Thumbs down Good Thursday morning--well, afternoon

Late getting on today--my internet connection at home wasn't working, so I'm on the computer in my church office now.

Holding steady at 230--ready to see some movement into the 220s, but I know I stall for a week to ten days and then I'll have a good spurt of losses. So must just be patient and stay OP!

I have a lot of work to do here today so I can't reply to everyone--will try to do a longer post tonight. I just wanted to check in and wish everyone a great OP day!

Hi everybody. Well, I survived my echocardiogram and EEG this morning. Thank goodness I had time to go home and wash my hair before going back to school. Extreme goo. I don't know when I'll find out anything about the tests.

TRISH: Loved your post about the donkey. Soooo true. Hope little one gets well soon. Maggie is home with Dennis today. She has tonsillitis.

NANCE: WTG on passing up the goodies at the bday party. I have not been so good lately. Giving in to the stress eating. As for my symptoms….Seems I had a seizure Sat. nite. This is the second one I've had. The first was a couple of months ago, but I thought it was due to a bug or something. Anyway, we've completed all the tests that he ordered. I don't know when I'll hear from them and don't have a clue what comes next. We'll see.

MONET: Hope everybody's OK now. No fun having the sickies.

BOB: Loved that "Perfect Day" posts.

SEF: Hope you're feeling better today.

BETH: I'm so sorry to hear your SD is not better. It is so hard to go through something like this. Been there, done that. I think it was harder to see my mother have to go through it than to let Daddy go. I'm praying for y'all.

Smile Has anyone got the . . .

Has anyone got the SB Shopper's Guide Booklet? I was just wondering. It's really good!

TOM is here. Yuck! I'm still hanging in there on my new WOE. Sometimes it's hard. For instance, we had breakfast at the bank this morning for someone having a baby and not any legal's. Oh well!

Nance:Congratulations on the 2.5 pound loss. Thank you for your concern about Jason and for looking up the alternative to Dilantin.

Frog: Way to Go!

Gracious: Congratulations on being at your all time low! My son Jason (the one who is sick) is going to University to become a Pastor. He is studying Theology and Greek among some other things, but he has not been able to go to school since February.

Fruit: Congratulations on the loss! 3.4 pounds. You're doing awsome.

Shmily777: Congratulations on your loss. 1 pound is awsome.

Kimmythekid-Hope you make it through the party without partaking of the yummy things that are not OP.

Trish: 1 pound gone. Great!

Jack-K: Sorry about your 1 pound gain. Just keep OP and soon you'll step on the scale and get a great suprise!

Tranquil: Congratulations on being .5 pounds from your goal.

Quiv: Congratulations on your 1 pound loss.

MusicTeach: Congratulations on your 1 pound loss. I hope that all of your tests are ok. At least I hope they will be able to tell you why you are feeling the way you are. Sometimes not knowing the problem is the worse part. The Neurologist is having a specialist in Neuroimaging look at Jason's head CTs and MRIs. He has another appointment on May 7. The Dr. also increased his Dilantin. Maybe his seizures will be under control now. I hope.

Beth2374: I'm sorry that your SD is worse. He, as well as you and your family are in my prayers.

Sef: I hope that you feel better soon.

Monet 320: I hope that your family feels well soon. I certainly hope that it's not food poisoning.

BOB: You are so funny. I loved the "Perfect Day for Woman/Man" that you posted.

Red1: Congratulations on your 2 pound loss.

Meliris - Hang in there.

Lizery: I have some of the Richard Simmons tapes too. It's a lot of fun, unfortunately I haven't done any of them in a while.

Deb: I only saw one post from you this afternoon when I started reading? Are you ok? or did I just miss some posts? Hope everything is great with you and yours.

Sheann

Still gaining and losing. I think I'm just happy that I'm holding pretty much the same. After all this stress is over with Jason, maybe I can concentrate on me and this weightloss. Right now I'm just taking it day by day.

Just a quick post before my lunch ends....

MusicTeach-Did you say all your blood work came out okay? You'll hear back on those results as soon as the cardiologist gets it dictated! Call your primamry care and bug them in a couple of days to call the cardiologist and get the results faxed over. Squeaky wheel gets the grease. Did your primary discuss and medications, or wanted to wait until the studies come back.

