I tried the spaghetti squash for dinner with homemade meatballs and WF marinara. It turned out pretty well. I posted about that in the What's for Lean and Green thread.

I went to my dad's today and he kind of raised his eyebrows at my chili for lunch. On the other hand, he sat there and told me if he weighed less he'd probably not have to take his Type 2 Diabetes meds.

I'm sorry, Flo. Welcome to Onederland.

Carol... You're giving me strength. In roughly two months you've lost 33 pounds. If I can do something close to that, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. :)

Brooke...I've wondered that, too. I've also seen that the weight loss does slow down some from posts on myMedifast and SuccessinMotion. Still, it seems faster than some other weight loss programs I've tried.

Andrea...I plan on transitioning back to WW eventually. I liked the freedom of the points system and I think it will be helpful for maintaining weight loss. I miss those 35 points a week. That's what I used to use for weekend eating out. :)

borders5kids 01-21-2008 08:40 PM

Hi Brooke,

Since there was no mail today:-( I am hoping that my package comes tomorrow. I am really getting anxious but I keep reading the posts so I can see what I can and can not do and get some ideas for spicing up the foods.

borders5kids 01-21-2008 08:45 PM

WOW Carol...that was a great weigh lost in a little over two months. That shows me that I can do it!!! I would love to lost at least 50 lbs by June. That is my short term goal. My husband and I are going away for Father's Day and my birthday and I would love to surprise him with a little something something...Then I would like to lose the last 10-20 lbs by August/September. I am commited to working the plan.

Floprieto 01-21-2008 09:26 PM

Hey ladies,

Things are stilk going good my side of this world... Just havin some love life issues... I guess i am at a crossroad and I need to do something.... I just can't wrap around to what I should do... I haven't cheated off the diet though... thought about it but ... it was not worth it...

Borders: My goal is to loose 60 pounds by June also (my daughter's second Bday)! We can do this together and keep each other accountable!!! When i go to my Medifast center in TX they told me that the average weight loss is about 3 pounds a week so... It is way feasible ;)

Carol: Thanks girl! I was wondering if you could post your recipe for the food that you take on the road... I can't quite remember what the name in English for it is... it is not cupcakes but kind of look like it... Sorry i am having a french moment ;)

Kim: Thanks for the welcome ;) I am gonna check your recipe... I have a spaghetti squash in the fridge and do not know what to do with it...

Well anyway the diet is still going strong... just working on my personal life... sometime i wish someone could make the decisions for me...

michelle127 01-21-2008 09:32 PM

Good evening all.

Dearest Flo,
Oatmeal pancakes - yuck.

I went to see Cloverfield last night. Everyone's saying really rotten things about it, but I loved it! However, I also LOVE "B" movies. Ya know, those giant fly movies on the Sci Fi channel. Some say I have bad taste - I say I'm just easily satisfied. I walked right past the popcorn and didn't flinch that much. (I was able to wear a shirt, 1X, that I haven't been able to wear in 2 years!!)

Then today I had to drive 2 and a half hours to drop off my kiddo and 2 and a half hours back. My girls wanted fast food, still no problem. Having to whizz every 20 minutes - huge problem!!

Great job everyone!

michelle127 01-21-2008 09:35 PM

Flo,
Poor girl....I hope everything works out for you. :grouphug: Let us know if we can help.

brookelizabeth 01-21-2008 09:38 PM

50 by June would be great!!

Ok, I read to mix the cr of bocc with 3 oz of water and put it in the microwave. Maybe I did something wrong but it was nasty. It looked like baked slime! I think I'd rather have it with broccoli added and maybe a few seasonings.

Chai, tried that and took it up to my daughter to drink. She only had 3 MF today and it's 8:30pm.

Borders, Lisa right? The hardest part is knowing what to eat and making sure I eat enough. I am at that scared to eat stage, not knowing. You could print the lists of what you can have from the MF site and put it somewhere to help. It is actually not easy to get 5 in while working right now. That's a good thing!

Does anyone know if it's a problem to have hot drinks instead of the shakes? They are interchangeable, correct? I might want to do 1 bar, 2 shakes and 2 cappuccinos. Since the hot is less calories that the shakes, wouldn't that offset the xtra in the bar?

