Girls, it's an all evening TV watching marathon tonight. Survivor and CSI. And I have laundry to get done too. Yikes! Those commercials better be pretty long. I'll catch up tomorrow afternoon.

Tomorrow a.m. I'm meeting my friend to workout at her YMCA. Oh plus I got my handsfree phone. It's charging even as we speak.

SOLBABY---Glad you are over the surgery. Thanks for checking in and reporting your condition. I'm sending good thoughts and gentle hugs your way.

Take care.
Kim

Melf 02-13-2003 08:00 PM

Well my evening has taken an unexpected turn for the worse.

The wind started blowing stuff around in the yard this afternoon, so I went out to pick up the trash can in the driveway & then was going to head for the mailbox, but as I turned, my foot caught on a rock & next thing I knew I was lying on the ground in horrible pain. Tried to break my fall with my hands but got banged up pretty good.

Got abrasions on my right knee, right shoulder, & both hands. Shoulder & face hit pretty hard so they are bruised & painful. Thought my left hand was broken, but a trip to ER & X-rays showed no fractures. Got a whopper of a headache & it's hard to do anything with either hand because of the pain & the cuts.

They canceled me for tomorrow as I will be of no use to them as bad as the pain is. I even had trouble writing my name, so even charting would be very uncomfortable & slow. They took so many x-rays I told them that I think I'll glow in the dark for a while.

I've taken a pain pill & am off to bed.

Zanne 02-13-2003 08:18 PM

MELF--Oh my goodness! Sounds like you did a number on yourself. I'm really glad it's nothing major, but still all those scrapes and bruises and the headache are not nice. You take care of yourself, and I hope you'll feel better real soon.:grouphug:

SOLSHINE--Glad your surgery went well. Take it easy. I hope you have a quick recovery.:flow2: :flow1:

Ellen 02-13-2003 08:31 PM

Just checking in. Poached cod fillets for dinner with veggies. Turned out pretty good.

Got some good news tonight. The lady doing my son's taxes worked it out to a lot more than he was expecting and for a fee, he can have his refund by Monday! Looks like he will not have to move in here, ..... yet! (sigh of relief)

MELF: Oh, I am so sorry you had that fall! I hope you recover quickly! Hugs!

Tranquil 02-13-2003 10:24 PM

Just a quick post to say HELLO EVERYONE!!!! Had a busy night tonight - went out for a surprise supper to Outback - nobody would tell me where I was going! Then off to watch Survivor at a friend's house - and now home and headed up to bed to watch the end of the CSI....

Sol - Glad you made it through and hope you mend quickly and comfortably as possible ....

I have a lot of catching up to do - work was crazy - hopefully tomorrow will be a better day!

Night! Sabrina

Good Evening:

 Hi Everybody,
I was having a cath done yesterday. I got to the hospital at 10:30am and left at 8:30 pm. They started about 12:45pm and finished before 1:30pm. It was truly a nightmare lying on my back for 6 hrs. If I had moved my body in the wrong was and started the site to bleeding again, I would have had to stay another 6 hrs. Well, I can say that I'm recovering quite nicely. :cb:

Is there a site that will keep tract of your food that you key in daily? I went to the one that will tell you how much protein, carbs, calories, etc.

Debbie, I am so sorry I missed the chat the other night, that's what I've been waiting for. I used to stay in chat rooms years ago. I'll be there next time.

Everybody have a wonderful nite.:)

Happy Valentine's Day...

Alright, we already established some people weren't thrilled about it but I can't not say it. :)

As expected, I didn't get a *gift* this morning but hubby did write me a Love Letter. He did this for me last year as well. We never seem to have any money!! It was very sweet and he even wrote a poem in it. It was quite hilarious and in keeping with his personality but he professed his undying love for me and the man deserves a medal for putting up with me for nearly 14 years!

I had a terrible night last night. My youngest son woke with an earache around 10 pm and we fussed and coddled until 1:30 am when I just passed out. He seems a little better today but I am hoping he doesn't do that again tonight...I am one of those that needs her sleep. With hubby leaving today I am really hoping he is on the mend.

SOLSHINE- Glad the surgery went well and I hope your recovery is quick & painless!

MELF- That is terrible news about your fall. I am just glad that you didn't break anything...I guess that is the silver lining. My mother fell in the deep freeze last week when she was defrosting it...she has osteo and MS so although she got a terrible shiner and other bruising she at least didn't break anything. Hope you feel better quick.

DEBELLI- Yep, you talked yourself out of that crockpot! It is true though, you have to be a meat lover to really appreciate the crockpot.

MONET- I could just hear that sigh of relief!!

I have to get moving and finish packing up hubby's stuff for the trip. Have a good day and weekend everyone!

