Hello

Hi All:

It was a gorgeous day here - in the 70s and so clear...

Quilter - I love my hair!!!! No more grey, nice short bob, just what I wanted! YEAH!!!!! I have not had it cut or colored since before I left for London in October!!! Sheesh, I was definitely the Shaggy DA!!!! I don't remember the show with Richard Chamberlain, but I do remember when Thornbirds came out :) He was definitely a hotty!!!!

Bob - boy, did you have fun spending the dough!!! Just watched Double Whammy with Dennis Leary and it was ok, nothing to rave about except at the end there is a scene where the character is standing at the Hudson River and across the river is my old home, Briercliff!!!! It was good to see my old home! I love Paneras and they are opening one up 3 blocks from the house - of course, I only have salad there or sometimes I will splurge and get the turkey on their 9 grain bread....

Gracious - Dont be lonely!!!! Take a nice hot bath, enjoy some time reading....watch a good movie, do a craft project with the kids....of course, we are here on the board!!!!

Melf - We had a really nice day today...had lunch out and then the hair and even got to sit outside in the sunshine for a bit and enjoy the fresh air.

Monet - I love those Russell Stover SF chocolates, but I found that I have a hard time not wanting to eat the whole box at one time

Where is Toni and Mercy, too?

Have a good night all!!!!!

Sabrina

Ellen 02-15-2003 10:42 PM

Well, there is still about 1/3 of a box of SF chocolates in the box... The effects of the maltiturd hit this afternoon. If I were a balloon, I would have been flying around the room!

Dinner tonight was simple...broccoli and baked pork tenderloin, and some sauerkraut.

Good news! My son got his paycheck and they gave him his commissions! He was not expecting to get them without a fight. With that and his tax return, he will be able to live for a few months if he does not find a job. I hope he finds one right away, and can save some $$ in case this ever happens again!

It is about time for bed...sweet dreams everyone!

my reply Hello Everybody,
It is late again, but wanted to get to this place that is a real comfort and it get more inviting everytime I come here.

Debbie: A cath (catherization) is where a doctor goes thru the groin area, left or right, and inserts what is call a sheath to keep that site open. They then insert a tiny camera, attached to wire of course, and weave it thru that artery into your heart to see if there is any kind of blockage. They shoot some kind of dye in there, also and take pictures. They can also view it on a monitor, which they did. I tried to look, but got paranoid and didn't want to see any more. A team of wild horses couldn't draaaaaag me back to have that procedure again LOL. Oh, I checked out Fitday.com and it is very informative. Thank you much.

The Quilter: I thank you for encouraging words. I really used to try to do everything alone. I didn't want to bother people. At this time in my life, I realize just how important family and friends are. And people need to feedl needed. I believe when a person feels they aren't needed anymore, they give up and die. I love people today, before I stayed to myself because of a lot of hurt. Not so today, I had to realize there are no perfect people.

Melf: In the last 5 mos. I have the vey best docs in the world. My family doctor is absolutely wonderful and he sent me to a cardiologist and she was wonderful. Compassionate, yes they are. My family doc even left message to call the office and when he came to the phone to talk with me he said I will be praying for you. He knew I was really afraid of having this procedure done, so he shared with me that the doc who was doing mine, also did his son, who was having problems with his heart. What can I say:angel: , I truly know how fortunate I am and blessed.

To all of you, keep up the good work of loving one another and sharing with one another, for it GOOD~~~~~~:flow1: :spin: :flow1:

Have a peaceful nite and I'll see yall tomorrow.

LJunel (slim and healthy)

P.S. Hey, forgot to tell ya I have lost 10lbs. since I started this WOE.:D :p :dancer:

Hi everybody..Just stopped by to say hi while my cupcake are baking..Yes I had to bring cupcakes to Sunday School tomorrow (I am the helper, not the whole teacher) and decided it wasn't right to bring yucky store bought birthday cupcakes..I have to tell you I have not had one lick yet..And don't plan on it..I have been 100 % op today and I am all stoked. I brought my SB book to work and started reading it again, and just feeling so good bout it..I think I can do this!!! Just got to get the Curves and no excuses..I am going to go 4 days this week starting Monday..

