melissa, i watched the ballroom dancing last night and loved it. it's not quite ai, but it's entertaining.

vickie, i love the idea of the ankle bracelet being your ww anchor. what a good reward! dont' you feel guilty at all. you earned this.

frouf, congratulations on losing those 3 lbs. now you're ready to keep on heading down those scales.

hi, lisa. you know what's worse than wearing your bathing suit? trying on bathing suits in a store. yep. i hate that.

cher, good for you getting back on track this am. it doesn't sound like you did too badly at the party, though. and congratulations on exercising. i get to start tonight. yippee!!!

terry, talk about impressive!! 10 miles! you be careful with the heat. i hear once you have a heat stroke, you're more likely to have another. don't overdo it.

angela, do you normally plan out your whole week's menus in advance?

i can't remember who was asking me about the homemade granola. i am out of the kasha (buckwheat) and couldn't find any at the store. i've ordered some online but it's not here yet, so today i made some granola just using 2 cups of oatmeal instead of one cup of each. i think it's going to be all right. not as good as with kasha but good anyway.

Sandra, yep, I always plan out our dinners a week in advance. That way, I know what to shop for, and I'm not scrambling at dinnertime. We stick to it pretty religiously, although sometimes we'll substitute or switch days. I find it works very well for us.

angela, that's a good plan. i have found myself already scrambling for tonight. nothing sounds good to me. i'm thinking of changing what i planned to chicken fajitas (minus the tortillas). the turkey breast, cheese, and fruit just aren't going to cut it.

I need to do some serious planning, too. I'm on an extremely tight budget for a while, because we had to pay an obscene amount in advance for the kids' daycamp this summer, which was kind of a surprise. Next time we'll be more prepared.

I have some good stuff stockpiled: A chicken, some canned salmon and tuna, Core pasta and grains and some tofu and beans, so I should be able to build reasonably good meals.

The submarine actually did have a big metal ring set up with a sign that said not to go in if you couldn't get yourself through it. Not a place for claustrophbics, for sure. I can't imagine living there underwater, sleeping with my toes two feet from the torpedo tubes.

I gave in and had some popcorn, but it's still early in the week. Someone downstairs was microwaving a Marie Callendar's potpie, which smelled ridiculously good. I remember from the bad old days that they are something like 700 calories each.

cher, i'm glad you have a good supply of core goodies. that's what's saving me today. i'm making some chicken fajita casserole thingee. it's all core. i guess having that fried fish at lunch got me set for other non-core unmentionables, but i'm dodging that bullet all right. i'm proud of you for not letting the potpie aroma get to you. way to go, girl!!!!

It sounds like I would be too big to fit into a submarine.

That's pretty sad since a submarine sounds so big. I can picture them having to call an engineer with the jaws of life to cut me out of that ring.

Thank goodness I can still fit a bus and most cars. Airplane seats, well, that's another story.

So what do they do if they're out to sea for a long time and one of the guys gains a lot of weight. Is he stuck in the submarine til he loses weight? Now that would be a motivation to stay on a diet.

I think they get into pretty big trouble if they go over the weight requirements--loss of promotion opportunities, etc. They'd probably put the guy on some kind disciplinary status, just as if he'd been caught doing drugs or something.

The signs did note that the Russian sub guys were some of the best fed in their military at the time. It was an incentive because the duty was so unpleasant and dangerous.

Well Hello everyone! I'm back from PT and shopping. Got 4 pairs of sandals for the price of 2 at Kohl's. 3 for me and 1 for Jim. That's fair isn't it!

Two more PT sessions and then the big cortisone shot. Sandra you've just had 2 in your feet and I'm scared to have one in my elbow. I am SUCH a baby.

Lisa, it's always good to hear from you. You'll get under 160 again as soon as school is out and you can stop running around! I've said all along that you have to have the time to plan and shop and cook on Core. I had to return the two new bathing suits that I ordered in March. Had to exchange for one size bigger. I guess I thought I would lose more than I did. It's ok though because they're cute and the same size I wore a couple of years ago when we first got the pool.

