Thursday
Hello all you wonderful SB supporters!!! I think I am back to normal today. I had a few times yesterday where I didn't feel so great, but I think today will be a good day.
Monet, can you use that same recipe for beef jerky in a food dehydrator? It's so wonderful that you are getting in good nights sleep. I am so happy for you. Zanne, congrats on changing your night time snacking habits! I have also found that I don't seem to snack at night anymore either, although I still sit in front of the T.V. (with my water) and watch how the war is going and all. Now if I could just get the hubby to do the same thing!!! Agape, I know how it is to have a child who likes to tear up stuff. My kids are always doing something like that. My oldest one is the "hyper" one of my bunch, but for some weird reason she's not like that at school. My SIL's oldest child on the other hand is more than a handful. He's been on those brain numbing things for about 2 1/2 years now. They do calm him down quite a bit, but still not all the time. I think most of his problem is that he has too many people "bossing" him around and he just can't be a kid. I'm not saying that y'all do that, because I don't know you and all, and I'm gonna pray that y'all find a much more safe way to deal with it than my SIL has done. Got to go for now, be checking in later though. Have a wonderful day everyone. Jenn |
Monet, Get your rest. I tend to forget that fatigue is a side affect of RA & Lupus. Since I have gone off half my meds I have noticed that I am so tired in the evenings. I an wondering if this is the reason. I just may have to go back on my methotrexate next week when I visit the Dr. So get all the rest you can. Need to take care of you.
Trish, we have a team in Lou like that and work has tickets. We go some and it is fun. Agape and Trish, I have also read that corn is a big stimulant for hyper children along with the sugar. Sounds like they need to be on SB. Fillise, I'm so glad your life style chagnes led you here to. I love yur new attitude and positive outlook. You will be soaring when Easter get here and probably in a new outfit to boot. Jackie |
Quick question
Hi, just a quick question.
I know that you should limit your carbs, even if they are WW etc., to no more than 3 a day but can you have two carbs in one meal. I brought a turkey roll-up on a WW bread for lunch and I was going to have my oat bran pretzels with it. I just realized that this may not be legal. Let me know please.:dizzy: |
Hey All:wave:
Had all intentions to get in a post earlier today before we left for the day but got stuck on the telephone with AOL TECH SUPPORT trying to fix a problem that I've had with sending e-mail and it took up all my free time. Was able to get in my walk today - it was hard, one of those days my legs felt like logs. It took me 1hr and 13 seconds to do my 4.5 miles. I almost didn't go, then was only going to do 3.5 miles - so this was better than nothing. Didn't do WIW today - bloated, TOM is due Friday - joy-oh-joy! BUT, even though I'm feeling bloated, I do feel a little better and feel I've lost "something" I really have felt great about not being a slave to the scale as I have been for so many years - it's like outta sight, outta mind!!!! We went up to Broward today, not for long though, took LAUREN. ELI was getting on my last nerve - he just loves to drive me nuts and today, he was on overkill. Maybe it's PMS that's making it worse than normal, I don't know. I just couldn't wait to get home! Tired today as well so that's another problem. Hoping to hit the hay early tonight, won't be hard since ELI has to be up around 3am and needs to go to bed early as well. THANKS TO THOSE OF YOU WHO JOINED ME IN THE CHAT ROOM LAST NIGHT - it was great "talking" to you all AND to find those new sounds! Time for replies before I get booted off that computer! CHACHA, CONGRATS on your first week. I hope you'll be more of a poster than a lurker - you'll get so much more out of the board :) QUILTER, good job for staying the same - I'm sure next week will show a drop, maybe even sooner. Hope you are feeling better, take care of yourself, or better yet, tell PAUL to do it!!!! MONET, good going on getting the scale to go in the right direction. I'm sure it will continue it's downward trend. Which books did you get. Yeah, right, easy peasy to make for someone who cooks! MELF, I'm sorry that you had trouble in the chat room last night - after all this time. Hopefully, it was an isolated incident and it won't happen again. JACKK, okay, spill the beans on this parafin wax treatment. OKAY, I'M STARTING THIS POST AGAIN, IT'S THURSDAY ALREADY!!! Geez, what a crappy day I had, I can just add to it today, it was non-stop! We p/u MICHAEL and his friend Alex yesterday from Alex's house. When we get home, MICHAEL tells me he wants/has to go to a art exhibit, back the way we just came, closer to Alex's house! I was tired, hungry AND pissed off! It took 25 minutes and then, I had to stay there because I sure wasn't going to go home and go back, another hour in the