Sheann-Spoke with the Doc I work for and said if he's a child....should probably add Phenobarbital to take along with the
Dilantin...since you mentioned they keep increasing the Dilantin.
That should help get a better control on things. I also wrote down some alternative meds., but we'll just hang on to that info. for now. Hope all is well (((((((HUGS))))))))

I succumbed to a few cookies. Shame on me! The family is back to somewhat normal, and I have no idea what made the three of them sick! The other four of us were fine! Weird, huh?

Gotta go and get my younger daughter from play practice! I have been working on this post for over an hour! Whew!

Take care all!

NANCE: I took your advice and went and looked on
ebay at Tanita scales. I bid on one. Not sure how
high to go tho! What other brands are good? As for
everyone getting on to you about hopping in bed with Dan
the Man...well, just let them know how much more FUN
it will be once you stick to SB for a while! And how
impressive to pass up cake and ice cream and all that
stuff! Enjoy the recipes, and let me know which ones
I need to try!

FILLISE: I am sure you will get into the 20's real soon!
I lose in spurts too. I sure wish it was steady..like
10 pounds a week! haha! No, I would be happy with two
pounds a week, actually. Heck, I would be happy with one
pound a week!

TRANQUIL: I too would have thought more fluids would
be the answer! Can they give you something for
that? I take a diuretic...it sure helps my edema
a lot! Congrats on the loss! Bubba burgers for supper
huh? Walking along the St. Johns River sounds nice.
Is there a trail? I like scenic walking, otherwise,
I prefer the treadmill!

ROSALIE: I will look for the shredded wheat with fibre.
I love the plain ones, and they do have like 6 grams of fiber
in them. It like having a slice of my childhood!

JRED: Hope you are feeling better today. I know
how frustrating it is to bounce up and down
weight wise! Hope you enjoyed your lunch! It
sounded good to me!

QUIV: I had a giggle thinking about the guy at the gym
struggling with the math on your bf comp. Poor
thing needs a calculator..or was he using one? Tell
Fran we miss her...and to get her butt back on!

MUSIC: Hope you find out something for sure from the
doctor soon. You could have had fun with that goo..
you know, put your hair in a mohawk, or something?
The kids would have loved it!

HEART: Six pounds in a week!? Good going, girl!
I tend to go down in steps. Just hang in there!

TREE: Remember it takes about 40 days to make a habit!
Once past that point, maybe the exercise will be
easier! I know, I can skip a week here and there,
but now I miss it! I used to HATE to exercise!

BETH: I am so sorry to hear your stepdad is not getting
better. I hope and pray he gets stronger, so they
can fix the colonoscopy, and his lung does not collapse
again. I am sure it is hard on your mom, the kids, and
on you with your new job and all. Hang in there!

JACK: No, I did not eat a horse! I am sure the scale
was messed up. I am going to push for a new one. I
think I need it! Mine is about 18 pounds lighter than
the doctor's scale!

SEF: Hope you are feeling better!

BOB:

TONI: Hope you are ok! We had a tornado come through
here about four years ago, and it was an experience
I never want to go through again! The clean up
afterwards was awful! The weather is going back and forth
here too! I am glad it cooled off some, since it was
like record breakingly hot here! Do you eat small meals
for the acid reflux? That helped me when I had problems
with it. Since I started low carbing four years ago, I have
had very little problem. Even now on SB, it seems to be ok.
Hope you can get yours under control!

FROG: Have fun at the beach!

GRACIOUS: Congrats on hitting 164! I admire you for
sticking to one starch serving a day! I love my
triscuits and shredded wheat...maybe I need to try
going with only one, but it sure would be hard! I know
what you mean about food poisoning...I had a very serious
case of it in high school the day after Thanksgiving
eating leftover turkey. To this day, I hate turkey!

MEL: Oh dear! I have ruined my reputation as a good
cook! Everyone is back to normal, and I can't figure
out what it was! Only three of seven got sick, and we
all ate the same things! Weird huh? Don't worry about
the three pounds! Just keep working out and getting
fitter. It may be muscle! Eventually, the muscle
will burn off the fat!

LIZ: Richard Simmons is alive and well, and keeps
making new videos I think! I understand he is great
friends with David Letterman, cause he is often on
his show. I hope you stick with getting up early, so
you can get your workout in! Playing horsey does
burn some calories!

