Good Friday Morning!

Morning all!

It's trying to make up it's mind whether it is going to be cloudy or summy here today--hope the sun wins out!

Still trying to get detoxed--my body still feels sluggish so I think Ii'll try to do no starchy carbs today to see if I cen get the ol system back to where it should be!

Marie--Glad you enjoyed the hot chicken salad! It's one of my faves too!

Beth--Glad to hear that y'all are drying out! Good for you for staying Op through all the turmoil!

Deb--I looked at a bottle of regular coke I had left over from Derby day--8 oz has 27 grams of sugar--or about 4 1/2 teaspoons of sugar---ICK! I Didn't drink any, but poured out the rest when I read that. I knew it was loaded, but who-wee!

BOB--Still thinking about you! I hope you get a Dr. you can trust soon!

ladypmd--welcome! I top my oatmeal with agave syrup and cinammon--very tasty. You can get Agave at HFS or online at sweetcactusfarms.com It tastes a lot like maple syrup but has a very low glycemic index!

Sheanne--I got a new Prevention mag. in the mail this week. They said one of the best ways to get kids to eat veggies is to give them a small corner in the garden of their own--they'll eat what they grew! Sounds like you!

Monet--Where's Gator? We all need to learn to speak French now!

Charley--Welcome! Stalls are not uncommon. Your body needs a little time to adjust. Hang in there and the scale will start moving again! Also just because the scale stalls--your body is still likely losing inches and the weight rearranges itself!

It's Jackie's big weekend! I hope everything is going well for her and her DD. Were thinking about you and anxious to hear all about it--after you get a chance to relax, of course!

Ok, I shot today to you know where.... I decided I ought to get on here and confess. My daughter and a friend were doing a wedding cake and decided to do it here. (Oh, gee! thanks for telling ME!) They left a mess and a ton of cake and icing scraps. Well, I took a taste, than another, and another. It was not pretty. I feel all bloated and yucky. This week has been the week from . I need to get back on track NOW.

The weather has turned balmy. My clothes are sticking to me, and my hands and feet are all puffy. All I want to do is sleep. I may go get in the pool. The cold water ought to revive me! ha!

It has been awfully slow on here. Where is everyone?

Hi Everyone.
Didnt realize I hadnt been on here for a few days. I will have to go back and read all the post. Did take a few minutes and read some.
Well I weighed in on Tues eve. I lost 3 1/4 lbs. I was tickled. Have done pretty good until today. I had a lunch cake. I was really proud of myself last night. Then blew it today. We went to a school fuction last night. They had cake and chips. I passed on it. I didnt eat anything. But then today I ate a cake. So much for being proud of myself.
I went to a health food store the other day. I got some of the stevia powder.(sweetner) I tried it in my tea. I thought it tasted bitter. I also saw they had it in a liquid. Would that be better. But the guy there kept trying to push different kinds of herb pills to take. Not to sure I want to do that. Some of them I never heard of.
Well I better get off here. I hope everyone has a great weekend. Hope you all dont mind me posting on here. I will have to try and learn who everyone is. Take care!!

Hi Everyone

I've been staying on track this past week. Have been putting everything into Fitday. It's working better for me planning and making entries in the morning so I can see if what I plan is enough calories/ratios for the day. I've actually been eating more than usual in the morning. A few mornings I have had both oatmeal and ham and eggs. It seems that I am eating so much. I am aiming for 18-1900 calories a day. I haven't been snacking too much as I have been satisfied with what I am having at meals but sometimes I will snack in the afternoon just to make up the calories. Then I feel like a little kid having a treat. Most days the only starchy carbs I have is the oatmeal in the morning, occasionally oatcakes for a snack. Most of my other carbs have been veggies and the low/moderate gi carbs like lentils, beans and peas. Sometimes sweet potato. I've maintained the two pounds I lost this week so just keeping my fingers crossed that it will stay off. This is my intake for the last two days:

Thursday - Cal 1863, carbs 200 gms=39%, fat 61 gms=31%, protein 133=30%.

