Froufie, sure hope the doctor has gotten back with you. Despite your discomfort and pain, you still sound in good spirits. You are the most cheerful person I have ever "met"! Such a positive example you set for ole, grumpy, sour grapes people like me!

Kierie, keep an eye on that weather and be careful traveling home. I sure wish I could look forward to being sent home from work because of snow. Down here, all it would take is a couple of inches!

Thanks for the information, Vickie. I've read so many good things about Trader Joe's. The place we have here is called Everman's Natural Foods (or something like that) and it's supposed to have every kind of healthy anything you might want. It looks really neat on their website ... even has a deli/snack bar on the premises that serves only healthy stuff. The salads look pretty delicious. I think I will venture over there this weekend ... alone, since DH and DD would be pestering to go about 2 minutes after we arrived there!

Hi KO,
Hope you get to go home soon. I am in PA and we are having snow too. DS's preschool was canceled and DD being dismissed at 1:45. I suppose they'll want to play in the snow later. Ugh!!

Hey frouf I bet margaritas will make your butt feel better!

Kathy, hope your day goes faster with the extra work load.

Vickie I wish we had a Trader JOe's here. I don't think we have anything like that. I'll have to look around.

Angela - my DS always gets croup in the fall and the spring. Thought he had it last week., was afraid I wouldn't know if he stopped breathing when I was sleeping. Don't they say they outgrow it by 5 yrs.old. I hope so. , there were several times where I had to wrap him in a blanket and walk around outside., used to crack his bedroom window too when it was cold out. Dr. said if it's not cold out, put his head in the freezer.

Gee...margaritas or drugs....margaritas or drugs???? Hard choice? I think I prefer the strawberry margaritas sitting under a palapa watching the ocean go by!!!! But in the short term guess I have to settle for drugs??

Dr. appt at 3:15 (luckily there was a cancellation)...but it will be heck just getting there. I am so immobile and embarrassed at hobbling around. I have to stop every few steps to "rest" and I'm sweating and hot after just managing a few feet. I usually park around 1/2 to 1 block away from medical bldg (too cheap to pay for the parking lot next door), but wondering if I should splurge this once? It will probably take me at least 10-15 minutes to get to the building - can I count that for today's exercise?? Will get my prescription at the pharmacy in the bldg to cut down on running around!...and then home home to "relax". Will let you know if any mandatory bedrest is required! (well maybe I can sit at the computer all day???)

Pain is now radiating down to my knee and almost to front of shin - I seem to be getting worse not better!!!! Okay I don't want anyone here to take WALKING for granted - we don't realize how lucky we are!!!

Kierie - hope you too are feeling better and get to go home soon! We are expecting (more) snow tomorrow - whoopee doooo....

Deborah - I will go to the health food place with you! I love browsing thru those places - and we could always stop for a salad when we got hungry!

Kathy - sorry to hear you are on your "own" - take it easy and make sure you get your fix of computer time as required!

Will post later from home once I am happily drugged up and comfortably resting in my bunny jammies!

Keep us posted, Froufie, on what the doctor says. I hope you will splurge and pay to park close to where your appointment is. It certainly sounds as though you are getting worse so extra exertion probably isn't a good idea.

Kierie, I also hope you shake off your fever. I made the corn bread recipe last night too ... Vickie's recipe, I think? It was very tasty, Vickie. Anyway, using the recipe as it was, I made 12 muffins so I don't think you need to double it unless you want a whole bunch of muffins at one time! I overcooked mine though and they were a tiny bit dry but they have a wonderful flavor. Probably not something I should cook very often since I can keep eating them long past my comfort zone!

Lisa, I wish I was there to play out in the snow with the little ones! It will probably tire them out so much they'll go to bed early. Wishful thinking, right?

Hi everyone. We're doing pretty well here. I took Annika to the dr, who promptly gave us a prescription for a nebulizer and albuterol. So I've got her on breathing treatments here to keep her from getting too wheezy, and she's feeling pretty good, so far as I can tell. I, on the other hand, feel really cruddy. But so far, my eating today hasn't been too out of control. I had a bowl of rice krispies and a piece of bread and butter for breakfast, Froufie's soup for lunch, popcorn, and bread and jelly for a snack. Boy, that bread and jelly was sure good! I think it's a comfort food for me. I think I'm going to make mac & cheese for dinner, because I know everyone will eat it. I will probably have leftover chicken though, because mac & cheese is a major trigger food for me. Mmm - mac & cheese with hot dogs. Drool!

OK - I hear baby dd up from her nap, and it's time for another breathing treatment. Thanks for "listening" to me whine...I am not a good nurse and sick kids fill me with dread. I'm getting used to it after 6 years though.

