Hey, kidlets,

My first day back to playing soccer in 7 years was yesterday, and I'm am sore. Owie, owie, owie.

I know we've all been over this, but it's brutal to be running and dodging and kicking with, for me, 90 POUNDS on my frame that shouldn't be there! I mean, I'm proud of my body and what it can do and all that, and I'm proud that I can play 90 lbs overweight, but I don't last long.

My reason for today is that I want to play soccer well, and be able to keep up with the other players. I can't get any speed or endurance in my present state. With 90 pounds off I'll be as light as a feather on the field.

My reason for today, I have to get up infront of a group of people once a month and give a presentation. I feel my presentations go well. I would love to get up on of these times and have the people "say wow look how good she looks!"

I've thought of another reason to lose weight, albeit an odd one.

I want to lose weight so that "chivalry" will not be "dead" for me.

Let me explain...today I wore makeup (unusual for me) and dressed up a little (not my typical "grubbies"). I'm know not thin at 181 lbs., but my figure is much better than it was at 240 lbs. a year ago.

Wonder upon wonder -- a man ACTUALLY opened a door for me. Another man -- HELPED me find my way around a strange part of the city when he realized I was lost.

Mind you -- at 240 -- I OPENED MY OWN DOORS (nobody ever offered). And if I "got lost" -- I "stayed lost". Fat women aren't seen as being worthy of noble gestures, it seems. Apparently -- thinner women get more chivalrous attention from men.

I confess - I could grow to like that!

I just realized I have not yet posted here today! Tonight my family went to the park and my children played on the swing. My Dh gave them all underdogs! I watched them all playing and having so much fun Ah to be young again! However I do not need to be young in age just young at heart! Being overweight adds the years! My reason for today is I want to fit in a swing again so I can fight the aging process.

Hello ladies! and gents

Came across this thread and have really enjoyed all your wonderful goals/reasons to improve our fitness.

I must be a very shallow person but I also enjoy attention from the gents, something that I haven't received since I was a teenager.

A few ladies mentioned a goal of enjoying intimate times with their husbands...with the lights on I am so thrilled that I am now enjoying that particular activity When you are happy with how you look, that just lets you "let go" of inhibitions and, well, just enjoy things.

Sheila - motorcyclemom - getting a motorcycle and learning to ride was my personal motivating source! and now that I have been riding for a year (did an almost 3000 mile trip to St. Louis and back in May) and absolutely loving it, and loving wearing black leather, it is my motivation to maintain the weightloss and keep on working out, for the strength and muscles!

My reason for today, My children are not by any means over weight and I am thankful for that. I want to instill in them a sense of self worth. I want them to look good and feel good. If they see me exersizing and trying to be the best me I can be, maybe they will be a little better off when they hit the teen years, than I was at that time in my life!

Reason to lose weight today... Started two new classes at the ymca this week. yoga and women with weights. I would like to take one class where I am not the largest person in the class.
Vermont mom... My daughter and I was in vermont last summer. We did 23 new states, 6000 miles in 28 days. How did you like St. Louis. That is where I am from, really miss living in the city now we are in the country.

rotd: I want to look like I've always wanted to look! I want to create my appearance rather than wear stuff that is big enough, or stuff that fat people are "allowed" to wear. I want to be me!

Reason for today: I am tired of sitting in chairs and feeling my thighs hang over the side or my but poke through the back and wondering what the people behind me are thinking!

Aw, I know what you mean about butts hanging out!

ROTD: When I stand straight with my arms at my side, my arms stick out at an angle because they're too fat to hang straight! I want the middle of my upper arm to be thinner than the bulge in my forearm.

Only if you're in your 50s would this be a reason!

I want to pay a cheaper rate for long-term care insurance. Like life insurance, the premium goes up if you are heavier than their stupid charts no matter how healthy you are.