SHMILY: I have been wanting to get that shoppers guide.
I will have to look into it! I have a big gift card for
Border's books, I got for Christmas, I will look into
using part of it for that!

SHEANN: Hang in there! I sure hope you get some good
news soon! And just taking it day by day is going to
help the stress..so don't worry! Thanks for keeping
us up to date!

Quick post before I head home. Going to the gambling boat tonite in Indiana, not to gamble though. They have a hypnotist that is supposed to be haliarious. Friends idea. Going to the buffet for dinner. Guess I will be eating salad.

Nance, Congrats on passing on the goodies at the BD party. Don't you feel so good when you do something like that. With me, I would be afraid to eat anything illegal since so many people know I'm doing SB and I would be embarrassed. So if I am going to cheatI'm going do to it in private.

Quiv, I have a boss like that. Mine is a procrastinator.Actually I have 3 bosses. The one never finishes anything. Always late for everything. I really like my job though, guess I better, been here 30 years.

Trish, Liked your story. Someone sent me that no long ago. Good moral.

Lizery, Good for you today. Exercise does get better. Keep up the good work.

Fillise, Holding is good. Better than going up (which is what I did) Hang in there.

Music Teach, Glad you made it thru the tests. Hope the results are good and soon. Nothing worse than waiting.

Shmily, I Have not purchased the shopper's guide. Thought about it. Maybe I will now. I want to go back and re-read the book. Next time there is a breakfast at work, eat before you go and enjoy your coffee or other drink. You will be so proud of yourself.

Sheann, Hope Jason is doing ok. May 7th probably seems like an eternity. Praying for him.

Monet, glad the family is feeling better. Glad is wasn't your coooking, or maybe if it had been, you wouldn't have to cook anymore (I might try that)

Have a good night everyone. See you tomorrow.

Jackie

Evening All

Didn't mean to be MIA for yesterday and today, but somehow, that seems to be what happened.

Yesterday after the meeting in the morning my Mom met me at my house and we hit Broward together, came home, had things to do, kids to cart places, and I was pooped.

Today, I woke up, took Michael to school and Lauren to an early meeting at school then had to pick her up 45 minutes later. Today was TAKE YOUR DAUGHTER TO WORK DAY down here, so she went to STARBUCKS to spend a few hours with ELI. After she got home from school I went back to sleep. Two days in a row no walking-not good, but I had no energy. Thought Lauren was going to SB at Noon so woke up around 11am, but she took her sweet time to get ready and we didn't leave until 1ish. Came home and went back to sleep agan!!! Can't believe that I am still tired!!!!

Not sure what's going on with me-felt tired yesterday and really tired today. Not going to bed THAT late so that can't be it. Part of me says I should go to the Dr. to find out why I'm feeling this way, though I'm not sure they could even say, or even if there is a reason I'm feeling like this. BUT, I'm very bad with going to Dr.'s and will put it off and put it off. Heck, I broke a tooth while in NC and my Mom still keeps asking me when I'm going to make a Dentist appt! With feeling so tired AND feeling nauseous every day for over a week I know I should go but don't WANT to go. UGH!!!!!

WIW wasn't good for me yesterday, was at 123.5. I have no explanation for why the scales are so far up, maybe all the bad eating I did in NC and following finally caught up with me. Today wasn't any better at 124. 5-the highest on my cushion Eating has been stellar, though it sure doesn't seem to be helping. Today, I'd just LOVE to dig in to some of my major chocolate stash, but I'm not going to do it-I'll just feel worse.

Well, I'm so far behind on posts and I really don't have much time right now to play catch up. I haven't even read them-so can't respond to them. I have to go over to Michael's school in about a hour and sign up for the WEIGHT TRAINING night course they are offering starting next Tuesday. I'm hoping there's not too many people in that class and that there's even still some openings.

If anyone addressed a question to me that I didn't answer from yesterday/today-would you please post it again, or e-mail it to me so I can reply. I'll be back to normal, or at least I hope to be, after this post. I don't think I'll get back on here tonight, going to veg out on the couch and watch the boob tube tonight-will be flipping channels between THE BACHELOR and SURVIVOR and then I'm going to bed right after. You'd think I'd be feeling rested by now, unfortunately NOT.

Sorry I haven't replied to anyone individually in this post, hope you will all forgive me-it doesn't happen often, so I hope you'll give me a break this time 'round

I am playing with an avatar, and stuff, and so I just want to see if it worked.

