school. He stays after on Thursdays and helps the physically challenged kids do Special Olympics - which is something that he is enjoying tremendously. My oldest is in everything under the sun - garden club, safety patrol, chorus, etc. - so this gives Danny something that he can do and call his own. I had him get his haircut because on Saturday he makes his first reconciliation. Not that anyone will care what his hair looks like, but obviously he needed it anyway.

DEB - Thanks for the update on Jack-K. She has been on my mind all day - as with everyone else. I am glad that things went well. I am sure that she will be so pleased and surprised when she receives our flowers tomorrow. What a wonderful thing for you to think of . . . thanks for all the hard work. I have a paypal account (well DH does) but it is for a c.c. - so I'll probably have to send you my money via snail mail. Sorry . . .

BOB - My thoughts and prayers are for the little girl and her family. May God help us to locate her safely and soon . . . with any luck. Please keep us updated - you may hear something before the networks.

PANCHO - Glad that your trip planning is coming along. Sorry that you and Britt had an exhausting afternoon.

TEENSY - We are expecting some kind of snow/ice storm tonight and all day tomorrow. Should be great with the Friday commutes. I am usually sick of winter by March. Unfortunately, with the past few years, we have had snow up to and through April. By then I am done!

CALLIE - WELCOME to the board. You will love it here - great place to meet some wonderful people and get some help with SB along the way. Good luck!

V - You are doing awesome - Congrats on your weight loss!

CHRISD - So sorry to hear about your mother! I hope that she can get the treatment and help that she needs. Please keep us posted!

Okay - need to get lunches, clothes and backpacks ready for the morning. Will check in then -

Hope you all have a great night
Take care . . .

HiedieHo All!

DIL is doing much better, she'll be able to go to work tomorrow.

Did my usual NH bit and then entertained this afternoon. It was a very responsive audience, sometimes they're not depepnding on the level of the population.

Spent time between sitting on floor (that was stupid! eventually I had to get up!) going through mt stack of LPs (you old folks remember those) looking for Irish songs and novelty tunes. Getting up a major project, I was so stiff!

When I came home after the entertaining I was telling DIL about looking for songs. That a couple, like McNamara's Band, I couldn't remember all the words. She suggested the internet as GD goes to one all the time for current music. So I found McNamara, Clancy, Mrs. Murphy's Chowder and a couple of others I saw. I need to pick two to four songs to sing for our March entertainment program. Now I can just print out words instead of typing them and trying to remember ones we don't have musin for, what a time saver that will be. Easier on my poor little brain too!

Anyway, you know how it is when you start searching for something.............it's at least an hour shot! Ate supper and did something I never do. I actually fell asleep while stitching! I might do that while reading, doing puzzles or watching TV, but never while stitching. I must have been tired. I was watching Friends while stitching, the next thing I knew ER was on!

I hope Deb relizes how much we appreciate all she does for us. So thoughtful getting the flowers, making plans for LA, doing the Board and finding so much information for us. What would we do without her?!? Thank you Deb.

Now to skim the posts. Seems that's all I managed the last time I posted.

TEENSY: Your poor Aunt is sure having a rough time. Prayers. Thanks for psting the chicken recipe.

BOB: Don't worry about the panties, if we met right now you need to worry about water wings!

WOODFROG: Newburgh, NY!! I lived about 45 minutes from there, took my DD to swim meets at Mount St. Mary, and went to an alergist too. Home of IBM. Do you live near there or will DS have to leave home? Small world!

SUZY: You were right on in your post to Monet. I told her she needed help too. Sometimes things are so overwhelming we don't seek the help we should. Cute picture.

FRUIT: I will do the lasagna. Frozen it will probably take until Saturday to thaw! I'm so psyched! Some people just seem to think we are hicks, we do wear shoes on occasion! LOL. We'll have to show them how sophisticated we can be! You know we could use forks and spoons! LOL

CHRIS: Prayers for your mother.

CALLALILLY: Welcome. Walnuts, caschews, peanuts. The usual veggies except no corn, beets, white potatoes. Triscuits, cheese, fruit, peanut butter, NSA yogurt. I'm drawing a blank now but there are others, I'm sure you'll get suggestions.

Taking a nap so late in the evening is not good! It's 2a.m. and here I am! It is raining buckets and the wind is blowing!!!

Take care, Shirley

Default Friday Morning

Well, I woke up this morning and was watching the news while I made my bed. Unfortunately, there was breaking news from CNN that they found a little girl's body in Florida that they are identifying as Carly, the missing 11 year old. How awful! What a sick, sick world this can be at times. I'm sorry BOB - I know that this has been tough on you b/c she was from your area. I suppose if there is any sort of comfort, it would be that the suspect is in custody so as to stop him from doing this again to some other innocent little girl. But still . . . such an awful, awful tragedy. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with her family and all who knew her.

Okay - don't have much more to say. I'm sure the boards will be quiet this w/e b/c of all you "par tay" people going to Fruit's! Have a safe trip and remember, I expect pictures - lots and lot of pictures!

Lastly - still thinking of you Jack-K and will write you later today at the hospital.

Have a good one - remember to laugh when you can - it helps your mental state considerably!

Good Friday Morning

Dreary day in more ways than one down here. The news about them finding Carlie dead does not surprise me, only saddens me more. I knew she wasn't alive, it was just a matter of time til they found her, and thankfully, they did. I heard she was found behind a church off I-75 but then on the news they were saying that they weren't giving details to where she was found. I'm sure we'll be hearing more of the tragic news as the day progresses.