St. Valentine's Day

I hope everyone has a happy day! Can you have more than one Valentine? If so, to everyone:

 BE MY VALENTINE!

I do have a main valentine, and bless him, he gave me a box of Russell Stover's sugar free chocolates. Good thing I was down a pound and a half this morning (I took a diuretic to get rid of the cyclic water retention yesterday) cause I will probably be back up from eating it all! I have NO will power where chocolate is involved.

I am off to work at the church office this morning. I try to help out whenever I can. They are beginning to call, or email me to ask for help when they need it. Suits me fine. I enjoy getting to know the staff, and helping out.

GRACIOUS: Don't you just love the letters for gifts? At Christmas, I asked my husband for a letter instead of a gift. What he wrote made me weep it was so touching! Occasionally, I tease him when he is getting grumpy, by saying, "Well, I better go read my letter again." We laugh, but it honestly does help if I feel irritated with him to go and read what he wrote from the heart. Then I can dismiss the day to day irritations as just that. Hope your son is all better! I get ear aches a lot, and they are no fun!

AGAPE: Eww...laying on my back for six hours would drive me crazy. Glad you did not have to endure another six... Try Fitday.com for online journalling of what you eat. I have a program called DietPower that you can buy on my computer. I love it, but it does cost a lot. I got it on sale. You can check it out at dietpower.com. I think some of the people on here use Weight Commander too, though I have never looked at it.

TRANQ: I love Outback! When we go out for steak, that is where we always head. Of course, we do that about three times a year... Unfortunately, my husband is Scottish!

BOB: I sure wish I were there in your town...I loved it when we visited, and the weather sure beats what we get up here!

FRUIT: I noticed our starting weights, current, and goals are almost the same. Wanna race? Naw...just kidding! I like your @work name...Hope to see more of you now!

JACK: How was the chili? We used to have it a lot, but lately, my hubby has been nixing the Tex/Mex due to heartburn. Unusual for him, but then, it is ok with me. Hot stuff bothers me now too. Guess we are getting wimpy in our old age! ;)

Ok, off to get ready to go 'work'! Have a good day everyone!

Solly 02-14-2003 09:09 AM

Happy Valentine's Day to All Of You

Hope your day is filled with happiness and love.

In our paper on Thursday, we have a health section and last nite there was an article on acne. For years they have said acne was caused by chocolate and french fires. Then they disproved that. Now they have proven that sugar, white flour and potatoes cuase acne by producing so much insulin that the body produces excess hormones and testostorone (sp) that it produces more oils and clogs the pores. How interesting. This WOE is good for many things. I called my DD and told her about it as she has had some problems breaking out. She told me that since she has quit eating potatoes for awhile that she hasn't broken out at all. Proof right there. I was quite happy that we have more reasons to stand behind our WOE.

Solshine, Glad to hear everything went well with your surgery. Since you have to keep yuor butt down, we expect to hear a lot form you in the next few days. Get some rest and take care of your self :grouphug:

Monet, prayers for your DS finding a job quickly. ANd for you so you don't have to take him back in. Good for you doing that treadmill instead of a nap. You are one dedicated girl. Even if you don't get results from the scale you should have tons of self pride going on. Chili was good, but those beans just kill me.

Quilter, wasn't CSI good last nite.

Melf, I'm glad you are semi-ok. How horrible. That must be some killer winds there. Hope you are feeling better today. Abrasions can be painful especially when you go to bend an arm or leg. Hope your proor face is better today. Get some rest. Glad nothing was broken.

Tranquil, Hope your Friday is less busy today. Nice dinenr at Outback!

Agape, What were the results of your cath? Any surgery required? Glad you are feeling better.

Gracious, I think a love letter is better than any present you could get. It is truly from the heart and I would cherish it forever. How sweet. I know it wasn't funny, but that note about your mom falling into the deep freeze just struck me funny. Glad she wasn't hurt badly.

Gator, In case I don't get back before your big day, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! :hat: :gift: :cake:

Got to get busy here. Have a "sweet day"

Jackie

The Quilter 02-14-2003 10:42 AM

Friday Morning

Hello Everybody and HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY! I'm taking the day to think of all my wonderful friends and how much I am blessed by the people I hold near and dear to my heart. Guess who many of those people are????? My SB friends!!!! There's one really bad thing about this holiday . . . the chocolate. I hope we all are successful at avoiding that poison and being healthly and 100% today.

Well, I fell asleep before the end of CSI last night. Geesh, I missed the big finish again. Bummer. Some nights I just can't make it til 11 without a little snooze.

Hey, I wanted to talk to you all about something that has to do with exercising. I have an old friend who is very fit. She was a dancer in high school and college and has always worked out and been this great looking woman with a tight butt and everythiing in its place. Last year she was in a kickboxing video that a trainer in her area made. That's how in shape she is. She's confessed to me that she now has her "winter butt" on, and she is trying to lose 6 pounds and asked me to help her. So we are emailing each other everyday reporting what we ate and what exercise we did that day.

