Glad to report that I made it successfully to the chat sight. Seems a bit slow, but hey, I'm new to this and don't know what it's about really. Hubby just asked why we didn't all use Instant Messenger and do a chat that way. Not sure exactly what he's talking about. I've only done one-to-one communications that way. Thought I'd pass the thought along to those more computer literate than me.
BIG ORANGE...could your chat problems be due to the browser you are using? Do you use Netscape or Internet Explorer? Perhaps if you switch to the one you don't usually use it would work. Just a shot in the dark. I don't want you to miss out on the chats!!!!! We've got to find a way.
QUILTER..isn't it exhilariating when you resist temptation?? There is no other feeling quite like it. And throwing away the cookies! Yippee!!! It will make your will stronger Nope, had no idea my DH was planning all that sweet stuff. Oh he drives me CRAZY!!!! but we are soulmates for sure. Meant to be and all that sappy stuff. I am going to try to remember all the details of this V-Day the next time I get annoyed with him
Looking forward to that chat tomorrow...

MsLiz, Ellie, Viv, Debelli and Kim, thanks so much for your encouragement with the change of career. My ex-husband was career Airforce and so I followed him everywhere for that 20 years. Each time we moved I had to start all over again. So now I have decided that there are a couple of areas I will look into and go from there. There are so many different things I enjoy, I want to make sure that I choose the best thing for me. Maybe I should talk to a couselor at the University.
Well, thanks again, you all are great friends. If I can accomplish half as much as you all have, I'll be doing great.
Seems like MAYBE I'm getting better? I now have a sore throat and sound like a foghorn, but I feel less achey, so I'm hoping this is coming to an end, and soon!
Two reminders, TODAY IS RECIPE DAY so if you have a recipe you'd like to share, please click on the link below and it will take you to the RECIPE BOARD:
also, PLEASE DON'T FORGET OUR TEST CHAT TONIGHT AT 9:30pm EASTERN STANDARD TIME!!!
TIRED, glad to see you back posting on the board and doing so well! That's great, 3lbs-you've really been doing well on SB! You are ROSALIE always amaze me on how you can get out to the pools during snow-I wouldn't go out of the house-that's why you are doing so well, your so committed!!! Keep up the great work!
OVERCOME, it shouldn't be too hard to add calories into your daily intake-see what you are low on, protein, carbs or fats and go from there-I'm sure you can find something. Looking forward to seeing you at the chat tonight! PETE sounds like a real love! WOW, does he know how to treat a woman - maybe you should hire him out to give lessons to other men!!! Def. don't forget to give us the name of the chocolate bar!!! If you are craving sweets, usually, if you up your protein, that can solve the problem.
BIGO, congrats on your loss! Keep it up, or should I say, down! I found that book "The Sugar Addicts" something or other, the book we looked at in Mt. Dora, found it at the library yesterday, haven't had a minute to read anything yet though. I hope you find someway to get into the chat tonight!
QUILTER, don't worry about those 2lbs, blame it on hormones as I always do! You did good with resisting those cookies, we're proud of you! I wish I could slap one of those babies on Eli's nose-he's too light of a sleeper though Sounds like you and your friends had a great time in that photo booth!
CHERI, talking to a counselor wouldn't be a bad idea and it won't cost you anything but your time. I say, go for the guidance and see what they say- your options are limitless-you can do anything you set your mind to doing, just as you have decided to follow this WOE!!!
Have to get ready to take Michael to school. Will post a recipe or two sometime later today. I'll look for the carob syrup recipe to post as well.
Hope you all have a wonderful day. I'll check in with you all later, after I have my "day of beauty" under my belt. Going to go more blond and cut my hair shoulder length-hope it comes out good!!!
OVERCOME..... How do I change my browser over? As far as Iknow, I'm using internet explorer..
Can you give me a quick lesson? I really want to be in chat tonight!
OR, if any of you know how to do this, please tell me....