Day 2 done, I am going to bed with my cold. I have a heated blanket, I don't know how I survived before. It's 8 degrees outside, 68 in the house but it's still cold.

camorgana 01-21-2008 10:09 PM

Muffins

Hi, Flo!
Muffins. :chef:
That's what I make to travel with. And I'll be eating several this weekend on the way to Germany. Below is the basic recipe that I've been adapting. I took it straight off the MF site. I do prefer to make mini-muffins. I find that if I use 5 packets of oatmeal--that I end up with two dozens mini muffins. That's a nice amount of goodies to take up the day. Then you can just add your lean and green. If you use an egg--you can take it off your "lean."

In case anyone needs to be told, these are not the best muffins of all time--but what do you expect we are trying to lose weight? You can't beat their convenience-factor. I freeze them in a zipper bag right after I cook them and they stay moist as they thaw.

COWGIRL STARTER-MUFFIN RECIPE
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.....
This recipe is for 12 muffins/6 mf meals (not mini-muffins)
• 4 packets oatmeal
• 2 packets scrambled eggs
• 6 tblspn flax seed
Splenda - you decide how much...I use several tbsp.
• 8 packets True Lemon (powdered lemon - o carbs - found in most supermarkets or online) It's the flavor-equivalent of 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice...but lemon juice won't work here.
• salt (or not)
• 1 tbsp poppy seeds
• 1 tsp. baking powder
• 2 tsp. any flavor extract(s)
• 1/2 cup Torani (or other) sugar-free syrup
• 1 cup water

Put EVERYTHING in the bowl at once...beat it with electric beater at high for around 2 minutes...and get 12 HUGE muffins. 2 per meal. MIX WELL. This mixture will fizz up as the chemicals in the lemon and baking soda and syrup mix...makes for a higher volume with oxygen bubbles in the mix...

Spray muffin tins with Crisco fat free spray...and spoon mix equally into 12 tins.

Tip - stick your two fingers (index and tallest) into water, then lightly pat each muffin so that they are all flat on top. Keep wetting your fingers as you need to. The mix should end up being/looking slightly "wet" on top.

Then stick in the oven and do not touch them until the timer buzzes after 45 minutes. Turn the pans upside down and pop them out, let the muffins cool upside down on the counter...and WAY BEFORE YOU EAT THEM - put them into a plastic bag in the fridge for at least 30-45 minutes.

Keeping them refrigerated and cold will keep them moist.

Suggested Versions:

Almond and Vanilla Extract + Almond SF syrup (best); Maple and Vanilla Extract + cinnamon + Irish Cream SF syrup; Maple and Vanilla Extract + Pumpkin Pie Spice _ Caramel or Hazelnut SF syrup; vanilla extract + ginger + cinnamon + Almond Roca SF syrup.

1 blueberry oatmeal + 1 peach oatmeal + 1 apple cinnamon oatmeal + 1 maple brn sugar oatmeal.

By the way, this is in no way a comparison with the recent recipe using vinegar and baking soda...try everything...eat what works.

Gee, I hope I haven't been entirely naughty by copying/pasting this. There are other recipes there for more muffins and beyond...way beyond. Please pay you respects to the MF website recipe forum.:p

Carol: I found the word i was looking for! M_U_F_F_I_N_S!!!

Thanks for answering so fast... I am glad you all understood what i was trying to say!!!

Ok ladies, here is my personal problem... any advice would be great!

I have been dating this man for about 3 months. We met on a friday and never left each other after that. He spends every night at my house even though he has his own appartment. We work on different shift so we barely see each other and he works often on the week end to make some extra cash... He is good to me and to my child, he painted my house, goes to IKEA with me... he is pretty much willing to do whatever to make me happy... EXCEPT participates financially. He hasn't helped me pay any of the house bills or even grocery. If his son stays with us for the week end and we go to McDonald, I still flip the bill for everyone! I am a teacher and he works in a factory but when it is all said and done, we make about the same... I have a 18 month old and i do not get child support... so btw day care, the mortgage, health insurance, medifast and the utilities I barely break even... most months i don't... I already talked to him about the fact that we don't spend enough time together and the money issue... but he says that since he still has an appartment and he only come to see me (which i disagree because he stays at my house when i go to work since he does not have to be at work until 3:30 pm), it does not need to give me money.... Even though he eats most of my child's treats and that I used to cook 4 square meals for him... I stopped a few weeks ago because i got tired of all that extra work with barely a thank you and no financial help... He is the first father figure in my daughter's life since her real father decided he wasn't ready to be a dad when i was 6 month pregnant...
All in all, I am not happy... I mean that i am not in love... I see him more as a friend than anything else... I am just frustrated with everything: the no money, no time... I didn't get any gift from him on Christmas... even though he asked me to spend $150 for his gift... He did not even have something for my child... he got her a little trycile at the second hand baby store the day after Christmas... when we go places, I always drive... he never offers to put gas in my car... The only time he put gas was when he took me to AK to meet his parents... that's it...