Hi Agape..I don' t think we have met..Iam Miata from Calif!!! It sounds like you are real lucky to have such a nice doctor. It is nice when they call up and see how you are doing...

Tranquil..You got a new doo??? Isn't it the most wonderful thing in the whole world??? I got my hair cut short, real short the day before my daughter came home..It is somthing I have been wanted to do for years, but My dh always protested..It got tothe point where I just said heck with you..he doens't have very good taste in hair anyway, and he is bald..so why not do what I want..I love it..I don't have to do anything to it except brush it.

Well better check the cupcakes and then get into the quilt room to start cutting out squares for my retreat..

bye for now

Good Sunday Morning:wave:

Going to be another quickie, just checking in to let you all know I truly am alive!!!!

Michael has been on the computer non-stop since Friday working on his Group 4 project. I just got out of bed to find 6 kids in my kitchen to work on the project, it's not even 7:45am! I think they plan on being here all day.

I have to be up in WPB (2 hours north of me) by 1pm and have to stop and buy part of my cousins gift still. Both kids are not going with us, Michael because of his group and Lauren has something at school from 4-8 and we will not be back in time. Tomorrow even though there's no school Lauren will be there for this Young America thing she's attending from 8am-8pm and Michael will be working on Group 4. I think this counts as 12 grades for the kids - it's a big to-do.

I was allowed about 5 minutes on the computer last night, not enough time even to get through my e-mails. I have to take a back seat, unfortunately. Trust me, it's hard, but I have to do so.

Anyhow, I'm hoping that I can get on the computer for at least a few tonight to say hello. Otherwise, will be on tomorrow morning to start the new weekly board.

I am going to try to see if I have time to go get in a walk, not sure, have to assess all that needs to be done before we have to go.

Have a wonderful day y'all!!!

Sunday Morning

Good Sunday Morning to all of you. Sometime during the night I heard this tapping noise that didn't stop. Ice/sleet whatever you want to call it hitting our neighbors metal awnings. Ugh! Yes, it's a layer of ice and still coming down out there. My car is in the garage and Paul pulled our blazer in under the deck to protect it, but it's still covered. The 4-6 inches of snow they're predicting hasn't started yet. Perhaps it will leave us alone. I'm trying not to whine about the weather because there's not a thing I can do about it, but somedays it's difficult to not have a tiny pity party.

Guess what? I broke a ZERO this morning. Actually, I broke the BIG ZERO. (I just can't type that number!) I'm so excited. I know it's not official until I get to WIW, but at least I have seen the light of "the other side" and will work hard to remain there. No splurging for this chick for the next few days. Gosh, I hope that sticks. I think the TM is really helping. So if that number holds until WIW, I'll be half way to my first goal of ten pounds. Sweet!!!!!

TRANQ---It's official, next year at this time, I am visiting you!! I want 70's and clear and sitting in the sun too. You wouldn't mind sharing, would you????? Hey, your hair sound adorable. Doesn't it feel great to have a new look. Really perks a person up. And girlfriend, I am all for going the color route. My greys are still looking like blonde highlights (remember, I am a red head and it kind of works that way until they start to take over.), but the moment they don't, I'm going for the bottle. So glad you like the look. I had to laugh about the Thornbirds, because I loved Richard Chamberlain in that. And remember Barbara Stanwyck as the matriarch of the family? I thought the leading lady (I can't remember her name) was a terrible actress though. Do you remember her? She got on my last nerve, and still does whenever I see her in anything.

MONET----You made me LOL about the effects of the SF chocolates. Hilarious!!! I guess there are different ways to "pay" for something good. Great about your son. It's looking better for him. That's an answer to your prayers.

