Oh, did I mention I was bloated-heck, might as well ***** all I can, my license expires soon! TOM is due Friday, another great event I look oh so forward to:rolleyes:

TRANQUIL, good to talk to you, happy I was able to get words out, I thought I was being gassed to death! Geez, can you imagine, a man in his 50's finding such enjoyment as that?!? See what you have to look forward to my dear?

TRISH, I do believe you need a trip to the DETOX DUNGEON! Okay, wishful thinking, but maybe a call would do????

COUNTRY, I'm hoping we can get some of those gifs up by next week - what do you think? I just need some time to see if I can work on them. The WHOOSH site I sent you, do you know if we can put a page together like they have, with the <img>? I'm so computer stupid!!!!!

JACKK, wow, 250 people for a pizza party. I'd love to be that pizzeria! Is this for the company you work for?

TV, sorry I didn't acknowlege your bday. Withouth your BIO on the BIO BOARD I don't have the information, trust me, it wasn't intentional, I'd never forget you had I known. BUT, I've redone my Monthy Birthday Post and you are now recognized:D Unbelievable that DS's prescription doubled, at such a young age. Oh well, maybe he'll make better cathes than last year. Good luck to them both!!!

MOMMA, CONGRATS on both the exercise and the drop on the scale. We'll give you some slack on being on the board, we know, you were out exercising!!!!!;)

MONET, will look for that herb, have read about it in the past. The flashes don't come that often, thank goodness, but boy, when they come, it seems it's always when I'm asleep and I sweat up a storm!

JEC, I know you have LOTS to do around the home, I'm sure you don't mean you have nothing to do. I don't have a job, haven't had one in over 3 years, not that I like it but honestly, between the kids and their school, running them from here to there, the board, going with ELI to Broward (county about an hour from us) on his day off-who has time to work???? I always said I'd be here while my kids were still in school, would work p/t if I could find something while they are in school, but that's been my #1 priority. I do believe my being home has made a world of difference. Both kids have perfect attendance, excellent grades, I know all their friends, they are well behaved, don't cuss, don't smoke, don't do drugs. The biggest problem I have is probably that they can be slobs-if that's my biggest problem, I'm blessed! LOL! I'm sure we're not alone with the dessert issue. I always laughed when I was on WW and they said you could eat a 1/2 cup of ice cream, for me, it's more like a half-gallon. You can have the chips, potatoes, breads, etc. just give me candy, ice cream, cake and cookies!

LIN, WTG GIRL!!! You sure are up on this weeks challenge!!!! Thanks for not only doing the challenge, but the review as well as posting the recipe. Do you know who posted it originally? I was able to load the picture on to m ftp site on AOL but it's pretty darn big to post on the board, so I'm going to post the link. I will try to find a way to make it smaller. I use to have a good program on my old computer but I still haven't figured out if I have one on this one or not. Anyhow, here's the link:

EVERYONEONE, THIS IS LINWORTH'S PICTURE-JUST CLICK ON THE LINK BELOW:

QUILTER, I think it's probably harder for people who live in the cold to get their engines going in the morning than it is for us. But, then again, come the summer heat, no one down here wants to go outside where there's no a/c! Did your TM buddy say anything about the MM message you sent her?

Tomorrow I'm going shopping with my Mom. She needs a new stove and a new light fixture for the kitchen. MICHAEL is at his friends tonight/tomorrow and LAUREN has to go to school til 6pm, so I'm free to run wild!!!!!

Well, I've caught up, at least as far as today goes. I'm going to attempt to get on here later to see if I can go back over Sat and Sun posts. Will try to check in later as well.

Later All!

Good Evening, eating went pretty good today too, there were a few exceptions, but not huge ones. I ate a 2 bite piece of apple crisp and had an egg roll. I feel good about eating the right things, on to tomorrow.

If any one wants the link to Diet Coaches just email me. I get those motivationals once a week and also a special Sunday edition ([email protected])

I'm always inspired by all of you, thank you.

Monday NIght-

Hello to all of my new SB friends. Today was the first day of my new beginning. My Total Body Trainer came this week end. It is AWESOME!! There are a total of 14 different strength training exercises that you can do. It came with 4 different weight bands. one 25, two 10 and one 5. You can use up to three bands for the resistance. I am starting out on the first circuit of 7 that they recommend for a total body work out. This machine is only 42" long and takes up no more space than a stationary bike. I am just so jacked. The work out this morning was hard on some, but not hard enough on others. Will have to increase the resistance on the AB CRUNCHES, and the LEG PRESSES. I have been using free weights for the last six months, but the last exercise is BICEP CURLS, and it was real hard to do the set of 25 with 15 pounds of resistance. But it will get better as I get used to the machine, and use it everyday.