QUILTER...you've got one smart cookie for a "better half"....Deb and I use instant messanger sometimes..It's just like being ina chat room, and just between your group. No outsiders can get in....CAN THEY DEB???
Have a chocolate speciality store here and she makes 80% cocoa bars!!! At $4.25....how many does everyone want!!!! lol
This will keep me out of them on a regular basis...but at least I know that if I'm having a TERRIBLE CRAVING, they are there.
This is double what I paid in Orlando for the
65%....the store here also has 70% at the same price....
Well, I think one of my co-workers is about ready to join me on SB. She has been on a "soup" diet for about a week, and last night her comment was "I WANT SOME MEAT!" While the other 6 girls at the table ate cream horns from a local bakery, she and I ate our orange.
Did anyone have problems with their stomach growling when it was close to time to eat when they first started? Mine picks the most inappropriate time to do it - church, last night in the middle of a mtg with a big boss for the company. Luckily last night I had my Triscuits in my purse, so I munched on them as quietly as I could. Good thing I was at the back of the room.
Big O - He is one of the deaf students at Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga. Studying elementary education. When the Titans and the Rams played against each other, he had a dilemma. The Rams summer camp is held about 5 miles from here at Western Illinois University in Macomb. Didn't know which one to root for. Last summer the Titans came here for a scrimmage.
Morning Everyone! J
I’m happy to say I resisted the bags of chocolate that came home with my kids yesterday afternoon as well as the treats that were already in the house. It was hard, and I absolutely have to find whole wheat pretzels…but NEVER before have I been able to resist. So I’m thrilled. I’m also in my black size 8 Gap Reverse Fit Jeans (their most “generous” cut, I’ll admit) – a few weeks back I couldn’t get into them. Now the goal is to not be tempted to open the top button! I did manage to be SOMEWHAT satisfied by SF Jello chocolate pudding….but it really needed cool whip!
DH did show up with a dozen roses last night, at 8:00 when he gets home, but honestly, after schlepping the kids to hockey practice in the rain and having a romantic dinner with THEM – I made them pink strawberry pancakes and we ate by candlelight – I had sautéed peppers with fresh mozzarella and garlic – I don’t know, I wanted more. Then DH discovered how to do Napster on our new computer at home – so that was the end of that! L I cannot even remember the days when we were really romantic – life just got in the way….
Rhroo – If you are willing I am interested in that chocolate – have you tasted it and how do you like it? After the virus scare I deleted everyone in my address book at home, so email me at [email protected] and maybe I can take you up on your offer? Ijust don’t have a free moment to go on a chocolate hunt, but I do need it. And then DH can hide it for me. Unless he eats it first (he is my next project – he could stand to lose 10 pounds, but of course, dieting is for GIRLS!!!) I think when we go out to breakfast….hmmmm….I love bacon but it would be sugar cured….so eggs….are sausage better?
Glory – Way to go on the –2! What a great feeling!
Country – Isn’t it sad how the world has gotten so small now - remember when you grew up and stayed in the same town you grew up in? I hate the fact that there is a very goodpossibility when my kids are grown, they could live 6000 miles away from me. So I can understand how you feel – my parents are way too far away too.
Deb – So last nite at hockey three of us were moaning about February in Connecticut. Novemember and December, the weather is atmospheric for the holidays, January it’s still a novelty, and by Feb everyone is suicidal. My three best friend are going away next week during vaco – one to St. Thomas, one to Fla, one on a cruise….oh, another to Mexico…If we didn’t have this BM in march, I would run away to Fla too. So go out and hug a palm tree. On the other hand, it is gorgeous here all the other seasons. The hills are beautiful, the gardens are beautiful….But someday, girl, I’ll be y our neighbor! Does Eli manage a Starbucks in Miami? Love the smell of that place…Looking forward to the suggested mealplan board…sometimes I just ened someone else to think for me! Good luck at the chat tonite – I’m actually going out for “cawfee” with a friend and DH will probably be tying up the computer with stupid Napster.
