vickie~i've got my fingers crossed for a good weigh in for you.

saundra~i was always the tallest when i was in school too (i'm five nine) until all the boys had their growth spurts. hope coffee with the work buddy is good.

melissa~relaxing is always a good thing! have a nap and watch some tv.

well the baby is finally on the mend. i know he's feeling better because: a)he's had half a banana and some toast with applesauce on it and b) he's playing with the remote control right now.:o :dizzy:

tonight is my church's exercise group that i just recently started. we're starting with the watp dvd and all the women seem to enjoy it.:carrot:

tomorrow is my weigh in and i'm of course worried that i will have gained weight b/c i did not make wise food choices this week at all.

So I guess you've all wondered where I've been since this last post? I just got home from the hospital. Yup, the hospital. I'm hopped up on goofballs right now and see that I'm four pages behind but I'm going to post this and then go to sleep.

Well, Saturday afternoon was a great day, so pretty and lots of sunshine. We were having a good time. Judd and I were in one cart and his two friends were in the other. We were talking and laughing and enjoying it, when all of a sudden he says "hang on" and started off the cart path onto the fairway. He hit a bump, I bounced out and landed on my left hip on the concrete (that side of the cart was still on the path) and then he ran over me with it. When I got up, we could tell it was really bad because my foot was pointing left instead of forward. We went to the truck and headed to the hospital. They got me right in, didn't even have to sit in the waiting room, and immediately everybody was working on it. They had to cut my jeans off which is a real bummer because I loved those jeans. They did x-rays and decided I had to be transferred to another hospital for surgery, so the ambulance took me to another hospital. I went straight into surgery -- by this time it was about 9 p.m. and they got me fixed up. My heel bone had dislocated from the ankle bone, and the ankle bone was broken. They put screws in there to hold everything in place. I have a lot of soft tissue damage and nerve damage, and it's very swollen right now. Wednesday I have an appointment to see the surgeon and at that time he'll take this bandage and splint off and put a cast on.

I'm covered with deep bruises; in fact one of them they did an x-ray yesterday afternoon because they were afraid the bone was chipped underneath it. It's on my hip where I landed.

I've been taking Darvon thru I.V. every three hours, and Lortab tablets every three hours, but they alternate so every 1-1/2 hours, I'm getting something. The pain only goes away for 15-20 minutes after the medicine. For home, I'll only have Lortab. Judd has gone to get some groceries and have the Rx filled.

I think that's all. I'll have to read this later and see if it makes sense but right now I'm quite woozy. I was afraid you'd all be wondering why I hadn't been here for almost two whole days.

I hope everybody is doing okay. I'll be back in a while after I wake up a little better to see what's been doing on.

OHMYGOD KATHY - you poor darling - I am so sorry to hear about your accident - how horrible! What was Judd thinking by going off the path, losing you and then running you over??? (gee if he wanted the life insurance there are easier ways?)

I guess you got the medical attention you needed - boy what a job to fix you up? I can only imagine how painful it must be and I hope you are resting comfortably! Please check in when you can and let us know how you're doing!

Vickie - how was weigh-in? Hope you are having a great day.

Saundra - I find it so hard to get used to one car when you normally have two - luckily bernie works close by so you are not stranded without a vehicle.

Sandra - I agree on stocking up on good reading material or some dvds?

Carrie - glad to hear the baby is feeling better - have fun at your exercise class tonight!

Melissa - a 'free' night off - I can tell you are really looking forward to it!

I am at work today despite some minor aches and pains - really weird - a bit of back pain today and hip pain - as if I had actually exercised or something? ha ha ha - even feels like a touch of the old sciatica in my left bum cheek area? Sure hope it's not a reocurrence - that would NOT be fun.

Left stomach side - feeling better today - it did hurt a bit after breakfast and if I take a really deep breath - but now after lunch seems to be okay?? Hoping that was that!

Bad news - yes I succumbed to the delicious lemon cake someone brought in to work (actually had it for breakfast) - lots of sugar and other naughty things - bad Froufie!

Tonight is dance class for dd and transportation of ds and rented amp back to the music store - challenge is to get this done within the hour (drop dd off - race across town to return amp - race back in time to pick her up!). Wish me luck.

Frouf

I'm about to go take my nap but Judd just got back with some lunch for me. I'm not even going to worry about what I eat. I asked for peanut M&Ms and a corndog, which is what he brought me.

Yesterday he went to lunch with his parents. They went to Cracker Barrel and he brought me back a Raggedy Ann doll because he said I was feeling "raggedy." He asked if I'd ever had one and I said no. He couldn't believe that -- but now I've got one. His parents had gone to the hospital and Judd was leaving to go find me a sleepshirt or nightgown. I was glad his parents showed up so they could help him pick it out, which they did. My parents came over from Tyler (2-1/2 drive) to see me too.

It's okay to drive in the fairway as long as you stay off the green with the cart, and we had been zipping all over the course. For some reason though, this little bump was enough to bounce me out.

sauniemay 03-27-2006 01:34 PM

Oh Kathy, so sorry to hear about your accident. You poor girl, I can only imagine the pain. The only thing I can say is, take care of yourself. Now it's time for everyone in your house to look after YOU.

It is really nice out there. My friend took me to pick up the car at Walmart and now I'm thinking about what I want to do this afternoon. Oh, the life of a retired woman.

