  • Yay Heather!

Well today I actually got up early and it was really nice! I needed to be up early so that I could go grocery shopping while Bryan was in class. I got my shopping done pretty fast, since there was almost no-one in the store at 8am. My biggest triumph, though, was using cloth grocery bags. My mom made me four for my birthday because my Shirley kitty loves nothing more than to chew on plastic ones. I'm scared to death she'll choke on one. It felt so good to come home and put the groceries away without having to worry that while I was putting the peas in the freezer or the beans in the cabinet that she would run off with an empty bag. I also get to pick up my sewing machine from its tune-up today. It has been sitting unused since I started grad-school. I have a few projects I'm dying to work on, now I want to add cloth bags to the list, since I need a few mor for when the list is longer. I'm also planning to make a skirt out of men's ties and another out of a pillow case. I'll post some pics when I am done. Hope y'all have a great Thursday!
  • Hannah, that skirt out of men"s ties sure sounds interesting.
well i am so tired , kicked my butt not used to 10 hour shifts. and i def. need to make sure i start packing OP healthy lunches. and drink tons of water. according to the scale i sweat 2 pounds out today. well it is early to bed for me. hope everyone else had a good day.
  • As y'all can see I changed my avatar. That's me at the Western Wall in Israel in January. I was about 8-10 pounds heavier then, but I still like the picture.
  • You know, nobody has posted anything in the Alternachicks Member Gallery. Anybody want to put in some pictures this weekend?
  • oooh, I am a bit of a chicken in that aspect.
  • The only fairly recent pictures I've taken are "motivational" ones: me in a pair of biker shorts and a sports bra...very very SCARY.
  • Quote: oooh, I am a bit of a chicken in that aspect.

I don't take pictures, i am the girl with the knack for disappearing when cameras come out.
  • Doesn't have to be a picture of you-- could be anything. I like Ellis' weight lifting hamster, myself. Or is it a gerbil? What's the difference between a hamster and a gerbil, anyway? Do they interbreed? Can I watch?
  • Hi everyone! Been awhile. I am trying to get modivated for the millionth time. I think about you all a lot. Maybe I will stick around for awhile this time.
  • I haven't met you yet flower, but welcome back!

I am getting so excited about this coming couple of weeks. I'm headed off to a Summer Seminar retreat at a Buddhist monastery in Jemez Springs, NM. The place is totally beautiful all the food will be temple food, prepared by the monks. I'll be taking classes from amazing scholars of Buddhist Philosophy and I get to get out of the city for ten days (I have to come home for the weekend). The only thing that is a bit daunting to me is getting up at 5am for meditative practice. Fortunately practice is not required, but I hear from friends that in order to get the fullest experience one should get up for it. Ugh, 5am....I wonder if the monks make coffee. So, I'll probably pop by tomorrow, then I'll be away until next weekend.
  • Wow Hannah that sounds amazing!

    Welcome back flower!
  • Hi Flower.
Hannah, can't wait to hear all about it when you get back. have a great time.

  • Hannah - that sounds incredible! Enjoy yourself!!!!!

    Welcome back flower.

Heather - Just kick the computer.

I think I am going to put up a few pictures this morning.

Things have been good, but busy. Work is interesting. I am doing different things now. I am learning a lot. I am hopefully going back out to California for work in August. I will get to see the boy while I am there too. So we are both excited. It is still in the planning stage for now. But as soon as my training gets approved I can book the flight. I am going to learn "Data Management and Upgrade". I know you are all jealous.

Off to clean the apartment, since Ellis didn't get here while I was away.
  • There are a few pictures up now...
  • Hey, thanks, Squeaker! I'm trying to post photos, but I don't see any instructions on it. And the thing claims I'm an unregistered user, too. In fact I've had some trouble posting, it takes several tries and "forgets" my login, even though I've given it permission to set a cookie. I don't know what's going on. Am I supposed to report tech glitches here or go up to the 'help' sub-forum and post there?

P.S. I've played with it for a bit, and read Suzanne's posts on it in the forum help. It seems to be some sort of "corrupt cookie" problem. Evidently they go bad and you have to throw them out, just like in real life. I'm going to post to Suzanne now.

P.P.S. O.K., I've got it figured out. It was a problem with corrupt cookies and the login. Evidently you have to login on the picture site itself, even though you are logged in here. It doesn't carry over to that page, at least not on my link, which predates the new software. But I've got a picture up!