WHO IS INTO SURVIVOR?! We are SOOOO into it – so what if it’s trash and manipulated! It’s fun!
Hey – any ideas on Chinese Hot N Sour soup? Legal????
Tired – I love your screen name. Everytime I read it I think “Me Too”. And I so wish I could swim like you. It was my exercise of choice when I lived in Manhattan – I belonged to a club on the 39th floor of an apartment building – the pool had a glass roof so I would swim with a view of the Empire State Buiding and the midtown skyline….I was so skinny because of the swimming!
Overcome – Can I please borrow your husband? Let me just say, do what you can to ensure that he keeps this up when you guys have kids! It changes things drastically and if we had realized that, I don’t know, maybe we would have done better at keeping things special for just us sometimes…..sob…sniff…. I love Sugar Bust for Life too – I think they are super supportive of SB but because of legalities have to ensure they are both separate entities. Some great recipes. For snack suggestions what helps me is either a plain yogurt with a little fruit spread and sweetener, or triscuits with legal pb on them ( and I don’t like pb, but it’s good protein and quick…) – those might be great for the break room at school? BTW I have 1st and 5th grade sons and just want to say I think teachers are wonderful. I could never do what you do. I’ve been really lucky also to have had great relationships with all my kids’ teachers – plus (BRAG) – my kids are doing really well in school. But honestly, some parents: ….scary, aren’t they? Our town is very very very competitive, and we generally place first in the state for all standardized tests – we just got my 5th grader’s CAT results back – of course his scores made me so proud of him – but our town places in the 98th percentile nationwide….very very intense, very very intense parents. So…I’m just sometimes in awe of how tactful teachers are when I would just open my mouth and something New Yorky would come out….
Ellie – your website is beautiful. What a great talent, and how lucky you are to have found something you excel at and can make $$ at!
Big O – yes on the –1.2!!!! 4.25 for a chocolate bar? Does a trip to Switzerland come with it? You seem to be knowledgeable about Orlando – any great tips for our upcoming trip (which I am drooling in anticipation of – I love the Mouse!).
Quilter – yep, sounds like the +2 is from your splurge, but isn’t it nice that you can pinpoint the reason and then….ATTACK? I’m glad your DH redeemed himself – usually takes mine a lot longer….And way to go on the NO COOKIES! I actually brought a bag of chocolates into work and tossed it at the skinny 20-something guys I work with. They inhaled it….So what are your doing since your career change? Are you working FT or PT? Yes, my 6 yo, Brendan is such a sweetie. I look at his cute little face and could just cry…and I am so proud of his reading. My 10 yo is an awesome reader and I am so excited that this guy is following in his brother’s footsteps. And he is so SKINNY! Where did he get that gene from? I have no idea!!! LOL re: your SIL and husband’s snoring. Honestly, what we women put up with…..
Cheri – good luck on your career search. Keep us posted – Ithink it’s exciting.
OK, off work for the next 3 days so less blabbing from me. I’ll be checking in lots, tho!
Good morning! Thought I'd post a bit before I went off to the Surgery Center. I'm dying without coffee or water or breakfast.
CONFESSION: I did it again last night. Rick took me to dinner for Valentine's Day. I started out fine by having salad with oil/vinegar dressing but then they brought my steak and prawns (BREADED) and baked potato and CARROTS (I only ate one baby carrot). But dinner came with dessert and I couldn't turn down the caramel pecan cheesecake. I am so mad at myself. That's two days this week!!!! Fortunately, there are no food events coming up for a while, and I am getting back on program as soon as I can eat. LOL! Maybe this surgery-induced fast will help.
I'm going to try and get on for chat this evening, with one hand. I've given it a whirl and it works for me. I'm using Internet Explorer as my browser.
Hope everyone's having a wonderful, sugar-free day!!

