QUILTER, I like CALORIEKING.COM. BUT, if there's something I can't locate on there, or it doesn't have the serving size that I can change (like each to ounces) on an item, then I use NAT at

Good Morning Everybody.

Sorry I missed the chat. DEB, was RUTHXXX on? My MIL has been talking to her via email and I so did not want to miss her.

WIW report is good. I'm down another pound. So that puts me at a total of FOUR. This is Day 21 of the "new me" and I am quite satisfied and happy that I'm going the right way. MIATA, I loved what you said about how your perspective on weight loss has changed. It's so true and you are so right! Let's CELEBRATE every single pound or half pound. You are doing great! I love that kind of attitude. AWESOME!!!!! With your report and mine, this board is already 1.5 pounds lighter. I wonder what our grand total will be today. Who wants to keep score???

Good luck everybody!

Gotta go shower!

Morning All

Well, I don't like the metal monster this morning! It has me up to 168/169 this morning:( I wouldn't mind so much if I knew it was muscle weight, but I know that's not the case. Oh well, I'll just have to keep plugging along. :^:

QUILTER--WTG on the 4lbs gone! You're doing GREAT! You might have hit the nail on the head with my bloating being gas. I never thought about that! I did have a lot of my homemade salsa (Or what SOLSHINE calls Pica de Gallo). I did have a lot of it yesterday too with black bean hummus, but yesterday the gas was escaping :o, and I didn't have the bloating.

SOLSHINE--I'll be thinking of you tomorrow morning and sending good vibes for a speedy recovery. I hope you're not in too much pain.

YELLOWROSE--Sorry you have to have the surgery. I'll keep you in my thoughts next week. What MELIRIS said sounds familiar--about them wanting to check your nailbeds during surgery. Check with your doc/hospital to make sure.

I hope everyone has a good WIW. I've got to go get my little guy ready for school.

Bye for now.

Debelli 02-12-2003 07:41 AM

Good WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY Morning!

I am soooo proud of myself!:cb: I wanted to walk today but knew when I got home from dropping the kids off from school there was no way I could even get in a shorter walk and get ready and out by 8:30am, so, I woke up early and was out the door a little after 5:30am, did my 4.5 miles in 54min flat (thought it would be a little faster) and got back in time to take the kids to school. With doing that, I now have a few minutes to spare to post this morning!:D

I have to jump in the shower, take the car to the mechanic to get the brake light fixed and then head over to the park where the 11th graders are doing a team building thing, should be interesting. Have to help til around Noonish, maybe a little later. Possibly ELI and I will hit Shorty's for lunch before we have to p/u the kids at school and also go get my car. Hoping it will be ready before I have to get the kids, have extra kids to p/u today and cart around and it's more roomy in the van than ELI's car.

MIATA. CONGRATS on that 1/2 pound AND for not being discouraged, but instead happy. There's been times I've gone weeks without losing and being totally OP and weeks I've even gained. Yes, it can get discouraging, but I know that I'm doing everything right, and with patience, I'm going to see a loss and I'm always right!

QUILTER, WTG girlfriend! Congrats on this weeks loss, it's adding up!

ZANNE, don't worry about the small gain. On Monday, I measured my waist, on Tuesday I measured it again and I grew 1.5 inches! Now, I've been perfect with my eating and yet, here's this gain around my middle so I just know it's not from what I'm eating (maybe from what I'm not drinking), could be a host of reasons, TOM is here. Just planning on plugging along, just like you!!!

Well, it's time for me to hop in the shower and get ready. I hope you all have a wonderful day today. Please remember, TOMORROW IS RECIPE DAY If you have a good SB LEGAL RECIPE you'd like to share with the board, please try to post if on the NEW QUARTERLY RECIPE BOARD. I've posted the link below:

CLICK HERE TO GO TO THE RECIPE BOARD!!!!!

Have a great day!!!!

EEK!

I just blew the board average! Someone's gonna have to lose big time to make up for it. I'm, UP 5lbs from the last time I weighed, and 6 pounds from my low. I'm devastated. I've been eating perfectly since Sunday, so I know it's not water weight. It took me a whole year to lose that much last year. I just can't exercise more than I do. I have no idea what to do now, nothing seems to work anymore.

I am down overall this week but between yesterday and today I am up 1 lb. However, I know it was too much salt last evening and it will be gone tomorrow so not to worry.

