Hello everyone! Thanks for the feedback on the nails. I wanted to make sure it was the program and not my imagination. lol I'm only taking the EFO's, multi and mineral vitamins, so I really think it's the protein. I've read gelatin is good for hair and nails and I think that is in the protein source in the HNS. Too bad it doesn't get rid of gray hair!!!
corkkayaker - you got good advice and I personally had a stall when I had too much sodium and started the protein bars. I'm leary of the bars now and don't eat the deli turkey. Rzrbackcandi - Have fun and no stressing. We all know you will be fine, especially with all the preparation you are doing. On another note, I'm curious what some of your names refer to. Mine is obviously my first and middle name. Back when I first used it in 95, there was already a victorialynn, so I added the 2, and have just stuck with it over the years. |

just joined MRC....
do i have to buy all the supplements and vitamins and shakes, etc. or can i just follow the food plan? congrats on your success!!!
|
tkdtara - I thought there would be some interesting explanations. :) I think the first place I used mine was some chat site in 95. Who knew we'd still be using them years later? I hope others share their stories.
bigdog - most centers require you to buy the HNS drinks at least. They help with the weight loss and ensure you loose fat, not muscle. They require a multi and essential fatty oil. Some want you to buy from them, others are fine if you want to buy them somewhere else. Most other supplements are optional and again some centers are more pushy about them then others. Personally, I buy the HNS drinks because they taste good and I can't find them cheaper if I buy 10 boxes for $100. I bought their multi vitamin, mineral vitamin and EFO's but as I run out, I'm going to get those at Costco. I also bought the super veggie but it's not what I expected. I expected it to taste like most green drinks with spiruiina, but it has a minty flavor I don't care for. |

Mine is boring. First name, First Initial of Last Name, Birth Year. Dang, I'm getting old! But I'm gonna look darn good when I hit 40 next year. :celebrate:

Thanks yall! I've never taken the carb or fat blocker.. what's the verdict?

cheese cake recipe for metabolic group
can someone post this recipe for me? i saw it last night and can't find it. it was a cheese cake recipe using vanilla protein powder and cottage cheese....
thks ,Peggy:) |

My center always says to take 2 15 minutes before you eat but be mindful as to what you are eating. Like don't go out and eat a pizza because it still takes 3 days for your body to process that out of your system. Hope this helps. @bigdog - I've never made it before but I know it's in the cookbook. Have you tried searching the Recipe thread? As for the supplements - you don't have to buy them from the center but some Vitamins & Supplements don't have the same ingredient levels as the ones at MRC. I always take my store bought bottles into the center and have them look at it to let me know. Like with my Krill, I get at Walgreens, I have to take 2 compared to just 1 from the center. Good Luck! @JenB - You will look Fantastic at Forty! I'm just 2 years behind you! |

My name is boring, I think we all get the fluffy reference and I live in FL lol. I am an online gamer and have names there but not of them seem to fit for this and would have seemed really out there.
@Jen...I turn 40 in Dec and want to look smokin then too. I look at my path up to this point and I didn't like it any more so I took the fork in the road to a healthier path. Here's to looking awesome at 40!! |

On a side note, as if turning 40 wasn't bad enough, for me it's happening on Friday the 13th! January, to be exact. I've already told hubby I'm taking that day off from work. ;) |
I'm actually one of those weirdos who like Friday the 13th ;) . You will have an awesome day.

