Kathy you got me. I thought someone had stolen your name!!
Vickie, ;) ;) ;) for weigh-in today! Thanks for your concern. It is feeling somewhat better today. I will go through today and see how it feels tomorrow. If it's the same, I'll go to the doctor. Oh, and I don't see how new shoes could hurt! Maybe someone could recommend something for heel problems? I'm set for a great eating day. I hope that I can keep my resolve!! I think it's going to be a long day. :D |
Before you know it there will be katpos all over the place running amok - and switching passwords and trying to confuse us all (which probably isn't too difficult? ha ha ha). Oh no - no moderator today - YIPPEE - (is that like when your real teacher is away and you have a substitute so you can tell her all sorts of stuff that your teacher does which really isn't true?) Oh Katpo1 - the real katpo always sends us $5 bills in unmarked envelopes once a week! (ha ha ha ha).
Vickie - glad your heel is a bit better and hope WI went well. I agree with you - we don't eat near enuf fish - but sometimes reading about 'farmed' fish is even scarier - need to find some of the wild stuff! Melissa - hope your knee is on the mend - and that you go directly to your dr tomorrow if it isn't! ...and it was touch and go this morning - as I tried to get myself up and into the shower. I don't know what's wrong w/me - but I am certainly not sleeping well at all - I feel tired - but as soon as I go to bed the wheels start turning in my head - and I start worrying about stuff and planning things and then I get depressed and frustrated w/all I have to do and want to do - and before you know it it's like 2 am and I"m tossing and turning! (I actually got up last night at around 1:30 pm to check something that I was worrying about in my Collective Agreement!) I think I got around 4-5 hours of sleep (and dh did not do much better as he was a) coughing a lot and b) awakened by my snoring? (I don't think so!) I was going to take a 'funeral' day off - but decided I would never get back into the groove if I did that. Need to get back on my regular routine and schedule and presume that eventually I will be so tired I will have to sleep! So I do have a bit of a headache now and feeling lethargic - can't leave early tho as I have a mtg w/my Director at 4 pm on an important file (and I am seriously considering bringing up that little matter of my manager's behaviour the other week when I dared talk to a 'director' without her present - I would love to get his take on this - and at least make him aware of the situation). Will play it by ear and see how it goes (my manager was supposed to be back from holidays today but has called in sick - so it's quite peaceful here today). Everyone was very happy to see me back - and said how 'quiet' it was without me here? hmmmm (is that a compliment? or ???) Frouf |
Hey Chicks! I'm home from weigh in, Doctor appointment and errands. Jim did well at the appointment but is going to have surgery on his shoulder probably mid April. The only question at this point is whether it will be othroscopic (sp?) or real big boy surgery. Even with the more minor outpatient surgery, I think he'll be in a sling for at least two weeks and have several months of therapy. I'll be a VERY busy girl. I'll be doing all the marketing, laundry, and dog walking that I don't have to do now. You guys won't have me around much then, I'm guessing. He's in so much pain though he really needs to have it done. He can't even lay down in bed all night anymore because it hurts so bad. Anywhoooo......
Melissa, I'm impressed that you went to work. I hope your knee continues to get better. Frouf, you made me laugh out loud! I've been getting $10 bills from Katpo. You should ask for a raise! Kath, I don't think we know how to behave. I'll try my best to be good. Hey...no Sandra! She was supposed to be home yesterday. I hope all is well with her. No Saundra either. Maybe she's still entertaining her Sister. Well, my weigh in was great. I lost 1.6 and I couldn't be more pleased, especially since I used every single solitary WPA. I didn't use my activity points that I earned and exercised 3 times this week. I guess that's what it takes. I make have TOM next week but I'm still going to shoot for a loss. It's been a good day. I think Jim and I are home for the evening. I have to schedule his MRI for him. Tomorrow another doctor appointment and banking. It's good to be retired! I'll be back in a while. |
Never mind.....I thought today was the 21st. I think Sandra is just coming home today.
