Sounds like a great ambition to me! I also love the idea of having a picnic at the gravesite on Memorial Day... my family does not do that in ol' stuffy Massachusetts, but why should Mexico have all the fun with the Day of The Dead?

I think too often the dead are forgotten, or thought of morosely, rather than remembering the joy they brought their family and friends.

Hi BerkshireGrl! You were right about the sizes.

Has anyone heard anything about Noodles (Angel)?

Noodles has gone out of town to get some rest and relaxation. A lot of stuff has been going on with her and her family lately - eye surgery, daughter was sick, etc. I think her and her family just needed a break. She will be back though and said she would pop into the forum if she gets a chance.

I agree - it used to be common to go to cemetaries for Sunday picnic. I love cemetaries. I kind of got that way after I was widowed. It was such a comfort to me to be able to go there, but of course there are differences, fortunately the one I went to was more like a garden and they were very tolerant of putting things on the graves.

I think since modern medicine has just exploded in terms of knowledge and treatment, death is not so omnipresent in our lives and we as a society are in denial about it. It's a shame I think. We are kind of the same way about chronic illness and such.

Anyway, on to more pleasant things. The hospital where I work passed JACHO review. Whew!!! That was a real stressor which is done. I need to go to the pigs anonymous thread to say what I did to celebrate it being over.

My sweetie the bass player sat in with a band last night. I will tell you, being a 51 year old bellydancing bassman's lady is SWEET.

Got me a wildmanbadboymusician!!! Havin' a real good time.

I get to say "I am with the band".

Never could imagine this was where I would end up in life, but it is a good place to be.

It's a quiet rainy Saturday here and we are just chillin'

Nona

Hey y'all! Well, I've been a bit on the DL lately. I needed some downtime after housesitting. I've been rescuing my apartment from CHAOS, so that I can do some entertaining this summer. DBF and I took our friend from Korea camping in the Gila wilderness. It was really great to get out of the city. If any of y'all are ever in south-western New Mexico I can highly suggest it. We stayed at this great little campground with naked hippies, hot springs and a teepee. The woods there is the most green I've seen in NM. This week I had the weirdest stomach virus (or something), I just had a massive headache and nausea for two days, then it was gone. The weirdest part was that if I ate salty crunchy foods the nausea would go away for a while, so I ate almost nothing but popcorn. But I'm feeling all better now.

BerkshireGrl: When we lived in Napa DBF and I would picnic in the cemetary all the time since the parks were always crowded with tourists. It was the most peaceful place in town.

Jessica: Yay!!!! Straight A's is a great accomplishment!

Graceful Goddes: I hope your pup stabilizes soon.

Speaking of dogs DBF and I are thinking about getting a dog. We've been looking at the "Whippet" breed (miniature greyhounds). Does anyone have experience with these dogs? I'd love to know more about them from someone who can speak from experience.

lol, naa. my MIL paid my phone bill for me. ( which i was very greatful for) i tend to either get bill help, or ask for household goodies. i did get a messed up eye. new kittie decided to play catch the eyeball while i was sleeping and he bit my lower eyelid in the corner, and it hurts and looks like i got in a fight. now i was asleep and all i knew was i woke up feeling some weird pain, threw kitty went back to sleep. woke up and thoguht i had crusty eye. naah it was dried blood so i go in bathroom and about freak. wake hubby up , crying "what happened to my eye" both of us are baffled then last night he woke up cat was doing same thing to him mystery solved, i know feel like i should lock said kitty in kitchen at night for fear of my poor eyeballs.

Happy birthday Heather! Hope your eye gets better soon!

Just trying to relax and completely dreading going back to work tomorrow. Maybe I can go back to CA, and just hid out with the boy some more.

Good morning

Well for some reason it is Monday and I am actually in a really good mood must be the sunny weather and warm temperatures. Plus I got to wear my new sunhat for the first time this season. It is a black foldable straw hat with a very large brim that frames my face and protects me from the sun and I have a matching straw bag with bamboo handles. I felt very chic and all Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's this morning as I walked to work

Darn we really need a diva smiley!

Glad your eye is better Heather - what a little brat cat! Mine will bite you just for the sake of it...she bit DH's nose once...and only once....she never tried that one again...she will go for your toes still though