DEB: Hope you figure out why you are so tired. I have been tired a lot this week too. I am blaming it on the weather... Not sure what else it could be?!

BOB: I lost what I wrote to you above... Hope you are staying strong, and on track to win that competition! Wish I could be there for the dirty martinis...

Default Helloooo!!!!

Gosh it has been so quiet all of a sudden, not so many posts - well, I got home from work just now - and I am in the same boat with you, Quiv - boss irritates the heck out of me, I could have really said Adios today, but I did not instead I snapped at him like a terrier!! How scared everyone in NYC must have been today when there was that explosion in that building in Chelsea - glad that it was something mechanical rather than terrorist.... but still sad for those injured and scared.

Nance - thank you for looking for the quiche recipe, sorry that it was gone....but that is ok - it was just not meant to be - hahaha - and thank you for your compliment!

Jack-K - Sounds like a lot of fun - I have never seen one of those shows, but heard so much about them - good things of course...how hilarious they are....

Monet - I had been on diuretics for almost 10 years - and the doctor said NO more.....just this diet and exercise - and limit the intake... I walked along a road that runs along the river and crosses over a gorgeous little drawbridge into a neighborhood of huge mansions and historic homes - very Florida - Spanish Moss, Live Oaks, the whole nine yards....just love walking along there - smell of the river, the sailboats clanking, the egrets and gulls, and you can see the beautiful Jax skyline, it just makes me appreciate where I live so much.....

Sheann - No gain is good - the same is good - I bet it is hard with all that stress! Sorry that you are going through all this worry with Jason - I hope you get some positive answers soon!

Schmily - Just think positive while going through TOM - and WIW may be really good to you with TOM gone!!

Deb - Nauseated and Tired - hmmmmm, hahaha - has TOM been missing? just kidding.... Hope you feel better soon - and do go to the dentist - the longer you wait, the worse the problem when it comes to teeth! Starbucks - what a dream day!!! Love Starbucks - I had to break myself from the Iced Cafe Latte's with Sweet n Low and sprinkle of cinnamon!

Hello to those I missed - and to those not posting - hello!!! and I have to go cook those Bubba Burgers - sounds so redneck!!!

GOOD EVENING

Just wanted to pop in and let everyone know that I won't be on the board for a while...SOMEONE reported me to the TEACHER for my joke I posted yesterday. And that's all it was...A JOKE!
BOB is quite mad at the moment and needs to calm down. I just wish that whenever anyone has a problem with something that one of us does here on the board that they have the courtesy to address it as a group.

NANCY, BUS, and SHEANN Thanks for your comments, but from now on, I'll include you in email with
my jokes

Thanks to all who have inquired about my challenge..It's going quite well and I'm not having any problem with my eating yet I'm going to succeed with this and you all will be the first to see and hear...

LATER

BARBARA: I did Atkins for almost four years, then switched to SB, and while I did not lose but about five pounds on Atkins, which I would actually lose and regain constantly, I have lost 22 pounds on SB. Here is my opinion on your menu. First: you are eating too much fat! On SB you don't have to worry about carbs..so if you are hungry, you need to eat more. Don't worry about the amounts of carbs, just worry about eating the healthy foods, and watching your fat intake. Second: You are not eating enough! Drop the macadamia nuts. They may be fine for Atkins, but they are mainly fat, and not much else. Go for something with more nutrition for your calories. For snacks, try vegetables and a low fat ranch dip. I often will eat a whole cucumber for a snack. A typical days menu for me might be something like this:

Breakfast: 3 egg whites, 1 egg, fried in butter flavored cook spray, one piece of ww toast with Polaner all fruit, tea.

Snack: Apple

Lunch: large salad with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, and no sugar salad dressing, a grilled chicken breast or can of tuna

Snack: Triscuits with low fat swiss cheese, celery sticks

Dinner: 4-6 oz. steak, or other lean meat, two green vegetables like green beans, broccoli, or yellow squash sauteed with onions. If I am hungry, maybe ww couscous, or half a baked sweet potato.

I try to keep my starch carb servings at three, or less, but somedays, I may eat four. I am sure this slows my weight loss, and as I lose more, I will have to be more careful, but for right now, I want to keep my calories up to keep my metabolism stoked.

