@flabsofsteel:

If you eat 4 tbsp of pb at once, I would count it as 1 serving of carbs. If you eat it in two sittings, I would count them as two. Don't let the nutrition information dictate your "serving size" but rather recalculate for yourself and compare to Jorge's ranges.

I eat 4-8 small meals/snacks per day; I don't think there are any suggestions in the BFC about the number of times to eat per day as long as you are following the sugar and carb limits per meal.

Many times for lunch I eat what would be the inside of a sandwich only without the bread, such as egg salad or tuna fish. I also construct wraps that contain avocado, tomato, and bacon or pork perhaps with some fatty salad dressing or salsa.

I mostly snack on cheese, nuts, peanut butter, eggs, and berries.

I mainly eat and snack on the same things ERHR suggested. And she has good results so why not?

But one of my very favorite snacks is the 85% dark chocolate!!! 2 squares is a quick fix for this chocoholic!!!

I have found that you need to think outside of the box alittle when it comes to what you eat when. My snacks and lunches are kinda interchangable-- but foods I have come to rely upon:

Pepporoni
String Cheese
Walnuts
Black olives
Slices of Chicken breast
Slices of steak
Hard boiled eggs
Egg Salad
Tuna Salad
Chicken Salad
Lunch meat
Grilled Cheese
Hamburgers on Deli flats

the egg, tuna and chicken salad can be from a bowl, on deli flats or in a wrap or used as a dip with crackers.

Thank you for the replies.

My first week I was down .8 and this week .6. It's a little disappointing since I've been really sticking to the plan without any deviation ALL WEEK! I also ran 3 times this week (1st=2miles, walked .5.... 2nd=3miles, walked .5---3rd=3.25, walked .5)

Any tips?

I have not been going over in any area.

Monday was 13/6
Tuesday was 6/5
Wednesday was 9/6
Thursday was 9/5
Friday was 6/4

Within the first two days I lost 1.5 pounds but now I gained it back even though I'm following the plan.I think I may need more fiber.Anyone have ideas for high fiber items?I'm thinking of trying high fiber tortillas but I'm not sure what else.

I'm having a really hard time understanding how to turn this into a way of life, rather than a short-term diet.

Can I never eat another cannoli? Some were brought over from the Italian bakery that I have always loved.

I went to a child's birthday party yesterday and there were cupcakes, cheesecake, delicious looking chocolate and vanilla cake with fluffy frosting, M&M cookies, fruit salad, etc. and I couldn't have any? How can I live this way??

I love to cook and bake, and I'm having a really hard time with this because I feel like I can't bake all of the things I love because really, what's the point if you can't eat it?

I have cinnamon raisin bagels here for my son... too much sugar and carbs for this diet.

How do you resist a few slices of crispy Italian bread?

What about my famous rainbow cookies that I make every holiday? My chewy chocolate chip cookies? My gooey s'more brownies? My banana split cupcakes? There just aren't good enough substitutes for all of these things!

Hello all,
I've been a bit out of touch. My computer died Monday, and I was very disconcerted all week, and frustrated dealing with the computer biz, as I teach online and MUST use a computer. I also had a term paper due Thursday morn, and stayed up all night writing it on an awkward alternative computer. The week was also not kind to my diet, for I wasn't able to watch what I eat as carefully.

To elledoll2 and flabsofsteel: we understand your frustration.

This is a diet that shows more NSV (Non-Scale-Victories) to many of us, like losing inches and having our clothes feel looser, more than scale weight.

It takes awhile to adjust and not crave sweets, but the craving does lessen a lot. I love sweets, but I've been OK on this diet. I've focused instead on other things I like that are almost forbidden on low-cal diets, like butter, cheese, olives, guacamole, nuts, sausage... I probably crave a nice non whole-wheat bread more than actual sweets. I found a really nice whole-grain farmer's bread that I like a lot.
As for missing all the sweet baked goods, remember that sugar and refined grains are the cause of many health problems, including diabetes and inflammation related conditions, such as heart problems. So while we are on this diet, at least we are not eating in that unhealthy way.

I'm beginning to think that my body thinks I'm on some kind of maintenance, because while I've hardly lost any weight, I've lost inches, but things aren't changing as fast as I would like. I'm going to try tweaking this program keeping the 15/6 count but following certain guidelines of the Six Week Body Makeover, which is eating mini-meals every three hours. There is no wheat or bread allowed but the program worked well for me before, so it might shock my system into reacting.

Another wheat-free bread-free program that worked for me was The Core Balance Diet, which can require more food preparation. It is also controlled carb, not low fat, lots veggies, and some fruit, but very little grain.

Happy Monday!

ive fallen off the wagon - bad...ive come to realize im addicted to dieting...i always have to try the new pill or new eating plan - i snapped....i feel so controlled by this addiction...i stopped this program - well thats a lie - i still follow...eat burgers without both slices of the bun and i still follow alot of his rules. but im eating foods i want...i want to be normal. i want to just live my life. i dont want to count anything anymore - i just want to stop obsessing over...is that bad? im completely out of touch with life. does anyone else have this problem? I mean , i know what foods are good because of Jorge's book and he makes good points. but I feel like I can go off on my own while keeping his ideas in the back of my mind...like, no more low fat because there is so much sugar. and I went back to regular milk...almond milk is just gross to me. it sucks but in order to follow this plan to a T i have to force myself to eat and drink things I just dont like. I do look at labels but now i look for the carbs and sugar and not the calories and fat....i feel like there is something wrong with me because i dont want to "diet" anymore...

Default question on going slightly above 15 g sugar level

I have found it pretty hard to keep the 15g sugar level especially because I travel a lot on business. I cannot take any food bars no matter how raw or organic they are as a quick snack because most of them have 15g or more sugar in just one single bar.

My question is simple - has anyone experienced weight loss if you go above 15 g but still keep it relatively modest such as 25-30 g sugar or less? Even if you have not done so, what do you think of my plan of this modified diet? Granted, I may not lose weight as significantly but will I still lose some weight and is it just a matter of taking more time? Or will I continue t gain weight because I have violated the holy grail threshold of 15 g?

Any inputs would be greatly appreciated!
