Way to Go Connie. What is Metaquick? Is that more shakes instead of food? Don't know yet because they haven't suggested it.

Happy Birthday!

Congrats on all the other losses out there. Today I head off for vacation to Sunriver, Oregon with my extended family. Lots of eating, but my bag is packed with all my supp., drinks, and bars. I know I can do it. I also know I won't be perfect but I plan on working walking, biking, and swimming like crazy to make up for it. :)

ConnieInColorado 08-14-2011 11:00 AM

You can do it Brandy! Just let everyone know that you are close to your goal and you don't want to blow it. Enjoy your vacation.

MetaQuick is the meal replacement shake and/or bar for breakfast and lunch (w/HNS) and then the reg dinner menu. The consultants hadn't recommended it yet, but I had 2 or more weeks of the scale going up and then down. For me, it was more of needing a psychological boost because I was getting very frustrated. I found MQ to be a little tough and I'm glad I did it on extremely busy days, so I wasn't constantly thinking about how hungry I was.

ginpea 08-14-2011 12:01 PM

Happy Birthday Connie!

LetHerOut 08-14-2011 12:40 PM

Happy birthday, Connie! And congrats on 22 pounds! I'm glad MQ got you the results you needed to see! I definitely understand that brand of frustration.

That is a link to the commonly used acronyms. OP= on program

As for the tracker if I remember correctly (IIRC) you have to be here for 20 days and have a certain number of legit posts.

HTH (hope this helps)

Happy Monday, Everyone :)
I went camping with friends this weekend and managed to stay on plan. I didn't have a scale, but am pretty good at estimating amounts, and just stuck with the basics...lots of protein, salad and the alotted fruit and carb.. Saying no thanks to Margaritas wasn't easy, but I just told myself not an option and didn't dwell on it. I am so happy not to be living in the deep dark Cavern of Regret .
I skipped the scale last week, anticipating a plateau...and yup...it's here...I weighed today and no movement one way or the other. I do notice a big difference is how my clothes fit, so I'll just hold on to that til the stubborn scale retreats. TOM is looming, and while I was on plan this weekend, the eating times were off, so lots of reasons for unchanged weight. I should be able to get back to the normal routine this week, so hopefully next Monday I'll see a drop.

Wishing everyone an On Plan week with lots of losses :)

Dolly 08-15-2011 04:10 PM

Hello everyone! And belated Happy Birthday to you, Connie!

I think I have hit a bump in the road of my weight loss. I've been very careful to stay OP to get these last 9 pounds off and leveling off where I am now.

I have increased exercised so the scale went up to 161 on Saturday but was down to 159 today. I thought since my extremely long TOM is now over I would see my usual 2.5 to 3 pound drop. Didn't happen this time.

Oh well. I WI tomorrow so we'll see what another day brings.

Good luck to everyone this week.

JenB72 08-15-2011 04:15 PM

Connie - Happy Birthday!!!! 22 pounds lighter is definitely an accomplishment to be proud of. :)

Brandy - Have a great time on your vacation!!!! :swim:

Valarie - Welcome!!! Hope to see you hear often. As FIF said, you have to be a member of 3FC for 20 days (and they mean to the minute LOL) and have 20 legit posts. After that, you will be able to add a ticker. It's been a great motivation tool for me. Good luck!

Raven - Congrats on remaining on plan! That's awesome!!! And definitely stick with the plan, no matter how long the plateau. I lost a lot of inches during that time and the scales do eventually catch up.

Little Edie - I'm rooting for you! Even thought it's the last nine pounds, treat it like it's the first nine. I know you can do it!

I weighed in this morning and am doing great! 161.5 on their scales. That's 2.5 pounds since last Thursday. My scale actually read 161.0 so that means I've gotten rid of that 5 pound weight gain in 5 days. If only it were always that easy to drop 5. ;)

stone3973 08-15-2011 04:32 PM

Jen=you are doing great!!! Keep up the good work.

jakesmommy05 08-15-2011 09:07 PM

Hi all! Just re-enrolled at MRC today! Glad I found this group. Looking forward to the accountability!:carrot:

LetHerOut 08-15-2011 09:28 PM

I think I'm in the same place Raven is - plateau time. I knew one had to be coming. It doesn't help that while I stayed on plan as much as possible this weekend, my meal times were pretty far off and I didn't drink enough water. I'll go WI tomorrow...I just hope I've maintained and don't see a gain.

