Rhonda, that is scarey about your legs being shakey. I'm glad you have Todd watching over you. Donuts sound good to me. I could use a couple right now.

Sloan, I'd like a margarita, too. Enjoy your summer. You're right. It's almost over.

Today we shot the long distances. Tomorrow we'll shoot the short ones. We shot 72 scoring arrows today and will do the same tomorrow. Today's shooting took about 4.5 hours. It was sweltering. Curtis had a battery-operated fan on him between shooting ends. I was dousing myself with cold water trying to stay cool. I can't tell you how badly we were sweating. It was HOT!

Curtis was able to finish today even with knee and shoulder pains. He's scheduled for knee replacement August 3.

I shot poorly at 60 meters (36 arrows) but broke and set new National and World FITA Records for 50 meters (36 arrows). I broke the existing records about 20 points.

We're exhausted but having a fun time. It's good seeing archery friends from all over the US. Also, several nations are represented including Taipei.

My eating was not as good as it has been lately, but it's not been too bad. I normally have Peanut M&M's while shooting--but not today. That's an NSV.

I'm OP.

Sandra, congrats on avoiding the peanut M&M's. I'm so excited for you!

"I shot poorly at 60 meters (36 arrows) but broke and set new National and World FITA Records for 50 meters (36 arrows). I broke the existing records about 20 points." OMG, I knew you were a celebrity. Will your name be on a plaque somewhere? I should think so!!!!

Rhonda, you need to research the protein recommendation. My DH is 175 pounds, and our diabetes specialist recommend 85 Gms. of protein for him. I'm just saying that to say: just be sure you are following sound advice.

Sandra and Rhonda, I drank a Margarita for both of you. In fact, I think I drank one for me, too! It's a good thing that my sis lives almost next door to our house. DH joked tonight that Margarita Night would officially be extended to include Friday and Saturday night as well. I think I might just die first! Oh well, wish me luck!

Sloan, isn't that Sandra something else though! She's a champeeen and she's my cousin. I bask in her reflected glory all the time!

Sandra, I'm glad to hear that Curtis made it through. I just think "ouch" when I think of him!

I say don't die, Sloan, drink more Margarita's. I really enjoyed the one you had for me and Sandra. Now, have one for each of us. No, I'm not trying to keep you from winning the challenge

I slept 11 hours last night!!!! I haven't done that in ages.

I will check a few websites about protein/carb/fat proportions. The people who were saying the 1 g per pound are serious about weight lifting, so they might have a different set of criteria. I may not be that serious, compared to them.

Have a great day everyone...

Hi Ladies

MY shoulder and arm are feeling better today,I guess it the pain killer drugs that are working. Have an other MRI on my neck this Wed,and than a follow up with the orthopedic doctor on Aug 8th.

My DD is coming back up with her family Aug 2 to 5,traffic up here are horrendous. It took me 5 mins to get out of my street yesterday, the tourist know all the local streets and sorry to say don't give a bleep if your wait or not. At least in the off season the locals give each other a break.

Noticed that we have some new people on the thread. my name is Maryann and I been on the core for 13 weeks, several years ago,but unfortunately for me the core didn't work so I'm not counting calories and eat on small plates for portion control. The woman on this board are very friendly and I enjoy there company.

RHONDA=Thanks,I not really worried as I trust the doctors up here, and I know medicine has come so far, than it was when I was a girl. The doctor told me it will be microscope just to get the mess out of the area.

SANDRA=Thanks,I know, its just the waiting that gets me nervous. This pain has been going on since March They first tried PT where it worked for a while, and than when the treatments stopped the pain came back. Now one MRI is done and nothing showed so I now have to have a second one for another area. I have my summer calender filled with doctors appointments. Congrats on breaking the record in Archery. Your doing traffic and we're very proud of you.

SLOANE-Never had a taste for Margarita's had them when I was on the cruise to Mexico. Its like it as it was too salty.

Have to go get ready for today's chores

Well, Sloan, have fun so that there are no calories in the drinks.

I have been reading a new book about weight lifting for women. It says essentially the same thing about 1 gram of protein per pound of weight. BUT, it does make it clear that is for people who are actively lifting weights. For other mere mortals, it say .75 or . 85 gram per pound.

I also learned that I am not eating enough calories on weight training days, so Todd's recommendation to drink chocolate milk is a good one. The book suggested that I should eat 1300 calories on non-training days and 1900 on training days. I'm going to try that approach, and add more protein.