Any advice on what i should do??? Please?

tjjsmom 01-21-2008 10:38 PM

Thank you ladies so much for the encouragement. Today was much better. The eggs were better than I expected. The beef stew and the chocolate pudding were ok. The woman who got me started with MF told me that she doesn't dare eat anything without her "spices". She won't tell me what her mixture is but she is going to bring some in for me on Wednesday. I will try the soaking hope it works...lol.

Congratulaions on everyones weightloss you all have me motivated.

Fabulous50Texas 01-21-2008 10:57 PM

You deserve better, Flo,
you know it deep in your soul, but it is hard to face.
Part with him while you can still do it amicably.
Tell him that you could still be friends. ( I always hated that phrase.)

That's my plan, too! Right now I'm only going to WW for emotional support. I haven't told my leader or the weigh in gals that I'm eating MF. I don't think they really care what I'm eating. I did figure up some of the points values for the MF foods. If I were following WW I would be way under the points range. I miss having the 35 points/wk. too. If I had know anything about carbs I might have been able to figure out that I was eating way too many of them! If you were to look at my food journal (pre MF) you would see lots of bread, bagels, etc. This program is helping me to change my eating habits and become more aware of food as sustenance instead of food as an 'answer to something'. That reminds me of a quote I read once, "If hunger is not the problem, food is not the answer." I love that!

Hope2BLosing 01-22-2008 01:36 AM

Just a quick post before I head to bed....

Flo- CONGRATS on ONEderland!!! YOu go girl!!!! Second...you know what to do, you know what advice you'd give to a girlfriend in the same situation.

MF should arrive tomorrow. I'm all geared up for starting on Wed. maybe Thurs.

brookelizabeth 01-22-2008 08:17 AM

Flo, it sounds like he is not making your life any easier and that would be the only reason to keep a "friend" around. If I had someone staying at my house that helped with childcare, laundry, cooking, cleaning then it might be worth the expense but you are getting zero benefit and he is getting all of the benefits. What would you tell you sister or friend to do??

How does onederland feel??? Keep it up! Can you imagine what 175 will feel like??? Amazing!

Now, about the cr of brocc soup, yuck. Any ideas?? And, the chai? I thought about mixing the hot chocoalte and chai together to see if that improves the chai. Anyone know if you can send back the free week stuff for different, I am guessing not.

Have a great MF ing day everyone!

Flo, that sounds great. I am waiting for my kit to come. Hopefully, it will be here today. I am going to the health food store to see if I can get some flavor drops and stuff today. I am also going to get my meats and veggies for the L& G meals just in case it comes today. I can start.

borders5kids 01-22-2008 09:32 AM

Flo, let go of that situation now while you can. You are reaping no benefits being in a "relationship" with this guy. Do what you have to do. Be friends with him and let him still actively participate with your daughter if they have developed a bond so to speak but that is it.

borders5kids 01-22-2008 09:45 AM

Okay...I went to the Capella website and just ordered some drops. Not sure who suggested it but thanks for the link.

Floprieto 01-22-2008 10:31 AM

Thank you ladies! This is how i have been feeling... I just needed some reinforcement and some unbiased opinion.... Sometime it is hard to make up your mind when you are directly involved in it... Thanks for listening and advising me!!!
I will break off the news to him this week end as i will have time to really talk to him and help him pack all his stuff...

On another note, I had smoked salmon last night... And even though i loved eating it, i would not recommend it to anyone trying to lose weight because of the amount of fat and all that salt... I feel all bloated today!!! I read on a post on the mymedifast website that you could have that... but i think they were wrong!!!

borders5kids 01-22-2008 05:18 PM

MY order came!!!!!