My ds called and asked me to take him to the airport tomorrow at 4:00. Cleaners are coming at 9:00 and I think I will make that the last time. Other than that, not much on the agenda. It is a tad boring when Bern works all these nights.

Froufy 03-27-2006 01:47 PM

I guess the fact that "this little bump was enough to bounce me out" certainly verifies your existance as a lightweight! I probably would have caused more damage to the cart than myself - ha ha ha.

Enjoy the m&ms and corndog and get some good pain free rest!

Frouf:)

KATHY!!!! Oh my goodness, I can't believe what has happened to you!! We were right to be worried, and we were!!! I'm glad that you are safe, bless your heart!!! I wish that I were closer so that I could help you out somehow. Make Judd wait on you hand and foot!!! And the kids too!!!

ontarget 03-27-2006 04:05 PM

tomorrow. looks like surgery on both feet thursday. we'll just be removing spurs on both and prob getting 2 injections in the left foot. i am ready to get this done.

melissa, i'm glad you have no class tonight. (that doesn't sound right, does it?) i know you're a classy gal.

saundra, we're waiting on a part for our expedition, too.

frouf, lemon cake sounds good. i hope you're feeling better. what's wrong with all of us? we're falling apart, aren't we?

vickie, how was wi? did you have a good meeting?

carrie, good success with wi tomorrow. glad the little one is better.

Vickie 03-27-2006 05:09 PM

I can't stay because I need to eat a quick dinner before running a couple of errands before the babysitting date.

I gained .4 which I'm ok with given no exercise and TOM.

I see my psychic abilities were right on target. I just knew something bad was happening. Kathy, please take care of yourself. I'll be back later to read everything again more carefully. I'm so sorry to hear how much pain you are in and that nothings seems to be relieving it. Your injury reminds me of the horrible injury that happened to Robin Ventura many years ago. They have video of him sliding into home and his foot pointing to the left instead of straight ahead. It is the worst vision I have ever seen.

I'll be back, but maybe not until tomorrow afternoon. Jim has a followup appontment with the Ortho Doctor tomorrow morning at 10:40, which we just scheduled this morning.

Katpo 03-27-2006 05:58 PM

Thanks, you guys. I'm sorta awake now but drifting in and out. I won't stay long. I think Judd's going over to his parents' house to get a thing that sits over the potty and has arms. They have a lot of things from when Judd's grandma was down here staying with them for 4-5 months last year. They also have a wheelchair that we're going to get for when I go back to work.

Saundra was talking about Froufy losing a little weight from being sick. Boy, can I relate to it now! I know I'm full of IV fluid but other than that, I've hardly eaten anything at all. Sunday morning they gave me a regular breakfast but I realized I couldn't swallow. They had put a tube down my throat during the surgery and it was sore so all the food just stuck there. It was unpleasant. I bet I lose a pound or two.

I promise to read everything thoroughly and reply. I don't want to be a "taker" all the time. You all have illnesses and other things going on too.

septembersgoal 03-27-2006 07:22 PM

Kathy don't be crazy. I don't think any of us are going through anything quite like you are right now. Don't worry about worrying about us!

Katpo 03-27-2006 07:24 PM

Melissa, I see you here. What's up on the house situation? I was going to go back and read but maybe this will be quicker.

I'm going to try and stay awake for a while. I woke up with fever this morning but they let me go home anyway. It went down but now is back up. I'm supposed to be watching it.

septembersgoal 03-27-2006 07:30 PM

Frouf, I hope that you are making all of your deadlines tonight!

Vickie, I think that "gain" might actually translate into a loss, don't you? That's not a big gain at all considering TOM!

Sandra, I don't know whether to say congrats or give my apologies. I hate that you have to have surgery, and on both feet at the same time, but I know you will be very glad to have it over and done with.

Carrie, how was your weigh-in? I hope that you are having a good time at your class tonight. I think that's a great idea.

Well not having class is pretty great. We had a great dinner, but the bad news is that I'm really hungry!!! I guess that's not the bad news, the bad news is that I'm over points for the day. I'm going to try not to eat anything else, and if I do it will be an apple. I've got to control myself!

I do have some interesting news. At work our company has a program called B-Fit and this April-May they are having a Biggest Loser competition! I asked one of the other girls I work with to do it with me, and then we got a couple of others. So we are going to participate! I think it will be really great accountability, considering there is so much JUNK FOOD at work.

Other news, we found another house to look at today. AND the house that we were originally wanting to make an offer on is probably going to go back on the market tomorrow. Our realtor wanted to know if we wanted to make an offer, but now we are interested in looking at some other options. So we'll wait and see what happens I guess!! It's very exciting.

I guess that's all for me right now. I need to finish cleaning the kitchen and do some laundry, and walk the dog.....

septembersgoal 03-27-2006 07:31 PM

Kathy, you better be watching it!! And who is watching you? I hope that Judd is at home taking care of you.

Katpo 03-27-2006 07:35 PM

Judd's home today but he'll be going back to work tomorrow. He said he would make me something for breakfast, and then make a sandwich for me to put by my bedside. I'm not sure where Shaun is -- haven't seen him all day. You'd think he would come down and say hello but I think he's scared of us. Fine with me ... I would end up doing everything myself anyway.

I hope one of these houses looks good! That's so interesting about the original house. Maybe it was meant to be after all! You're still smart to check out others though. I'm excited for you!
