Colton James is here!!! He was born August 10 at 1:30 AM. 8 lbs, 3 oz and has lots of hair. It was a long labor at over 20 hours long and 4 hours of pushing, but completely worth it. I was upset when my water broke at 37 weeks but everything went fine. He has jaundice but he's getting better every day. I'm so happy and he's just wonderful.
Laney is doing very well. Just went Wednesday to have her weighed and measured for her baby book - she's three months old tomorrow!! She's 26 inches long (27.5 if you go to the end of her toe) and 16 pounds, 4.7 ounces. Gonna be a big 'un. She's doing really well with holding her head up, and loves the jumparoo we found for her at a consignment sale last weekend. Just growing and growing!
She's got a flat spot on the back of her head though. That worries us a lot!
Kerrigan Belle was born 8/10 at 6:54 AM! She was 19.5 in and 7 lb 3 oz.
I went into my regular non-stress test on Thursday afternoon, and my BP was very high (160ish/90ish) so the doctor pretty much told me the nurse would escort me to Labor and Delivery. I was admitted to the hospital on 8/9 in the evening, 0cm and 0% effaced... they did something called a trial induction with cytotec to "ripen and soften" my cervix. First dose at 6 PM, checked me at 10 PM, I was having mildly to moderately strong contractions. Second dose at 10:30 PM, checked me at 2:30 AM, I was having consistent and moderately strong contractions, 3cm and 100% effaced. They let my contractions continue naturally and by 4 AM I was ready to call it quits LOL!!! I asked for the IV morphine around 5, and an epidural around 6... by the time the doctor came in to do the epidural, she was already crowning!!!
Kerrigan broke her own water around 630 (I told the doctor I felt like I needed to push, and she checked me and said "you're fully dilated, if you feel the need to push then go ahead!" so I did... and she was still sitting in front of me. Without her face guard on. And my water broke directly in her face. She was a good sport about it though! DH said she laughed and asked for a towel, and I saw her leave and come back in with different clothes but I was laboring and not thinking about possible reasons for wardrobe changes!) 25 minutes of pushing with my doula, my friend Jazz and my DH all at my side and my little baby arrived!!!! ;-)
She did have some issues with her bilirubin levels (jaundice) but after 2 doctors visits and sticking to a stricter feeding schedule (every 2 hrs), she is doing great! They checked us both for diabetes, she is cleared and they told me I didn't have to measure my blood sugar any more or take the medication. YIPPEEEEEE!!!!!!
I do have to stay on the blood pressure medicine though. Right before my water broke my BP was 180ish/110ish... about an hour after birth it was 140/80ish. It did fluctuate a lot while I was in the hospital though so they are keeping me on it at least for the next few weeks.
Congrats ladies, Hope the new babies are treating you well!
I had disappeared for awhile... but it seems as if everybody else has too.
Drece is already four months old. Hes 25.5 inches tall and 15 pounds even. He had his second round of shots today and is doing great. He loves to follow everyhting with his eyes and to stand up. We have started him on cereal and solids and he LOVES sweet potatoes!
As for me, i'm keeping busy with school, working out and looking for a part time job.
Spencer is growing like a weed, also LOVES standing up so much - he's starting to get frustrated that he can't stand on his own, so we'll put him down and he'll just whine until we can stand him up again.
I'm frustrated that my weight isn't budging, despite nursing and exercising 75-90 min, 5 times a week, and watching my food. No fair!!
Goodness....it stopped showing that this thread updated, so I've missed a bunch!
Congrats, Racrane and biancasimone! Beautiful little ones!
Amanda, I feel you on the weight loss. I didn't lose an ounce until I had a cycle and started birth control again. Now I'm unsteadily going down.
Workouts aren't so hot most days. I get about 20 minutes in during lunch time 3-4 days a week, and that's it. On weekends, since Laney stays in daycare Monday through Friday, I spend time with her and don't work out as much as I could. Or ever. But I'm losing slowly so that's ok.
Laney is growing HUGE. She's just over 4 months old, weighs close to 19 pounds and is 27 inches long She's long and skinny really. Fitting into 6 and 9 month clothes, depending on the maker. Most are too wide for her, but she needs the longer length. She got her first cold a week ago and is finally getting over it, but now DH and I have it. oh the joys of daycare.
She is a happy, happy baby. Until she gets tired at night, then look OUT she's a bear! But she's sleeping well. Sometimes wakes up once a night, but I can handle that. We're about to transition into no nighttime feedings, if the doctor is ok with that, so when she wakes up we'll just try to get her to sleep again without a bottle. And we'll see how that goes. She may also start rice cereal this weekend...
Her 4 month appointment and shots are tomorrow. Not looking forward to that at ALL.