It is so cold here again. It is -4 F and with the windchill they say it is around -20 F. It is a COLD one! Sent the dog out for her morning constitutional and she came in just a few minutes later holding up her wee paws. The kids ran straight from the house to the car this morning doing double time. Needless to say, I won't venture out for any reason today and tomorrow is supposed to be even colder.

For those who commented about the CROCKPOT...the roast was so very yummy and so tender that you just needed a fork. I highly recommend Crock Pots, especially to those who work outside the home. I am an at home Mom but simply adore it. You come back to that wonderful smell that someone mentioned and a whole meal is ready with only one dirty pot.
DEBBELLI- Since you are always saying you are not much of a cook you really should crack that box open on the new crock pot. My hubby so kindly stated one day as we sat eating a roast, "Crock pots are excellent for people who don't know how to cook." Then quickly added, "I don't mean you of course but maybe other people!"
FILLISE- The amount of space that a crock pot takes up is definitely worth it!
I forget who mentioned recipes but I bought a crock pot book when I got mine and there are lots online. I think one of them is crockpotrecipes.com but I will look that up...yes, that is one of them. You have to search through for SB legal fare but most can be altered easily enough.

QUILTER- Congrats on another loss, it is paying off! You are adding those pounds up and soon you will hit the 10 lb milestone. You are right, every lb and 1/2 lb is better off than on.

ZANNE- Too bad shivering couldn't be counted as exercise for us, huh?

MIATA- Having your quilting station all cleaned up is a great idea. It means you can spend more time quilting and less time digging through things to search for needed items. I just did the same thing myself with a set of 7 drawers and it looks so much nicer with everything there at my fingertips. Have you ever ordered materials from ebay? I was looking and see precut material and kits thinking it would be a quick way to get a quilt done. Any thoughts on that?

MONET- You always make the best sounding meals. I am not very creative when it comes to cooking but none of us is starving, that is for certain!

MELIRIS & YELLOW- Mel is right about the nail polish. They make you take it off to see if you are getting enough oxygen. If you have bluish nail beds that is a quick sign to them. Perhaps a nice manicure after the surgery will cheer you up...just like in the movie Legally Blonde...a manicure can make you feel much better! ;)

BOB- Loved the joke.

JACK-K- Although I also love cashews they are even worse for us to eat than the almonds because they are not true nuts, they are legumes and the carb count is higher. If one has to eat nuts to help them pass on a worse craving then macadamia nuts have the least carbs. They are 1.1 carbs per ounce and the fat that they have is at least *good* fat. But it is the eating only 1 ounce on occasion that is the hard part. I keep macadamias and almonds in the house for snacking emergencies!

Ran out of previous posts on this page again so that is it for me. I hope everyone does well on their WIW. I am off to do my exercise this morning...3 days in a row now!

Well, I am not going to help the total either. I stayed the same. Since I am at the bloat point of my cycle, I am not worried about it at all. By next week, I should be able to post a loss. What interests me is that usually at this point, I have gained four or five. To stay the same seems like a good sign. :crossed:

GRACIOUS: I love my crockpot too. I used it a LOT when the kids were little. I don't use it as much now, but I really should. Thanks for the inspiration! I guess what keeps me from using it more is lack of planning. I am usually defrosting something in the microwave at 4, to fix for dinner at 6! I have been known to start defrosting even later! :s:

MEL: I am sorry you are not getting the results you want from all your working out. Maybe your body needs a vacation from the workouts. My husband had surgery a year ago, and had to take a few weeks off to recuperate. It ended up being a good thing for him. He seemed to really make progress when he resumed his workouts. Just an idea...

DEB: Good for you getting up early to get your walk in! I have to admit that I am very thankful I don't have to do that!

ZANNE: I bet your problem was the black beans...they do a number on my lower GI tract when I eat them. I can eat other beans with no problem, but the black ones...well, my family appreciates it if I don't serve them in winter, when they can't open the windows!

QUILTER: Congrats on that pound gone! Just remember that tortoise and the hare...the tortoise won the race. Nothing wrong with being a turtle. You have lots of company! Like me.... :D

MIATA: Congrats on your 1/2 pound loss! A loss is a loss, no matter how large! I Weight Watcher leader once gave out Easter eggs, and one of them had 1/4 of chicken fat in it. She wanted to show everyone how much fat that was that they had lost, so they wouldn't think, oh, ONLY 1/4 pound.... Its the same as a stick of butter! And they add up!