Friday - Cal 1770, carbs 193 gms=42%, fat 59 gms=30%, protein 123 gms=28%. (May have a little something later).

I've never been so close to the recommended ratios for fat before. It's amazing what cutting cream out of your coffee can do!

Monet - Those scraps are really hard to resist aren't they. Like when I make cookies I will have a couple before they ar even cooked.

Sheanne - Will be interested to see your pizza recipe. It sounds good. The one I make occasionally is not stretchy but it does roll out easy and I always roll it out very thin and we like it. But always looking for new things to try.

Catchinup - Welcome to the board. I have been doing SB/Montignac for 3 1/2 years now. I've lost 40 pounds in total but have been stalled for the past year. The good thing is though that I didn't gain during that time (well, except for gains during holiday times and vacations which usually came off again fairly quickly once I got back op.) I've just started using FitDay again so I can see if I am eating enough. Deb suggested that maybe I hadn't been taking in enough calories which could cause a stall. Anyway I just started that this week so time will tell.... Did lose two pounds this past week. Losing 6 pounds in three weeks is a good loss. I'm sure if you stay op those other pounds will come off. Slow but sure is the best way to go.

Quilter - You've been a busy little bee. Looking forward to seeing a picture of your jewellery.

I've got three grandkids coming to sleep over tonite. The eldest gs has a soccer game in the morning and I live close to where he will play. He has to be there about 7.15 .a.m. so by staying here he won't have to get up so early. His first game starts at 8 a.m. I will try to be there to see him play as long as I can get his brothers up in time. His two younger brothers wanted to come for sleepover too. Have to get to the kitchen to clean up before the kids all come.

!!!!! UGH!! Well, I just found out that we are meeting some friends for dinner at a CHINESE restaurant! There's hardly nothing legal there and I'm starving- plus the sodium in it always bloats me. This stinks. I've been doing good the past couple of days and I was at 193 this morning- only 1 more pound to go... and then this. Okay I'm thru b*tching.

ASHLEY- I would definetly find a better doc. It is a pain to travel- my son's cardiologist is almost 2 hours away. But it sounds like it will be worth it. When dealing with a major health issue, you need someone who actually cares about you instead of looking at you like a specimen or just a job.

BETH- the weather got pretty bad here(3 tornadoes) the other day, but thankfully no one was hurt. Congrats on getting back OP.

Alright, need to get ready(ugh)...

HiedieHo All!

I had a wonderful time at the stitch group! One thing about stitchers you always have something to talk about! There were so many different projects people brought to show and tell. I took the afghan and a couple of my cross stitch. I drove and two ladies went with me, we never shut up the whole ride. That double batch cracked cheesecake was a hit. I had none to bring home! There were two ladies in particular who were diabetic and were thrilled there was something they could eat. Whay they didn't bring something SF I don't know.

At least I didn't have to worry about supper. I had peeled potatoes and put a roast in the crockpot in the morning. Good thing as I had HFH that night.

Yesterday I spent clearing out closets, switching clothes from one to the other. One closet is storage the other is clothes in use. I pulled out a big mirror stored there for DD. DS wants everything ready in garage so DD isn't disrupting the whole house getting her things stowed in the truck. Then I went out in the pool and hot tub, really needed it after all I did.

DEB: Don't I wish I was cleaning out a Well's Fargo TRUCK. The trunk is an antique from my FIL's days working for Wells Fargo. See above about how your cheesecake was enjoyed! RE: Dented Cans, Zanne is right. But when you open any can there should be a slight hiss from breaking the vacuum, no hiss, no use! You didn't mention your DF, hope he is doing better.

JANE: I never tried the Eskimo Pie sandwiches, but I do like their SF choc. covered ice cream squares. Apparently someone in the family does too as they disappear faster than I eat them. I know there are X left and find less.

