Welcome to all the new BFC peeps! Love seeing some new faces...
Kneed2loose??? call the boyfriend and say no to the cupcakes... They will sabatoge all the good work of staying on plan and get you nothing but more weight!! OR JUST DO NOT OPEN THEM AND TAKE THEM TO WORK TO SHARE--again do not even look at them!! (sorry to sound harsh but success takes hard work)
Annabananna- I have only been doing the BFC since January- but I have lost 17 lbs to date.. In the beginning it was painfully slow coming off (.5 per week--while Jorge seemed to say it would be faster) but now I have been steady loosing 2lbs per week--
Not exactly long term but 4 months.
I have to say that I am not big at looking at the types of sugars in foods.. I feel I am doing good if I can stay on track with the amounts. I did buy truvia to get off my coffee and splenda habit.. And I do not drink diet soda as a rule anyway so no problem there. I was really ok with cutting the sugar out after about a week and a half. I have to say that I can now taste sweetness in onions and when I do get a craving I have a blackberry.
As far as bread I love the deli thins I think both pepridge farms and Arnolds makes similar ones.. they are great with burgers and sandwiches.
Pilsbury Croisant rolls are good for baking as a wrap around things (although I don't know what kind of sugar is in them)
Personally I do not use any of Jorge's recipes and I have not bought any specialty products (aside from flax seed meal which I used once and didn't like). I just eat foods that are naturally low in sugar and I don't eat anything with artificial sweeteners, sugar alcohols or not. I did switch to a lower-sugar pasta sauce for when I make pizzas, but it was a normal grocery store item.
The most difficult aspect of the diet at first for me was reducing the portion sizes I could eat of grains that I had been eating previously, like pasta. Eventually I just stopped eating it because I'd rather "spend" my carbs on fruits and vegetables. The only grain items I eat now are low-carb tortillas and oatmeal. It was also difficult at first to get enough fiber but I now depend on a few staple foods and recipes - low-carb tortillas, avocados, split pea soup (homemade), chili (homemade), berries, spinach, black beans, etc.
Txalupa - thank you so much for sharing your photos!!! Your excellent hard work has sure paid off. Now we can see that it is possible for us. You are beautiful in all of your photos!
Thanks so much for the tips and encouragement. I did find sugar free amp which does not have any of the sugar substitute demons. It also seems to have some good additives. I usually limit myself to one or two caffeinated beverages. This week I had gained .8 lbs after losing about 2 last week. Oh the tragedy of the 50+ year old metabolism. You guys are great!

I thought you girls might appreciate this article in the NYT this week. It's Taubes on sugar and makes me feel very good (if cautious) for staying under 15 g/day.
Hi folks. I have been doing the Belly Fat Cure since Monday, January 31. I have lost 38 pounds in 11 weeks and am thrilled with the results. It is very easy to stick to and I love not having to measure and count everything. I joined this forum today because I finally found people who were discussing this plan.
ok, Day 1 for me. I still have some groceries to get but im sure i will survive until i can get to the store. So far I had, 2 cups of puffed wheat with unsweetened almond milk and a string cheese and coffee with half anf half and a truvie packet. I had truvia in the cereal also. im hoping to wean myself off so much truvia in the coming weeks which im sure i will be able to do. i dont know how i will be able to do 6 servings of carbs today so im a little worried. I didnt have low carb pita or english muffins. i had regular wheat bread and 2 slice is 2 servings. yikes!! but i will prevail i have plenty of cheese to get me through. i just want to get through this week while keeping my sanity then i know i will be able to continue. wish me luck!
Welcome, New Gals!!! This is a really great group - hope you enjoy it here and have great success.
Today is my weekly weigh in and I am down 0.8 pounds. I will totally take it since I didn't really keep track of my eating last week. I had the tummy flu and so did husband and kids and we were just keeping it simple with the simple carbs and crackers. Although the weight loss wasn't huge, I am really starting to see some changes in my body. The false belly fat is leaving - bye bye! I feel like my profile looks smaller too! So excited about that since it had seemed like nothing was changing! I wish I had taken better measurements in the beginning so I knew how the inches are actually coming off. Oh well, I can take good measurements now and go forward. Have a great week, girlies! It has rained for so long here and today the sun is out and it feels so good!
Like ERHR said I too pretty much eat normal foods. But am not good at always identifying the bad sugars vs the good ones.
I have found what "works" for me is to choose either lunch or dinner for "carb time" but not try and spread them evenly. I have one carb for breakfast which is usually either a bagel thin or Deli flat (to make egg sandwhich) and then the rest of the carbs I try to use for a veggie or potatoe. I love having hamburgers and tator tots for dinner.
Because I am not just cooking for me I am always trying to make our normal meals fit within my guidelines. I found out the other night that I could eat one pilsbury biscuit--that made hubby happy as he thinks fried chicken and biscuits is a must once a week.
I gotta say that I am craving pizza this week. And will have to work on incorporating that. I did find that the spagehtti sauce we had (Vodka Sauce from Costco) only had a couple of grams of sugar in it which surprised me. So maybe I could use that as sauce.
