Clydegirl, my daughter had her wisdom teeth out on May 18th, not all that long ago. If there is anything I can advise you on, do let me know.
On day 2, I went to a local diner and bought her favorite corn chowder. I brought it home and pureed it in my blender and she loved it. She was very tired of sweet things by then.
The next day, I made homemade cream of mushroom soup and did the same thing in the blender. She enjoyed that as well.
The first few days are the hardest.
Good luck!
It is so chilly here in NH that I have heat on and I am back to wearing long sleeves and a sweater in the house. I am changing my bed and laundering sheets today and I actually longed to put my flannel sheets back on the bed - but no! I will be summer-like soon enough? It's rainy and nasty here right now and the last thing I would want to be doing is getting in a pool. I'm jealous that you can swim for exercise. Send some summer weather of this way please!

Smile Just saying hello...

I am back to WW again and entering into my third week... happy to report I lost 8.4 pounds in the first two weeks! That is what I love about WW... when I follow the plan and don't cheat, I definitely lose weight. And I love the new plan which combines the best of core and flex. Now I just have to build up some long term perspective and endurance and stick it out through to goal and maintenance. I usually quit around 12 weeks... . Anyone here been in WW for the long haul to goal and beyond that has some endurance tips?

Thanks Linda, she has had a much better day. I made potato soup and brownies She's been able to eat today which made a big difference. She has slept a lot with the drugs, which is good.

My youngest and I went to the pool again tonight. It was so much nicer going later as you don't have that oppressive heat and humidity.

Renacer you must let us know about your decadent weekend

Sojourner, great job!
Clydegirl, glad to hear she is feeling better.

As for me, I have been planning out my day of eating and hope to stay on program today.
I was pleased to get on the scale after my anniversary weekend away and see only a .4 gain. I can deal with that.

Let's begin to talk about BBQ strategies, recipes and ideas for the 4th of July weekend.

Food

I need to confess over here as well:

Friday - Mousaka at the Grecian Festival (at least my baby and I went there walking and my husband met us there, of course baby was taking his new pushing car for a ride hehehe).
Saturday - A piece of cake at my nice birthday party.
Sunday - Father's Day and my dad's 50th birthday party and I cooked pork shoulder, rice with pegeon peas, potato salad and gratinated potatoes...Didn't eat a lot but again...CAKE!

I didn't go to my Sunday weith in but this week I am cracking the whip on myself.

My weigh-in today and I didn't get to my meeting. I think I stayed about the same as last week. My scales are always a bit off compared to the ones at WW.

Renacer I love Greek food especially mousakka. I spent a lot of time in Greece back in my younger days.

Linda flannel sheets in June that's just sad. Hope it begins to warm up for you. We have a high heat warning through Saturday. It's bad out there.

BBQ ideas. I love to make kebabs. They are low cal and I always make extra veggie kebabs. I don't deprive myself. You can get those 1 point hot dogs and buns. I buy the very low fat ground beef burgers.

Hey Ladies,

I am back. Doing well on week 2. I have had a few hiccups, but I am tracking all of them, so I guess that's what counts. I hope each of you is doing well today.

derrydaughter, I think it is great what you have done. Any loss is important. Stop worrying about that one or two people than refuses to see what you're saying. I read the post, it doesn't even make sense to me why. I do think we can watch what we say, but at the same time there will be times when you say something that it doesn't matter, someone will be ofended. Just want to throw my support your way. Thank you for being honest. I hope to show my honesty through my postings.

To everyone else have a great day!

Ash, thank you. That post/person is all water under the bridge. Maybe she was having a stressful time that we do not know about. If she is reading this, she is welcome here and to join us as we accomplish wonderful things together. This group has helped many people, including me. By the way, I will be re-starting the thread again. Perhaps later today or tomorrow morning. When I do, I'll post the link here. If it gets too long, it takes way to long to download and people have trouble if they have dial-up. So, usually when it's 10 pages or more, it is time to move it.