BOB: Sorry you're still in misery. My poor DIL was hurting so bad yesterday, asked her boss (chiropractor) to give her an adjustment and he found she had popped some ribs. She had forgotten she carried a big framed glassed picture my GD had done and she was hurting ever since. Yours should be so simple to cure!

RE: that picture. Ashley did this big picture of Audrey Hepburn, it's just brows, eyes, nose and mouth but you KNOW it's Audrey. She put it in a school exhibit and got three big offers for it! But at this point she wants it for herself. One of the teachers who had offered said "When you get in college and need some cash, remember to call me.

Must get to work, because of the closets yesterday I didn't clean house.

The Gunfighter

In the days of the Wild West, there was a young cowboy who wanted more than anything to be the greatest gunfighter in the world. He practiced every minute of his spare time, but he knew that he wasn't yet first-rate and that there must be something he was doing wrong.

Sitting in a saloon one Saturday night, he recognized an elderly man seated at the bar who had the reputation of being the fastest gun in the West in his day.

The young cowboy took a seat next to the old-timer, bought him a drink, and told him the story of his great ambition. "Do you think you could give me some tips?" he asked.

The old man looked him up and down and said, "Well, for one thing, you're wearing your gun too high. Tie the holster a lil' lower down on your leg."

"Will that make me a better gunfighter?" asked the young man.

"Sure will," said the old-timer.

The young man did as he was told, stood up, whipped out his .44 and shot the bow tie off the piano player.

"That's terrific!" said the cowboy. "Got any more tips for me?"

"Yep," said the old man. "Cut a notch out of your holster where the hammer hits it. That'll give you a smoother draw."

"Will that make me a better gunfighter?"_ asked the younger man.

"You bet it will," said the old-timer.

The young man took out his knife, cut the notch, stood up, drew his gun in a blur, then shot a cufflink off the piano player. "Wow!" said the cowboy. "I'm learnin' somethin' here. Got any more tips?"

The old man pointed to a large can in a corner of the saloon. "See that axle grease over there? Coat your gun with it."

"Will that make me a better gunfighter?" asked the young man.

'Np" said the old timer, "I mean smear it all over the gun handle and all."

"Will that make me a better gunfighter?" asked the young man.

"No," said the old-timer, "but when Wyatt Earp gets done playin' the piano, he's going to shove that gun up your *** and it won't hurt as much."

A 6-year-old and a 4-year-old are upstairs in their bedroom. "You know what?" says the 6-year-old. "I think it's about time we start cussing."

The 4-year-old nods his head in approval.

The 6-year-old continues. "When we go downstairs for breakfast, I'm gonna say "****" and you say "***."

"OK!" The 4 year old agrees with enthusiasm.

Their mother walks into the kitchen and asks the 6-year-old what he wants for breakfast.

"Aw ****, Mom, I guess I'll have some Cheerios." WHACK! He flies out of his chair, tumbles across the kitchen floor, gets up, and runs upstairs crying his eyes out, with his mother in hot pursuit, slapping his rear ! every step. The Mom locks him in his room & shouts "You can just stay there till I let you out!"

She then comes back downstairs, looks at the 4-year-old, and asks with a stern voice, "And what do YOU want for breakfast young man?"

"I don't know," he blubbers, "but you can bet your fat *** it won't be Cheerios.

US Air recently introduced a special half fare for wives who
accompanied their husbands on business trips. Expecting valuable
testimonials, the PR department sent out letters to all the wives of businessmen who had used the special rates, asking how they enjoyed their trip. Letters are still pouring in asking, "What trip? "

Life After Death

"Do you believe in life after death? " the boss asked one of his
employees. "Yes, Sir, " the new employee replied. "Well, then,
that makes everything just fine, " the boss went on. "After you left early yesterday to go to your grandmother's funeral, she stopped in to see you."

