Hello all! Another Phase 1-er checking in!

I just finished day 2 of phase 1 - and it still seems doable. Actually, I did do South Beach a couple of years ago and was pretty successful and lost about 15 lbs. Now it's time to get back on the bandwagon - and hopefully drop those pounds that i gained back!

Default Phase 1 - Day 3

Well, I finally started SBD I'm on day 3 of phase 1 and already feeling much better for it! I actually feel like I've already lost weight, although I'm not going to weigh myself until Friday. Usually, I feel bloated all the time, but that feeling has gone, and even my jeans feel more comfortable today!!

Having a husband who is Type 2 diabetic, I've been struggling to know what cook for meals, and end up cooking the same boring things, but now with SBD, the meals suit both of us (obviously, hubby isn't doing phase 1). We're both really enjoying it so far.

My only problem is breakfast ... I do like eggs, but find that after 3 days of having eggs in one form or another, I'm getting tired of them. I need to search for a few more breakfast ideas ... although I really can't face the thought of having things like left over dinner, or veggies with chicken or ham, etc, the thought of it makes my stomach turn. I guess I'm going to have to get inventive with yogurt, or cottage cheese maybe?

Anyway, I'm liking it so far and feel that it is a way of eating for life, rather than just for a short period. Can't wait to see those pounds fall off!!

Hong Kong-I like eggs too...in general...but I am so sick of eggs I could scream. I switched off of doing eggs in the morning and I think that was one of the major reasons I was constipated. I had eggs this morning again for breakfast (gagged the entire time) and I was back on schedule....as far as a BM goes. The eggs really do help but if you need a break definitely go for the other options you mentioned. I hate cottage cheese and pretty much any other kind of chese other than my colby jack and cheddar so those options are out for me. I am a verrrry picky eater.

Good luck to you though and let us know how it worked out for you with switching it up. Right now I am sticking to eggs, regardless of the fact that they make me gag, because they keep me regular and they give me a results the next morning on the scale!

Shelly, you made me laugh with that comment ... that's exactly how I felt this morning!! My other concern though, is that they actually make me more constipated (and I often have problems in that department as it is!!). Sorry, too much information! Hopefully, all the extra veggies that I'm eating will counteract the effect!!

Hello everybody. Phase 2er here, but I just wanted to say good job to all of you and keep up the good work. You'll be amazed at the end of Phase 1 when all those cravings have disappeared. For me, South Beach has been the only eating plan (I hate to call it a "diet" b/c it's more than that...it's a way of life) that has worked for me. It's easily doable, there are tons of meal options (and they're not bland and tasteless either!!!), and the results are WAY worth any mild discomfort in the first 2 weeks.

I'm proud of each and every one of you and can't wait to see you join me and the others on Phase 2 (or even Phase 3).

So last night I went to the gym which I was pretty happy about. Walked on the treadmill for 32 minutes like I planned...but somehow came out of the building feeling worse about myself than when I walked in. (I'm out of shape, I look terrible...etc.) Seriously? Who looks good after a workout? I so badly wanted an ice cream and/or Arby's afterwards.

But I didn't! And now on to day 3 of phase 1!

I'm totally not a fan of eggs either. But I made these egg muffins I've been eating every morning and they're yummy. Not too egg-y.

Sick of eggs people, I made the ricotta muffins from the recipe area that I sw some people mention last night and zapped a couple in the microwave this morning and they are delicious! I didn't have the stuff to do the savory so I just used the original recipe with a little cocoa powder (someone else suggested) and they really hit the spot. You should give them a try!

criseyde - Way to stick to the plan and not give in!

I managed to survive day 2 yesterday! I had been worried about it because I knew I had Rotary over lunch and usually whatever they serve is some form of pasta....a total no-no for phase 1. I had a snack before I went in and was just hoping that I could pick out the meat of whatever pasta they served. Boy was I glad to see they were serving salads for once!

But the salad was small. Luckily I had planned ahead enough to bring some soup with me to work on the outcome that I couldn't eat much at lunch. Problem was I went to heat up the soup and by a lucky glance happened to find...HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP on the ingredient label. GAH!!! Luckily we have a grocery store near by, so I went over and got some almonds and a low fat cheese stick.

By dinner my migraine was back and I was feeling pretty crummy, but I managed to stick to the plan and grilled 2 shishkabobs I had bought at the store that had lean beef, peppers and onions.

Feeling much better this morning, although it will be a high stress day with my grandmother having some major surgery this afternoon back home in MI. Lets hope things go well!

Looks like a lot of us are on the same day of ph1. I am on day 3 as well today. I am less hungry than usual but I still have some crazings and there has been no weight loss. I'm pretty sure it's more due to TOM coming than my diet though.

I tried a wedge of laughing cow herb and garlic cheese in my eggs today. It was pretty good, mixed it up a bit.

Museumchick -Hope the surgery goes well for your grandmother.

Day 3 phase 1. Making it slowly. Remember that if you're having the SBD flu- eat your beans! Also, look in the recipes for breakfast ideas- they're tasty.

So far- doing ok. Down a few pounds and liking it! Just gotta keep on- this is the hardest day to get through.

After a long time away, I have decided to come back to south beach because when I eat on plan I feel my very best. So I've decided to commit.

Thanks Steph! It did seem to go well. The oncologist thinks all of the cancer is confined to her uterus, which they removed. Her lymph nodes in the area were inflamed, but he said that could be a reaction to the surgery or the bowel prep before the surgery. They took them out anyway just to be safe and they are getting biopsied. We'll know next week what the results are there...hopefully they are clean and she won't need chemo.

On Day 4 today and doing well! Haven't checked the scale because I only like to do that once a week so I don't get too obsessed with it. Plus I'm getting ready to have my TOM so I'm sure I'll have some extra pounds on from that. But I definitely don't feel as bloated as I normally do.

B: Egg white omelet with LF cheese and some bacon pieces, metamucil
S: Sugar free jello cup
L: One hard boiled egg, half a red pepper with 2 wedges light laughing cow cheese
S: Ooops! I knew I forgot something while I was cleaning my old place!
D: There was a recipe here for a taco type soup. Gunna have that tonight!

Default Day 5 Phase 1

Well, I'm on day 5 and I've hopped on the scales for the 1st time (I like to weigh-in on Friday). I'm extremely happy to report that I've had a loss of ... 7.7lbs!!!! I can't tell you how good that makes me feel ... not just having such a great loss, but I actually feel really good ... no bloating, or uncomfortable feelings ... just feeling great! I've been enjoying all the great food that I've been eating (excluding the eggs!-) and I haven't felt hungry once, not once!. Even hubby gave me a compliment this morning and said I actually looked like I'd lost some weight off my belly ... I'll take any compliment thats on offer!

I now have the weekend looming, but I'm feeling so motivated right now, I don't think it's going to be a problem.

Hope you all have a good day!

Fat in Hong Kong, if you like yogurt, you might like the Fayeh (Fat free greek yogurt.) It's plain but I added cocoa with purvia (or stevia packets) to sweeten. It's makes a really good chocolate yogurt. Taste creamy (for all you creamy lovers out there) and I even put it in the freezer for a bit to get really cold. It's a cross between ice cream and a mousse. Makes a delicious dessert. Enjoy!
