Default The Hot Hot Hot July Exercise Thread!!

Welcome!

...To the July exercise thread! We're trying to make exercise a habit and give ourselves some accountability!

In this thread, we're setting the number of MINUTES we want to exercise for the month -- whether it's walking or swimming or housework!

We're also tracking how many minutes we have exercised as a group!

Please first post your goals and then add your minutes (for yourself and the group) and get some support and accountability! If you're just getting started, feel free to start with a smaller number of minutes (I did!), maybe just a few hundred. It seems easier for many of us to build on the habit rather than meet a very high goal right away.

If you want to join us during the month -- GREAT! Just let us know how many minutes you want to exercise in what's left of the month!

Also, we are working on our 100K challenge -- how quickly can we make it to 100,000 minutes of exercise. (But don't worry, I'll track those numbers separately...)

Here's where we stand so far on that challenge:
January: 9418 minutes
February: 11,129 minutes
March: 15,917 minutes
April: 10,700 minutes
May: 16,091 minutes
June: 13,603 minutes

TOTAL thru June: 76,858 minutes!!! -- Yes, we are over 3/4 of the way there!

Fantastic!
In June, I was able to do SO much exercise, because I was unemployed. Now that I do have a job, it's going to make it a little harder to get in the exercise...but I'm still going to do it! No giving up for me! I'm going to shoot for 900 minutes this month, and we'll see how I do. That's like almost HALF of what I did this month, but I'm okay with that, as like I said, I'm working now. Just sorta a test to see how many minutes I'm able to get in, really, and then next month, I'll be able to definately figure it out...I'm babbling. I'm going to stop.

I am aiming to do 840 minutes of exercise a month, that will be on my Gazelle Rider. I am not sure how much walking I will do, is it ok if I add that as just an extra whenever I do it?

Hugs,

Ammi

I am probably not going to make my June goal of 650 minutes. I really slacked off for a couple of weeks and it has made it difficult to catch up. But I am going to try again in July to shoot for 650. I know if I can be more consistent with my exercise I will do much better toward actually reaching my goal.

Thanks, as always, to wyllen for coordinating this thread!

Kayley -- I'm upping my exercise a bit in the summer and it will be lower in the fall (when I work more), so your idea makes perfect sense to me.

Ammi -- Yes, go ahead and add whatever minutes you like!

Xena -- You know, when I first started this thread I felt like the biggest phony. ME? Start an exercise thread???? I wasn't even doing much exercise myself!

But the amazing thing is that it has helped ME so much too!! I love having us all do this together and being accountable!!!!

So, thank YOU! All of you!!!

I am going to be a chicken and stick to 1200 minutes again for July. I know that I'm going to be closer to 1500 minutes by the end of June, but I don't want the pressure to be on. I am enjoying the fact that if I only want to do 40 mins a day, that is fine. And if I managed to get extra mins in on some days, that allows for having a day off if I need one. It all makes perfect sense to me. I'm still doing WAY better than the 30 mins a few times a week that the doctor recommended, so I will be happy with that.

So... Zelma - 1200 mins for July.

I really do find that this thread helps when I kinda need to do just that little bit extra.

Thanks everyone!

Take care,

Zelma

Okay, I can't believe I am saying this... but I DO respond better when I am competitive with myself and the pressure is on. So I honestly don't know if I can make this.... though I did far better in June but it is hot out, which I hate. But I am going to beat this fat off one way or the other.

Sooooooooooooooooooooooooo.... my July goal is 2000 minutes!!!

Okay, I'm going to go for 1200 minutes in July. I think I'm going to get to 1100 this month (boy, I really do seem to only JUST reach my goals... I think there's something psychological going on there...), and July is another easier month to coordinate, so I'll up it a bit and see!

So, 1200 for me!!!!!!

Wow, back last fall, I was pleased to be getting in 500 minutes of exercise a month! Look at me now!!!!!!

Since I met my June goal of 1200 mins, I'm going to up my July goal to 1300 mins.

I will wait until I am ready to start exercising again to make a July goal, but I will be back! If I am feeling up to it I should be able to be back to exercising starting the week of the 17th, if not sooner.

Misti -- Fairy Fat Mother (FFM??) had better make her rounds next month. I'm not setting any goals on getting into the 1s, but if it doesn't happen in the next month, I'm taking names and kicking some FFM butt!

Hi all, My goal is really to develop the habit of setting aside time for exercise. My plan is to do 30 minutes of slow walking every day (I'm not capable of doing 30 minutes if it's not very low intensity right now). And I'm going to start back on my exercise bike at just 5 minutes/day. I'll add time on that as the month goes on, but I'll also be away part of the month, so I'm going to use 5 min/day as the goal. That gives me a total goal of 930 minutes of walking and 155 minutes biking = 1085 minutes.

I am kind of just jumping in here. I would like to sign up for 650 minutes for July.