Angela, my DS also has the nebulizer. They say when he gets a cold he gets wheezy., but I can't get him to do it. He'll do it for a couple of days, but not twice a day for 6 weeks like they want him to. I hope they gave you the strap on "oxygen type mask" It's much easier than trying to hold the other thing in your mouth.

Good luck; hope DD feels better soon.

Hi everyone,

I've been scarce, but trying to keep up. Congratulations on the successful WI. I'm jealous of all you all you get 2 and 3 pound losses. I'm fighting for every ounce here.

My WI was flat on Saturday. I don't feel too badly about it though, because I was bloated like Macy's balloon most of the week. I'm sooooo close to my first 10 though.

Sorry about the sciatica, Froufy. I had a very mild case for a while when I was pregnant and it was no fun at all, especially at night.

Deborah, definitely do try your local health food store. We have Trader Joe's and also Henry's (Wild Oats) and a few others. They often have more choices in whole grain pastas and lots of variety of bulk grains. They also have some great CORE soup choices that are hard to find elsewhere (e.g., lowfat and vegetarian chili and bean soups.)

Take care of the little ones, Angela. I'm a rotten nurse, too. My son just brought a perfect attendance award home from kindergarten and I realized how lucky we've been this season. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Hi Cher,
I'm with you, a slow loser. Took me 16 weeks to lose 6.2 lbs., did gain 3 back over Christmas, but still only down 6.2. I think I need more than 30 minutes of exercise a day, just haven't gotten the energy to try that.

Frannie - snowing like crazy here too. Kids came home from school early and they are saying snow until 2 a.m., probably will amount to 10 inches or more.

Frouf - hope you're all drugged up and feeling better now.

Gotta run DD wants me to watch American Idol with her.

SEe ya tomorrow.

Gracious alive, what a day!!! I don't even have the strength to answer your posts, but I hope everyone is okay.

I left home at 6:30 this morning, went to the store to get the supplies for making lunches for the night shelter. Got to work around 7:15 and you already know my coworker had called in sick, so I had to do both of our work plus make 100 sack lunches.

I left work at 5:00, raced to the vet to see Zuki (who had surgery today and is going to have to stay in the hospital for a few days because he's on morphine and they can't let him go), went to the gym to work out, then back home to hurry and fix dinner before American Idol starts, which is in like 4 seconds!!

After it's over, I have to clean up the kitchen, get clothes ready for work tomorrow, feed and potty dogs, then clean out the freezer, fridge and pantry because DD has gone to the grocery store and will be bringing home lots of stuff.

Then rest! HOPEFULLY!

Unhappy Froufie Bites The Dust!

Oh Kathy - please slow down - you are tiring me out just reading that post! YIKES! Hope puppy is okay and will be home soon!

Angela - glad you got the meds and that your dd is feeling better. Sounds like you definitely need some r&r too - I too would go nuts on mac & cheese so I can relate!

Frannie - we are expecting that big snow starting around midnight tonight - kids of course hoping there is no school tomorrow! How's sis?

Hi cher - nice to see you checking in!

As for me seems I am in pretty bad shape!!! (must be all those drugs making me laugh w/giddiness). Dr. made me walk on toes, heels, poked my back here and there (OUCH)...bend forwards okay, bend backwards (DOUBLE OUCH). Definitely a bad case of sciatica - so: I am on anti-inflammatories (once per day), Tylenol 3 w/codeine (every 4-6 hours), going for x-rays of hip and back tomorrow, going to sign up for physiotherapy tomorrow, and HOME FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK!!! (and longer if I am not up and about).

Can you believe this? From a frolicking froufie to a flat on my back or sitting in a straight back chair invalid? This is not good!!!!

At least I get to go out tomorrow for the x-rays and such - I am not a good stay-at-home patient. Just sent an email to my boss (who will freak) with all the outstanding issues and meetings for this week (which need to be rescheduled!). Also missing a fun birthday lunch tomorrow!!! Besides the fact that I will not lose weight this week and probably gain weight due to being home and lying around like a beached whale with nothing to do but eat and sleep! UGH!...and of course no exercise at all!

....and what about that beach in Mexico that is calling my name??? Dare I make any travel plans if I can't walk? Hopefully I will recuperate quickly (like by next week) and can still travel (16th or 17th??). What a SUPREME BUMMER!

Hoping the Tylenol 3 will kick in pretty soon and take me to dreamland! I could use a good "fantasy" right about now!

Extremely Cranky Froufie

Froufie, I feel for you! Just remember, you have to focus on getting well before you can be actively losing weight again.

Good luck with all those pain meds. I'm planning on doping myself up with Nyquil heavily tonight. (Of course, for me that's one full adult dose instead of my usual 1/2 dose. )