Melf 02-12-2003 10:39 AM

Good Morning! Was off yesterday but had my GYN appt...joy, joy ;( Anyway, he put me on some long term daily dose of medication for my repeated UTIs & ordered me to go get my mammogram then see a surgeon because of the nipple retraction which I told him was like this a year ago when I had my last mammo. He said it doesn't matter cause it's not normal, but I told him it started after the weight loss. He insisted that weight loss should NOT have caused it. Well, my appt for the mammo is next Wed, the 19th with a tentative appt that same day for an ultrasound, depending on the outcome of the mammo. We'll see.

Scale is still up. Oh yea, when he looked at my urine test results he FUSSED about me not drinking enough water. I told him that I usually do, but for some reason yesterday morning I just took a sip with my medicine & didn't even eat breakfast, just took off for my appt. Well, he didn't take that as a good answer either! Anyway, the scale has been going back up, so I started the Leslie Sansone walking cd this morning. I did the 1 mile cd plus the toning portion of it too. I am determined to get this weight back down where it should be. I'm at 140. The lowest I've been in the past 3 weeks is 137 which was last week. I've GOT to get this under control!

Well as usual, I'm behind on reading the posts so I'm starting with page 4 which was yesterday, so if I miss anyone, sorry, it's not intentional.

Solshine, Hope your surgery goes well. Sending up lots of thoughts & prayers for you today! Hope Vincemister isn't too rough on ya! Just think, once you're good & heeled, you'll really be able to train for the half marathon! I'm still seriously thinking about doing it too. Think I can without getting lost?:o

Meliris I know what you mean about wanting to eat late nights. I had stopped that & now I seem to mosey into the kitchen before bedtime & sneak in a bite or 2 or 3 of something, anything! I've GOT to stop that! But how? I won't listen to me!

Trishaloo, Sorry to hear that your vacation plans are shot. What about your trip to see ds when he graduates from boot camp? Will you & Joe both get to go??

Letty, Welcome, welcome! Great for you for chosing this WOE. It's the best & you should  our boards! I have trouble eating all my meals before 7pm as I often do 12 hr shifts. On those nights I try to eat light, but that's with maintainence. Will I was loosing, I did often eat a good full meal around 8 pm & still lost, but I also didn't get to bed till around 10:30 or 11 pm. I'm having trouble getting back to my goal weight right now, but there are other reasons for that. Best of luck to you with reaching goal. Looks like you're doing a good job so far!

allycat, This IS a heathly WOE. You have chosen well. It's also easy to incorporate the rest of the family in it too. My dh enjoys this plan as well as I do. He just eats extra like most men cause he can afford to. lol You probably should have some type of snack about 3 hrs after your meal, that way it would break that long period between supper & bedtime. How about some fruit even?

Jack-K You sound busy too. I know what you mean about popping those cashews. I love those things too. I know they are high in fat, but they do seem to help curb my appetite when worse comes to worse, I do them instead of high carb stuff.

BOB, Though of you yesterday. Found a delicious sounding recipe for Cilantro Chicken. Will try it out tonight probably & post the recipe soon.

YellowRose, So you've decided to go ahead with the surgery? I'm glad you did, because you really need to get this taken care of. Will keep you in prayer for the 18th. I do the Food Pantry Ministry that day from 10am-noon, so will definitely have you on the prayer list! Glad to hear that dd will be there to help out. And I'm sure Ray will not be too rough on ya! He sounds like he'd be really helpful. I also have had problems finding some of the wonderful items that Deb clued us onto in FL, but I did find the Chocolove bars(77%) in Lafayette at the HFS. I'm being very conservative with these that I brought home. I have 2 bars open, but eating it sparingly. Same with the Biscotti. I have about a half of one at a time, but not everyday. As soon as I'm finish with them I'm going to want to get on a plane to Miami! LOL The manicure appt did NOT surprise me, know that you Texas girls are "high maintenace" LOL Good for you cause it will be a good relaxation for you, but you'd better check with the surgery nurse before hand because they will need to be able to put the pulse ox thingy on your finger to keep a check on your oxygen level during surgery. I know at times they have agreed to put it on the toe, but you'd better check with them before you spend the money on it & they make you take it off when you get there!

