Stopping by for a quick rant only because it JUST happened to me:

Lady who called me now with the wrong number... when I say "I'm sorry, I think you have the wrong number" You say "Oh I'm sorry about that!" and then you can hang up. YOU DO NOT JUST HANG UP ON ME! Lots of curse words at you lady... LOTS of curse words.

/end rant

Faerie -- yep, there are a lot of rude folks out there. OR, perhaps the caller didn't speak english, and didn't know what to say...who knows. As for your grocery store walk, I know what you mean about how good that feels. I've been trying to walk more to conserve gas, and it feels so good to leave the car at home! But yeah, not that fun to lug all those groceries home...

Institches -- thanks for the encouragement! And have fun cleaning

Vday -- don't know if you saw my posts from the past week, but I definitely let the binge monster in. As a matter of fact, I flung open the door, had him sit down at my kitchen table, and made him a pot of tea. I invited him to stay overnight. I tried to get to know him for who he REALLY was, but in order to do that, I had to spend some serious time with him. He left when he was good and ready, but to tell you the truth, I think he was uncomfortable with how nosy I was with him, asking him questions, observing his every move. Now that he's gone, I'm trying to ring up my buddy Forgiveness, who is always so hard to get in touch with after BingeMonster has left. I could use a good sit-down with Forgiveness today. Sadly, I can see Regret knocking at my window, instead, and I really don't feel like looking at him! Anyway, good luck dealing with BingeMonster however best suits you!

Chey -- Happy Grandbaby!!! So fun!! As for the cleaning, I TOTALLY hear you, i am overwhelmed by the mess that my house is, and I can't help but think that part of why I turned to food last week was because I just couldn't deal with cleaning up!! So today, I'm just trying to complete small tasks, one thing at a time...

Jaime/Faerie -- what's blueland? can i see jaimes pictures??

-------------------------------------

As for me, I'm starting off my day with a hardboiled egg, an english muffin, and 2 clementines. My strategy for the next few days is to concentrate on getting in 6 servings of fruits/veggies, which will hopefully leave less space for nasty carbs. My challenge for the day is that I'm going with John to a concert tonight, where he is "tabling" for the company he works for, which means there'll be lots of beer and fried things.

Right now, my kitten is totally terrorizing the household. The poor older cat! Now that the little one is getting almost full sized, the older one has to really work to escape her. I never thought I'd build a tolerance to the sound of hissing cats...

Well now, you girls have been busy in my absence! I promise to try my darndest to catch up....

Lets see...

Jaime: you have pics somewhere? Please share! I would love to see them! Good for you on the biking. I think it's awesome when you can incorporate it into your daily routine. We've had some bad storms here that have made me run for cover like that, but it was a few years ago- thank God!

Vday: I've been trying to ward off the binge monster this week too! I've found that where others tend to get ravenous right before TOM, I get it 2 weeks prior to TOM. Weird. Good luck with being strong!

Chey: Congrats on the grandbaby! I absolutely love that name!!!!!

Faerie: YAY!!!!! On the weight loss!!! And check you out...walking to the store AND carrying groceries home! You go girl!!!

Okay, I know I'm forgetting people but I've got to get in the shower while my washer is stopped. So, to everyone else for now.

RE: the fragrances, my favorite is Obsession, but I buy the Walmart brand "Confess." I too, love the Warm Vanilla Sugar scent at Bath & Body.

