Darn website won't let me go to page 31 to I can read your messages. I'll have to go from memory.
Melissa, I thought I understood your directions. In fact, I got the URL copied but then I didn't know where or how to post it so that it wouldn't be just a link in the message or just a thumbnail. Where do I paste the link in the message to get it to be a full picture. I'm going to go try Kathy's method too except that will be more involved since I don't have a picture place on the web. I do have all my pictures stored on my hard drive though. I'll delete my tests since they didn't work anyway. Kathy, you are a patient like Jim. He's not going to want me hovering around all the time either. And....I won't be able to because I'll be too busy and I'll still want to get here once in a while too. |
Kath, Jim will not be able to drive the whole time that he has to wear the sling, which is 1-3 weeks. So during that time, I'll have to drive him. I'll probably drop him off and go do errands, etc. After he gets driving clearance, I'll just play it by ear. Evidently, in Illinois you are not supposed to drive unless you have full use of both arms. So no driving with casts on any appendages.
Angela, we could make Kathy have a happy time, couldn't we?! |
Hey, hey, hey! I came here and the first thing I see is that Vickie and Angela are going to make me have a happy time! I need to go see what they had in mind!!
Vickie, I'm not sure what's going on with you not being able to see the last page. Hmmm ... hopefully it clears itself up. There are lots of gremlins and spooky things happening on the board these days. BRB! |
Vickie, you goof! You are not a moron ... this posting stuff isn't something we're born knowing how to do. Okay try this. Go anywhere and find a picture. Right click on it and copy the info from properties. Come back and do this (delete the spaces though)
[ img ] (then the property info) [ /img ] Try that. Judd's about to leave but he is making me a cup of hot water first so I can have a cup of tea. I'm content to stay in bed for the time being with my leg propped and my stack of movies. That worked out quite well watching the DVDs on the laptop last night. If Sandra hadn't mentioned it, I don't think it would have ever occurred to me. It's raining a little bit but he's still going to play. I'm not sure if I mentioned this, but he got new clubs a few days before the accident. That's why he's been trying to play every few days, to get used to them before summertime and REAL golf weather starts. The bowling league will end in May so that will be good because if he bowls ($20 per week) and plays golf (about $50-75 per week) at the same time, I'm going to go broke! Angela, so you really like those Birkenstocks? I have definitely decided to get them from Amazon with my g.c. and so I'm glad you mentioned that you had some. Everyone who has ever talked about them has said how comfortable they are. I think they'll be good for me this summer. Hopefully I won't wear out the right shoe before I'm able to wear the left one. Vickie, that's so crazy about not being able to drive with one arm! I think it's a good law, but just never heard of anything like it. Thank goodness Judd didn't have to do that because when his arm was broken, we weren't working together. If I had had to take him to work, it would have been nearly impossible! The girls were 13 and 15, not driving of course, and so I was taking them to school before I went to work. I would have had to send him to live with his parents!! Hey wait a minute ... not such a bad idea now that I think about it! He took his x-rays to show the doctor when I went the other day, just to ask if the doctor thought he could do something else. Judd can't bend his wrist back at all, and it hardly goes forward. The doctor looked at the x-rays (said holy cow, do these funky breaks run in your family???) then looked at his arm and told him he was lucky to have the range of motion he currently has, but nothing else could be done. I think Judd felt a little better. This doctor has published a paper on the type of break Judd had so he is probably as much an authority on it as anyone out there. Anyway, I guess I'll drink my tea and watch TV. The pain is still present but fortunately the medicine is working. I can feel the pain but don't really care. That's some weird drug, huh? |

Angela, these are the ones I was looking at (the sandal). I'm also considering the clog, which would be better for year-round wear. I think I'll wait and ask Judd which one he likes better. The color of the clog is too light; I'd have to either get brown or find a tan color like the sandal.