Ugh...bad night last night. Ended up 18 points over for the day (that's double what my range is), and the worst part is that it was the wine that did it. My eating was fine; the wine is nothing but high-powered sugar. Eeeewww...good thing Valentine's Day only comes once a year! More later, but for now I just needed to whine about the wine.

Just a quick note, the chocolate cake I made last night with chick peas instead of flour really wasn't too bad. I subsituted Splenda for sugar. I'll post it on the receipe board when I get a chance. had to make SOMETHING for vd. and now that it's over, no more Splenda for me!
thank you all for looking at my website, I appreciate the feedback and will keep you posted as it changes.
You know Debbie I love Starbucks, there are two of them on my side of Indianapolis. One is in a Barnes and Noble bookstore. I love it there. I could stay in there forever and drink one of their great coffees and look at magazines. Does your husband manage one?
Ellie, your website looks wonderful. You are so very talented. I have been a Graphic Artist for a while, but with a Newspaper. I love the creativity but HATE the deadlines. I can't wait to see how your web page progresses.
And thanks again everyone for the encouragement, I'm going to go ahead and talk to a counselor. They will be able to tell me how to proceed. Also, there may be courses I can clep, depending on what career course I take.
I hope everyone's VD was nice. Mine was nice. Especially sice the TM isn't up yet Heck I haven't EVEN finished clearing out the junk in the spare bedroom yet!!!! Never said I am a Martha Stewart - LOL.
Well, when I got up yesterday morning, I found a vase of beautiful fresh cut tulips and two red roses, alond with cards from my DH, and our 3 four-legged sons. Now, mental telepathy was working at our house when it came to cards from one of our "sons" - mixed breed terrier, Beau. I got Craig this adorable card with a dog on front, with his tail wagging with the caption reading " I like you so much, I'm surprised my tail doesn't go flying off my butt" When I went to open the card from DH, I noticed that SAME card, BUT didn't have the same personal notations I made!!!!! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT - DH and I bought the same darn card to give each other from our canine "son"
We spent a lovely evening at home, grilled a shared steak and some shrimp down at our dock. While grilling, sipped on some merlot - good atmosphere setter All in all, it was a romantic evening.
Connie - Two days isn't so bad. There are still 5 other days to the week. Let us know how all went with the surgery.
Viv - I like SF Jello pudding too. Try using heavy whipping cream and make your own ..add a dash of splenda
Deb - Hope you will be fully restored to good health ASAP. Drink lots of fluids .. helps the throat.
To all my other friends that I didn't give feed-back to, keep up the determination....so you all can help me keep up mine

Savannah, GA - kinda sticky and 80* here today!!!!!
I'm home, on drugs. The mass was a tumor, but more than likely benign. He had to dig around the nerves to get it out so it hurts like heck. I was fortunate in that the nurse who took care of me is a friend so we got to chat!!!
I was famished when I finally got released, and ended up buying some mixed nuts when I went to get my scripts. That and a diet soda helped a lot!!!
I'm planning to be there for chat. My typing is a bit slow, but I can still do it! WHOOHOO!!!
See you all later!!!

BIGORANGE..You may already have Netscape Navigator installed on your computer. Check start-programs
You could go to netscape.com and download it but it would take a long time and it may not even be the problem.
Also, you can check in Internet Explorer to see if your java is enabled.Go to
Tools
Internet Options
Advanced
Scroll down to Java and see what's checked or not checked. Experiment by changing the options, restarting your computer, and trying to log into the chat.
Good luck!!!
I have a question about yogurt. I have regular, plain yogurt...it has 16 g sugar. Is this okay? I'm assuming the sugar is natural from the dairy, similar to milk.
VIV..I know what you mean about life kinda taking over. I see our friends with little ones run ragged with no time for themselves. Pete and I are undecided about children. Leaning towards not having any. Who knows...I go back and forth. I am not ready for the commitment.
See you all later!!