car! THEN he got in a pissy mood and was the most obnoxious child I've ever seen. He's on my doodie list today - don't care if he's my kid or not! He better not even THINK about asking me to take him anywhere if he knows what's good for him!:s: THEN, here it is, spring break, right? Had to take LAUREN to school again today - I thought I'd get a break from going there this week - yeah, right! Well, despite my crappy demeanor, I got my 4.5 miles in. No clue to time, my Walkman finally bit the dust, so I have not clue of the time it took me. Just should be glad I got out there. I do have to say, since I've not mentioned it for a while, my eating has been 100% OP, not a single cheat for the last week, water I'd say, almost every day I've met the challenge and I've definitely got the exercise challenge met for this week:D TRISH, glad to see you got the scale going down again. I'm sure you'll drop those other pounds soon. Just 3 veggies? Geez, that's better than my 0! Where are you and ROSE going to meet? JEC, CONGRATS on your loss this week! As long as the scale is headed in the right direction, exact numbers aren't all that important. 23 pounds is awesome! Keep up the great work! JANE, you'll get the scale going in the right direction. Just remember, one of the keys of success to this WOE is PATIENCE!!!!!:D If you want, you can e-mail me and I'll be happy to let you know what I think your intake should be - just e-mail me your current and goal weight, height and age. There's not too much restrictions on how many snacks, thank goodness, as I sorta eat whenever I want. Just have to watch the starchy carbs and know what servings actually are. Anyhow, my e-mail is [email protected] And yes, you could have 2 servings of carbs in one meal, I don't see where it ever said you couldn't. AGAPE, was nice to talk to you and DD today! Thanks for the brocolli rabi tip, let's just see if I now make it. Continued success to you both! VES, was good talking to you last night. Would of talked longer but the cell phone was going to die on me. Was so nice to see your post - a shocker! okay, the following is for you, but I'd like to pass the info on to the rest of the board as well... The question was asked about a good protein drink. Now, I don't buy these, maybe once since I started SB, but I wasin a HFS the other day and I can't tell you what prompted me to purchase 2 cans of this stuff, but I did. Well, I have to admit, I personally thought it was great! I would say, if you needed something on the go, this could be a possibility, but try to keep it for emergencies, as you all know, it's always best to EAT. So here's the name of the company of that protein drink I thought was delicious, though expensive...it's ULTRA PURE PROTEIN and it's made by MET-RX, The one I got was CAPPUCCINO flavor (forgot the other one, it's in the fridge, unopened) and the nutritional info is: 1 can/11oz 170 calories 1 gram fat 3 grams carbs 2 grams sugars 35 grams protein also, what I liked about it 100% calcium! For anyone interested their phone number is 1-800-55-MET-RX. There are 6 flavors I was told. This website doesn't have this info YET! But you can call, TONY {at the company} said so!!!!! Hope this helps VES!!!!! COUNTRY, WTG with the scales yesterday. CONGRATS on reaching a new low! OMG, just 2 pounds more and you'll be under the 150 mark - AWESOME!!!!! ZANNE, sometimes the scales go up for no reason, the thing to do is to make sure you stick it out because as mysterisouly as they go up, they come down! FILLISE, you continue to do well. When does Lent end? Next year you say? ROSALIE, glad to see WIW was good to you!:D Okay, what kind of line dancing is it exactly if it's not country. I thought that's all there was! HEART, so what made you eat all you did? If we can figure out what your triggers are maybe we can help fend off these tough times. But hey, the way you made it sound, and only to have gained a pound, it couldn't of been too too bad. To anyone I missed, it's not intentional and I say HELLO to you as well:wave: I have to jump in the shower, I can't believe it's almost 12:30pm! Want to go make a piece of salmon for lunch, maybe I should make it first and THEN go in the shower, sometimes I end of smelling like salmon after I made it! Will check in later!!! Oh, I posted a few recipes on the new quarter recipe board the other day, one for a pizza crust sounds interesting! {{{HUGS}}}:grouphug: Debbie |
Good morning ladies...it is sunny on my mountain today but once again we had a heavy evening snow. It is so nice that some of you gals have actually witnessed spring's arrival:cool: For the last few days I've concentrated on just eating "legal" foods. Now I must be more aware of portion control. I've been overdoing the fruits... after doing Atkins for so long fruit is such a treat. :cb: . I am really feeling well after last month's radiation treatments and today will get out for a wee walk. I really admire so many of you for your good exercise habits:strong: . I've been a total exercise slacker and admit to occasional using my illness as a excuse. How silly since I've only hurt myself with my laziness. Somehow I've been able to share here with complete honesty and wow it feels nice to have such "real" feedback. Ok...this day is my gift and I shall treat myself and others with kindness..thank you all for your on-going motivation!! Let's all have a great day...Lori