|
Vickie, I'm so happy for your good weigh in! Way to go with the exercise! Just watch your heel and don't overdo it. :)
We had a small tragedy here yesterday. Our pet gerbil, Candy Ball, died. The girls were very sad. They used to love giving her Cheerios, and watching her play. We had a nice little burial and a good discussion on the nature of mortality. I don't think it had really clicked for them yet. Now they're asking for a new gerbil, so some time soon we'll probably head out and get one. I really don't mind, because gerbils are the easiest pets I've ever had. They're not stinky like hamsters, and they're quiet and fun to watch. I am sick with a nasty head cold, but it's OK. My eating isn't spectacular, but I'm not going to fret right now. Melissa, I hope you find out what's wrong with your knee, and that it gets better. It's frustrating to be limited by our bodies. :) Off to take the little one to nap, Angela |
:bravo: Vickie!! :woo: I'm SO excited that you had such a fabulous loss this morning. I hope to be following in your footsteps soon. I'm sorry to hear that Jim must have surgery but glad he won't be in pain any more. And you better make time for us! :)
Angela, I'm sorry about Candy Ball, but it sounds like the girls took it well. I had a couple of hamsters when I was a kid, and boy were they annoying!! :D Frouf, I'm sure it was a compliment! :D I'm glad that you are doing okay today and that you have a calm, manager-free work zone. I talked to my mom (who's a nurse) this morning. She said it sounds like a strained/pulled ligament and to give it lots of rest. She said if it doesn't improve or gets worse or swollen that I should go to the doctor. Otherwise there isn't much they could do anyway. I'm trying to stay off of it today and keep it propped up. |
Hi everyone out there in Cyberland. It's a quiet day around here, but productive. load two is in the dryer and the linens are changed. I did a little touch up cleaning and feel satisfied. I also made another batch of oat scones, cause I find they are good to have in the freezer.
Vickie, Congratulations on your loss! I know how hard you've been working and am so happy to say your pay off. You will be one busy lady. My bil has shoulder problems and goes to physio weekly. He fell on ice last year and is still waiting to see if the city of Toronto is going to come up with compensation, since it happened on a city street when he stepped outside a pizza place. They aren't holding their breath. Hope everything goes well for Jim. Melissa, I agree that the knee should be looked at if the pain persists. Hope you are doing okay at work today. You never mentioned about that other job, did it materialize? Angela, I know how hard it is for kids to lose a pet. In our time, we had families of gerbils. There were lots of little graves outside of our first house. Hope you feel 100% soon. Hey Kathy, I didn't know that we had to behave in front of you. It's a good thing that I found out, don't want to get into trouble with the head hancho.;) Did you catch the Soprano's last night, really weird. I love tilapia and we order it out often. Frouf, glad you got through yesterday. I haven't even gone out yet today, and am not sure that I will. I just can't wait for another mild snap to come our way. It's good that your day is going okay today. Just maybe you'll get that stuff off your chest with the director. Sometimes it's difficult to make those decisions. Coco, hope the puter is behaving. Are you going for weigh in today? Good luck. Okay girlies, time to bring up the clothes. Maybe I'll see if there is any mail in the box, it's four houses down. |
Thanks, Angela! Your praise means alot to me. I'm sorry you're sick. How's your Mom doing? I'm so sorry about andy. I bet the girls are SO sad. You sound like you handled it beautifully. No surprise there. I bet you're a great Mom.
Melissa, thanks for the great feedback. You guys are all so wonderful! You are so lucky that your Mom is a Nurse. You sure don't need our advice. She didn't recommend icing? It always makes my elbow feel better. Saundra, you sure sound like a busy girlie today! I like when I get things accomplished. Well, I've made Jim's MRI appointment for Wednesday so that's all settled. I'm going to go watch TV now until dinnertime. |
WAY TO GO VICKIE! :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: We knew you could do it - what a great way to start the week - I'm sure the exercising did help - but I also would be careful of the heel issue.