Hello everyone--
I've been super busy this week interviewing for a job in one city, doing paperwork for it in another, and then another drive to the job site to tour the place only to find out yesterday that the hospital cancelled all their contracts with this nursing agency and I don't have the job after all. One of the consequences is all that driving has made my left (partially paralyzed) leg swell so much that I haven't exercised for two days. So I didn't even step on the scales today. I even went off plan last night because I was just mentally exhausted and didn't remember to thaw anything out before I left the house. I also didn't drink my water because of being on the road. But back OP now. Oh, and I met my goal. Except now I want to weigh 150 pounds. Congrats to all who lost and broke through some plateaus. I hope everyone else is hanging in there. It's a wonderful feeling when they finally break. |
I think I'll leave that ticker up for a few days. I really like the way it looks.
Be back later! |
Call me SLOW....I couldn't figure out why no one was posting for the last few days...........I forgot, it was a new month!! LOL!! I was checking the July blog. So now I have 4 or more pages to go back and read!
I love the idea of mini goals and thanks Jen for the info about MediQuick. I was avoiding the bars, so I think I will spend the 20 bucks on the shakes and give it a try. I have a BIG birthday coming up on the 14th of August. My friends are throwing me a huge party, so I want to be smokin' hot too! I was originally told that I would be at my goal weight by then, but that would be 15 lbs or more in 10 days! :-) Maybe this week would be a good time to try the Mediquick. Think I'll set my mini-goal for: 8 lbs = 139.5. Wow! I just scared myself when I typed in that number! My stomach is knotting up. I haven't seen the 30's in AGES!! Little Edie ~ Congrats on REACHING YOUR GOAL!! I can imagine how happy/relieved/excited you are. All of the hard work has paid off. What an inspiration you are! You go ahead and leave the ticker up as long as you want girl!! You deserve it. Good luck taking off the additional 9 if that's what you decide. I agree with Patzi, who suggests that extra breathing room. |
Gone for good refers to the fact that this time I want the weight GONE! I'm done with yo-yo dieting, which is why I have already donated my bigger clothes! 1128 is my husbands birthday, which I use at the end of a lot of my usernames because it's not taken! After I chose it, though, I wished I'd done my goal weight date of 9/17/11. Oh well!
I WI today, lost 1.5 lbs and am now 5 pounds from my goal! Actually filled out the stabilization action plan today-very nervous and excited about entering that phase. Little Edie-CONGRATULATIONS on meeting your goal! Can't wait to feel that sense of accomplishment! |

Jen - hope you don't mind I copied your monthly goal tracker...
Little Edie - way to go girl! Keep showing us the way. |
Thanks to all who explained their usernames.
Rzrbackcandi - I particularly wondered about yours. ;) JenB72 - mine is pretty simple also, but simple is good! Fluffy_in_Florida - makes me wonder what your name is? I know it's not Fluffy. lol little_eddie - Congratulations! Nice job! ConnieInColarado - Welcome to August! :) Goneforgood - I thought that might be what you were referring to. ;) Best wishes on stabilization. Great job making it there! coarkkayaker - never would have guess that in a million years! |
Candi - 70 lbs?! You Go Girl! Thanks for posting your pics. they are very inspiring!
Fluffy-in-Florida, Jocelyn/Sailors Girl and Big Dog~ Welcome! Brandy ~ You're off and running, there's no stopping you now! Ask them to do your measurements soon too....you'll be amazed. Shannon ~ So sorry about your Grandfather. During a loss like that, it would have been easy for you to over-eat and gain a ton of weight, but you did great. Goneforgood - 5 lbs from Goal?! You must be sooooo excited!! Congratulations.....It's almost "gone for good"!! I can't wait until the day I can post that! coarkkayaker ~ So WHERE in CO are you??!! I was at the same weight (and even up a lb!!) for a couple of weeks too and it suddenly is coming off. Read (or re-read) the info. in your packet about plateaus it will help. What the consultant told me is that our bodies are still working to lose the weight, it just doesn't show up sometimes. |
Brandy! ~ I just noticed that you & I are at the same current weight and our goal weight is the same......we'll have to cheer each other on!!
|
Want to say welcome to all the newbies. This is a fantastic forum and best of luck on your challenge. The diet does work.
Congrats to all those that lost and reached goal. I will not be able to do a maintenance weigh in today as I am out of town due to business.. Will report in on Tuesday. Sure don't like missing a weigh in, it keeps me on track and focused. My scale looks good, and hopefully will keep it there. Wishing you all a great day. Patzi |