Welcome to our new members! This is a great place!

Little edie, you can do it! I love Jen's advice - treat these last 9 pounds like the firs 9 pounds!

New need advice

I just started two weeks ago. However I have been on vacation that entire time. I have managed to lose 11 lbs during that time but I have a lot of questions. We do not have a center in my home town so we only have the option of weighing in once a week? Does anyone weigh in more than that? If so do you find it more beneficial? I have never been a huge water drinker and I am learning to drink it but can you substitute crystal light or something with flavor? I am excited to have found support and guidance of people going through the same life changes. Paige

I normally only go to the center to weigh in once a week. For me the twice a week isn't feasible. I've never been a huge water drinker either and have found it not too bad to get around 80 oz a day. If you add anything to your water unfortunately it does not count toward your water count. I asked why not and was told because what you add has to be processed by your body. You want the plain water to rehydrate and nourish not take more energy to process. HTH

stone3973 08-16-2011 09:27 AM

I weigh 2 times a week...Tues. and Fri. I think it helps because when I weigh on Tues. and have a loss it makes me want to try to lose more by Friday.(Does that make since?) Or if I maintain I want to see the scales down on Friday. It's all a mind game with me and I have to talk to myself alot.

As for the water, I think it's hard for me. I have to set a schedule. Drink 32oz. by lunch, 24oz. during lunch and 32 more ounces by dinner. And it has to be plain water. Also I tell myself if you drink your water by an certain amount of time you can have a Sprite Zero. Sometimes if I drink other things than water I don't get my water in. You would think it would be easy during the summer with 100 degree weather but not for me.

Good Luck and awesome weight loss so far!!

JenB72 08-16-2011 09:43 AM

jakesmommy - :welcome2: Glad you found us too!

LetHerOut - Don't let the plateau get to you. Just remember, even though the scale may not show it, your clothes will show you that you are still losing. Hang in there!

PTSwim - Welcome to you too! I'm lucky enough that I can weigh in twice a week, but I have a center not too far from me. As for the water, FIF is absolutely correct. It has to be plain water to count. Also, my center recommends to take your weight, divide by two, and that's how many ounces you should be drinking of plain water. Talk about an incentive to stick with the plan. LOL The more weight you lose, the less water you have to drink.

Fluffy In Florida - Hope you are doing well!!! :)

Stone - As you said, it's a mind game. In fact, most of the program is a mind game. Once you get your mind in the right place, the body will definitely follow.

Scales are still moving in the right direction. If I can lose close to another 0.8 by tomorrow (our center's scales weigh to the half pound which is why I say "close"), I can sign the 40 pound board. :D

Fluffy in Florida 08-16-2011 10:18 AM

Thanks JenB...I'm doing better today. Just been a little down by the gain and not loss last week, not to mention the weird vibes from my main contact at the center. The food was getting to me too. My husband has been so supportive and eats everythign I do, so when I get home I hurry to cook dinner so he can eat early. He gets up real early so likes to eat at least a couple hours before he has to go to bed. He also said he doesn't want me to have to be in the kitchen so late preparing meals for the next day and having to cook dinner that he is now cooking dinner for me. :) I just open the cookbook up to the meal we are going to have and it's ready when I get home. I think I would be struggling even more if he wasn't so wonderful!

patzi 08-16-2011 08:43 PM

I had my maintenance weigh in today and gained one pound.. What I experimented with this week, and will not do again , is I made a trail mix, with oats, raisins, nuts.. I had 1/4 cup.. Glad I did not add the M & M's in there, that would have been another pound.. So will be careful from now to Friday when I weigh in.. I am now 4 pounds under goal, where I want to be 5 under.

I can't believe they were trying to sell me another supplement today when I was very clear with them last week, that I was not going to take any supplements for a
month to see if I can maintain without them. Of course I did not buy it.