AGAPE---I loved what you said about the change in your outlook about opening yourself up to people. I was the same way. I wanted to cherish my privacy. Well, that's not going to get you anything. It's like I lived like I would get this big award at the end of my life that said, "she always tackled everything alone". Sounds pretty silly now that I think about it. I watched my friend (who just died) humble himself and accept help from people when he knew there was no other way for him. It turned out to be a humbling experience for the rest of us, not him. Keep up the great attitude. It's contagioius around here. Last night I wrote in my journal about how thankful I was to have so many support systems around me right now. It's awesome to think that there are so many people who want to see you do well and be healthy. Feel better soon!!!

MIATA----Now that's the spirit, girl!!! Keep up that focus. Not one lick of the cupcakes? Fantastic!!!!! You don't know how much that helps me want to keep going. If you can pass up that, I can try to pass up something tempting too. Hey, you made me LOL talking about your hub and how he doesn't have good taste and is bald. Oh man, that was a side splitter. You are so funny. It feels good to do something for yourself, doesn't it?

DEB----I know it's driving you nuts to not be able to get on the computer. But thanks for giving us a quick check in. I hope your afternoon is fun and that you get everything done that you need to. Hang in there. You didn't mention it, but how's your eating going?

Well, I'm going to crawl back under the blankets for a few more minutes, because, baby, it's cold outside. The really sweet thing is thinking that tomorrow is another off day. No work til Tuesday. Yippee!!!!! But we will be spending today and tomorrow painting our little hearts out. Whoopee!!!!!

Catch you later.
Kim

Ellen 02-16-2003 10:10 AM

Good Morning! I hopped on the scale for my daily step aerobics... :) and it looks like it is down another pound. I am not going to count that as official until Wednesday, but it is an encouragement!

It is rainy here. The weather was beautiful yesterday, tho not sunny. I was outside all afternoon, without a jacket. I finally took down the Christmas lights. I hope taking down about 40 strings of lights is considered exercise, since after I finished I was tired! My arms hurt..so I figured it was about the same as washing windows, or painting. Right? I felt good about getting it done. My daughter had put about ten strings in one dogwood tree, wound tightly around each branch. The effect was beautiful back in December, but timeconsuming to remove!

Does anyone here use YAHOO INSTANT MESSENGER? My kids got me on it, and it is really cool! If anyone uses it, and would be interested in IMing some, please give me your screen name! I am on a lot, as I work on my computer at home, and would love to do some live chat for encouragement....

QUILTER: On your way to FL to visit Tranquil, you better stop in Hotlanta and visit me! In fact you can come visit me whenever you want. The weather here is a big improvement over Cinci... it was about 70 yesterday! I think you are SO right about the Treadmill. As long as I keep that up regularly...at least three times a week, I am seeing results now. I think the increase in my T3 thyroid helped tremendously too, but at least I am seeing improvements. I am so glad you are too. I know how frustrating it is to be a turtle. A cheat that doesn't phase someone else can set us back a month. Lets hold one another accountable to the TM, ok? You have friends doing that, I know. I do to a degree, but I need all the pushing I can get! :)

AGAPE: Wow! Congrats on the ten pounds! Isn't that a great feeling to see results! Keep it up!

MIATA: I agree..homemade cupcakes are so much better! Good for you keeping out of them too! I really admire anyone who can quilt! It is so detailed! I am one of those who likes projects that don't require careful measurement, and attention to detail. I guess that is why I like pottery and cake decorating! ;) Your retreat sounds like fun! I am going to be watching for your reports on FOUR trips to Curves this week! You can do it! :drill:

DEB: Hope you were able to get your walk in! I can't believe those teens showed up so early in the morning! Mine would have planned it for 3 pm, and stayed up all night!

Mel 02-16-2003 10:18 AM

Sunday

Woke up this morning looking forward to a lazy days with NO exercise whatsoever (I hit the gym real hard every day last week and ended it with a spinning class yesterday). Then I looked out the window and MORE snow :yikes: they are predicting 10-18", kinda of a big variation there. So I guess I'll be spending the day shovelling, and reshovelling.... Next year I'm joining the group in Tranquil's backyard!