When I told her about doing the treadmill, she suggested that I really start working on "interval training". She said that working out this way would really help step up my workout. After reading some stuff on it, I'm finding out it's what DEB has been doing for probably over a year. You do some lighter walking and then begin by adding short spurts of harder more intense working (like jogging or running). Here's a link to a site that explains it pretty well. I was thinking that might help some of you all who are at scale plateaus or just seem stuck in a rut with the exercise. Check it out and see if it sounds like something you would like: http://www.ivillage.com/diet/experts..._72942,00.html

Well, my plans for the day have changed. Instead of meeting Jackie to workout at the Y we did our TMs over the phone. The tv stations are all calling for winter weather. JACKK, has it hit you yet? My friend, Jackie, lives north of here about 30 minutes and neither one of want me to get into icy roads. So we did the adult thing and stayed at home. This way I got the laundry started. My new hands free phone is not working right. Booo hissss. I'll save my option of saying "piece of crap" til later when I'm absolutely positive that it's not going to work. So I had to hold my portable phone through the 30-minute workout. That wasn't so bad, but I didn't get much upper arm movement. I will go and do some weights when I finish this post. But I have to tell you all, that 30 minutes went so fast with us chattering away. We decided that after 20 minutes there is so much heavy breathing that we could get jobs as 1-900 operators!!! LOL!!!! We are shooting for M-W-F at 6:10 a.m. Keep your fingers crossed that we keep that commitment.

MONET---I did that TM only readingthing on Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistlestop Cafe. I enjoyed that book so much that I really stayed on the TM longer. The only bad part was when I'd hit a sad part and I'd be crying and walking. That's almost more embarrassing than my motown singing. And much more dangerous!!!

GRACIOUS---I like your VD gift that you gave hubby. What a good idea. That love letter sounds absolutely wonderful. Yesterday, I confessed to Paul that I had not gotten him a card. Then he started picking on me about it acting like his feelings were hurt. And I said I didn't see a card coming my way from him. Well, he swears up and down that he got me one, but he can't find it. I wouldn't believe him, but he told me that a woman at one of his meetings was selling Valentine cards for $1 each and he bought me one. That much I believe that he would snatch up a dollar card. I do think it's funny now that he can't find it. I wish I could find it here at home and give it to him tonight when he gets home. Wouldn't that be a hoot??? Girl, kick that stinkin' thinkin' about giving up to the curb. Just think about how much you used to weigh and how much you've already lost. Give your body a chance to catch up and get used to the new spot you're at. That scale will get moving again. Remember, I had those same thoughts, gave up and now I'm struggling to get under that 200 mark again when at one point I was sitting at 168-169. Please don't make the same mistake I did. Giving up will do nothing for you except make you feel worse. Please know this is all said with the warmest hugs. Honey, I hope you can squeeze in a nap or two today. That's no fun running around on too little sleep.

COUNTRY---So are you feeling better? Are your spirits on the rise? What do you have planned for the weekend?

MOM2---I hope you are able to sleep. I work with an insomniac and it's no fun for her or any of us who work nearby her.

JACKK---Hmmmm, sounds like this SB group could get a singing group started. Between, you, me and FILLISE, we've got it goin' on. LOL. Thanks for telling me about your total gym. That sounds wonderful. I've wanted one for years. Perhaps that would be a good gift for me when I get to my halfway point or something. I'll have to suggest that to you-know-who!!! I do have a complete set of free weights that goes up to 20 pounds. (Who am I kidding on that one?) So I've been using the 2-pounders this week. Not much, but I think it's smarter to start out slowly on them. I always seem to notice the weight first in my face and waist. But the boobs are the next to go. I'll be sad to see the girls diminish. They've been looking lovely for the past year. (heavy sigh!) CSI was really good. I like when always in-control Marg Helgenberg was out of control when the case had to deal with her life. I really like the young woman with the dark hair. She's pretty cool. That kinking sex stuff was something else too. There are some wackos out there and I'd rather not know anything about them. LOL.