Patzi

PTswim 08-16-2011 08:46 PM

Thanks for the info. My contact drives to Birmingham every week on Thursdays. She is great about calling but I sometimes don't have questions until later so it really helps that y'all have been there. Okay so did everyone exercise the first few weeks? Do they recommend a certain amount if time. Since I was out of town since I started I haven't been back to weigh in. We didn't discuss exercise when I signed up. I hope everyone had a good and successful day.

SailorsGirl 08-16-2011 10:14 PM

Hey ladies! I was wondering if the program still allows dressings from LiteHouse. When I went through it in 2006 they said we could LiteHouse in lieu of their dressings and I was wondering if that still held true. I know some of y'all talk about Walden Farms but that isn't carried in Hawaii and they won't ship out here. Thanks for any info!

Also, I'm 9 days in and I've already hit a plateau I think. I stayed the same weight for 2 days and then went up .5 this morning. Is it normal to do this so soon? I mean I lost 4.6 lbs in 9 days but I don't like being stuck. Ugh! Maybe I'm just being paranoid. I dunno. I keep reminding myself I didn't put the weight on overnight so it isn't going to come off overnight.

PTswim 08-16-2011 10:33 PM

I found the wishbone spritzer dressings to be good. Have you tried those? Also I am 11 days in and only 6 days being op the other five were preconditioning. I have found that if I don't get my water in or I eat later my weight fluctuates. I have added .5 and then taken off more the next day or none at all. I know that I can't get discouraged that this is a life change and I need to be in it for the long haul but sometimes it can be discouraging. Just know you are not the only one.

LetHerOut 08-16-2011 10:43 PM

The Lite House dressings haven't been mentioned by my center so I'm going to say they probably aren't allowed. I agree with Paige - the Wishbone Spritzers are good. There are also several dressing recipes in the cookbook, although I haven't tried any of them yet!

I was in a rotten mood when I WI today. I knew I'd see a gain because I feel bloated and constipated and just BLAH all over in my lower half. And then my consultant kept poking at me and prodding at how I feel about being up a pound and if I'm happy with my rate of weight loss because "it could be faster." I ended up getting teary before she finally backed off. She's a total sweetheart and I normally really like sitting down with her, but today was NOT the day!

I'm really getting bored with the food already, which does not bode well for my need to lose 76 more pounds! What do those of you who've been doing this for a while do to stave off the monotony?

tkdtara84 08-16-2011 11:02 PM

I think I'm finally out of my cheating mentality. It took me a week of falling off and getting back on, but I did perfectly yesterday and today, and I even went to a party tonight and avoided all the food. I didn't even feel that deprived. I started exercising yesterday, and I think that helped me a lot. If I'm putting a bunch of effort into working out, my eating tends to shape up too because I hate feeling that I'm "wasting" my efforts with exercise. I also found out that it's my TOM, so that might not have been helping the situation this past week.

I skipped WI today at the center. I just don't feel like seeing a gain or staying the same, and I'm almost positive that between the triple whammy of TOM, some off plan choices this weekend (we had guests), and my new workout routine, it will not be pretty. I'll still go for my WI on Friday, but by then I think I'll be more mentally prepared for whatever the scale might show, and maybe some of my water weight will be off by then, too.

LetHerOut-- You're right to be concerned with boredom. Our food choices are so limited that it's hard to get much variety, and I personally tend to make the same things over again because they're easy and convenient. After several months, though, if you get bored, cheating becomes much more appealing. When I did it last time, I noticed that I started to "cheat" with things like crackers instead of bread or those packages of tuna creations with the flavorings that I wasn't supposed to have. It didn't kill me, but this time instead of letting myself get to that point, I'm going to try buying a different type of meat (different fish, or a turkey breast instead of chicken, etc.) or looking for a new recipe and making a concerted effort to try at least one per week. It really does help. I've already started to do that with breakfast. I have the MRC cookies every now and again just for some variety.

