Dang...I have the headache from you know where and it will not quit. I had hoped the caffeine this morning would help, but no go. I just downed a quart of water, hoping it might be partially due to dehydration. The meds I am taking tell you to avoid ibuprofen and aspirin. Well, gee, thanks a lot! I get a headache and can't take anything for it. grrr.
I have a dentist appointment in a little while. I need to get ready for it. I may just get all ready then lay down and chill. I will probably fall asleep and sleep through it. I rarely do that, but when I do something like that, I do a frightfully good job of it.
The weather is just perfect today- so I think you all need to get out and take a nice walk. Don't forget to post it on the exercise thread!
I can't believe I haven't posted all week. I'm so sorry. But fell off the back steps and sprained my ankle and have had to stay off of it. I'm better now and back to walking. DH has cooked all week. So eating wasn't great. But now I'm back..... Its rained, rained, rained, here, we're soaking wet in my part of Missouri. I hate when its damp and gloomy. Monet I tried your asparagus and it was wonderful. Thank you so much. Welcome back Woodfrog so glad to see ya here. Hi to everyone else.......
TONI: I am so sorry you fell! I hope its much improved. I hate having to rely on the family to cook for me... You are excused from walking today since you sprained your ankle and its raining there..
I tried to post this morning and Jacob came up and hit the back button to erase it.
SO, now I don't ahve much time but wanted to say hi. I had my smoothie for breakfast, but broke down and had a Chickfila biscuit between meetings. I was so hungry. I've noticed the last few days that I've been hungry all day long. Lucas must be going throug a growth spurt.
I didn't go to the Y this AM because of my meetings and then park day for the kids. Tomorrow I ahve my Area Manager meeting in the morning so I won't make it in either I'll try to get our walk in tonight and maybe a little more.
I gave a firend and her baby a ride the other day. It's a tight squeeze getting 3 car seats in the back of that Passat. I'm not looking forward to it at all.
Monet- If you have to avoid ibuprofen or Asprin, you may still be able to take Tylenol. Same restrictions with Pregnancy, but Tylenol is Ok. And it really helps more than I expected it to.
Woodfrogs- Welcome back!!!
Ok, gotta go meet my mom, so I haven't the tiem for more replies
Monet--I agree with Talitha--try acetamenophen, which is what Tylenol is. That, hopefully, won't react with your meds.
KayC. How funny! We do the same thing for mothers Day--Clean the garage. It's a tradition that we started a good number of years ago. It's the only waay we really get the garage cleaned, and it is almost party-like, with everyone, except me, of course, working, sweeping, organizing, etc. Then we have a meal together.
I got my 2 mile walk in this morning. So far I have over 10000 steps.
Food today:
B. South Beach brand shredded wheat, with berries and sk. milk
L. Egg salad (homemade) on 1 slice SGWW bread, 1/2 pita bread with some hummus, fruit conserve.
Dinner will be roast beef and veggies.
It is so interesting to see how through this board everyone has come together and BOB is getting a meter. Neat!!
I am back from the dentist and grocery store. I am really hungry. My bg is really good...but I am seriously thinking of eating something. The headache is still with me. Talitha and Gator, thanks for the suggestions, but Tylenol is not all right either. Arthritis meds, pain meds, etc. are all listed as not ok! Hopefully, the headache will eventually subside, but its annoying.
I am loving the little tubes of flavoring for bottled water. Today, I found three flavors by Celestial Seasoning that are sweetened with stevia! Woot! I got the best sounding one to try.
I got this in my email this morning and wanted to share...I think it's cute:

I'm a WHOLE day ahead of myself!!! TOMORROW is the OAKS!! I sat here and cursed ESPN for not having the race on and then it dawned on me..good thing too...I wouldn't have gone to work!!
I hope everyone has had a great day. Its been nice and hot here and then it came a hard shower and made it humider that it already was. I worked at moms for the last 3 days and will do so tomorrow unless it rains cats and dogs....lol.
Monet-It takes a little while for your bg to get regulated to the meds. I know its agravating but just hang in there it will adjust.
Bob-Ashley is doing great. I registered her for Pre-K last week...EEEKKKSSS!!
I don't know what I'm going to do without her being around. And your very welcome from my hubby. Yes hes very sweet, he will bend over backwards to help anyone needing help and I'm the same way. We will get the meter in the mail tomorrow. Since his dad passed away the first of last year hes really buckled down and taken better care of himself. His dad was a very bad diabetic and didn't take care of himself. He ate what he wanted and took extra insulin and between that and his blood pressure going up and down it caused him to have a major stoke and it was only about 4 months later he passed away. Thats why hes very up on the lastest diabetic meds.
Wood-Welcome back. So sorry about your mom.
Gator-
Hi Talitha, Cindy, Munch, and everyone else have a wonderful evening!
I took a nap after dinner. It did not help the headache. Tom and I went for a walk when I got up after an hour of resting. We walked at least a mile...it actually felt pretty good. So I got in at least 2.5 miles today. It really shows with the bg...it was pretty good when we got back. One mile can make it drop even 50 points. It is amazing to me.