Interestingly, the book says that one of the benefits of weight training is that you burn more calories when you are NOT exercising than do people who are doing simply aerobics when they are not exercising.

Rhonda, you're my weightlifting hero. I am constantly amazed at all you're doing.

Sloan, glad it's margarita night again. Have 2 for me, please. I'm having Diet Cokes tonight. I'm too tired for alcohol.

Maryann, 5 minutes to get onto a road? That sounds like a nightmare. Will the tourists be around till Labor Day weekend?

We finished today. I won but didn't set any more records. When we get home I'll mail in my criteria for the records I won yesterday. What I'll receive is a certificate for each and my name and scores listed on the internet along with other existing records.

Curtis did well and placed well in his group. Life is good. Now we're taking it easy in a jaccuzzi suite and sipping Diet Cokes. Are we a wild pair or what?

Good Morning Ladies

We had a very strong rain fall last night, but what I expected didn't happen the humid weather is back again. Going to try to get my house straighten out as my DD & family are coming up in two weeks and must get the guest room ready for them.

My neck and shoulder aren't bothering me as much anymore as I'm taking the pain killers before they start, and it working so far.

My weight is at a stand still,as I haven't been exercising at all during this month.Hopefully this weather will break and I will be eating properly again instead of picking at food all day long.

RHONDA-Interesting amount of calories when training not training. I read that some where that people are not eating enough calories for the day. My doctor still tells me to lose you have to go down to 1200 and WW wanted me to go down to 1000.So what the correct answer for u gals trying to lose. So much misinformation out there, not even the doctors know.

SANDRA-I think the reason so many tourist are down here is the economy people don't want to go to far so they come from Boston or upper New York State and of course from the all the surrounding states like RI Conn & Maine. You can see tourist buses parked in the Walmart & Christmas Tree Shops parking lots.which wasn't the case last year. The majority of them will leave in August as the college students have to go back to school and the others leave around Labor Day.Sound like you are a happy caring pair, wish I had that again.

Mornin' chicks! I weighed this morning and, so far, Margarita "week" has not caused a gain. I am slowly working on the projects that I had planned to complete this summer, and I'm making good progress. Today I will be working on curtains, vases for the mantle, and household chores.

Rhonda, I have heard the same info about the increased calorie burning for weight lifters. I have also read that weight lifting wards off osteoporosis. You are superwoman!

Sandra, congrats on your winnings, and congrats to Curtis, too. Relaxing in the hot tub with DH sounds nice. We floated in our pool for a little while yesterday afternoon but kept getting interrupted. Have a safe trip home, wave to me as you pass through!

Maryann, I can't imagine how much you miss Leo. It must be very difficult. I do think you are an inspiration, though, for others who are going through the same experience. I'm glad that your family is coming for another visit. Hopefully the crazy tourists won't be in the way of your fun. Be careful to not overdo certain activities while taking that pain med. Since the pain med masks the pain, you might do too much because you are feeling better.

Hey to the rest of you chickies Hope y'all have a fun filled day planned! TTFN

Good Morning Chicks! Sorry I haven't been around much. It's been pretty busy with Brodie. He's still limping but the Vet is having us ride out another week, rather than taking another xray and sending to the Ortho. She is still thinking it is just a BAD sprain. He is demonstrating signs of puberty and we really can not wait much longer to get him neutered. Well, we could but we aren't willing to put up with marking, mounting, etc. We have to wait until the foot is healed so we are thinking it will happen a week from Monday. He gave us a scare last Monday night. I was cooking the Chicken Cacciatore and Brodie got a corduroy bunny tail off a knotties toy that he was playing with. Jim couldn't get him to drop it and I went in with my fingers and couldn't get it out. Brodie swallowed it! It was about the size of a cotton ball. So I quickly called the Vet....yes I'm good under pressure usually falling apart later. The told us to use peroxide and induce vomiting. I had some medicine syringes here and used it. Poor wee Brodie got sick all over the yard but gave up the tail. He seems fine now but Jim and I are just exhausted. He is more active and vital than any of the other of my Scotties! So we have to watch him closer which means less time on the computer. The Vet told us that if we hadn't gotten the ball out, Brodie would have needed stomach surgery. He'll grow out of it eventually....we hope!

So in the meantime, it's all about Brodie.