Dance class on Thursday night was good, but a bit on the boring side. Each song played in that 3 hr time frame has it's own song. We know lots of line dances. I taught while my teacher was in Florida over the winter, but she's back now. We need to jazz it up a bit. Somehow

I'm going to tour a huge horse farm with my riding club this afternoon, so I'd better get to moving. Tomorrow we're driving to our hometown and taking Mom on the casino boat for Mother's Day (she has MS and is pretty incapacitated in a wheelchair, but she loves going to the gambling boat. I help push the buttons for her. )

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Chey - What a beautiful name that is I know what you mean about being organized and feeling better. I'm about to get some stuff done today... being surrounded by mess isn't conducive to me getting things done >_<

Vday - Stay strong, hun! You know this case of the 'bingies' will pass. Stress doesn't help anything I used to wear Strawberries & Champagne years & years ago I thought it smelled great, too ^^

Institches - You've been busy! With good things, though! Best of luck on handing in that resume for the 1st shift

Lizzy - Saving gas is one of the reasons I decided to walk to the store, yeah. I'm glad I live close enough... and I can do the same when I live at my parents' home. They live close to a store, too. No excuses! "Blueland" was my way of saying Blue Team chat over on The Biggest Loser Challenge area. Suite's got some gorgeous pictures up: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?t=141903 I think they're on pages 8,9 or 10 or something around there.

---

So then...

Applied for my passport

I did not get the chance to walk to the post office, because I forgot my forms that I had printed out at work... so I had to print them out at home and then fill them out and all that nonsense. Though, everything went off without a hitch.

However, after I finished at the post office I drove to a small park about a block from there and walked for an hour and fifteen minutes It's just a half mile track, so I must've walked it 7 times.

It was simply magical out today. The sun was shining, the wind blowing, the dandelions were all over the fields. (Why are they called weeds? I think they're beautiful ) It just felt good to be out moving and smiling at the people I passed along the way.

I've been feeling very lucky lately. I think it's because I'm purposely thinking of all the lucky things that have happened. But, this morning when I realized I didn't have the passport papers with me and would have to print new ones, I simply thought "Hrm. Well, I guess I'll have to make my own luck today." And I actually felt lucky about it. I think a positive attitude is a lucky charm most days.

I'm going to get myself a delicious and enjoyable lunch. I hope you all have productive and wonderful Saturdays

Kim - Hey there posting buddy (we posted at about the same time! ) You actually reminded me by saying "wal-mart" that I need to head out there today! Have a great time at the horse farm! And your mother's day sounds fantastic.

Shrinking: Great analogy on the binge monster! Your replacing carb strategy sounds good! I did that for a week when I lost 3.8 pounds! I have definitely been eating too many carbs and too much sugar as well due to stress!

Faerie: Awww you're so positive! That's awesome that you have such a positive attitude and lookout on life!

Paint: That is really nice for mother's day! My mom lives 3 states away and I don't talk to her much. I was going to get her a card, but we didn't really have time! That probably sounds really bad! I will call her though...

~Well as for me, I committed to only eating 2 servings of dessert this week, and today I had my 4th serving! I blame stress! We looked at apartments for 4 hours today! We actually only physically looked at 4, the rest of the time was spent looking for FOR RENT signs. The only 2 we definitely liked are giving us crap about having a cosigner. Not very student friendly. One of them completely turned us down, and we are waiting to see what the other one will say.

Other than that, I did have a gain on the scale of 2.2 pounds. However, I am not going to count it until Monday because I ate a LOT of 0 point veggie soup 2 days ago, and that had veggie broth which is VERY high in sodium. I also ate curry yesterday which had a lot of sodium as well. SO if I am still high on Monday, I will count it as a gain. Just seeing a higher number on the scale tends to depress me and make me want to just say "screw it all!" and eat worse foods. I need to stop doing that. I need to focus on feeling healthier and not what the scale says.

Well that is all for me! It is hot over here! Hopefully they clean the pools soon so I can go swim!

Vday - I'm sorry you're having such stress with finding a new place Definitely wait until Monday to see what's going on with the scale. And make sure to drink enough water to help get rid of the extra sodium in your system!

I leave far too long between posts!!

Manick - My friend's grandma has a house just outside Girona, I don't exactly remember what the town is called, but apparently it is very small but right on the beach. I am so excited to finally see another country. Cardona sounds beautiful - I have a thing for castles! We are there for 10 days, so we'll be doing some day trips and I will look to see how far away it is from us as it sounds like a place I'd love to visit! Your new car is lovely! I love the colour of it. I have nailpolish in that colour It's called "brocade frost". I only remember that because I thought the name was so cool

MystTrisha - Welcome to the board!!

