Oh my, as I was choking down plain Greek yogurt (because it's good for me), and quickly following it with Mio water to try to get rid of the taste, it suddenly occurred to me, why can't I just add Mio flavoring to the yogurt, so I did! The tanginess of strawberry watermelon Mio flavoring and the sourness of plain Greek yogurt are wonderful together and make a deliciously yummy treat!

It feels like Friday for some reason. I don't know if I'll make it to the gym tonight as I agreed to start work 2 hrs early tomorrow. I used stairs a lot today.

In other news: is this deja vue? There were 2 sheet cakes in the lounge for a retiring co-worker, same scenario that led to my slip last week. I considered calling today Carb Day so that I could eat some, but there is a dinner out on Sunday & besides I am trying to have a non sweet Carb Day. It wasn't so hard to resist, once I made the decision.

Carol Sue Yummmmm! Enjoy! Re pigeons at a bird feeder, once you have pigeons, they will polish off every morsel and bring more friends the next time. The songbirds won't come either because the pigeons are aggressive to them and much bigger. No need for your kind heart to worry about pigeons finding food--they are well-adapted to living among humans.

Chickadeee No wonder you're tired! That's great that you got a workout while doing a project--a twofer! Sorry if this is a repeat question... Is there a special way to make pizza topping dish or do you make an actual pizza & then lift off the topping?

Jacqui Getting to the gym when you don't feel is evidence of resolve--WTG! If only problem-solving led to scale whooshes--you would surely have one after getting the computer reminder figured out, not to mention the Mio/yogurt fusion. That sounds nice! My favorite Mio was Peach Mango. Congrats on getting back to pre Carb Day wt!
B avo/asparagus omelet & whey shake/cofe
L salad with avo, chicken, kidney beans, evoo
D turkey chili, grilled cabbage

I didn't have any ricotta and didn't want to go to the store so I made ravioli. Went back and changed my menu on the previous post.

In reviewing, I could have done without the potatoes and toast at breakfast. I am so accustomed to just eggs, or eggs and sausage, that I only ate the potatoes and toast because it was there. I will have to make a mental note to think about that in the future.

I saw the last of the deli turkey in the refrigerator and ate a sandwich just because I wanted it, so I did end up having lunch. I thoroughly enjoyed that.

And I enjoyed the ravioli. Yesterday I was hungry for chocolate cake and had decided to eat it today after my blood work. For some reason, I always seem to have a mini binge after I get my blood work done. I need to get back down to business tomorrow.

Chickadeee, we used to live in a one floor house with no basement. When we moved into our current house with a basement I went up and down the steps so many times on moving day that I had to take the next day off because my legs hurt so bad. And I was only 35 back then. LOL Stairs are certainly a good workout!

Jacqui, the Mio in yogurt is a great idea. I used to stir in some sugar free strawberry jam sometimes.

Carol Sue Did you get the treadmill? It sounds nice! Your Carb Day sounds like the way it's intended, to stoke the furnace and loosen up the diet leash. I'm aiming for that kind of Carb Day, without going off the deep end.

Mars, great job on not eating the sheet cake!!! That had to not be easy but you did it! Now you'll be able to enjoy your planned Carb Day on Sunday!

Carol Sue, your Carb Day sounds like it was wonderful! There is nothing wrong with going with an impromptu Carb Day as long as we stick to only one Carb Day a week with 5 slow-carb days in between! I'm glad you made a good day of your Carb Day today!

Re standing up, I had a fitness trainer once who told me that if I were to commit to just one daily exercise, the best would be getting up and down from a chair, in the morning. Well, the actual form is a little different so that the knees on'tget strained, but that's the basic idea. If I do even a few reps, my heart rate gets going.

Scale is the same, 168, a reminder that today is NOT Carb Day!
B Omelet with onion, avo, sauerkraut, whey shake
L salad, avo, beans, chicken, evoo
D turkey chili, shredded cabbage, evoo
S whey shake & vegs

Mars, interesting your trainer said that. I've read it in a few different places now. There must be something to it. It really is surprising how much more I move during the day just by standing up every 15 minutes! I don't walk or stretch or anything. I just pop up and immediately sit back down and yet I think it does make a difference. My cats, who like to sit on my lap, however, are not amused!

Thanks Mars! I am doing better with the 5-HTP. I'm still trying to figure out the best time to take it at night, how much time before I fall asleep. I have noticed if I get sleepy once I've taken it, I need to go ahead and go to bed. If I fight it and try to stay up longer, I have a harder time falling asleep. It's a little tricky!

Before I post anything, I want to say that my PC was acting up again this morning so if I disappear, that's why.

Jacqui, congratulations on the pink cheerleaders! They are so cute! I fully understand that I am to have at least 5 slow-carb days between carb days. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. Unfortunately, a bit of fast carbs are sneaking in on my slow carb days, and the proof is showing up on the scale and my glucose meter. I'm working on that.

Mars, I don't know how old you are, but this morning I saw a post that you might be able to comment on.

http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/age-50/304774-new.html

I have been reading a book called Fat Chance and this morning I was reading the chapters about exercise and it said that you need to exercise consistantly, even if it's only 15 minutes a day. The benefits start to decline after 24 hours, and after 15 days any benefit you gained from exercise is GONE.

By the way, I got on the scale this morning, AFTER eating breakfast, and my weight did NOT go up from Carb Day. Yay! (I think) Sometimes you don't get the weight gain until the second day, but if I keep calories low enough today that might not happen.

Carol Sue, yay on the scale not going up after Carb Day! : And thank you. Pink cheerleaders are a good thing! That info on exercise from the book you're reading sounds fascinating! Wow! Do they have studies to back that up?

Thanks for the link with a question re IP Carol Sue. (Btw, I just got my national parks senior pass last month--I'm 62 ) Hang in there with making changes even if you aren't perfect. None of us are.

Jacqui The 5HTP sounds very promising.I'll bet you will be able to pinpoint the best time to take it.

Chickadee I hope your legs have recovered from the stair marathon!

I had a long work shift and didn't quite pack enough food. I could tell by the ragged feeling I had at the end of the day. I felt mentally sluggish too. I might need to add more slow carbs ongoing. But I made the decision to have a piece of cheese pizza--just the topping. Kind of a rescue carb. I hope I'm not deluding myself. Other than that, eating went as planned and my phone says I did 8194 steps, with some stairs in the mix.
