Shad - Happy Hump Day ladies -
Last night, we discovered that our cable box/DVR got fried and died during Sunday night's power outage/surge. The cable company is coming out today between noon and 4 to repair/replace it. Luckily, my boss is letting me leave before noon and work from home in the afternoon.
Yesterday after work, DMIL was REALLY funny. as soon as I got home, I changed into shorts and a t-shirt to mow the lawn. She told me that DH told her to NOT let me mow the lawn under any circumstances. He was worried that all the bouncing on the riding mower would make my back worse. He told her to forcibly hold me down if necessary, which is hysterical since DMIL is probably 4'10" tall and weighs 120 lbs (if that). I told her that I was feeling well enough to mow...and I didn't want DH to have to...plus I really ENJOY riding the mower (and doing donuts on the lawn). I told her that I would face DH's wrath when he got home. She immediately called DH and left a voice mail tattling on me.
Anyway, my back actually felt better after I mowed...I think the movement and a little turning/twisting helped. And DH wasn't that mad. He appreciated not having to mow.
We're going to get storms on and off today...though I think the worst ones will hit to the north and south of us (watch out, Laura). This evening, I'm taking DMIL to the salon to get her hair cut. If tonight's Zumba wasn't one of the Super Intense Advanced classes, I'd probably go to Zumba while she's getting her hair done. Maybe I'll get to the gym and try a beginner Zumba Gold class tomorrow night. This weekend, DH wants to go fishing...and I'm looking forward to having a relaxing day on the water - catching a fish or two would be an added bonus.
Ceejay - I'm glad to hear that you're obeying the doc. Heat and heavy lifting are definitely things you should be avoided. Glad to hear your nose is feeling better. Isn't it a weird feeling when it's kind of numb for so long 'till the nerves get knitted back together?
Happy - Thanks so much for your kind words of wisdom. I think you're right....I think the walking in Chicago put me over the edge. Hope DH gets some answers from all those tests. You're right about the long term effects of meds. And goodness knows I take enough of them for BP and cholesterol, I'd like to be able to cut back or eliminate the pain meds. I'm gonna give a low level Zumba class a try, and also get back to some core exercises. The wet weather has produced a bumper crop of mosquitos...and dragonflies. DH said that the same wet, muggy conditions that promote mosquito breeding, also promote dragonfly breeding. Speaking of mossies, I had bought some natural mosquito repellent made from Catmint oil at the Fair last weekend. I thought it might be phony...but it said 10x better than Cutter brand repellant. And yesterday was the true test...I was out in the yard picking up the dog toys prior to mowing and getting eaten alive by the mosquitos. I went inside got the spray and went back outside to apply it to my legs, arms, face and neck (all the while the mosquitos were swarming around me). Once I had all my parts covered, I didn't get a SINGLE BITE! And mowing our yard really kicks up the mosquitos and makes 'em wanna bite back. But not a bite! And I didn't feel all chemically like when I have Cutter on. I'm sold!! This stuff is excellent! Hopefully we have a clear night on Thursday so that we can see the Perseids.
Shad - Thanks for the lovely photos of Carvaron! I can definitely relate to your description mud driving. It sounds very much like snow/ice driving. Not fun at all. You're either slip-sliding all over...or worried about getting STUCK! Had a great laugh about taking a lot of swear words to connect to the Internet. That IS the mantra of IT. And in my case, it has taken a never-ending stream of swear words to get the two beastly projects I've been working on even close to done.
Mel - Sorry to hear about all the alarms, and the cranky medical team! If they would have cooperated they could've gotten to the pateient faster. Glad to hear the cops stuck up for you and said you did the right thing.
Laura - How was the meeting and dinner afterwards? I hope it wasn't too dull or too late a night.
Annie - Hope you have a great day!! Did you brown bag any more yummy garden veggies?
I'd better get some work done.
Love and hugs,