QUILTER/Kim, Be careful on those icy roads my friend! Glad to read that you were able to have a good LOL at work. We all need to do more LOL. It helps with the stress!

Debelli, Did you read my note above to Rose?:dz: Well I got a couple of my books in. A Taste of Lebanon of course is my favorite! But I also got "Low-Carb Recipes", Canning & Perserving without sugar", "I Can't Believe This Has No Sugar" Cookbook which I am disappointed with because none of them are with WW flour, so I'll have to work with them to see if I can adapt. And of course my other buy, "American Wholefoods Cuisine" which I'm waiting for & am VERY pleased to have found. Can't wait for it to arrive. So glad to hear that you are walking again & also that you have found a free Yoga class! That sounds great. Girl, I saw your post about the garage sale buys & you are definitley the Garage Sale :queen: Good for you! Yeap, when you talked about your routine with the dressing at OleOle I had to LOL. But hey, it's a very good idea to do that to get the fat out! Especially with as much as they give you.

Monet, Good for you for getting the treadmill done & even increasing your time! Your menus always sound so appetizing!

Well I've just got to the bottom of page 4 & haven't even opened page 5, but I need to go get in the shower. Have a lunch date with dh at Souper Salad in Lafayette at 11:30. It takes me a good 45 minutes to drive it, so I need to leave in about an hour. Will check back in this afternoon. Will have the boys, so I may not get to the computer till dd picks them up. They discovered the computer while they were living here with us & they want to monopolize the seat when they're here. LOL Wonder where they get that idea? :o

Fillise 02-12-2003 11:18 AM

Good Wednesday Morning!

Morning all! I'm not going on the scale today. I am in my annual VD funk--I just hate that holiday. The worst part it I have to go to our local Heart Ball on Saturday night. I'm in a foul mood all week and that is not doing my eating any good! Bah Humbug!

Melf--You had a lovely day what with the silver saddle and an impending visit to the Boobie Smasher 3000. I'm behind on my annual visits, but have to wait because I'm in the midst of switching health insurance policies, so no Dr. appts. for me until I get completly switched over. I'm glad to hear that you are taking care of yourself!

Monet--Staying the same in fine, like you say--especially if your body is prone to some unexplicable jumps up the scale. Mine is too, so I know where you are coming from!

Gracious--Hon, how can you stand all that cold????? I'm just trying to hang on till spring and I can't wait for summer--the hotter the better (y'all did figure out that I'm one hot mama!!!). I will have to find some room for a crock pot. You have persuaded me!

Mel--Hang in there--if it jumped up suddenly it will go down suddenly. As long as you are eating OP and exercising you are doing all that you can and have to trust that your body will follow.

Deb--Congrats on getting up early for your walk! I think you and Lauren will enjoy Chicago--it is lots of fun!

Zanne--Bad, Bad scale. You could always beat yours to death with a hairbrush like I did!

Kim--Congrats on the loss! Love the attitude girl--you da woman! I do love all the old musicals! I have lots of soundtracks and often put them on and sing at the top of my lungs around the house (if I did it in public I'd be arrested for noise pollution). I hope they make more too!

Miata--WTG on the 1/2 lb! Good healthy attitude too--it is definatly worth celebrating. I thought we might be looking our Kmart (they hadn't restocked in months) but we are keeping it. Now if we could just get a Target here.. .

BOB--My sympathies on your day. But at least it is over for another whole year!!!! Have fun with the Smasher---heh heh heh.

Yellow--I hope the surgery goes well for you. I'll be thinking about you. I also recommend rethinking the manucure. You can get it, just don't get any polish. It would be nice to know that the nails were neat and cuticles trimmed before you go in.

Jackie--I wasn't planning on trying the low-carb beer for the very reason you mentioned, but just wondered how it tasted. I'mnot much of a beer drinker anyway, I'd much rather have a glass of wine or a good mixed drink. The former is obvisouly much better for me than the latter, though I find that the better I do at staying away for alchol altogether the more weight I lose.

Ally--Welcome! I wouldn't worry too much about eating late. Your job makes it a little different and as long as you don't load up right before you go to bed I think you will be ok.