At any rate, I'm proud of what I have done and what I said still and I'm sorry she had a problem with it. But, I think that is her problem and not mine, maybe? I re-read my post a few times, after the fact, and I still think I said something that I could be proud of. I closed that other thread as I didn't want it to become an argument that was ongoing about the issues this woman had, whatever they were. It's over, I move on and I forgive. There is no anger. I am just wondering how we can all maybe think about some other people who have weight loss issues and their feelings. Yet, regardless of these issues, we can rejoice in what we have done. We can still feel great about what we have done and that is definitely not putting someone else down. We are all in our own place with weight loss. My last 20 pounds is the most difficult thing I have faced in my life to accomplish. My 20 is the same to me as the 200 someone else might have to lose. It is just as difficult and for me, even more difficult, as my body is so stuck. But, I can still rejoice that I have maintained and not continued to gain uncontrolled. I feel badly if someone else has so much weight to lose and looks upon my situation with disdain, but I sill rejoice. I have done something truly great for myself. I am glad to not have gained any more weight and have drawn that line in the sand with my out of control habits. Maybe we can help others who are in some kind of emotional funk with what they are doing. We need to make certain people understand that we all have different bodies. I rejoice with you all for those losses that I have not been able to acheive. I am here to learn from you and I hope you all learn from me.
I hope that made some sense.

Clydegirl, I really like the kabob suggestion, that might not be a bad 4th of July idea for some of us. I like the 1 point hot dogs and rolls too. I need to add those to the list! Kabobs always seem festive and attractive to me. They can be varying meats and even seafood and combinations of all. The veggies are good and one can make a healthy rice dish to go with them? I want my meal to be colorful and healthy but seem festive and not like I planned the entire thing for a weight loss effort. Kabobs might do the trick.

It's still overcast here after so many days of rain. I commented to my daughter that I actually couldn't remember the last time I saw the sun, but I guess it was last Friday now that I think of it. This kind of gray, damp and dismal weather can wreak havoc with me. Does it affect all of you?
I often crave "comfort" kinds of foods when I am cold and it feels so damp. But, I have tried to be resistant since coming home from my trip.
Today, I may be by myself for dinner. Husband is not home yet from NYC, one kid working and the other has plans to hang out with a college buddy. If I am on my own, I think I deserve a nice piece of fresh swordfish? We shall see.
Let's keep those 4th of July ideas coming!
Does anyone have a gelatin salad recipe that is low point? I'm craving something like that. I love the mayo based things with crunchy veggies/fruit. Though, there are some with cream cheese or something like that in them. They make excellent side dishes for a BBQ. I wonder if there is a recipe that uses lite cool whip, sugar free jello and it might be very low in points, but really tasty?

I didn't see this thread before!

Hi, I am Frances, sorta new, joined awhile back but never posted, life got in the way etc. So here I am Third time to WW, gonna do it for good this time, I know it works. I just fall off the wagon at about 6 months...seems like that is when I platuea and can't get any lbs down and I get frustrated.

Anywho I am a sahm to 2 girls and run a local playgroup and have been married 9 yrs. Hubby is also doing ww with me and both had a loss the 1st week. I am down 3.5 and he is down 3, so we are trying hard to stay on program this week and keep the momentum going.

I have cut out sweet tea and sodas for the 1st two weeks because it seems to help me out alot, but wow did I have some headaches last week. That was a first since I had done it both times prior on ww. The sweet tea has been really hard for me to get rid of....I want it, I crave it but I haven't made any so I don't get it. Sodas are easy to give up, since I only drink those on occassions when going out but usually it's tea. Sigh..... I can do this!

Anyone else suffering from intolerable heat? It's been near 100 for the last couple weeks and so humid. I want to start walking but its just to hot, even at 6 or so in the morning, just not happening! Guess I need to go dig out my watp dvds and hop to.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful day!