good morning. i'm a little more sore today but the pain ball is still working. i'm on a walker but not all the time.
saundra, the painball is an inflattable ball loaded with pain meds that's hooked near my incision with a catheter. works wonderfully for around 4 days. i highly recommend one. vickie, your new shoes and inserts should help you a lot. from what dr. b said, you're smart to put off heel spur surgery as long as possible. i am still planning to talk with him about what shoe i need to get for walking. he told me thurs that i will always have to wear orthodics cuz of the plantar fasciitis. guess things could be worse. melissa, i can feel your excitement. guess what? you'll prob lose weight during all the packing, etc.... life is good. angela, thank you for the tip on the birkenstock sandals. i have some sas sandals but i may get some b's if the sas's don't work out. our 11 yr old granddaughter is coming at 2 to help grandpa with grandma. she'll be spending the night with us. i am looking forward to having her company. kathy, i haven't heard from many family members asking how i am. i e'd my bro, son, and cousin yesterday to tell them that part of my problem is hereditary and they should be on the lookout for themselves and their children. the only reply i got was from my brother. all he typed was "ouch." i was kind of disappointed that no one has even called--but life goes on. when i lived in texas, my friends and i would flock to each other when anything like this would happen. i guess my family has always shown this lack of concern, but i didn't notice because of my friends. i am lucky to have curtis. he's a wonderful nurse and companion. and 11 yr old mickol is coming to help. life is good. |
just got a long e from my cousin who lives in panama. my son is the only one who hasn't contacted me now. (they live in texas near kathy) he'll prob e me some photos of the grands. that's what he occasionally does. he's not demonstrative at all. he just e's photos.
|
Sandra, that's lousy about the family. I would be disappointed too. I bet you'll hear from your son soon. Boys are like you said though, not all that demonstrative but I'm sure he cares about you. He just figures you know it! Maybe he realizes you're in good hands with Curtis, but it would still be nice if he checked on you.
I hope your pain lessens quickly. I'm thankful that you're able to get around so well. Sounds like the walker is working out for you but BE CAREFUL anyway!! And enjoy your helper tonight! How sweet that she's coming to take care of you; I'm sure she'll have a great time and be a lot of help. Could you send her here when you're done with her? No really, I'm all set today. I won't be hungry for a long time if even then, and I had my cup of tea. I have a new oolong loose tea that's very good; now I just have to remember to ask someone to make it! |
Kathy, you sound like you are in so much better spirits. That's so great. Those shoes look fantastic, you should indulge while you have the chance.
Angela, funny you should mention it, because I have been doing just that this morning! Flylady would be proud. I don't have any boxes yet, and I don't want to tear up the house completely right now, so I've just been going through things and making big piles of stuff to throw away, sell/give away, and keep. Vickie/Kathy, I didn't know that method of posting pics was bad. I guess it's a copyright thing maybe? In any case, it works. Sandra, I'm so glad that you have a little helper coming to stay the night with you. How fun that will be!! You are recovering so quickly. It's good to hear from you. :D Well I think I'll get back to my purging/cleaning. It seems like we just got this place situated how we wanted it, and now it's time to start over! Oh well, that's part of the fun isn't it? :D |
Kathy, those clogs are the exact ones my mom wears, except her's are black. She loves Birkies, and wears them for everything. She even has Birkenstock garden clogs. Birkenstock also makes shoe inserts, FYI. My sandals are the ones with 3 straps, and they're red. :D I love them... I usually can't go a day without my orthotics without my feet and legs aching. But, in my sandals, I'm fine. So, that's how I know they work, at least for my flat feet. It does take a few days to get used to them, because they do have a lot more arch support than regular shoes. There's even a little paper that comes with them that tells you how to get used to them.
I'm off to Target to look for a new booster seat for youngest dd. Angela |
OOOOHHHHH! I'm REALLY far behind but no time to read now because I have to go run errands. Kath, I just wanted to let you know that I LOVE my birkies! I have about 5 or 6 pairs and just bought a new pair from QVC when they were the TSV. You either love them or hate them. Once they break into your feet they feel like heaven! I'm in them all summer. Here's the ones I got most recently. http://www.qvc.com/detail/ViewOption...classcode=E225

I'm off to Target, Walmart, CVS, and Walgreens. Then out for dinner. I hope I can be back later.

I think I'll go ahead and place my order now, and get the tan sandals. They should be good comfy summer shoes.
MIL just came over with a TON of groceries. She had gone to Costco and loaded us up on marinated chicken breasts, hamburger patties, roasted chicken, some sort of sausage, hearts of palm, pickles, a big relish tray, 4 lb. container of strawberries, bananas, raspberries, lunchmeat and cheese ... and I can't remember what else. She also brought me some new pillows. That was so nice of her. Erin came down and helped her find places for everything in the freezer and fridge. Now Judd will have to cook for me instead of microwaving a Lean Cuisine! I'm sure if I could see the condition of the rest of the house, I would be embarrassed but she knows I haven't left the bedroom in several days and really have no control over what's going on out there. Melissa, the problem with the pictures is sort of a copyright issue and also bandwidth usage. People do it all the time but it can cause some problems. Funny story (that I can't really explain well but hopefully it makes sense): I had a friend who put a picture on an ebay listing. It was a picture that she hosted herself, but someone stole the picture and put it in their own listing by posting the properties. The listing was for stamps and inks. Once her own listing was over, and when she found out someone had stolen her picture, she replaced it. First she replaced it with a horribly messy set of stamps and inks, then a baboon butt, and all sorts of weird pictures, then finally something that said "this picture was stolen." Since she hosted the picture, she could replace just the picture, keeping the same name, and since the other person had put the picture in their listing by properties (instead of being smart and right-clicking, saving it to their own computer, uploading to their own host server and reposting it) ... each weird picture showed up in their listing. It was pretty darn funny but there was nothing they could do about it. They also couldn't complain to ebay because it's against the rules to steal a picture like that and they would have gotten in trouble. I feel a little better but it's time for more medicine. I am trying to convince myself to take it BEFORE the pain becomes unbearable to try and head off the worst of it. |
kathy, i'm joining you with the pain now. the pain ball is almost empty and i can tell the difference. i will be spending most of the time in bed or loveseat the rest of the day.
i will, however, go check out those birkies on the net. have a good day, everyone. i'll be back tomorrow. |
Poor Sandra! Get some rest and I hope it feels better tomorrow. Did you get some oral medicine to take after the pain ball is empty?
I ordered the tan sandals. I figure they will go with shorts and capris and be neutral enough. That reminds me that in a day or two, I will have to start figuring out what to wear to work. Since I'm down to one pair of jeans, I'll probably just wear them most of the time, but I also have some capris in denim, khaki, black and tan. That should hold me for a while. The doctor said I'd probably be in a cast and/or boot for several months. Maybe pretty soon I can go shopping and buy some summer tops to go with the bottoms. |
