Exciting that Miss Holly will be a certified therapy dog, Dagmar. Have a joyful family lunch.

We celebrated U.S. Thanksgiving with our two kids, spouses, and two DGD's. Ate moderately enough for a festive occasion. We took a walk after dinner to make our bodies ready for dessert.

Glad you enjoyed your Thanksgiving Bill. The walk after dinner to make you ready for dessert sounds like a good idea.

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and Joyous Holidays to you, Dagmar, and to Alice, and to JayEll, and to any lurkers (who could use this holiday to peek in and wave).

Our celebration is Christmas Eve dinner (last night) with our two kids, their spouses, and two grands. Grand brouhaha it was. So much fun to see the joy of the 10 yo DGD getting a new book to read. And the 5 yo getting a new board game to be played at our house.

I hope everything is OK where you are Alice. That winter storm looks awful.

I think I am done with the annual holiday food overload. We were gifted all sorts of sugary things and I'm finding I don't want them. I just threw out a batch of quite terrible cookies. DH will be angry about that but I think if we are overindulging it should be with delicious things. I am having ice cream for dessert tonite and probably on New Year's eve and then I'm done.

Such a useful thought, "overindulging should be with delicious things." Wasting calories on the mediocre is a waste.

Happy Holidays, my friends! I indulged with a chocolate bar on Christmas, but overall I ate a reasonable amount. I agree with both of you - indulgence should be saved for really good treats!
After more than three dreary weeks under the layer of Tule fog, we briefly saw the sun, and then the rain arrived. But it's all good. Lots of snow in the mountains now. We'll have dry weather until mid-week.
It's amazing that another year is done. I'm actually going to do a resolution this time, to get down to 126 in 2026. I have no idea what I weigh at the moment, but probably 7 to 8 pounds more than that.

I am roasting a duck for New Year's Eve dinner tonite. First time. I have a good recipe from Jamie Oliver - his stuff is simple and easy to follow - so it should turn out well. Going to serve it with mushroom fried rice and a green salad. There are Portugese custard tarts for dessert - frozen since we don't have anything fresh like that here - and ice cream. I will take a pass on the ice cream. Too much of it during the holidays and I just don't want it right now.

Hope you all ring out the old year with something you enjoy.

Happy New Year! I think I'm the last one still in 2025, while all of you have moved on to 2026. I'll be joining you in about 45 minutes. All is thankfully quiet here. There were a few fireworks earlier but the light rain has discouraged would-be revelers.

Dagmar, hope your duck was scrumptious!!

Happy New Year to you all.

I expect we're all in the New Year since we don't seem to have any posters from American Samoa - the last inhabited location before the day line in the Pacific.

Got on the scale finally.

I started with Three Fat Chicks back in April 2007 and I weighed 152 lbs.. I have done that sad thing that a lot of people do and have gained all the weight back in the last 5 years. So I'm a maintenance failure right now.

I had a successful method for losing and then maintaining that loss. I will start to use that method again to lose the weight again. I do NOT want to be an overweight old person.

Starting weight is 154 lbs. My goal for 2026 and into 2027 until my 70th birthday is to get back down to the 133 - 136 lbs. range where I feel good and can maintain the weight without a lot of pain and suffering. :

I just posted in a 50+ forum for weight loss. I will still keep posting here too - hope that's OK - since I regard you as long time friends and don't want to lose that.

Absolutely! Finding inspiration and support is an ongoing challenge. We'll keep in touch here too. I belong to an online group of women who have been together for over 15 years. We are all late sixties and early 70s now. The focus is no longer on weight loss, just family challenges, grandkids, and daily fluff. Not really my thing, but they are all friends now. I hope you can find some of the stick-to-it-iveness that has been eluding me lately.