Not a FF but for all Moms:

This is for all the mothers who have sat up all night with sick toddlers in their arms, wiping up barf laced with Kraft dinner and wieners, birthday cake, and cherry Kool-Aid saying, "It's OK honey, Mommy's here."

Who have walked around the house all night with their babies when they kept crying and wouldn't stop. This is for all the mothers who have shown up at work with spit-up in their hair and milk stains on their blouses and diapers in their purse.

For all the mothers who have run carpools and made dozens of cookies for school teas and sewn Halloween costumes. And all the mothers who HAVEN'T because they're at work trying to keep on top of the bills.

This is for the mothers who gave birth to babies they'll never see. And the mothers who took those babies and gave them homes and all their love.

This is for the mothers who froze their buns off on metal bleachers at hockey, baseball or soccer games any night of the week instead of watching from their cars, so that when their kids asked, "Did you see me?" they could say, "Of course, I wouldn't have missed it for the world," and meant it.

This is for all the mothers who have yelled at their kids in the grocery store and swatted them in despair when they stomped their feet like a tired 2-year old does, who wants ice cream before dinner, and then hated themselves for "losing" it.

This is for all the mothers who sat down with their children and explained all about making babies. And for all the mothers who wanted to but just couldn't.

For all the mothers who read "Goodnight, Moon" twice a night for a year. And _then read it again. "Just one more time." This is for all the mothers who taught their children to tie their shoelaces before they started school. And for all the mothers who opted for Velcro instead.

This is for all the mothers who taught their sons to cook and sew and their daughters to be brave and strong (and sink a jump shot.)

This is for all mothers whose heads turn automatically when a little voice calls "Mom?" in a crowd, even though they know their own offspring are at home.

This is for all the mothers who sent their kids to school with stomach aches, assuring them they'd be just FINE once they got there, only to get calls from the school nurse an hour later asking them to please pick them up. Right away. And they do.

This is for mothers whose children have gone astray, and who can't find the words to reach them. For all the mothers who bite their lips sometimes until they bleed when their 14 year olds dye their hair green.

What makes a good Mother anyway? Is it patience? _Compassion? Broad hips? _The ability to nurse a baby, cook dinner, and sew a button on a shirt, all at the same time.

Or is it the heart? Is it the ache you feel when you watch your son or daughter disappear down the street, walking to school alone for the very first time?

Or the terror in your heart at 1 AM when your teenager with the new driver's license is an hour late getting home. The jolt that takes you from sleep to dread, from bed to crib at 2A.M. to put your hand on the back of a sleeping baby? Or to feel the dull ache as you look in on your sleeping daughter or son the night before they leave for a college in another city.

The need to flee from wherever you are and hug your child when you hear news of a fire, a car accident, a child dying?

For all the mothers of the victims of all the school shootings, and the mothers of those who did the shooting.

For the mothers of the survivors, and the mothers who sat in front of their TVs in horror, hugging their child who just came home from school, safely.

This is for mothers who have tearfully placed flowers and teddy bears on their children's graves. Whose children have died from illness, accidents and the worst of all and hardest to comprehend, suicides.

This is for young mothers stumbling through diaper changes and sleep deprivation. And mature mothers who have learned and are still learning, to let go.

For working mothers and stay-at-home mothers.
Single mothers and married mothers.
Grandmothers whose wisdom and love remains a constant for their grown
children and their children's children.
For Mothers with money, and Mothers without.
This is for you all.
So hang in there.
Please pass this along to all the Moms in your life.

"Home is what catches you when you fall - and we all fall."
Please pass this to a wonderful mother you know.

Good Saturday Morning
Morning all!

It is a gorgeous Saturday here so I'm hoping to get chores done this am and get out and about this afternoon.

I see the board hasn't been very busy and I hope it is because everyone is out enjoying life!

I don't really have very much to report, so I guess this will be quick.

heart--I hope the visit to the chinese restaurant didn't go too badly. It makes me bloat too--but that's weight that's easy to get off! I have learned to just do the best I can in those situations and not sweat it.