SailorsGirl-- in the instructions I got for salad dressings, they do let you have dressings that have a certain number fat and carb grams or less per serving. I'll have to see if I can find the paper. They said that was almost impossible to find (i.e. no dressings like kraft light). However, if litehouse dressings are close and that's all you're able to find, I might be tempted to try it. Just try to do it in a controlled situation so you can tell if it slows your weight loss. Do you like oil and vinegar at all? I didn't think I did, but it's really not too bad. You can dress it up with spices, etc., too. If you google for vinaigrette recipes, there are some perfectly OP ones out there. I made a caesar-ish kind that's pretty decent. Just use your allotted oil amount for the day.

JenB72 08-16-2011 11:11 PM

I have to just face it. I don't like oatmeal (unless it's in cookies LOL). I tried the waffles from the MRC website. The gag relex kicked in after I ate 3/4 of it. This is why I like my foods plain. :( To make matters worse, I had to deal with the aftertaste for hours after that. I just shiver thinking about them. Ewwwww!!!! Sorry. I just had to get it out of my system.

ConnieInColorado 08-17-2011 12:05 PM

Hello Everyone and WELCOME to all the newbies!!

I tried numerous times yesterday to get on the site, but couldn't for some reason.

I wanted to say Thank You for all the Happy Birthday wishes. It was soooo freeing to be around so much (Mexican) food at my party and not be tempted by it all!

I went to WI this morning and she is the 2nd consultant recommend Phentatrim. I'm not sure if she looked at the note from the consultant at Saturdays WI or if she really believes I need to take it. What do you all think??!! I can clearly see that my metabolism has slowed down, but I am no longer working out with a trainer and for the past 10 days my workouts have been hit or miss. 80 bucks is ALOT for me. I quit my job in March! I told her that I want to get back on a regular workout schedule again (my kids start school on Friday) and then see what happens with my WI in a week. I just haven't read a lot of "evidence" that clearly shows that the Phentatrim really works.

Is there anything CHEAPER that anyone has tried??!!

As Always......I Appreciate You All!! ~ Connie~

stone3973 08-17-2011 01:42 PM

PTSwim=I do exercise but I have been told this diet works good with the sedimentary. I have always done some type of exercise and my consultants have not discouraged me from exercise but I stopped lifting weighs because it seemed to slow down the weight loss, so I only do cardio.

valarieg 08-17-2011 03:56 PM

Thank you Jen and Fluffy in FL for your response. Fluffy I will soon master the acronyms. I will work on increasing my Post. I look forward to checking in and reading all of the updates. They are very motivating and provide great guidance. My weigh in days are Monday and Friday. I am down a total of 5 pounds and feeling a little nervous about next weigh in. I needed something so bad I had a 1/2 of packet of soy crisp last night. I am on day 3 of the Meta Slim vegetarian plan and looking forward to day 5.

You are all doing well, keep up the good work.

coarkkayaker 08-17-2011 04:49 PM

Hello everyone! Looks like everyone is still doing amazing! I just returned from vacation and at WI this morning, I'm down one pound. As my vacation was a very physical one, I expected it to be more, but oh well. I stayed pretty much op while I was gone with one pizza slip.

I'm glad to be back in touch with all of you to help keep me motivated.

Connie - I haven't tried that product, but I have my doubts about it too.

Rzrbackcandi 08-17-2011 05:22 PM

Still in Florida

Hey gang! I've been reading the posts but just not posting. I've been enjoying time with the sweetest baby boy! So happy for my best friend and his wife. The baby will be 3 weeks old on Friday and he's such a little man. He loves his Aunt Candice (not really his aunt but that's what we have decided he's going to call me). The sweet thing will fuss & cry when his parents are changing his diaper. But when I do it.. not a peep! And I've been rocking him to sleep after his mom feeds him. He cracks a little smile before he goes off to la la land. It's so precious. After all this, I'm glad I get to go home to some piece and quiet :o Kids are special but they are even more special when you can leave them with their parents and visit every now & again.

Anyway - I've had my first cheats while I've been here. I'm not dwelling on it. I did it, and it's over. Not sure if I've gained any weight so we'll see when I WI Friday morning. I've been OP for most of my meals but a couple have had a few extras. Like I had 2 onion rings and 3 chips w/ salsa. I really haven't had a FULL meal off plan.. so I'm hoping it will balance out.