Hello everyone...I am new to the site but not new to MRC. I have lost 60 plus pounds and feel great but I have about 30 more to go and I am stuck. I can't get myself back on track. I haven't gained any weight just up 2 down 2 you know the routine. What I have noticed is the complements of how great I look kinda hurt me. It has been a long time since I have worn a size 12 and it feels good. The counselors at the center ask "Wouldn't you like to be in a size 8?" but really 12 feels good. I would really like to finish what I started and my time is running out and I am questioning if I want to resign or try on my own? Thanks for the August thread, this is the first time I got my confidence up to post. Any encouragement is highly appreciated.
Stone is half the name of our home Stonesthrow because we live a stonesthrow from the river and 3973 is our house #. |
Welcome, stone! This is my second time doing MRC and I've done it on my own this time. I just order the HNS from dietdirect.com. I think you'll find plenty of encouragement here. I see people are posting their daily menus in another thread so you can do that and help hold yourself accountable that way.
You'll start to look forward to posting everyday. I'm so glad you joined. Candice- a belated congratulations to you. 70 pounds is awesome. Hope your mom is doing okay too. Goneforgood- you're almost there, girl. Keep going! I'm up .8 pounds today. I don't know why. Just going to keep OP and see what happens. Oh, and little edie is from my favorite musical Grey Gardens. Hope to perform it if it every comes here locally and my leg heals. |
Little Edie, congratulations! You are awesome for making goal!!
|
Junie, since I don't go to a center and my husband is not supportive there was no fanfare and I had some job issues to deal with.
It's starting to sink in. I feel healthy but not that much thinner. It's very odd. Look at your stats, though. Does it feel great to look in the mirror now? |
:)

Little Edie, you deserve to make your own celebration then! Give yourself a reward of some kind. Losing over 60 pounds is amazing and I hope you realize that.
I do know what you mean about not feeling thinner. I still think of myself as chunky! I know I look better though because I get so many compliments (unless everyone is stretching the truth!). I definitely see a difference 94 pounds ago in pictures, but not so much in the mirror. Plus, I don't even remember myself 94 pounds ago. It just seems like such a long time ago and I can't even imagine myself at that weight any longer. Hi Stone3973 and welcome to the forum! I know what you mean about the back and forth weight. I've been doing that the last few weeks. Just try to get your head back in the game. You know that is the biggest issue! I also felt "happy" with my weight about 30 pounds ago. I figured I could stop where I was and be happy. I am glad I didn't though. I am so much happier now. What do you mean the compliments you get hurt you? I am not sure I understand why. As for me, I weighed in today and lost only .6. At least the scale is going back down. That yellow menu was killer though! Today I started the blue menu so at least I am happy about that! If I can get through this weekend without any cheats I will be so proud of myself! My name has no special meaning. My name is June and some people call me Junie (not many people). I just didn't want to be recognized with only my first name in the beginning of my journey in case someone from my hometown would happen to be on the site. I guess that is silly, but I didn't know what to expect! I don't know how I got the 04- just picked a number! |
Hey Junie..
what I mean is the compliments make me feel skinny and I am comfortable with my size therefore why keep trying. |
Went to the fair today with the kiddos. I weighed in yesterday instead of today and was down a pound. I passed on the elephant ear and didn't touch the cotton candy (my weakness). I did have a piece of fried chicken and 2 jo joes. They were so delicious. I know bad for me but really good. That was all I ate at the fair. Back on program tonight for dinner. I did take the carb blocker, so we'll see what happens.
Hi Connie! That's so funny. I didn't notice until you made that comment. You go girl! |