Here are a couple replies:
FILLISE: I was certified in Art Education a few years back and I want to renew that, and hopefully find a job. Unfortunately, art ed jobs are hard to find, but maybe the Lord will be gracious to me.... JANE: I have had lupus for a LONG time. Mine really improved when I stopped using dye on my hair. I think I am chemical sensitive. I hope your sister in law is able to get into a remission soon. Lupus can be scary! JACK: Maybe you are tired because you are doing so much, and like me, you are over the hill now! ;) Seriously, it could be a natural type of tiredness. Especially if your joints are not bothering you. Hope that is the case! TRISH: That jerky recipe is really easy. Hope you enjoy it! DEB: That jerky recipe IS really easy! Just cut the meat up, salt it with some seasonings, lay it out and bake it. Sorry you are having to deal with driving kids who drive you crazy. You could have told him no! It is not easy to let loose and let them start driving themselves, but it sure makes life easier on you....I can send Laura to the store now, when I need something. Here, it is illegal for them to have anyone other than a family member in the car for the first six months, so that helps. JECRITES: I don't know why you couldn't use the jerky recipe in a food dehydrator. It will probably work better than the oven even! Let me know if you try it. I will be interested to hear how it turns out! GRIN: SNOW??? Man...and my azaleas are about ready to be in full bloom! I have two bushes that need to open a bit more for it to be a carpet of flowers in the front. I just can't imagine snow! HEART: As long as you keep taking those two steps forward, the one step back is not going to ruin it! :) You are staying below 200, and that would make ME happy! Wish I was there too! ZANNE: I had not heard that the eastern provinces of Canada were having flooding. I too, hope Gracious is ok. |
Hi guys, I 'm still here, just getting over a stomach virus...
I'm a bit off program right now, the only thing I could eat was a banana and saltines. Still not feeling very well. Hopefully in a day of so I will be back on track! Chris |
Need Opinions
I just found this BROWN RICE SYRUP at the HFS. It says it could be used in energy bars, muffins, cookies, fruit salads, smoothies-"it's great in just about everything".
So what do you guys think? Would this be legal??? I was thinking I could use it instead of agave. It would be great if I could. it's only $4.29 CAN for 21 oz. I was paying close to $5 CAN for 8oz of the agave. Thanks in advance for the input. |
I'M GOING TO ORLANDO

I've been waiting to see if he'd come anywhere near Miami and today I saw her would be in Orlando, so I bought 2 tickets, though I'm not sure who the heck will go with me yet! Anyone want to meet me there that weekend???? YIPEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Thursday afternoon
Good afternoon. Just as I thought, today has been better than the last 2 have been for me.
Monet, I'll make sure to let you know how it turns out when I have the chance to try it. We have been in this house about 4 months now and don't have everything unpacked because we are planning to get moved onto the base sometime this summer, so I have no idea where my dehydrator is, but when I do find it I plan on trying your recipe. The whole family loves jerky, and when you buy it you sure don't get much for your money now days. Deb, Just wanted to tell you that my book came in today and I started reading it as soon as I got it out of the package!!! Got to go now, I'm really interested in reading this book!!! I'll check back later. Jenn |
Hi,
Just wanted to check in to let you all know that I am still around. This week I got to chat with Melf as well as Trish....both fine ladies! My daughter and I are going to meet in Austin, TX near where Trish lives and she has agreed to meet up with us in Austin. I am looking forward to visiting with her again. She always makes me laugh and feel good about things. I am still in the recovery mode and being careful to do the exercises the doc told me. My arm/collar bone is still weak but I have only been out of the sling a week now. I am still hoping to get to NC by the first week of May at the latest. My husband and I have started doing some walking. Before I always wanted to go alone because I did not always want to walk when he decided. Now, we have a set time and since he lets me set the pace, it is working out. He needs to get out and get some sunshine and he feels like he is protecting me. I have been walking with the sling on but today maybe, I will go without it and see how it works. Love to all. |
Thursday Evening:
Hello SB land,
Today is a wonderful day, a bit cooler than yesterday. A bit gloomier, but the sunshine is inside me. My daughter and I talked with Debbie earlier today and she is just a very bubbly person and it can't help but spilled over on you. I love to laugh. Reason being, a few years ago, I was very depressed. NOTHING could make me laugh or cry. I just did a lot of staring. My children would get movies that they just knew would move my heart one way or another, but nothing happened. Then, ONE DAY, I mustarded up strength to look up and say LORD HELP ME! And you what, HE did. So that is one reason why I love HIM so much. And now I laugh and cry all of the time. Sometimes I even laugh and cry at the same time. I don't even know why I'm revealing all of this, I just felt like someone could use this real life story about me. Zanne ~~ That's really good infomation. I certainly will check out trampolines for DD and DGS. It's warming up a bit and that will give him a chance to burn some of that energy. I also found a Church not far from me that have gaint blow up thingies for the children, on Friday's and Sat's. I really appreciate your suggestions. I'd to know if the brown rice syrup is legal, too. Jackie ~~ The doctor gave him a natural supplement, which has aloe vera, calcium and lecithin. I was very opposed to just some pills to slow him down. We know he needs a release to burn up that energy. Thanx for caring. I totally agree with the overdoing legal stuff. Monet ~~ Please take care of yourself. I really don't know anything about lupus. Rest is really important in life period. I do know that the body heals itself at nite. One lady doctor I heard speak over a year ago, says we should try to go to by 9, no later than 10 because that is when certain healing hormomes are excreted. This WOE should help you, too. By the way I did print out your jerky recipe, sure sounds delicious. Trishaloo~~ Many thanx to you. I am passing all info I get in hopes that it will help my DGS. He is such a bright little boy, catches on to everything really easy. I will print out all suggestions and give it to my DD. And he also has uncontrollable outbursts. WHEW! Fillise ~~ I was able to come off of sugar using Lent. A friend challenged me to give up something for 40 days last year. I knew in my heart it would have to be sugar because you can't do any program eating sugar the way I did. That particular day I ran into the kitchen to get coffee going (she had called me really early that morning) and dumped lots of sugar into my coffee. The rest of the day I sugar-ed down. I will try OXY in my next wash. Sun glasses? That is cute. I like that kind of clean! My DGS is on this WOE. My DD has the whole family on it except DH, He is hard headed. Debbie ~~ It was good to talk to you today. I will be going to World Market tomorrow to get the pot pies. I ask if they had authentic Indian maize and she said they had guaranteed organic, meaning nothing had been done to it. So is that the good stuff we can have. She insisted it hadn't been altered in any way. Can you please check this out for me? OK, have anyone tried using spelt. I bought some the other day at the health food store and haven't the foggiest what I will make with it. And tonite I will be making something of the the board and tomorrow I will give my report. All I know is, that it will be a dessert. Have a blessed and wonderful rest of the day! Maybe I can get back on later. Loves yas, LJunel (slim and healthy) |
Whew, I'm exhausted. My feet are killing me. Need a good foot massage.
Headed out to run some errands. DH is cutting fish tonight for the fish fry so I will get some things done and then head home to work out and maybe start my cleaning for the weekend. Deb, when those kids and Eli get on your last nerve, take a walk. Helps sooth the nerves and a little extra benefit too. Sometimes we have to wonder why we had them. There were some wedding calls to be made and DD said she didn't have time at work to do that. Guess what I do isn't considered work. I honestly think we did this to them. We do way to much for our kids. I guess it is too late now. Grin, I bet a little walk will surprise you on how good it makes you feel. But take it easy. I just lover your signature motivation. So true. Just wish we would all live by it. Idblond, I don't envy you will all 3 little ones sick. Give them some TLC and hope they get better soon. Monet, I wish age with the culprit, but my feet are bothering me again and my carpal tunnel is soaring. So I'm afraid I will need to go back on some of the meds. Chris, Hope you are feeling better soon. Deb, Who is John Edwards? Tranquil, Jump back on track and you will be fine. Congrats on your 1 yr anniversary. Yellow, So good to hear from you. Have fun with your meeting with Trish. Your DH needs to get he did such a fine job of nursing you. Maybe you should wear your sling when you walk. My arms always hurt after my walk. Hard to raise them, plus fingers well. Glad you are feeling better. Agape, I'm glad you had a revelation and are happy again. Have a great evening everyone. Jackie 257/157/145 10-10-01 |