Tomorrow will be very hectic, as we get ready for Ted's surgery on Wednesday. We are going to get as much done around here as we can. Want to get a load of wood pellets on the front porch, and get all the bedding washed, and alot of cooking done. It is about 50 miles to the hospital, so I am going to precook alot of chicken breast, so that when I get home at night I can just nuke them. Can't just stay in town because of my three babies. 2 Bassethounds and a Shar Pei mix.

So to all of you.... I wish you all the success you deserve. Keep OP and heres to lots of WOOOOSHES on the scales Wednesday. I will check in when I can for the next week. And will catch up as soon as we get him home.

miata1997 04-01-2003 03:15 AM

Hello everyone!!! I did make it to curves and it felt great. I did not do any arm exercises but did do extra jogging i place..I think this will work out well, so I will start going ever day. Eat ok Need to eat more vegies so will plan on that tomorrow.

Still haven't heard from dh. To thoes who missed it, he went to Vegas for a Viet Nam Veterans Motorcycle chapter meeting..There was people there from all over the united states..What do they do there? I have no idea. I bet they do alot of what they do here in Ukiah, sit around and talk war stories. He left on Wed and he got there sometime thursday I think. The last time I heard from him was on Fri morn. Now my neighbors heard from him and his friends on Sat and they said he was having a good time...Well hehad better be having a good time since he hasn't had time to call!!! I expect him tommorow sometime. I will be glad when he gets home, I kinda miss him and I am tired of just talking to the dogs and the bird.

Well going to watch the news before I get to bed, My dd will be going overseas in sept . I am so bummed. I don't want her to go but i will be a brave little toaster and send her with my blessing and love.

see all later..

I took an extra dose of my thyroid med yesterday, to meet the new level my doctor wants me on. I slept very well...for the first time in months! I am just so thankful to have a doctor who is staying on top of my problems, and willing to try things to solve them. Any other doctor would have told me to eat less and exercise more. He explained that my problem is obviously a T4 to T3 conversion problem, which most doctors would miss, since my TSH is below normal. I have suspected this, but it was nice to have it confirmed by a professional! ;) I am hoping this is the beginning of the end of my inability to lose!

TEENSY: I hope you see this.... Your hubby is in my prayers...and you! Wow...50 miles to the hospital is a long way! How long will he have to stay there? Your workout machine sounds great! Nothing like a new toy to motivate is there? :)

MIATA: I hope your hubby is having a good time, but gosh, he could call and let you know he is ok! Men!

LDBLOND: Glad you are doing well, and staying away from most no nos! Egg rolls are a fav of mine, and when I make them, I have a hard time resisting. Some are made with a dough that is more egg than flour. I bet they are almost ok!

DEB: I hope you try the black cohosh. It really helps. They have it standardized at GNC, and probably your favorite HFS would have it too.

LIN: Thanks for sharing about the recipe. I am going to have to try it. I wanted to complete the challenge last night, but ran out of time and couldn't find a recipe to use with my ground beef. Maybe tonight! :) Fight those cravings! You can do it!

QUILTER: Thanks for asking about the doctor stuff. I love this doctor. He is such a hoot. My daughter was laying face down on the table trying to sleep when he came in, so she asked him to give her a back massage. Since he is an osteopath, he knows that kind of stuff. He did all these chiropractic type moves, most involved wrapping his arms around her to crack her back. I accused him of just wanting to hug her. He is rather huggy...always hugs and kisses me, and her. When she is with me, he usually focuses on her, since he loves kids, and has told me repeatedly how gorgeous she is. She tends to demand attention anyway. Its just her personality. Anyway, it was a fun visit, even if it took all day. (appt.- 9:30, left there- 12 noon!) I feel very good about the changes he is making in my meds. I took the extra T3 last night before bed and slept more soundly than I have in months. Now if the weight starts coming off, I will be a happy camper!

JECRITES: I hope your little one is better soon! It is so hard when they are sick, especially with a fever! I always felt kind of helpless with fever. You are something else, cleaning under furniture and all! When you are done, want to come to my house and do mine? I am the worlds worst! :O

jane8760 04-01-2003 09:12 AM

Good morning

Good morning everyone. I want to thank you for all the support and information that you gave me yesterday. I was a stranger to you and you reached out in such a nice way. Thank you again.