MY 2 week order came. I am sooooo excited as tomorrow is the first day of the rest of my life literally! I am going to look through everything when the kiddos go to bed or at least the toddler. I need to look through the recipes so I don't get bored.

50 lb weigh lost here I come!!!! WATCH OUT NEW ME!!!:carrot:

brookelizabeth 01-22-2008 06:53 PM

I even like the blueberry oatmeal! It is filling, that is good!!

Good luck Borders, don't forget to get it all in!

brookelizabeth 01-22-2008 06:56 PM

PS Flo, good luck. Maybe you should have a friend there??

Chelle5 01-22-2008 07:36 PM

Flo, you Know what to do. Don't let anyone stand in the way of your happiness. Sounds like you know you need to move on to better things. I'm here for ya:hug:

Hope2BLosing 01-22-2008 08:20 PM

My order arrived!! Woohoo!! I can't remember who suggested packing a bag for each day, but that makes it soooo less overwhelming!!! THANK YOU!!!! I have bags packed through Saturday. WIsh me luck ladies!

I don't know about the smoked salmon, but I eat grilled salmon several times a week and I don't think it's slowed me down. I prefer the salmon to chicken when eating out because restaurant chicken is usually so dry.

michelle127 01-22-2008 09:33 PM

Hello all,
Oh Flo sweetie, patience is not a virtue sometimes. I agree with everyone else.... You've been too nice and too patient.

Good news borders and Hope!! Remember, your tastes will adjust. I actually said YUM when I ate my oatmeal this morning. Weird!

I've been struggling today with major cravings. My husband and I take turns cooking and I finally figured out that my cravings coincide with my days to cook. That's good information to have.

Does anyone know how to cook Portobella Mushrooms? I tried to cook them in a frying pan with a dash of Pam, but they didn't taste very good...

Have a good Wednesday MFers!

Floprieto 01-22-2008 10:27 PM

Thank you ladies for all your advices... I really appreciate them!

I just moved to fort worth in July so i haven't met a lot of people yet... just maybe 2 or 3 women and I am kind of scared to tell them about my personal problems because i do not want them to judge me... I think i do not know them enough to tell them about my problems!

I am still on plan... even though tonight i almost gave in to temptations... I looked at the forbidden item and almost picked it up... twice! I was wondering the reason of my sudden urge... I haven't had any cravings in almost three weeks... I thought maybe it is because of my love life situation... But NO... My bad time of the month just started... So now i know why I was craving bad fatty food! LOL

Tonight I was very hungry so i cooked me some Tofu.... Scrambled Tofu! It was delicious and very filling... I never really liked tofu before but... I wanted to try something new... You all should try that recipe if you are ever extremely hungry! I promise this will fill you up! I feel like my belly is about to explode! lol

Here is the recipe i found on line:
http://www.theppk.com/recipes/dbreci...p?RecipeID=110

Give it a shot! I added 2 TBS of FF sour cream and 2 TBS of salsa and a sprinkle of 2% cheddar cheese! VERY FILLING!!!

Andiemom 01-23-2008 01:55 AM

Borders & Hope2BLosing: Glad to hear your orders arrived. You're gonna do great!

Flo: The recipe you posted tonight sounds yummy! I am thinking about you and your BF situation. I hope you are able to make the right decision for you...whatever that is.

Everybody: You ladies keep me going and believing I can do this! :thanks:

Goodnight!

Fabulous50Texas 01-23-2008 08:09 AM

Oh Flo,
I will be the first to tell you how disastrous my first marriage was, and even tho it hurt to leave, and start all over with not a salt shaker to my name, and all the hateful things he said to me, I knew that on the other side of the hill, I was doing what was best for me.
He was abusive and a alcoholic and I knew that if I stayed with him, my spirit would have died and I would have been an empty shell.
While in the throes of the awful divorce, I met my current husband, who didn't care about any of that and loved me from the instant he saw me, all 235 pounds of me. We have been together for 12 years now. If you had told me that 2 years after the divorce I would be married again, I would have said no way! Remember there is hope, and you don't need a man to complete your life, complete your own life by yourself and things will come along naturally.
The headquarters of my employer is in Fort Worth and have been there many times, and the Cowboys are so cute there!
Chin up,
Fab

brookelizabeth 01-23-2008 08:18 AM

I love the eggs! I was so afraid to try them!! And the oatmeal is fine, filling.