Sorry to hear about Jim's shoulder problems - but I know that he would rather go thru the surgery and be done with the pain once and for all! Good luck at the MRI appointment! I know you will do a great job of taking care of your honey lamb while he recuperates! Angela - sorry to hear of your 'loss' - but sounds like the girls are okay and ready for a new pet which I think is a great sign. Hope your cold disappears as quickly as it arrived! Saundra - very cold out today - and I would be home to if I could be. I am not looking forward to taking dd out to dance class tonight (esp if I have to drag 7 yr old w/me - hope the big boy is at home tonight!). Can't believe it's the first day of spring! Come in Katpo 0 or katpo 1 or whoever you are (spies are lurking everywhere I think!) - crisp $10 bills will do fine - thank you very much!:D So I did tell the Director what had transpired - he felt I should bring it up with her (my manager) rather than him bringing it up indicated I had told him what happened? I agreed, but frankly I don't feel very comfortable doing so? Timing will also be an issue as she is only in for the next week or so then off for a few months for language training. Will see how I feel about doing this! (gee something else to think of while I lie awake at 2 in the morning). Heading home - dh did NOT put roast in - but I do have some leftover spaghetti sauce in fridge so will cook up some pasta to go with it? ...and maybe add a salad? Time to head home! Frouf |
Vickie, thanks for asking about my mom. She's struggling, like you. Two steps forward, one step back etc. Her weight is creeping downwards, but she has to work SO much harder than anyone else at it. I think it's got to be a pre-menopause thing. She did discover that counting points doesn't work for her. She's gone back to Core, which she journals and counts for safe measure. I'm glad, because I know Core is healthier. And she exercises religiously, which is essential to her losing.
It's cold and WINDY here today...a good start to spring I guess. :) Angela |
Yahooty! I'm home and back to my normal self. So there's good news ... I got to leave work early because of the bad news ... the big tree in our front yard blew down in the wind. Yep, just plunked right over.
I'm supposed to be checking the city's website to see if they'll pick up the limbs and thought I'd pop on for a quick second. Be back later! |
Geez, Kathy, how windy is it there? I live in the windy city but our trees aren't blowing over. Will they replace the tree for you? Here, the trees in the parkway belong to the city. It's kind of nice because they replace them if they die......or fall over!
Angela, boy I'd sure love it if your Mom and I could go to meetings together. I sure identify with her situation. I'm really glad she's back on Core though. I really believe it's the best program if I work at it like I'm supposed to. I do occasionally think about the FF stuff. I agree with Kathy about the extra sugar in it. I think I'd be thrilled if I could use the lowfat instead. But, in the meantime, I'm going to keep trying to follow the rules. Frouf, on one hand, I think the Director copped out a bit. On the other hand, I guess I see his point that it will seem like a MUCH bigger deal if he raises the issue. Regardless, the issue remains between the two of you so I'd clear the air if I were you. But, you're right that timing is everything. It might not be a bad idea to tell her before she goes and then she'll have time to soul search. You'll know when the time is right. As far as DH goes, fire the Chef! Sheesh....he couldn't put a roast in the oven. Jim is out getting dinner. Better enjoy it while I can! |
hey Kathy
we had to chop up some of our trees and when we chopped them up small enough (about 2-3 feet length, 4-5 inch diameter) and put them in boxes and strong hefty bags the city came and picked them up no problem... we had to tear down a shed in our back yard b/c the previous owner turned it into a moldy pit. but we took that to the Arlington dump for that one (way too much lumber for the curb)... if you can, find some old boxes and start putting the limbs (cut up) in there...you might be able to get rid of it that way. |
hey chickies,
im back,,,,,,,just got in this afternoon and Im beat! Ill catch up with you all tomorrow..... |
Welcome back, Patti! We've missed you.