Heather - I completely agree with what you have said. A lot of people place their self-worth on how much they weigh, and I know I sometimes did as well. It seems to be a consequence of society and media and even of our own "mental training" through friends or family members and their comments. Thank you for posting that and making us think about it. I hadn't really thought about how my opinion of myself changed, but I realize now that it really has, not because I am losing weight, but because I am beginning to make smart choices and value my health and well-being. I have not suddenly made new friends by dropping a dress size - there is much more to all of us than what we weigh!

Suite - My degree is three years, actually, and yes, I am here for all 3 I was accepted to St. Andrews in Scotland and, having a predominantly Scottish family (ahem, very very Scottish), they were all rooting for that school but it was an extra year of study and that meant an extra year of international tuition! So I came down here instead This month's WW magazine isn't too bad, I like some of the recipes but a lot of them involve ingredients I could never justify buying for just me. Compared to the trashy magazines my housemates come home with, I think the WW magazine has some really good stuff in it. It's quite inspiring to see/read some of the weight-loss stories in it. But, as you said, a lot of it is really old news so it's sort of a hit or miss. I hope having a scale this time is a better experience for you! I'm sure it will be, now that you have settled more into your routine. It's not a bad little tool to have around if it doesn't start taking over your life!! We have quite a few thunderstorms in Calgary in the summer and a few years ago lightning struck our house! Thankfully it didn't do any damage, but it was one of the freakiest things ever. I could feel the house vibrating under my feet. Argh, sometimes I just hate those weathermen. They are rarely right!

Paint - I keep meaning to ask you about the horse in your avatar. He/She is beautiful, I love their face. What is their name? I have a Thoroughbred gelding named Raz, who is being leased out while I am at university and is doing so amazingly that I don't think he'll want me back!, and a liver chestnut QH gelding named Freckles. He used to cattle pen, but he had his shoulder injured in a fight with another horse (he's not the type that gets along with everybody) where the other horse literally fell on top of his leg or something, and it was left for a year untreated while he was still penning. Needless to say, even though he spent another year in recovery, he is really stiff and can only be used to fun riding now, which is exactly what I wanted as Raz is a horse that needs to constantly be worked and Freckles can't take more than a few hours a week. My mom and I also have two miniature geldings. My mom's is pictured in my avatar, his name is Leo, and I have a silver dapple bay named Geronimo (Mo for short). Sorry for the essay, I love talking about my horses! Please tell me about yours! Did you say you have two, or four?

Chey - Congrats on your new granddaughter!! You must be so excited!

Faerie - Congratulations on your loss this week!! Your work doesn't sound like anyone would enjoy it. Well done on walking to the grocery store and back with your groceries! I find the bags cut into my hands really badly when I do that, lol. Since I don't have a car and have to walk to the store often, I have one of those big reusable bags with the woven handle (mine is from Sainsbury's, I'm sure you can get one from wherever you shop) and it doesn't leave grooves in my fingers! I also carry groceries over my shoulder in my school bag after leaving all my school stuff at home. If you are going to be making this a regular thing (since it's such great exercise) I definitely recommend one of those bags with a better handle! That wrong number thing happened to us once too... a little old lady who didn't speak English called our house TWICE at two o'clock in the morning, and both times my mom told her she had the wrong number but then she tried it again. It's not like it was mid-afternoon... the phone ringing woke all of us in the whole house up and we thought it must be something terrible because no one calls us that late. Some people are just so rude, like the person that phoned you. They could have at least been polite about it!

vday - Keep fighting that awful binge monster! You can do it! Don't worry about your gain, I am sure a lot of it is related to sodium. It can really do a number on you, can't it?