FILLISE---Read what I just said to JACKK. We are quite the songstresses. Ha! I'm coveting your warm weather. But so happy you have a chance to get out and enjoy it. Was it cold in Washington last week? My boss has to go there for a few days this month and is a little bit worried that something bad may happen because of the terrorists. I don't envy her going either. It would make me nervous. What was the atmosphere like there when you were in town? Hey, when you're at the ball, just think about all your wonderful friends who love you. VD doesn't have to be a couples thing. Just because some people make it that, doesn't have to make it that for you. Enjoy yourself and in your mind, give it a silly name like the "high winter southern belle wearing uncomfortable shoes and avoiding the sweets dance." The cupids that are decorations could be in celebration of good skin week. And the hearts could be for the American Heart Association. Is any of this sounding crazy to you? Because it's ringing that way to me. But what the heck. Make it a special evening for YOU any way you can!!!!! (except for hanging out at the dessert table, of course)

MELF---You day started out so good with the fabulous time on the walk and now you are laid up from your fall. Oh that's a terrible way to start the weekend. Listen, you take it easy and nurse yourself back to health. I'm sending you warm hugs and prayers that the scrapes and pains go away really soon. But I'm also counting the blessings that you didn't break anything. PTL for that!

ZANNE---Your theory about stretchy pants is absolutely 100% right. I have switched over to the stretchy pants and I feel it's the worst thing I could have done. At least while I was eating and gaining. It did nothing to help me see the truth as to what was happening to my body. And now that I'm losing, I won't even be able to tell in the stretchy pants because they don't have any pressure. Although I still get the dreaded red ring around my middle after a full day's wearing. So I guess I can gauge my losses on the the brightness of the red. LOL Girlfriend, the fact that you can get ANYTHING on under your jeans is something to stand up and shout praises about. I'd be doing cartwheels if I thought it wouldn't split the seat out. Good going. You are keeping yourself in the reality mode. The tight jeans can snap anybody back into reality really quick. BTW, the bloat is gone. It really wasn't as bad as it has been in the past. I used to get it so bad, that I just couldn't even function. This one was pretty mild, but still uncomfortable. By the time lunch rolled around yesterday I realized it was gone. Do you think upping water intake at that time would help? Just wondering if water could help flush out the gassy bubbles.

MELIRIS----Sorry the pep talks didn't help. I know it can be so frustrating when everything on your end is what's supposed to be. You did say one thing that made me think of another thing. You said that if you eat any less you will go into starvation mode. Are you sure you are eating enough? DEB has told us that in the past that we must get to a certain calorie point and that eating too little is as bad as eating too much. What is your calorie intake? Just another thought. Hoping you get a big loss soon. I've never done a recumbent bike. Is that where you sort of lean back and lift your legs straight out? Those kind look really comfy. What are ellipticals?

TRANQ---I love the Outback. You stayed away from that blooming onion, didn't you??? Did you get the salmon? That's my favorite there.

AGAPE----What a terrible day for you? I'm glad it's over for you and that you didn't have to stay the extra hours. How did you amuse yourself while laying so still? That sounds like torture!!! HUGS!!!

Okay, I need to bathe or something. Because I am one sweaty mess. (I had started this post BEFORE getting on the TM), so I haven't been dripping through writing all of this. Take care. Enjoy your day!!!

Later,
Kim

Oh-oh

Hi All

A big OH-OH cause I want chocolate. Probably cause I didn't eat any breakfast. So I popped on here instead. I've got my hand in the baby carrots.

I did some grocery shopping today and really wanted chocolate--even walked down the aisle, but I kept right on going!:D :cp: Yeah me! I bought myself some dill pickles instead! I know, not even close, but the pickles are legal! I think some roast beef in a WW tortilla will help fill me up. And I've got a bit of greek salad fixxings left in the fridge.

GRACIOUS--How sweet of DH to give you a letter. That's the best gift. Gifts don't have to cost a lot and it's the really creative things that mean a lot.

BOB--Sorry, but I peeked at what you wrote to Kim--that mug your nephew is giving his daddy sounds so precious! That's a great gift!

QUILTER--CSI was really good! Did DH tape it for you? I've read a lot lately about the interval training. The few times I've actually gotten off my duff to exercise, I've done the intervals. WTG on the treadmill! I used to have a hands free phone from radioshack. I loved it! I would wipe down my kitchen cabinets while talking and other things, but the one part that clipped onto my pants kept falling off and I think it pulled some wires in the cord that went to the headset. And to get it fixxed was going to cost almost as much as the price of the phone. Maybe you can attach your cordless phone to your ear by tucking it under a headband:joker: I don't know about having water when I feel that bloated. I didn't want anything. My old remedy was to drink a can of Coke. I might have tried a diet coke, but since I don't do artificial sweeteners, didn't have any diet pop around! Plus DH had finished up all the regular coke I had! And I don't think what you told FILLISE sounded crazy.

FILLISE--I love what QUILTER wrote to you about making it a fun, special day for you. Celebrate the "good skin, healthy heart" that this WOE is giving you!

Well, I gotta get. Sorry I missed a lot of you.

Hi to all and have a great day!

Zanne 02-14-2003 01:08 PM

I came here, said my piece and I don't want chocolate anymore! You guys are amazing. You can get rid of chocolate cravings!