Many days, I use Designer Whey protein in milk to increase my protein. I like to keep my protein at 40%, carbs and fats at 30%. I know SB book says 30% protein and 40% carbs, but I feel better with slightly higher protein due to autoimmune disease and other health problems.

I hope you are drinking a lot of water too! You need about an ounce per pound of body weight per day.

Hope this helps!

Red face Thursday Evening

Good evening everyone!

This day has been busy--but I seem to have a little time to breath before ER comes on.

Monet--Cookies--usually I'm ok--but every now and then I really miss cookies. All the SF cookies at Kroger are made with refined flour and often cane juice. Sigh. I like losing weight better than I like cookies--keep telling yourself that!

Barbara--I'm with Monet--you need (1) to eat more and (2) to add carbs and lower the fat. SB is based on low glycemic carbs and is not a no carb or low carb diet. I think SB is much more conpatable with a lifetime change in nutritional habits. I try to go for 40% carbs, 30% protein and 30% fat. I've lost 70 pounds--so something must be working.

BOB--Don't stay away from us! I look forward to your posts every day. Besides you need to keep us up to date on your challenge--and we need to be here to support you in it! Oh yes--and we want to hear all about that little baby you'll see in the next week or so.

Tranquil and Quiv--Try being self-employed! Everyone thinks you can do anything at any time, so I've gotten in the habit of saying that I have to work cauuse my boss is a real b***h! The truth is I have more work to do than ever--cause I'm the one that has to do it all! Oh yeah and then there is my work at the church where I have 500 bosses. Uh-oh don't get me started on that one!

Quiv--I hope you and Fran wern't anywhere near the building that exploded today You are doing great so keep working towards your goal!

Deb--nausous, tired. hmmmmmmmmm. No it couldn't be THAT! But you better get your butt to the Dr to see what it is--and then the dentist. We need you to take care of yourself--because we need you!

Jack-K--have fun at the boat tonight. You'll do fine at the buffet, I'm sure. You can ususally find some meat and some veggie that works--just close your eyes when you go past the desert!

Sheann--I think you are doing well to be hanging in there! You do the best you can and don't worry about the rest--your first priority is your son right now. That's not permission to go off program--but does acknowledge that you have a LOT on your mind right now.

Music teach--I hope your tests come back OK. Please let us know. You are in my thoughts and prayers as you and the Dr. try to figure out what is happening.

My stomach has really been bothering me this week--heartburn and like I have a rock in my stomach. I was a little worried because I no longer have heartburn on this WOE--so I thought I was getting food I shouldn't. I went back to the Dr for follow up on my rash and neck today and he said it was the prednisone. That makes me feel better because I know it isn't me! I cut the dose in half tomorrow and only have four more days anyway--so this won't last much longer. The rash seems to be receeding--I have no idea what was causing it.

I was also bothered today by the fact that every time I sat down my pants bunched up in front making it look like I had, um, a part a girl isn't supposed to have. I REALLY must go shopping for smaller sizes. I went two weeks ago and was smack inbetween sizes. I didn't want to buy the larger size that was already almost too big--but the next size down was still a tad too tight. I should try to go back this weekend to see if there is any difference.

Time for ER--have a good evening everyone!

Susan

Well almost time to go to bed. And think I'm ready. I do want to ask something, would you all name some snacks that you can have. I'm hungry and besides the 2 fruits and some triscuits or a handful of nuts what can you have?

Fillise-I know what you mean. I think tonight I could kill for a cookie... I'm so tickled and proud that you need new pants. LOL....... Bet you can get in that next size now....

Monet-Thanks for posting your menu's it sure helps me to see what other people eat... This helps with my acid reflux (SB WOE) I'm finding its to much caffine thats setting it off...

Barbara-I'm having a bit of trouble with the hungries tonight. I keep thinking low carb cause thats what I was on for so long.

Bob- Oh shoot Bob I look so forward to your posts. I'm so sorry you're mad and something has happened. I'm cheering for you on the contest.... Oh Bob don't goooooooo.....

Tranquil-Hadn't heard about the explosion today haven't had the news on. How awful and I better they were scared...

Debilli- Hope you're feeling a little better tomorrow....

Jack-K-Lucky you I hope you have a great time at the buffet and on the river boat....

Nance-Congrads on your 2 1/2 lb. loss. Thats great....

Sheann- Hang in there it will click!!