I don't know about all of you on the board but I just get more disgusted as the days grow long about what's going on in this world. This JJ thing, well, I'm not a prude, but something like that was bound to happen somewhere. I don't like that they have pushed the envelope with regular TV and the way they talk on there nowadays. I hate it when they think they HAVE to have a word that, to me, is still offensive to hear on television. Even soap operas they say ***** and *******. And haven't they shown Dennis Franz's butt on TV? They keep pushing it and pushing it and before long, nothing will be censored. I'm hoping that this incident that happened makes the FCC open their eyes. Want to hear that stuff, buy cable and have that option, I think.

THEN, down here, a little 14 year old boy who was in a magnet middle school for the arts, they found his throat slashed in the boys bathroom on Tuesday morning. This school is a couple miles from ELI'S store, REALLY nice area. His best friend cut his throat with a knife - with friends like that, who needs enemies! Now, you have a 14 year old in jail for first degree premeditated murder and another one dead. When LAUREN went to her meeting for the Healthy Kids Project she's doing she found out the little boy that was killed was in the yellow group, she's in blue.

THEN yesterday, two boys IN THE 4TH GRADE raped a 10 year old girl in a bathroom in a school somewhere in N. Dade. What the heck is going on with these kids????????????

Gosh, I have to thank my lucky stars each and every day that I am so blessed with my kids. I look at children running around with no supervision, kids who are so young walking along the street-maybe I was over protective of my kids, but I wouldn't let them walk alone like that ever. I always thought of the possibilities that could possibly take place. This is one reason I am home, otherwise my kids wouldn't be able to get around safely to everything they need to go to.

Okay, enough rambling, just count me in as one of the millions of disgusted parents out there that wonders if there can ever be a change to good old fashion values, simpler times and feeling safe for your kids

My Mom is sick, my sister and a couple kids are sick and it seems I'm fighting it off too. I keep sneezing, throat's itchy, it doesn't know whether to come or go! Tired too and may crawl back in bed for a little while.

Eating sucked, well, around 8pm is started to suck, up til then it was good. I haven't journaled in quite a while so I'm going to attempt to get back in to that routine today and see if that will help me along. Honestly, I just don't feel IT'S there today, but I'm going to try and push myself to make it be THERE

I will check the status of the flowers later. I have a tracking number so will know when they are delivered. I hope they are not only pretty, but that they will last a long time and brighten her day. Thank you ALL for pitching in to help!!! Please remember to try and get an e-card through the hospital sent today. I just realized that they DO NOT deliver cards over the weekend and it takes 24 hours to get to her. Cards need to be sent today, before Noon to get to her in this time frame, otherwise, they won't deliver them til Monday, so please try to get this done before Noon if you want to send a note to her

https://secure.bhsi.com/www.baptisteast/ecard.asp

Please don't mention the flowers unless you already have read that I found that they've arrived - just don't want to give away the surprise

MICHAEL got word that he will be staying in a dorm St. Louis with a kid who seems to be from Africa, though he seemed to live in OHIO. Seems to be a VERY brilliant kid and MICHAEL is so looking forward to going even more!

I want to get this posted so you can all see it now, will go get something to eat and come back on later to try and read some of the goings on of the board.

Morning all!

It's a dreary morning here in more ways that one. We have tons of rain falling, but to wake up to the news about Carly. . . I have an 11 year old niece, so this one is hitting close to home for me.

As soon as I finish this post I'm going to send Jackie her card.

I hope everyone has a good OP day today!

Morning everyone. My heart just aches for the family of that poor girl. I hope that they string that man up by his you know what. Hearing the anguish that this poor family has gone through certainly puts some of the insignificant things in my life in perspective.

I'm going to try and go out this week-end and buy a new scale. Any suggestions?

V-Which pilates tapes do you have and how long have you been doing them.

ChrisD-So sorry to hear about all your mother is going through. Tell her not to stop with the first answer she gets from the insurance company. Obviously this is now a matter of medical necessity. Keep going up the food chain (sorry no pun intended).

Heart-Those gloomy days can really take over our moods can't they. I know how you feel. Just keep remembering how far you've come. I remember when you were trying to get out of the 190's and how frustrated you got. Look where you are now!

Callalilly-Hi and welcome. Glad you finally took the plunge and jumped in with us. One of my favorite snacks is apple with peanut butter. Nuts are good but easy to overdo or at least they are for me.

BOB-I was so sorry to hear the news about that poor sweet girl.

Teensy-Hope your chili was as good as mine. I buy the actual Popsicle brand of sf popsicles. They're in a yellow box and I think they're the best ones.

Nat-Glad you found a place to stay. Have fun!

Lyn-I may try and call you this week-end. Are you going to be around?

Suzy-What a sweet boy you must have.

Shirley-I got tickled at your falling asleep while stitching. My DH can fall asleep anywhere. Really ticks me off!

Deb-I got my e-card sent and got my confirmation back. Thanks for the link, how cool is that!

Susan (and BOB)-I'd really like to try Bare Minerals. For someone that uses a minimum amount of make-up, what would you recommend to start out with. Also, any experience from someone that has used this that has oily skin?

Well, guess I better scoot. Talk to you guys later.