Monet--Red Velvet Cake is a formidible foe indeed! You know what you need to to do.

SEF--the stitching group sounds like fun!

Marie--sounds like you are having a great week!

Coco--WTG on the 3 1/4 lbs!!! That's a great loss!

Afternoon Every Buddy!!!

Here's my quickie for the day...Still no appointment with the specialist...wen't for another PT treatment yesterday and they honestly don't think there is a pinched nerve...they are convinced it's severly knotted up muscles..WHATEVER....I'm ready for this to be over!!!

Went to a party last night and didn't get in until after 2am
After endulging in SEVERAL dirty martini's , I've now had my
quota of nights out for a WHOLE YEAR!!!! I laid up in the four poster until 10:30 this morning and I think I feel worse for that than the martini's...

We're going over to Jeff and Tracy's for dinner..We'll celebrate Mother's Day with them tonight and they will go to Tracy's Mothers tomorrow. Kate wants LONG JOHN SILVER'S for her Mother's Day lunch tomorrow, and thankfully, they have started a new dish...BAKED COD....that will be my choice...

I'm sitting here with an ice pack on my shoulder and neck..seems to help the best.

Hope all of you in tornado alley are fine today..is there anyone that we haven't heard from yet?

Hello, here's a quickie check in for Saturday. I'm busy cleaning the house because Paul's family will be over for a mid afternoon meal. (I hope they are all out of here by 8 p.m., because that's when Survivor comes on for the big finale!)

We went to see A Mighty Wind last night. It's was HILARIOIUS!!!!! Those of you who are familiar with Christopher Guest's other films and love his sense of humor will be pleased once again. Eugene Levy is fantastic. Fred Willard is out of control. (I'm now casting my vote for him being the funniest man alive.) My face hurt from laughing so much. The entire audience was howling with laughter. I know I missed a lot of good lines.

Okay, better get on that laundry. We are meeting my Mom and Dad and DB and SIL for dinner tonight. Celebrating Mom's day and Paul's birthday. However, Indiana has been having tornado warnings and all that ick. So I hope it passes through before we're ready to leave. I don't want to be out in the middle of I-74 with a funnel cloud bearing down on us.

BOB---Kate is my kind of gal. LJS is the place to celebrate just about anything. I know I've asked you this before, but what's in a dirty martini.

MONET---Sounds like you are in the midst of a sugar hangover. Poor baby!!! Take it easy. You were smart to throw it all out, just didn't do it soon enough.

ROSALIE---Good for you for staying on track. That Fitday is a marvel, isn't it? You will see some good numbers on WIW. Just keep working it the smart way.

Good afternoon all

Well I didn't get to the 8.00 a.m. soccer game. Decided to go back to bed and slept until about 10. I was up very late last night so needed some extra sleep. My gs's team won the first game but lost the second one. He has another one early tomorrow morning. I will probably get up for that one.

Heartmom - Hope you didn't fare too badly at the Chinese restaurant and could find something worthwhile to eat.

Monet - Thanks for the weighing tip. I will have to remember that on WIW. .

Sef - Sounds like you had great time with the stitch group.

BOB - Hope those dirty martinis dulled some of the pain.

Quilter - I'll have to check out that movie - A Mighty Wind. The last time I checked the theatres there wasn't much on I fancied seeing.

Hi everyone, just a quickie for me. Haven't been feeling well the past few days. Lost 1 lb. af my weekly weigh-in. I've been strictly OP since Monday (yay me!) but I know I haven't been eating enough. Just don't feel like it.

Monet: I am sitting here LMAO over your Friday posts about the cake and the picture of the woman with the scale was too hilarious! I don't think I have ever heard you curse!

It is Saturday and I have been running around by myself all day. Usually my husband and I spend Saturday and Sunday together but today I went and got my nails done and he was putzing in the garage when I got home so I took off and had some fun of my own. Feels good once in a while............