Terry, sounds like you had an amazing day yesterday. I'm glad you recovered quickly because even mild heat stroke can be very serious.

Hey Cher, any loss is a good loss! Congratulations. You know you and I lose slowly but we just need to keep plugging away at it. Next week you'll probably have a bigger loss. It sounds like you did a great job dealing with the bad food choices you were given. It could have been much worse! As for the sub, no way on earth would you get me to go in one of those. I think the small space would make me just a little crazy.

Angela, it's really hot and humid here too! I'm hoping my pool heats up real soon. I hope your DH gets your computer fixed soon for your sake and so that you can spend more time with us!

Frouf, it's good to have you back. You were missed. You made some good choices and I'm guessing you exercised more self-control than you are giving yourself credit for. It isn't easy to go out to eat and make good choices. Most of all congratulations for getting rid of that pesky third pound. Now you can start back to working on those "virgin" unlost ones! That's what my old Leader used to call new pounds lost.

Sandra, that's the problem that I'm having lately. I plan my menus and then when the day comes, I find I don't really have a taste for them. I really need to start trying some new recipes. I have a 2 inch binder full and I keep making the same 5 recipes. Stupid!

Hmmmm, Cher, I LOVE those Marie Callendar's potpies. Talk about the ultimate comfort food. I think they were about 17 points and had an obscene amount of fat in them. My mouth is watering. Good for you for resisting.

Terry, airplanes were torture for me the last 3 years that I worked. And, of course, they made me travel quite frequently. It was not easy to stuff 307 pounds into one of those coach seats. I shudder at the memory!

Well, I gotta go make the Cola Chicken. Apparently, it is NOT going to make itself!

vickie, just have jim go with you. curtis went with me and he and the doctor would talk while i was getting my shot. if things got quiet, i would concentrate too much on what was happening, so i'd tell them to keep talking. the pain is over quickly. the left foot's shot was worse than the right. maybe yours will be more like my right foot shot. i hope so.

i've been experimenting with new recipes lately. that helps me stay on target. also, getting new products helps, too.

i have a chicken fajita/polenta concoction in the stove now. it should be done in about 20 minutes.

have a good evening. i'll be back later.

Ding ding ding! We have a winner!

I play games on the computer all the time. If I'm online, I've got a window with a game going. I used to play Bubble Popper on Gamesville/Lycos but don't pay attention to the winners. If you win the games and get a certain number of points, you get entries into a drawing where each day someone wins $25. Anyway, today I got a check in the mail for $25! I was SHOCKED because I didn't even know about it!

I haven't posted much today but I have been around reading your posts as time allowed. Today was a kind of stressful day...the boss you know. I did find an interesting state job to apply for, so I'm going to work on that tonight. I'm going to try to talk DH into going for a long walk tonight, otherwise I will try to get some time in on the gazelle.

Terry, I cannot fathom 10 miles. I am so impressed with your discipline and commitment. Be careful though! That could have been a dangerous situation. Glad to see you back around here.

Frouf, don't you hate that emotional TOM stuff? Its so annoying. Good job with the Thai food today, that had to be a hard situation to be in.

Angela, glad you're back!

Sandra, glad you liked the ballroom dancing. I'm not sure when it actually comes on, I think that was a re-run. Hope your dinner comes out well.

Cher, glad you had a good weekend. Good luck with your planning. I think Core takes a lot of work! Especially when you're on a budget. But it can be done, especially with help from all of these wonderful people!

Vickie, I'm sorry that you have to get that shot. A 2-inch binder of recipes! Share! And if you get the cola chicken to make itself, please let us know how to do that, too.

Talk to you guys later!

Sandra, are you sharing the recipe? Melissa, I'll share any new ones I try that I like.

Gotta go finish that darn Cola Chicken now. Time to eat. I wish the sauce would get thicker. No matter how long I cook it, it just doesn't get thick enough for me.