Does anyone know anything about lactose intolerance? My ds, who is 12 1/2, seems to get a stomach ache and diahrea (sp?) after dinner almost every night. I'm not that bad a cook! But he does chug down 2 glasses of milk w/ dinner. He just doesn't seem to be himself these days and I was wondering whether it's the milk. I know that's about the right age to see it.

Monet: Poor you! But I was laughing at the description. That's what happened to me when Deb took me for dessert at her beloved "carbolite" store! Tasted wonderful, but I discovered I just don't get along with the malitols, sorbitols, etc. That's why I just don't bother with much artificial sweeteners.

Quilter: Your weather sounds as lovely as ours. DD in Columbus says it's the worst winter of her 3 there so far. How far from Columbus are you? Actually, I think it's pretty far.

Miata- Good for you on the cupcakes. Really, after a year and a half of no sugar or flour, they wouldn't even tempt me. But other stuff does. Mostly legal, but not in the quantities I can put away.

Tranquil- Glad you like your new do! I need something. My hair has been really short for the past 2 years and now I'm trying to grow it out a bit, but it just look shaggy and flops around and curls up every which way.

Happy belated birthdays, Jackk and Gator!

Deb- You are right- I goota stay off the scale. It is making me crasy. Or crazier. I hid it in a cabinet in the bathroom, but DH takes it out to weigh himself. Why, I don't know. That man hasn't varied in weight by more than 5 pounds in the last 15 years, and can lose the 5 in a week just cutting ice cream. Grrrr.....

OK- out to confront the snow. This is the year I should have broken down and bought a snow blower! If I do get one, it'll probably be another 4 years before we have a winter like this again, tho.

miata1997 02-16-2003 10:45 AM

Hi!!! Just had to write a bit to tell you I still didn't take a lick!! And there was a big wad of frosting on my fingers and as it came up to my mouth, I stopped and washed my hand off real fast, couldn't come back here and tell you I licked!!! It was really funny and I am proud of me.

Going out to my 2nd biker breakfast which the group does about every couple weeks, will have bacon/eggs and no potatoes...The whole wheat bread will prob be fake so It will be bacon/eggs/coffee.

Need to ask you guys a question...Are chicken theighs ok??? everytime I tell people my favorite chicken part are theighs, they tell me that is the worst part of the chicken..Now I know breast is the white meat and less fat etc, but so darn tasteless. What do you think???Theighs ok with this plan as long as I cut off all visiable skin/fat??? I love doing them in my Geoge Foreman look alike...

Well better get dressed, want to look good for my breakfast...

Miata

Sunday Morning

Morning all! I am having a bit of trouble walking today. I wore with a much higher heel than I am used to wearing last night and this morning the ball of my foot does not want to bend (and it hurts when it does). The things we do for fashion.

The ball was fun last night. I was at a table with several very good friends so we had a blast. I did take pictures and will post as soon as they are developed.

I wasn't able to get on the board yesterday so I will go as far as I can with individual replies.

BOB--I'll try some of that tea. Of course what I really what is a tea that will bring on menapause! I want to get rind of TOM once and for all!

Jackie--I had to make a quick trip to the store on Friday--but other than that staye in all day--it was wonderful!

Melf--I certainly hope you are feeling better soon. It feels painful just reading about it!

Monet--I hope your DS really lets his former employer have it! It sounds like they deserve it. Your dinner sounds yummy!

Monet(again)--reading later I see that your DS got his paycheck and commission! Yippeee!!!!!

That's all I can reply to now. I hope everyone has a good day--and that all of you who are snow and ice bound have a coy day in front of a fire.

Love to you all,
Susan

GOOD LATE SUNDAY MORNING BUDDYS!!!

It's a YUCKY day here on the W Coast of FLA...supposed to start raining which will not be good for the BIG RACE if it's raining over in DAYTONA!!! I'm not a race fan, but I do know that it's bad enough on a dry track, little lone a wet slick one!

SABRINA...all the movies on my list are KEEPERS...they were great! Took them back just a while ago but restrained from getting more...OK...post a picture of your new BOB....I want to see!