Ok, now that it is a new day......I am going to buy the book and when I went shopping last night I read all the labels and made sure it only had 3 grams of sugar or less. Is that what I am basically supposed to do? I am wondering also what is the maximum "numbers" that I am supposed to have in a day? Is there a max? I'm sure the book will tell me this but I won't have a chance to get it for a couple of days.

Can I run a few items that I bought last night by you all and tell me if they are legal foods?

Snyder Oat Bran Pretzels
Sliced turkey from the deli - not honey roast
WW Sahara Roll-Ups
Tuna in water
Near East Brown Rice Pilaf

I have always had Carnation Instant Sugar Free Breakfast everyday with skim milk. Is this legal?

I am having crab cakes for dinner tonight and each one only has 1 gram of sugar....ok or not? I am planning on having a salad with them.

I had orange juice this morning. The sugar content was huge! Was this ok because it was a natural sugar or should I stay away from juices. They help me get in some fruit.
Speaking of fruit. I know that bananas are not legal but are grapes and strawberries ok? What about clementines?

I am having a turkey roll-up for lunch with 3 slices of turkey, lettuce, tomato and mustard. I will miss having chips with my lunch. I should have brought some soup! That would be ok wouldn't it?

Sorry I have so many questions!

Hope we all have a great day!

Serene 04-01-2003 09:13 AM

Good morning!

Thought I’d better check in before I appear to be AWOL again. I didn't mean to disappear from the board last week, however, work and home got super busy and I didn’t have a chance to post. I didn’t do very good with my eating either, which I know is because I wasn’t Checking in. Guess I will see how much damage I did when I weigh Tomorrow morning. I think a trip to the detox dungeon might be in order for me.

Monet, your post about not sleeping well and your doctor increasing your meds sure caught my attention. I haven't slept well in months either and couldn't figure out why. I haven't been been on thyroid medicine like I'm supposed to be so maybe that has something to do with it for me also. I finally have insurance again and am going to my doctor on the 14th and that is going to be the first isssue I ask her about. It must have felt great to get a good nights sleep! Thanks for sharing your medical woes. It helps a lot for those of us having the same symptoms.

Sorry I can't reply to more but I still have lots of work to do so must get busy. Will be back later and at chat tonight!

Have a great on program day everyone!

Wendy

linworthlady 04-01-2003 09:18 AM

Jane-Quickie post. Your grocery store items look perfect. It sounds like you are understanding the program. I've heard to lose weight you do need to keep your starchy carbs down to 3 or less per day. So your wrap will count as one. Deb knows all the #'s about fiber grams we should be eating, percentage of fats-carbs-protein in the diet, etc. But if you watch your starchy carbs and your serving sizes, there is not much else you need to count. I hope this helps.

Solly 04-01-2003 09:26 AM

Good Tuesday Morning.

Yesterday was so busy from the time I got up until I went to bed. I think I died last night. Don't think I even moved an inch. Didin't get my walk in, but did get my wt training done. DH had to cut grass and it was cold. Today is suppoesd to be 75 so we will definately walk tonight.

Invitations went out inthe mail today. Gosh that scares me. Means it's getting closer. I get a sick feeling in my stomach when I think about it.

Need to get busy.

TV, WTG on getting all that water in. You are on the right patch.

Deb, You can ***** all you want here. You never get a break. One day you are going to have to tell those kids they are on their own. You need a day just for Deb. You deserve it. Yes the pizza party is for one of our worksites. Just thought I was going to have another week to get it together.

GBMM, good job on your walking and the low on the scale. After awhile you forget about it being work, but actually enjoy it.

Monet, I hope all that adjusting your meds will get you moving in the right direction. You sound so satisfied with the results. It must have been nice to get a good night's sleep. What was the report on DD?

Jecrites, Sure hope you are not getting what the rest of your family has. Double up on some vitamin C and get some rest. If you have nothing to do you can come to my house and clean under my furniture.

Lin, No I didn't make it to the shower. But got to see all the stuff afterwards. It was given by her sorority sisters so I really don't think she wanted me there anyway. Keep some legal stuff to fight off those cravings.

Kim, I did wear my new dress, but ended up wearing tights instead of hose. Knees just looked too saggy. I'm so proud of you getting up and doing that TM w/o your friend. You are going to be so svelt by the time your reunion comes.

Ldblond, good job on your eating yesterday. Now make today 100% OP. You can do it.

Teensybean, Sounds like you are really motivated to use your new machine. Hope you love it. Good luck to your DH on his surgery tomorrow. Keep us posted on how it goes. Good for you planning ahead for your meals.