Last night, I went with my friend to the gym and walked 3 miles in an hour. That was the only hard exercising I've done. I went to the mall earlier in the week and walked it.

I fly back to Arkansas tomorrow.. sure going to miss that baby boy!

Welcome to all the newbies and congrats to all the "losers"!

Tamikl 08-17-2011 08:29 PM

Hi ladies :)

I also enjoy reading all of the posts! They motivate me very much!

I had my WI today, and lost nothing :( I guess a plateau...and "TOM" ......I am beginning to worry that the second half of the weightloss journey may be tougher?!? I am halfway there, though!!

One thing that has helped me with "boring" food on plan is buying the MRC cookbook. That has helped me alot...

I have taken Phentatrim, MRC-6, Enhancer, and Cortitrim...all of which I couldn't say for sure what they have done. I have lost 28inches and 26 lbs since mid May....because of those??? I don't know. I am thinking about finishing what I have up and trying the "All Day Weightloss" pack. Anyone on that one???

Happy weightloss everyone!
Tami

LetHerOut 08-17-2011 09:26 PM

I liked Phentratrim when I first started it because it was the first time I'd ever stopped thinking about food! I just bought a new bottle but really don't know if it's doing much for me anymore. I want to lose as much weight as a I can by October so I can try getting pregnant. I just can't make myself wait any longer! So I'll probably stop taking all the supplements except EFA toward the end of September.

Candi, I'm so impressed that this is the first time you've cheated! And they don't sound like very bad cheats!

Coarkkayaker, it sounds like you did pretty well for vacation. :)

I was going to WI tomorrow but I think I'll hold off until Friday so I can run errands on my lunch hour tomorrow. My home scale had some positive movement this morning so if I wait another day, I figure the MRC scale will look even better. :)

Food boredom: I have the MRC cookbook. It's been fantastic for breakfast ideas but I can't find a whole lot of easy dinner and lunch ideas I like.

stone3973 08-17-2011 09:57 PM

Tamikl==I did the All Day Weight Loss when I first started the program and I lost 60 pounds. The consultants suggested I try Phentatrim for one month. I think about food, especially around 3 in the afternoon. When this bottle is finished I am going back to "ADWL". But the supplements effect everyone different.

patzi 08-18-2011 06:29 AM

May I ask what the All Day Weight Loss Pack Is ?My center never mentioned this, and I have not seen it on their sheet for items they sell?

Thanks

It's some sort of thermogenic system. I can't take it because I'm on blood pressure medication. A friend of mine took it for a while, but it raised her BP, so she is now on medication and can no longer take the all day weight loss. It sounds like it works though!

valarieg 08-18-2011 09:03 AM

Hello Ladies, I did a no, no and got on my scale this morning. It was up a lb. My consultant keeps telling me to put the scale away and she is right because I am afraid to WI tomorrow. I take MRC, Essentials and total woman. I have stayed away from the other products due to the gelatin. Im hoping my vegetarian plan will work as well as the others. Are there any other vegetarian MRC members blogging?

JenB72 08-18-2011 09:38 AM

Good Morning! Weighed in yesterday and I lost a half pound on their scales since Monday. That "officially" put me at 161. This morning I was down to 160.6. Lowest in maybe 4 years. :)

We are now on vacation (hubby is driving at the moment). I brought my scales with me to keep me accountable. I've planned as much as I can, so here's hoping it goes well.

valarieg 08-18-2011 09:42 AM

:carrot: Congratulations JenB. Keep up the good work! So my scale addiction is not a bad thing?

Fluffy in Florida 08-18-2011 09:52 AM

I WI last night and was happy at the results this week. That darn pound I gained last week was gone plus 3 more for a total of 4 this week. I was extremely happy. Total so far is 8, not too shabby for 2 1/2 weeks.

Gratz JenB. I think traveling is going to be the worst for me and with hockey season right around the corner I'm going to be working extra hard to stay accountable.

Valarieg...If the scales are a distraction for you by all means put it away. However if you can turn it into a motivator I would use them. Good luck you can do it.

valarieg 08-18-2011 09:57 AM

Still getting the hang of this. Fluffy you are right, not shabby at all. Keep it up! :dizzy:
