Hello all,
I've been a bit out of touch. My computer died Monday, and I was very disconcerted all week, and frustrated dealing with the computer biz, as I teach online and MUST use a computer. I also had a term paper due Thursday morn, and stayed up all night writing it on an awkward alternative computer. The week was also not kind to my diet, for I wasn't able to watch what I eat as carefully.
To
elledoll2 and
flabsofsteel: we understand your frustration.
This is a diet that shows more NSV (Non-Scale-Victories) to many of us, like losing inches and having our clothes feel looser, more than scale weight.
It takes awhile to adjust and not crave sweets, but the craving does lessen a lot. I love sweets, but I've been OK on this diet. I've focused instead on other things I like that are almost forbidden on low-cal diets, like butter, cheese, olives, guacamole, nuts, sausage... I probably crave a nice non whole-wheat bread more than actual sweets. I found a really nice whole-grain farmer's bread that I like a lot.
As for missing all the sweet baked goods, remember that sugar and refined grains are the cause of many health problems, including diabetes and inflammation related conditions, such as heart problems. So while we are on this diet, at least we are not eating in
that unhealthy way.
I'm beginning to think that my body thinks I'm on some kind of maintenance, because while I've hardly lost any weight, I've lost inches, but things aren't changing as fast as I would like. I'm going to try tweaking this program keeping the 15/6 count but following certain guidelines of the
Six Week Body Makeover, which is eating mini-meals every three hours. There is no wheat or bread allowed

but the program worked well for me before, so it might shock my system into reacting.
Another wheat-free bread-free program that worked for me was
The Core Balance Diet, which can require more food preparation. It is also controlled carb, not low fat, lots veggies, and some fruit, but very little grain.
Happy Monday!