Miata, good fo ryou getting to curves. Take care of that arm. I bet Dh is having a wonderful time in Vegas. I can't imagine sending a son overseas much less a daughter. You must be very strong.

Jane, canned soups probably have too much sugar in them. I eat raw veggies with my sandwiches. The things you bought from the store look ok to me. If you go to sugarbusters.com and then to the sweet talk board, they have a link for newbie tips which are a great overview of the book until you can read it. Or where Deb said, Prettyimpressivestuff.com. Strawberries are fine, just stay away from raisens, bananas and watermelon. The only number we use is 3. 3 starchy carbs a day. Starch carbs are 1 pc of wwsg bread, 1/2 c brown rice. 1/2 pasta (ww), 1/2 c cereal. Good luck.

Serene, glad you dropped in we have missed you. Funny how checking in here keeps you legal. Jump back on here and the wagon and you will be fine.

Need to go to the recipe board for an idea for dinner tomorrow night. Good idea Deb.

Have a great day.

Good Tuesday Morning All:wave:

Just got in from doing my 4.5 miles in 54:36-not bad all things considering (like not sleeping well again last night). It's another gorgeous day here today and I wasn't going to let anything come in the way of my getting out there while the weather is nice.

I have to make this quick, I have to jump in the shower and get ready to take LAUREN to school AND go out with my Mom who should be arriving any second. I'll be gone all day and won't get back til evening probably.

Want to remind everyone

TONIGHT IS CHAT AT 9:15PM EST!!!!!!

Hope to see you all there!!!!!

Have a wonderful day!!!!

Debbie :D

jecrites 04-01-2003 10:08 AM

Hey everyone, I feel like crap today. I think I'm getting what everyone else here had. I tried to do my workouts this morning, but I couldn't get it done, I got started and just felt too bad to finish it. Hopefully I will just have a little of what they had and get over it by tomorrow sometime, I want to get back into the swing of my workouts and get this weight off ASAP!!!

Lin, since I'm new here and all, I don't know what you looked like before that pic was taken, but girl, I have to tell you that you look great!!! You are really a beautiful woman!!! Congrats on all your hard work you have done and are still doing.

Well ladies, that's gonna be it from me, maybe for the whole day as I feel bad. Will check back in when I can.

Jenn

Fillise 04-01-2003 10:43 AM

Good Tuesday Morning!

Morning all!

I was sooooo sick last night. Spent most of it in the bathroom, so I wasn't surprised to see another pound off today--but that is probably temporary. We'll see. Anyway I feel much better this am.

Still gorgeous here--and supposed to be a little warmer today. The flowers are amazing--especially the wisteria. There are just huge walls of purple flowers all over town. I LOVE this time of year!

Ok folks this is a Tuesday motivational post--but it is meant to scare you into healthy eating! When I was down in St. Pete last week, I was shocked by how much my aunt had detoriated in the last year--her physical and mental health. I was looking over her list of medications and noticed that she was on glucophage for type II dabetes. I had noticed that she had been eating sugar like it was going out of style--dessert after every meal--even when she claimed to be stuffed (she said the ice cream worked better than a Pepcid). Almost all the problems she is having are related to unctrolled diabetes. She could probably keep it under control with her diet--but she claims that she doesn't eat that much sugar(!!!!!!). Unfortunatley her mental state has detoriated to the point that I don't think she can control herself. She can barely walk, gets easily confused and is depressed. Dont let this happen to you! I came away more determined than ever to get this weight off and eat healthy!

Ld--Great movtivational post! One day I would love to be satisfied with two little bites of dessert (Hmmm, isn't it funny how wel all honed in on that one!)

Jane--Welcome to our board! I have been on SB for most of the last 2 and 1/2 years (with an appalling lapse last summer and fall). I lost 65 labs and regained almost 40--I've now lost 11.5 of what I regained which puts the loss frommy starting weight at 39 lbs. For snacks I eat mostly fruit, nuts and cheeses. After you get used to not eating added sugars in foods--grapes will begin to taste like candy to you! They will be all the sweet you want! Triscuits and salsa are also a good snack, though you have to e careful not to overdo it in the triscuits. I hope you find that this WOE helps you to get moving on the weight loss again!

BOB--I liked your motviational post too! Especially the part about egtting rid of the excuses--I have way too many excuses--probably one for each extra pound!

Zanne--Me time? Me time?? What's that? I'm really starting to feel the pinch of having virtually no weekends between my consulting practice and my church work. I think something will have to give soon.

