Found the melba toast but up .5

Whoa,
So I went in today to MRC to get weighed since I am off tomorrow I wanted to have a nice three day weekend without having to run around except bringing the kids places--- Well---I go in, and I am up .5 lb. I was kind of upset- but she said not to worry. I guess you do no matter what. So I am going back Monday and will pray that the scale moves down. I have done nothing wrong so I am guessing maybe mother nature coming has something to do with it. I found Melba Toast at Publix, found garlic and bacon flavor :). Garlic I had for dinner with my pork and veggies, it was so good!
By the way when I was in the clinic I went ahead and got some creamies since I can start them tomorrow, bought the cookbook too- so tomorrow I am going to experiment a little bit and one more thing they had CHICKEN BOUILLON!!! She said it was going out as fast as it came in so I got 2 boxes.

Ladies,

This site just saves me everytime. I have not lost any weight in almost a week and was actually up a pound on Tuesday evening when I weighed...sort of discouraging. I still feel real committed and don't really want to quit but I am beginning to find more struggles with temptation to cheat. I didn't do it and I'm holding strong but I was really pretty bummed about the lack of weigh loss especially since I'm on week 3 and thought I'd still be dropping pretty well at this point. I have come to realize that I am fixating on that stupid scale. I think that is a formula for failure for me.

I need to keep it in perspective because I went in last saturday and they did my measurements...I had lost 12 inches over my whole body in 2 weeks. That is amazing and I need to stay focused on staying OP, getting some exercise worked into my schedule and stop worrying about the scale.

Do you like how I am sitting here giving myself a good talking to :)))?

I know how you feel Cindy. I've been doing MRC for 5 weeks now, and I find it harder and harder to resist temptation. Valentine's Day was the worst. I ate off plan and had a chocolate, which then turned into some ice cream and a taquito.. I felt really guilty, but I really want to get the weight off and I don't want to drop the program. But dang a bailey malt sounds really good on Sat night. But I'm trying to change my habits and no restaurants or bars for me, esp on the weekends. :dust:

Cindy,

I had the same problem you did - I was weighing every morning and the number I saw determined my mood for the entire day. It was especially difficult when I would plateau or gain (despite sticking to the program). I was crying everyday - even left the center in tears once saying I was done with the whole thing.

But then, I realized that despite the number, I WAS feeling smaller and looking better. So, I had my husband hide my scale at home, and I asked the people at the center to not tell me my weight unless it was a significant drop. They thought I was crazy because they want you to be faced with the reality of the number and keep on track. But what they didn't realize is that I was on track, and the reality of the number was making me want to quit altogether.

I brought this up at our "Connections" meeting (licensed therapist has group sessions once a week with us), and the therapist agreed that how we felt was much more important than what the scale said. Maybe taking a break from the NUMBER will make you a happier person and keep you motivated.

I have recently gotten to where I can weigh at the center and look (sometimes), but they always ask me first out of respect for my previous decision. And I have just bought a scale that measures ounces, so at least even if it is 2 oz, I can see a loss. :)

I know I rambled, but I hope this helps. I do know that it helped me! Good luck!!!

Don't worry to much about the number on the scale. As long as you are following the plan you are losing inches :) I had been stuck at the same weight for about a week and a half. It does get a little discouraging but I know all about plateaus and that I will break it....soon! I also have a scale that measures ouces and according to my home scale I am down about 8 oz. I will go WI in a couple of hours and see how their scales are, I will probably be the same:shrug: Drink more water...also, you might want to watch the pork....it has more sodium that the other meats.

Hi Cindy! Wow....12" in 2 weeks is awesome, you should be very proud of your accomplishment so far! :) When I did my 2 week measurements I was only down 8" but at my month I was down 31.7" so get ready for some big changes in the next two weeks!! Don't worry about the scale, you are still going to lose inches if you stick with the program! Good job and keep it up!

Dizzy?

Hey Jenn,
Congrat's on the huge weight loss! That is awesome and very quick results - I'm wondering, did the dizziness occur day 1 or 2 on meal plan? I know I felt terrible Saturday my day 1 after pre-conditioning. I felt very tired, light headed, very thirsty and sapped. I have been drinking about 85-100 oz of water as well which I increased as I my thirst increased as well. It got better Sunday and has completely gone away today. I am back to feeling good, thank goodness! The vits were making me nauseated so I started taking them slowly - I take 1 after my breakfast, wait a minute and take another etc. That helps and I just repeat this throghout the day and the nasuea has improved. Whenever I ate a salad or HNS I felt sick again but again, it all improved by Sunday. I would just keep up with the fluids, you might feel better after dinner with a little carb in you. I noticed your WL goal is 100 lbs and mine is the same so we can help encourage eachother on our journey. Good Luck and hope the dizzy's get better!
Karen

Just a thought, but maybe the dizzy spells are part of being in Ketosis...
I found this online and thought it was quite informative...