My nick is a combination of two of my names. |
You can all probably guess what my name means. It refers to the skinnier version of me buried underneath all this fat!
Little edie, congrats on making goal!! That's so awesome! One of the things I love best about this forum is that there are people at the beginning and the end of this journey and every point in between. It's motivating to look at your ticker and know that it CAN be done! I WI yesterday and had lost 2 lbs, so 1.5 after putting that .5 back on last week. I'm averaging just a little over 3lbs a week for the weeks that I've actually been on program, including pre-conditioning (4 weeks out of 6 now). I'm starting to notice the loss in my clothes and I think in another 5lbs or so I'll be able to wear my actual wedding set. The larger sized replacement ring I've been wearing is getting loose enough that I actually worry about it falling off! Fluffy, you and I are the same starting weight and the same height. Nice to meet you. :-) Stone, I know exactly what you mean about the compliments hurting your progress. I lost about 30lbs several years ago and felt so great and kept hearing how fantastic I looked that I felt like I had actually accomplished everything I wanted. I didn't realize that losing the weight is only half the battle and I never learned to maintain it. I put it all back on and then more and more and more. Now I have 3 times as much to lose and THIS time I will maintain it. If I hit 180 and decide I'm happy there, I'll stop the program and go on stabilization and maintenance. That's one of the things that drew me to this program - the counselor tells me it's my program and I can run it any way I want. My view on a situation like yours is that it might be a good idea to take a break from losing, learn how to maintain, and get comfortable in your new skin. I mean, you've lost 65 pounds. That's a huge accomplishment! And if you've always been heavy (or perceived yourself that way), being 65 pounds smaller can take some getting used to. Whatever you do, I don't think you should quit or even try on your own. You may be stronger and more self-motivated than I am, but for me, that would be a recipe for disaster. If I were in your place and I quit the program, I'd end up hitting 300 within a year. |
Hi everyone! I'm back after my week at the fair, it was a great week. I made the decision to go OFF program all week, but I still made better decisions than I would have before MRC and am happy to report that I'm actually still down .5 lb. Maybe it was just luck, I don't know. I'm not going to really go hard-core OP until Sunday or Monday, and then put my full effort into it. It was kind of nice to have the little break--but I'm ready to get back to it!
Congrats on everyones losses! :) |
Nice to meet you too Letherout!!
I weighed in today after my week of preconditioning and I can't believe I got to sign my first board. 5 lbs lost. Now hopefully I keep this up and lose even more when I start Monday on my new menu. |
Junie04..
Congratulations on making Goal. I am so very very happy for you.. I am on maintenance, and if you need any help on stabilization, please feel free to ask,I would be more than glad to help you. Congratulations to all the losers and welcome to all the newbies. It is great to meet you all. Hope y'all have a wonderful weekend, and remember, think thin. Patzi |
Thanks for the feed back LET.HER.OUT(I like your name) I am afraid if I don't answer to someone I will gain it all back. I am tired of spending $$ on weight loss(I have done my share) but this program has worked the best for me and therefore I know it works. I just need to get my head back in the game and quit making excuses. One meal at a time. I know I can do this. Thanks everyone!

Hi Everyone,
First, fair warning....this is really long.... I've been following this Forum on and off since I first did MRC in 2009 and I must say that the current group is the most warm, friendly, upbeat and supportive group I've seen. Rather than just reading, it's time to jump in with all of you...so here's my story..... I've always been slightly overweight....usually 10-20lbs heavier than I'd like to be. I'm very active and genetically have quite a bit of muscle, especially in the legs, so I have looked stocky, never slender. I have been on and off diets since Jr. High, but losing weight was at such a slow pace...like 1/4-1/2 lb. per week that I just didn't stick to them. I can out=eat any exercise program and may actually be the only person to train and complete a marathon and not lose a pound. Anyway, I discovered MRC 2 years ago when a friend of mine with similar build to me....stocky....had this major transformation following MRC. I couln't believe it. So I gave it a try, and just like many of you know....it really works if you follow the plan! I lost 30lbs in 3 months. I discovered that I am carb. sensitive which explains why my other attempts at weight loss failed. Unfortunately, I got impatient with the program...must be part of the process because I've read many posts from others that have this happen towards the end... and never finished stabilization. I just touched on my goal, but added a few extra pounds as I began to enter back in to "normal" eating...aka my old patterns. So over the last 2 years I've been intending to go back to MRC plan and finish it off. Sometimes I'd actually have several days totally on plan, but would cheat, and one cheat led to another and then back to do over again and again and again. I kind of maintained, but would gain a couple of pounds settle at that weight with the intention of getting it all off again. I kept wondering why it was so hard to get on board with the program. The first time I was so determined to follow the program with no cheating and that is exactly what I did. Maybe it's because I knew it would only take 2 months once I got started. This Spring, I really began to stress eat alot and my clothes were getting way too tight, past the point of not fitting well, to not fitting at all. I developed a major muffin top and belly.:o:o I needed to either buy bigger sizes or lost this weight. So here I am...I'm doing MRC with this site as my "center". I've been on the program for 2 full weeks, made it through the blue and yellow menu and am on the green menu until I hit my goal. Then the real work will begin for me. Patzi, I've really enjoyed reading your posts regarding stabilization and maintenance. That's the missing piece for me and where I know I need to focus my energies. For now, I'm thrilled to see 8lbs lost in 2 weeks! I'm preparing for the first plateau, cause I know it's looming out there. My August goal is to hit the 130s. Thanks to any of you that read this lenthy post. The rest won't be this long, I promise. Wishing everyone a great weekend:hug: |