Institches - You sound mighty busy. Hope it all goes well! I'm not sure I could handle Core myself... I generally eat whole wheat things anyway, but I'm not sure I could do the whole 'eat until you're full' thing... I have a feeling that I would just keep eating if I was allowed to! Are you coming back to Flex now and keeping the principles of Core?

Shrink - Hi! Hope you're doing okay! Good luck for your 5K!

------

I really need to get back here and post more often! I come by and read a lot of what you all have written but a lot of times I don't get around to actually posting a response. This took me almost half an hour! lol Not that I didn't welcome the break. I am now 2/4 essays done, just have to finish up my references on the first two, and I have a week to do one more, and then a week after that to do the other. I am actually really enjoying one of my essays. I am comparing Raymond Chandler's "The Big Sleep" to the film with Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall and examining America's situation at the time, how it was presented in the book vs. the movie. I looove Humphrey Bogart. He is awesome.

Not much happening here, except that it's still really hot but kind of overcast, so it's the sort of heat that sticks to you and feels really muggy. I love that the weather has made a turn for the better, I am certainly not complaining about that, but I find it difficult to sleep when it's this warm. I tossed and turned all night! I will be having a cappuccino in about an hour to keep me going.

If I missed anyone, hope you are all doing well! : I don't see myself having too many obstacles this week but I am going to London on Wednesday with one of my housemates and we'll be eating dinner out. I will just have to make sure I get something good and not a cheeseburger - speaking of which, I have not had a cheeseburger since January! Wow, I hadn't thought of that until now!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!! I will try my best to post more often!

Faerie - Oh man, I've totally hung up on people when I get the wrong number. But that was when I was calling Brazil when DH was spending time there with his family - if he didn't answer I just had NO idea what to say so I'd just hang up! I always felt very, very guilty about it afterwards. It sounds like you had a wonderful Saturday, and I agree about the dandelions - I think they're great! On two levels, too - they're pretty to look at, then when they die they don't just wilt away, they become little puff balls that are fun to play with Way to go with all the walking!

Sonja - Good to see you back! I enjoyed your little houseguest analogy in your note to vday. How'd the concert/beer/fried things trial go? As for the biking solution, yeah, kinda silly I didn't just bring the thing along to work anyway, huh? I was just so trusting that the weatherman would be correct... no longer! How'd your 5k go today?

Chey - That's a beautiful name! Congrats again, what a nice mother's day present As for the bike seat, do you have one that's specifically made for a woman? The seat on my bike is nice and wide, it's a "woman-specific design," so it doesn't hurt my rear so much!

Kim - I hope you have fun with your mother today!

vady - what's that analogy kaplods brought up? if you're in a car and get one flat tire, do you go slash the other three out of frustration, or do you fix the flat? I think that's very appropriate to keep in mind. 4 servings of dessert items still isn't bad for a week, don't be too hard on yourself.

free - Ah, I thought you were doing a study abroad/exchange kind of thing, but you're there for the whole time! And whoa, lightning struck your house?? That's crazy! Lightning is just one of those things that freaks me out - something about the unbridled power of nature... Congrats on getting two of your essays done!

Institches - Aww, your kids are so sweet. I hope you have a good day

Manick - Thanks for the artichoke info! You definitely made me want to go try them again

Photos - Heck, I'll just repost the two that I had over in the Blue Team chat thread I'd imagine the massive thread Faerie's link points to is a little intimidating!

So here's the first married kiss one...

This one is showing off my beautiful cake and my wonderful sunburn. (Don't go for a noon wedding at the end of June if you're not going to remember sunblock!)

I love looking at my wedding photos, so I sure don't mind sharing them!

Yesterday I went to a mall in Richmond with my friend who's leaving for good next weekend. The weather was just terrible, but it was nice to walk around and be amongst people. Eating was off, but within my tolerance for "off" -- I by no means made poor choices, I did the best with what I was given, so that's good. I still have to sit down and figure out exactly how many FPs I used.