SUSAN...have your DR give you a FSH test and you'll get the general idea how far away from the BIG PAUSE you really are.
Can't wait to see your pictures...get on down to WALMART and get them developed! Did you see the NC-CLEMSON game?

TENNESSEE BEAT FLORIDA yesterday, and it made my weekend! I think that one was for GATORS birthday!!!!

KIM...OH...MY...GAWD!!!! How in the world will MADDIE get out to pee! You better teach that girl how to use the pottie....

DEB...Did you get anything worth telling about after I talked to you yesterday?

MIATA...good going on the NO LICK....see, you have more will power than you think?

JACKIE./. Did you survive your BD?????

Hi! I want to thank everyone for all their advice about my night-time eating due to my bizzare work schedule! Thanks so much. I had a great week, brought my snacks (triscuits are a life saver) and didn't eat any crap from the machines.

I've done more research, and I'm actually leaning more towards The New Glucose Revolution rather than Sugar Busters..a lot of it is very similar, but it's more of a concept rather than a plan, if you know what I mean. If you don't mind me hanging around and lurking without actually doing SB, I'd appreciate it...if not, I understand!

Heartsmom...your son is beautiful and I wish him many more years of health and happiness!

Thanks again!

Ally

Solly 02-16-2003 01:01 PM

Good Sunday morning.

We are burried in ice here. A little snow on top and expecting more ice today. DH & I went out to get milk. It wasn't too bad, but we have 4 wheel drive. Getting ready to go to Olive Garden for lunch for my Bday. Then DD has to get back to UK somehow. I worry so much about her driving. Now we have ice to worry about too.

Had fun at the wedding. We danced all night. food was all legal but as usual, drank more than I should have as far as SB goes. But the scale was acutally down a pound yesterday. last night we went to see the comic/hypnotist. He was unny, but not as much as the first time we saw him. Eating was all screwed up. I thought we were eating at the buffet before the show, but others didn't want too. We went to the bar afterwards but there was a 3 hour wait. We hung around about an hour and then DH & I head home. With all the ice it was slow going and we stopped at Big Boy at 11:00. I hate to eat that late but I was starving.
Bob, I'm sending my DH over for dinner. He just loves liver and onion. Not in my house. Sounds like you got some deals at the store. Need to go there today myself.

Melf, hope you are feeling better today and those scrps and bruises are healing.

Monet, your dinner for your Valentine sounded wonderful. I bet he is a keeper. Don't stray far from the house if you finish off those chocolates.

letty, Let someone else eat that leftovers or toss them. You willb e retaining water big time. Better keep drinking today.

Jred, So glad you dropped in. We have missed you. Sounds like you are really busy. good luck to your DD on her audition.

Agape, Glad it was not your heart. Could you have carpal tunnel? Hope you get results soon. WTG on the 10 lbs. that is awesome.

Miata, I am a very strutured person. I have to have a routine. I just funtion better that way. Work out a plan for you and just give it a good try. WTG on resisting the cupcake batter. i like the batter better than the cupcakes. I got a good laught about your DH not having good taste in hair, andhim being bald.

Deb, We now have a Wild Oats. I will look for the chicken pot pie. Wendy's is not chili.

Quilter, are you snowed in today? We got alot of ice. We are expecting more today. It is supposed to be 45 Tuesday. Weird weather in the Ohio Valley. Deb said 1 cup of air popped pop corn is leagl in moderation. I buy plain corn and put it in a paper bag and put it in the microwave. it works pretty good. WTG on braking that Zero!. It is a good feeling to get into a new set of numbers.

Mel, are you burried deep in the snow today? You deserve a day off with all that hard work you did all week. Hope you figure out your DS's problem. Sorry, don't know anything about lactose intolerance.

Fillise, glad you had a good time at the dance. Sharing it with friends can make it fun. I'm with you and TOM. Get rid of it for good. Don't have to ask me twice.

Tranquil, I got a good laugh about the movie watching. I bet you scared the wits out of all those animals.