Understanding Ketosis Symptoms
You can actually develop ketosis symptoms that will let you know this is happening in your body. For a lot of people who begin a low-carb diet, this seems to happen three or four days into the process.

Some ketosis symptoms include:

Tiredness or fatigue
Headache
Feeling thirsty all the time
Bad breath
Metallic taste in the mouth
Weakness
Dizziness
Nausea or stomach ache
Sleep problems
Ketosis symptoms usually last for several days—up to a week in some people—until the body is used to burning fat instead of glucose. The levels of ketones in the body (which can be measure through a urine test) will go down, but that does not mean that you are no longer losing weight. It simply means that your body has found balance and is no longer producing excess ketones.

Sometimes low-carb dieters never seem to reach ketosis, or at least never have the urine test strips indicate excess ketones (the strip turns purple when there are excess ketones). This could be because exercising has used up the excess ketones or the urine is diluted from drinking a lot of water. This doesn't mean these people aren't burning fat, just that they aren't registering as technically being in ketosis.
Ketosis is a common part of low-carb dieting, but it isn't a particularly pleasant one. If you find yourself having trouble getting through this period, there are some things you can try that might ease the symptoms.

Snack regularly. Having a protein-rich snack like a piece of chicken may ease the headache and other symptoms.
Take vitamins. Especially with the lack of fruits and vegetables on a low-carb diet, it's vital to take a good vitamin and mineral supplement to keep your body in a healthy balance.
Try a protein shake. Protein shakes with amino acid supplements can also be helpful for reducing the symptoms of ketosis and easing this transition. Many different kinds of amino drinks are available and often are marketed to body builders.
The most important thing to remember is that the feeling of ketosis symptoms is temporary and will pass within a week or so. Try to focus on the fact that this less-than-perfect feeling is just a sign that you are burning fat and well on your way to losing weight.

Hi I am a newbie! I just started with MRC today. I was so excited to be on a plan again. I was meeting with a dietician 2 years ago and lost 35lbs. I have since gained it back plus some! I was bummed when they told me I needed doctors approval because I have an ulcer which I am on medication for. BOOO! I will get that on monday and get off and running. I bought the MRC-6 and the Phentratrim. Hope this works.

CindyLooHoo 02-28-2009 12:07 AM

Thank you all for the great encouragement! You have refueled me. I have substituted this website chat for snacking in the evening. Much less fattening and much more satisfying long term. :)))

Thanks again...wish me luck because I go to wi tomorrow (saturday) morning! I'd love to see a loss but am not going to let it change my eating even if I didn't.

Cindy

Thank you

Just wanted to thank you all for your support and encouragement. Thanks Laura for posting about the ketosis. It is funny cause I went in on Thursday and was up .5lb, my stick was a light pink- which is good. I am happy I got to start using the creamy supplements yesterday, of course just one a day. I made chili last night, added my veggies to it, and had it with my melba toast, it was SUPER AWESOME! I really enjoyed it. I am going to try to find some other recipes in the book to experiment with so that I can have a better variety. I will go weigh in on Monday and post my good news to you all :) I am staying positive!!!!:D

Okay, so I don't know what is going on, but I cheated again this week-end. I just feel so tired of doing the diet and tired of saying "No thanks" to everything. I should be happy, as I hit the 30 pound mark last week, but all I can think about is EATING! Has anyone else gone through this?

vikaz 03-02-2009 07:24 PM

hungry

Okay, I know I'm only on day 3, and I have invested 800 dollars already, but I am curious if it gets easier. I'm already tired of the diet. I feel like I'm just so hungry! Also, I ALREADY miss food. I love to eat, as I'm sure everybody else does. Also, I'm having trouble with the supplements. I don't like the taste of a lot of them. I really want to lose weight.
Do you have to eat the supplements to lose the weight? Has anyone else felt this way?? Does it pass?
Please - give me some pearls of wisdom.:(

I finally got doctor approval today so I will get my meal plan on friday I guess. I attend the food class on friday so hopefully this will work out. Any idea how we make a signature on our posts?

Karen1234 03-02-2009 07:49 PM

This too shall pass

Hi,
Just want to let you know I am on Day 10 and had similar thoughts at day 3. So, just know some of this will pass, some you will just learn to work around. As for the hunger, it gets better - plan meals ahead of time so you don't go past the usual lunch/dinner hr etc., take in an extra HNS or drink some water if hungry, it does helps. Next, you will get tired of the diet so get creative, read the recipe ideas and get the cook book. Start experimenting. Try different supplements - the best is the strawberrybanana gelatin - I make an entire box in advance in individual servings and store in fridge so it is ready anytime I have a craving or need a quick one to go. Also, try the pink lemonade, lemonade, wildberry passion - great ones. Can try mixing together orange with these too for nice new combo. I've been told that the supplements help you lose faster, help with skin sag etc.

Hope this helps, Karen