Letty--A teenager and a baby--heaven help you!!!!! It sounds like you are well on the way to good weight loss. You are already int eh habit of exercise--that's one habit I still can't get into. I keep working on it.

Trish--Sorry about the summer vacation--sounds like it will be a rough year for the city.

Sol--I also think you are nervous about the surgery--give yourself a break. It is understandable to be apprehensive. Tell Vince not to be too tough on you! I'll be thinking about you and looking for the good report from Vince once you are home!

Belle has now climbed into my lap so typing time is over. See y'all tomorrow!

Susan

Melf 02-12-2003 11:44 AM

Debelli, Oh, I forgot all about Chat last night. Glad to hear some did remember! So proud of you for getting up so early to walk!! You Go Girl! I got up early this am too, cause when I sleep late (cause I've been so tired), I just feel more tired & don't get anything done. I always feel better when I can get up early. I need to make it a practice & not be so lazy. The weather is perfect right now to be walking. It's cold, but not too cold to get out there. Come give me a push Deb!?? LOL

miata, Congrats on the 1/2 lose. A lose is a lose girl, take it!

QUILTER/Kim, Great to hear that the NEW YOU is doing so well!

Zanne Don't get discourage girl, just keep plugging, that weight loss will come!

Meliris I sympatize with you & can definitely relate! I'm 6 lbs up from my lowest weight too & can't seem to get it back down. You kick *** here & mark the spot for the return kick. Maybe we can get back in the swing if we try hard enough. Get ready! GO!

Gracious, -4 degrees with a wind chill of -20?? I'd sure never warm up! I had a sweater on yesterday afternoon when I went out for my Dr's appt & it was 60 degrees! How do you stand it??!! Girl, I can smell that roast cooking now. I need to get back to cooking. That's alot of my problem, along with not drinking enough...I'm not cooking again. We've been eating out or just nibbling. Not good!

Monet, Staying the same is better than a gain, so be happy! :)

Well, I had a few minutes after I got dressed, so I am now officially caught up with my last post. I'll see all of you this afternoon. Have a great day everyone!

WIW

Wish I had good news to report but I don't..ugh. 158 I put on my size 8's this morning to try and lift my spirits. I feel since I've joined almost a year ago I've been heading the wrong direction. I've seriously thought of leaving but then I would miss hearing about every one....ugh ugh and ugh..:) Truthfully I'm not down but am irrated at myself. Eating was the bomb yesterday except I had a huge piece of ham. My main problem is not being active enough. I'm hoping spring will help me with that.

Sorry I can't make chats on Tuesdays right now. We are doing a dart(bow and arrow) league.

Deb...congrats on gettin out and walking early this morning. I'm hoping to do a video in a bit. I'm making the kids do them with me because they are really slowing down this winter also. Hopefully these will be habits they take into adult hood so they don't have to struggle with their weight.

Mel...hang in there if you are exercising and eating good I'm sure the scales will start back down again. Have you thought about changing up your routine some? I've heard that helps.

((Susan)) sorry this is a bad time of year for you.

Melf...praying everything is okay when you get your test results back.

Zane...I think the scales are out to get us.. :D Hang in there..they will start coming down.

Monet..staying the same is great....I bet you will be down next week if you usually gain around this time.

Gracious...burr that is so cold. We've warmed back up again for the next few days. Then it's gonna get nippy again. The up's and down's are typical for Texas but people tend to get more colds.

WELCOME AGAPE! You'll love this way of eating.

Quilter...wtg on the weight loss. You are doing great with the new you.

Trish..sorry to hear about your vacation getting canceled. Glad your hubby 's job is secure. That can be scary. Nope no snow came this way. Just rain rain and more rain. *smile* I can't believe it's gonna start again this weekend.

Love and hugs to everyone else. I'm gonna read some of the pages I missed from yesterday now. I helped mom clean her house so I was gone all day. Be blessed and encouraged. From this moment on is a new fresh start.

Love,
Crystle

Greetings all. Sorry I've been MIA but my computers been naughty! I've had terrible problems and unable to get on or check emails so I'm back now! Haven't you guys been busy!!! I'm going crosseyed trying to catch up. I'm going to read later when I've got more time and less children!

Sounds like all of you are ok. Welcome to all the newbies and I hope you have a good day.

DEBELLI - I finally got your emails. I liked the one with all the sayings I think they are all very true!

Cheers