Had a tiny gain yesterday at the meeting... came home and kind of lost it. I'm usually just fine when I see little gains, especially when I know they are directly attributable to my eating that week... But I don't know, we were just talking about really (imho) dumb topics, and one girl got her 16-week thing and had lost 30lbs in 16 weeks... I'm sitting at just about half of that and I guess I finally let it get to me. But I'm okay again this morning, I'm not giving up, I promise!

Now the rest of the day is for working... Boo... Have a good Mother's Day everyone!

VDay -- good luck with your weigh-in tomorrow. I hope you're doing OK, I know I'm still struggling, but hopefully we can stay on plan more days than not!

Freedom -- ooh, cheeseburger, ahem, make that BACON cheeseburgers, are definitely my downfall! I crave them once a month (can you guess when?), and typically give in...good luck with your London dinner! I always have such a hard time with going out to eat...

Stitches -- happy mothers day! thanks for the well wishes!

Faerie -- happy mother's day to you, too!

Jaime -- thank you so much for sharing your pictures! You are so lovely! And I love love the dress! By the way, I did indeed go to the TBL thread, and was SO confused by that one reference to your pics that went up BEFORE your actual pics -- I got to that post and went back again, and looked through them again, 2 or 3 times before I decided to just keep looking further, and then saw it all explained! Very funny stuff. I was really intent on checking out your wedding dress!! As for the weigh-in, your frustration is understandable, but I like you saying that you're not going to give up!! I depend on you being on these boards, so you can't give up!

----------------------------------------------

Well, last night at the concert, I drank beer, too much beer, and didn't eat anything, but then John and I went to a restaurant and got sandwiches. I had the presence of mind not to eat the whole thing, just half and took half home, but I smoked a lot of cigarettes, too, and generally feel in poor, poor shape the past week. So then I go to bed, and wake up at around 4:30 am because my heart was pounding. It kept on pounding for about 2 hours, keeping me awake and scaring the SH*T out of me! I finally got up and drank some orange juice (somehow that seemed appropriate) and then got on the couch and watched Law and Order. After about a half hour, my heart stopped pounding, and I got back to sleep.
And can you believe it, I still managed to get to the 5K this morning! Didn't do too well, but it was a beautiful day, and considering I haven't jogged for about 2 weeks, and haven't done any exercise in the past week, I'm just proud of myself that I got my booty there and finished the race.
But, more importantly, does anyone know what's up with the pounding/racing heart? I just had a physical, and my blood pressure was A-OK. Not really sure what to make of this, except that maybe it's from all the smoking? Pretty scary stuff. Hoping it's enough to scare me back to healthy habits.

Freedom: mmmm cappucino...I only slept 6 hours last night because we were out until around 230 and we had to go see an apartment at 10 am...so I am making coffee right now!

Suite: oh my gosh! soooooo pretty! Your DH is really cute too!

Shrinking: Don't feel bad girl, I had 3 mixed drinks last night. One of them was 3 shots of vodka and a tiny bit of cranberry juice for only $2.50! But yeah, I drank 3 mixed drinks and I spent 25 dollars!!! Oh and as for the heart pounding thing, are you on birth control? Well I am, and that happened to me once when I smoked 4 cigarettes before I went to bed (I was drunk as well). I woke up in the middle of the night with my heart pounding fast and HARD like I just worked out or something. Definitely pretty scary, I haven't smoked one since.

~~Well, not much to report here. Just wanted to say hi to everyone! I am reallly tired...we went and looked at a place today that we both REALLY liked, so I hope we get it!

vday -- um, 3 mixed drinks for 25 dollars seems pretty good, right? where in cali are you looking for apts? and, as for the bc, i am not on anything, so i don't think thats it. Thanks for the thought, though. I wish that were it! But yeah, that's what it felt like, as if I had just worked out, except it was ONLY my heart. Like, I was breathing fine and everything else felt fine. SO weird.