I hope you are all well. I'm reading and thinking about all of you but don't have ten minutes to spare at the moment as I'm also greedily trying to get into my pool at any chance. It's been a lovely swimming summer so far. Last year we got in only 4 times so we are quite happy this year. Jim's heel is doing well.

I'm off to errands and to get my hair done today. Someone asked me for the Cacciatore recipe. It is on our board but I reworked it a bit and figured out the calories as well since this time I'm not just doing Core. I'll post it when I have a couple of minutes. It was awesome! It made 10 servings, so I have 4 containers frozen for more dinners. All I have to do is make fresh pasta. It came out to around 350 calories which was a cup of sauce and a cup of cooked whole wheat pasta. Very filling and comforting meal.

Rhonda, I'm glad you're ok and that Todd is working so closely with you.

Sandra, you're AWESOME! Talk about upper body strength.

Sloan, you sound calmer. That's VERY good!

Nancy, I'm glad you're enjoying your family and your summer too.

Mary Ann, I hope you can be pain free soon without pain pills. I remember how sad my Mom felt after my Dad died when she'd see happy couples. It's normal to miss Leo and what you both had.

You've all been very busy today. Sandra, I hope you're enjoying that Jaccuzi time.

I went to an hour spinning class, came home, then spent the day and evening with my niece. We had a great time. We had some difficult family matters to go through, but she and I are the family laughers and we make sure that we have some real giggle time.

Maryann, I used some equations in the book to figure out exactly what I needed to eat. The author says that taking 500 calories off what you eat is too much for weight lifters to do. He says that if you do that, AND lift weights, that the body will simply consume the protein that you're trying to make form muscle. He also says that weight lifters can gain 2 1/2 pounds of muscle a month. WOW. There must be a point at which that levels out.

Anyway, I do need to lose. It's not all muscle because the abdominal fat is still there!

Also, just to say....I remember friends complaining about arguments they had with their spouses and I would just think "count your blessings." You miss just having someone THERE.

Brodie sounds like a real little imp! And, I'm glad he gave up the tail!

Good Morning Chicks! We have had tons of rain in Chicagoland and I'm done with it. Most of the massive rains were North of us but we still got almost 2 inches here. Scary stuff.

We will take it easy here today. We'll take Brodie for his first walk today that he's had in a long time. Time to give the foot a test. Daddy is prepared to carry Brodie home if need be.

I succumbed to some unhealthy eating yesterday. I had a charcoal grilled hamburger and it was fabulous. The handful of onion rings weren't necessary anyplace but my mind. And then they were in my tummy. Well, I skipped dinner and am back on program today. I can't even say oops as I did it on purpose.

Today, I'm going to sit down with my Meat Sauce recipe as I plan to cook that maybe tomorrow night. I'll decrease the meat from the Core recipe and calculate the points and serving sizes to make it more Flore/Simply Filling. I'm still on JC but am planning to move back to Simply Filling. At least once a week, I'm going to work with one of my old recipes. The hard part is the serving sizes. I know realize that on the old Core, I was eating at least two servings at dinnertime. Not good.

What's the plan for next week?

Hi Ladies

Just got home from our Sunday brunch, now I'm waiting for my friend to call to see if she'd like to go to a picnic this afternoon.

The humidity is back again, but if we go to this picnic we can go swimming in the lake.

SLOAN-Thanks,That's one of the reasons my DD is coming up next week as it would have been Leo's birthday on the 2.I'm doing fine but I do get days, not as much anymore. We have seen more tourist this year then last as I I guess people still want to take vacations but not that far from home,so I guess the airlines must be doing badly..Oh No I'm definitely not exerting myself not in this heat, hopefully it will clear up so I can get the guest room in order for them.

VICKIE-I'm going to see if I can get along with out them this evening and see what happens. Don't like to meds when I don't need them. I know the feeling your my had,it never goes away but you must continue forward and go on with the life the Lord gave us. Have two friends that don't want to go forward so my other friend and I are going to leave them behind. Its a long time coming as the both need professional help as we can't give those needs to them.

RHONDA-Oh I can understand that, that your need more calories than a person not lifting weights. But I was saying that WW and my doctor tells us that 1000-1200 is the right calorie count I don't believe this as when I eat higher my weight goes down than if I eat at the low calorie count. So who is right, that's THE 64 THOUSAND DOLLAR QUESTION????? CORRECT.

Have a nice Sunday going to watch the woman golf game.