Gracious, you are right, this board is great for keeping us out of trouble when we are tempted. What would we do without each other. Be fatter I guess.

Alleycat, You have to do what works for you. We would love to have you stay around here. We are here for support no matter what WOE you are doing.

Got to run, they are read to go to lunch. Be back later.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes. Glad I could share it with dear friends like you all.

Jackie

the drugs is good I claim no responsibility for this post making any sense at all

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACKIE!!!!!!!!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can only be up for a brief amount of time right now, cut wanted to say hi and scan the posts. I only get up to go to the bathroom - any longer and the blood rushing to my foot hurts too bad. Vince will rig something up for me to work on the puter tonight so I'll be online starting tomorrow – maybe Tuesday. Would be nice if Dookie Howser came to visit. Haven't seen him since before the surgery.

I was on Percocet but was constantly nauseous. We thought it was the anesthesia wearing off, but then decided it might not be. Dr gave me a scrip for Vicodin and something for nausea (a suppository?!?) I think I've figured out a system now that doesn't make me sick. I am eating a lot of Chex cereal, though. We ran out of my ww bread and I couldn't tolerate the texture of the Triscuits.

My carb intake is way out of control due to eating every time it's time to medicate, but plan to get better as my need for the meds lessens.

I'm going to move my station from the bedroom to the couch for today - Daytona 500, The Music Man and Alias = very exciting day for me.

We go Tues morning to the Dr for follow up and hopefully I'll be able to put my weight on my ankle by then. Right now I just swing on the crutches, which is hard to do when you're lightheaded.

MELF - Sorry to hear about your fall! Take care of yourself!

ROSE - When's your surgery? No can do on the fake nails and polish for the OR. You look beaut-ee-muss au naturale, anyway!

BOB - I LOVE THE PBGV!! They are adorable!!! If you like them you will love THE PRINCESS when you finally get to meet her!

DEB - I'm sleeping a lot and Vince says I tend to not make sense when I'm talking sometimes. Today is about the first semi-coherent day I've had, I think.

QUILTER - I sound like Edie Brikell and can belt them out louder than the walkman will go! Remind me to tgell you about the free concert I put on for people I didn't know were sleeping in a motor home one
night. I prefer books on tape now (It’s safer for the general public’s eardrums). What I do is get a really good book on tape and only listen to it when I’m working out. It’s real motivation to exercise so I can hear the next exciting chapter…and I don’t want to quit exercising because the book is so good.

Valentines day probably started out with good intentions on telling those you love and care about how much they mean to you and has been commercially perverted like every other holiday. I bought a card for Meister, but haven't even signed the darn thing to give to him. I told him to not do anything for me as he's doing plenty by waiting on me hand and foot. I did get the sweetest card from one of our temps at work telling me how much she appreciates me. That is probably the sweetest valentine I've ever gotten.

Time to hit the sofa. I’ll check in Monday or Tuesday and catch up with each one personally. Have a great day!

THE BIG ORANGE BABE 02-16-2003 02:12 PM

AFTERNOON

I'm watching BAND OF BROTHERS...I know I can't make it thru the whole thing, but I absolutely LOVE WAR MOVIES!!!!

Nice to see the ORLANDO GIMP present and accounted for! Let me give you fair warning....while taking pain meds as directed, you will get CONSTIPATED BIG TIME!!! Happened to me when I had my last oral surgery..Be careful with the FIBER...you'll get bloated not going POO on a regular basis...GIRL....FACE IT!!!!
YOU'RE ALL BOUND UP!!!!

JACKIE..GLad you had a good birthday..the wedding sounds fun.
You've just answered the question I was going to call CATHY about. Be careful out there...and tell your DD to BE CAREFUL on the way back to LEXINGTON...SLOW...SLOW..SLOW....I know how the interstate can be between L'vill and Lex...

I'm getting ready to bag up my chicken in their spices for the grill later...bagging up some pork chops for the freezer, patting out some hamburger for the freezer...cooking beans and kale...
WHEW....I've got a lot to do...