Once we got back, the headache just started creeping up again.
Has anyone seen the new 3FC book yet? A lot of the moderators already have copies and are reading it. I am expecting a copy tomorrow. The reviews are great...its supposed to be funny, and very informative. I can't wait to get it!
Dinner tonight was beef curry. I made Chana Dal too, with spinach and tomatoes. Chana Dal is very low GI...if you like Indian food, try it! I used the low carb potatoes in the curry, and tested my glucose levels before and two hours after dinner. The whole meal only raised my glucose levels 30 points, which is within the 50 point range you are supposed to stay in, so I think the low carb potatoes are probably fairly low GI. I may check JUST them, and see what happens. Has anyone else ever tried them? They are called Sunlight potatoes. I get them at Publix.
I need to go fix Tom's smoothies, so I better get off here. I may check in again before bed.
Since it is "Thirstday", I am drinking a big ole glass of water. Now to hope I am not up 50 gazillion times during the night!!!
Tonite at work was awful. One really snotty woman with an attitude and one new girl in tears (I think she has some emotional issues). NOT fun. I would love to tell you all the details, but my fingers would fall off. I am emotionally spent too. It takes a lot out of me to bend over backwards to please and still not accomplish it. I wish I was more of an "I don't care what people think" person. But I'm not. I am super sensitive and NEVER like it if I hurt someones feelings. So tonite was rough. But I know I'll feel better after a good nights sleep (if I'm not up in the potty all night).
Did good today with eating and exercise. Did not get my walk in yesterday like I planned. Oh- and my weight was the same- forgot to chime in with that yesterday as well.
I am too tired for replies. So I will just say this to all..... as I was reading everyones postings tonite, I am so happy to be a part of such a wonderful group. What a compassionate, kind, (and just darn funny) bunch of 'Bustin Babes you all are!!! OK- On that note..... Sweet dreams to ya!!!
Monet-Got your pm, glad to help! We have tried the lc potatoes. I baked them and Sean said it was the best potato he had ever had. It may just be that he doesn't get them very often anymore!
Good morning! The headache is still with me. I am going to try espresso in a little while here....
Here is a Friday Funnie...just in time for Cinco de Mayo...
A Spanish teacher was explaining to her class that in Spanish, unlike English, nouns are designated as either masculine or feminine.
''House'' for instance, is feminine: ''la casa.''
''Pencil,'' however, is masculine: "el lapiz.''
A student asked, ''What gender is 'computer'?''
Instead of giving the answer, the teacher split the class into two groups, male and female, and asked them to decide for themselves whether ''computer'' should be a masculine or a feminine noun.
Each group was asked to give four reasons for its recommendation.
The men's group decided that ''computer'' should definitely be of the feminine gender (''la compu tadora''), because:
1. No one but their creator understands their internal logic;
2 . The native language they use to communicate with other computers is incomprehensible to everyone else;
3. Even the smallest mistakes are stored in long term memory for possible later retrieval; and
4. As soon as you make a commitment to one, you find yourself spending half your paycheck on accessories for it.
(THIS GETS BETTER!)
The women's group, however, concluded that computers should be Masculine (''el computador''), because:
1. In order to do anything with them, you have to turn them on;
2. They have a lot of data but still can't think for themselves;
3. They are supposed to help you solve problems, but half the time they ARE the problem; and
4. As soon as you commit to one, you realize that if you had waited a little longer, you could have gotten a better model.
Ooooh, the board is slow this week.
Got my 2 mile walk in this morning. My sweet DH went with me. And then had to run like crazy to get to the gym to lift weights. We were talking with the construction guy and that ran me a little later than normal, so had to leave with wet hair and no make-up.
Got 14000 steps in yesterday and this afternoon my DH wants to play a little golf. So, if we walk, I will get in plenty of steps today also.
My mouth is still sore from the new bottom braces. I can't wait till this "barbed wire" is outta my mouth!! And I have over a year to go!!
Not much news. Just wanted to check in. Hope everyone has a great day.
I just got in from shopping...I went to the Asian Market to get tapioca pearls for bubble tea for the festival. I got enough stuff to put my order over $50 which qualified me for a case (50 pounds) of nappa for $4!! I got it...and will use it for the dinner I am fixing for church Monday night. Such a deal! I dropped Laura off to get her car from CVS, and went in to give something to Justin for her. He asked the pharmacist if there was anything I could take for a headache. The pharmacist said ibuprofen was ok, just not to take it long term with out asking the doctor first. So, I walked back out, got in my car and popped two with water immediately. The headache is better...but not gone. I then went to Publix and got a few things I need for Monday plus a few things for dinner tonight. We are going to have pork and nappa. Surprise! tee hee... I love nappa..and it is usually $1.49 at Publix. It is more like 49 cents a pound at the Asian market, but 50# for $4...well, that is a steal! And it does keep a good long while because it is a cabbage. I checked my bg levels. After being kind of high at lunch time, there are a nice almost normal number now.
I got my copy of the 3FC book today. It looks great! I will give a report once I have read it.
Off to rest my weary bod. Then I need to jump back up and cook! It never ends!