Grin--Welcome! You are so smart to stay away from the scale! Do what you need to do and the rest will follow. I talked about my weight gain a little earlier, but when I measured myself a day or two ago--I'm almost back to the measurments I had at my lowest weight--so the scale is not everything!

Miata--WTG on the pants fitting better! I love it when the clothes start to hang well (and opposed to being stretched), then hang loosely!

Sabrina--I miss my parents too! They left Sunday after a week here. I think Belle is happy tp have the house quiet again though! WTG on eating well and exercising!

Trish--We've all been there and we are here for you to help pick you up! You feel bad with the cold--but you will feel even worse with a cold and a lot of sugar in your system! You can't really control the cold--but you can your eating--do it just for today!

Crystle--Howdie! Stay away from those treats in the oven!!!!! I've got some WW blueberry muffins in the oven--I'll let you know how they are!

Jackie--You have a challenging period comming up with all the wedding festivities! Can you request the hostesses provide some things you can eat? chicken salad and triscuits? Fruit? veggies? etc?

TV--Happy belated birthday! It's good to hear from you!

Deb--WTG on getting that walk in! I hope you get to spend some time OUT of the car today!!!!

GBMM--Good for you on your weight loss and the miles!!! I'm with you--I like raw veggies much better than cooked.

Monet--Yeah, spring is truly "the best of times and the worst of times!" I have noticed that since giving up sugar, my allergies aren't nearly as bad as they used to be. When does the pool open? Speaking of hot flashes--I got a couple of killer ones in St. Pete last week and DM loaded me up with some soy nuts. I think I'm going to try to black cohash too.

Jenn--Sounds like you have your hands full with all the sick folks at your house! Hang in there and stay healthy!

Becky--Gorgeous picture!

Kim--The oranges are wonderful! We stopped at a grove on the highway--they came right off the trees. We got huge, juicy, grape fruit from one of my aunt's neighbors. I'm in citrus heaven!

Colleen--Will be thinking about you this week! Hope everything goes well--it sounds like you are planning ahead--which is very smart!

Wendy--There's plenty of room in the dungeon--come on down! Check that thyroid before Monet has to get on you!

Phew--the board was busy yesterday!

Have a great OP day everyone!

Susan

Ellen 04-01-2003 11:32 AM

SERENE: Woman, get that thyroid checked! And if you are given meds, TAKE them. No reason to float around through life in a brain fog when you can feel better. Remember that the normal level for TSH has been lowered officially to .3 to 3.0. Also, if your TSH is normal, ask to have your T3 levels checked. For me, that is the key. I think I could skip the T4 (like Unithroid and Synthroid) and just take the special formulary of T3 and still feel good. Ok, off the :soap:

FILLISE: Pool opens in a few weeks. Probably once it warms up after this cold snap. The best thing is to wait until the dogwoods lose all their petals, so you don't have to be cleaning them out of the pool! Be careful with the soy... if you have any tendency towards thyroid problems, soy can really do a number on you. Try the black cohosh. It works for me!

JACK: My daughter's check up was just to monitor her medications. He is trying a brain med for a chemical imbalance. It is a Gaba related drug and not a serotonin reuptake inhibitor. Thankfully, the doctor agrees with her father and I about using a SRI on her. He also wants to try some hormone therapy for her severe migraine headaches. I can see a big difference in her mood swings on the Gaba drug. At least now her PMS is confined to only once a month! Oh! I know you are getting excited about how close the wedding is getting! If you don't have a digital camera, you NEED one! You will be so happy if you have one for the wedding. I have a Nikon Coolpix 800, and it takes great pictures.

JECRITES: Oh, dear! I hope you don't get as sick as your family was! Take vitamin C, and get lots of rest! Get better soon!

JANE: Your list looked good to me. As long as you are concentrating on whole grains and less than 3 grams of sugar, you are doing well. Like everyone said, 3 or less starchy carbs are a good amount. The book is unfortunately rather vague about some things. For more detail, try and find Montignac's book, Eat Yourself Slim. It was the inspiration and info that SB is based on.

Ok, I did my Treadmill, and I guess I ought to get busy. I have company coming for dinner, and everything is a mess! As usual.....

jane8760 04-01-2003 01:48 PM

Sorry I did it again...posted a new thread!

Help! I am missing sugar today. I can't believe how much I am craving it. I am not hungry I just want something sweet and not fruit! I will need to find some form of chocolate "something" or I won't make it!

I know....can I have sugar free hot chocolate?