Good luck Borders and Hope!

I am down 3.6 lbs in 4 day. The first weeks are great, it will slow down but still, this is fun. I am about to hit the 220's for the first time in 8 years. I can imagine onederland now!!

Have a good MF ing Wednesday everyone!

Floprieto 01-23-2008 09:51 AM

Great job!

Great job Brooke! Keep going! U will have an amazing loss at the end of the week ;) Hurry up to join me in the Onederland! I saved a spot for you ;)

brookelizabeth 01-23-2008 12:05 PM

Posting quick from work...

Anyone know how much crystal light I can have? I drink diet coke, all day long. So, for me to add water, it has to have something in it. I have CL at work with me but I am afraid to drink too much of it.

Thanks!

Floprieto 01-23-2008 12:10 PM

I think u can have one drink with CL but i think they say it has to be after you have already had all your water!!! Sorry ;)

Chelle5 01-23-2008 02:30 PM

day 2

Hi all :) Im into day #2. I'm doing ok. I'm having a little trouble with the increased water amt. It's hard to drink so much and my bladder is doing overtime.
I like the eggs and the shakes. Will try the soup today also.

Floprieto 01-23-2008 03:39 PM

I am glad to hear that you are doing Good Chelle! The first few days are the hardest, then you will be on a routine and it will be real easy!!! Welcome to the MF family!

Hope2BLosing 01-23-2008 06:10 PM

I have almost survived day one!!! I started my day off with an Orange Cream shake, I added about a cup of ice to it. OMG, it tasted EXACTLY like a 50/50 bar! I then had my Oatmeal Raisin bar, definitely NOT my favorite, but mostly because of the texture of it. I then had Chicken Noodle soup for lunch....not bad, but a little "hard". I even presoaked it for about an hour. Any advice??? Right now I'm sipping on my Strawberry Cream Shake blended with ice. I think I drank 4 bottles of water before 10 am. My students were laughing at me because I had to pee soooooo bad!!! I was not hungry at all today, however I have been really "ditsy". I'm NOT a ditsy person normally but between the stress of report cards & MF & life....I'm not my usual self. I realized at about 2:30 today that I've had NOOOO caffeine today!!!!

Hope2BLosing 01-23-2008 06:43 PM

I was just talking to my husband about my day and how easy it was. I said, even you could do it! He replied, "I can't afford it and neither can you." I am one to never complain about my weight, but I looked at him and said, "You're right, I can't afford to be fat forever." He looked at me stunned and said, "I get what you are saying and good for you!!"

Heehee!!!

magnolia blossom 01-23-2008 08:10 PM

Hope: You know, when I think about all the money I spent on low-fat/low-cal foods before, I'm probably saving money.

Brooke: I buy flavored bottled water like DaSani or Aquafina or Nestle Pure Life and keep it in my refrigerator at work. I'm not a water drinker by any means. At home I drink decaf iced tea made with Splenda. I have lost 12.8 pounds in 17 days and have not had one drink of plain unflavored water. I just don't like it. What I have been thinking about is buying that water filter with flavoring that you put on the faucet - I think it's Pur. It'll definitely save me money and be better for the environment because I'm not using all those plastic bottles. I think what they're afraid of is that you'll use so much artificial sweeteners that it'll throw you out of ketosis. I've been testing my ketones every morning and I'm consistently in the small range - even with my tea and flavored waters with Splenda. I drink 2-3 bottles of the flavored water at school, then when I get home I drink tea until I go to bed. No kidding. Is it the healthiest thing for me? Probably not...but it is what it is...If I drink too much water, my brain gets fuzzy and I get a headache.

michelle127 01-23-2008 08:55 PM

Hope,
Make your soup in the morning and store it in the fridge until lunch.

I'm getting sick - I can feel it. I only drank about 90 ounces of water, which is low for me. I'm exhausted.

Be good chicks,

Floprieto 01-23-2008 09:10 PM

magnolia: U lost 13 pounds in 17 days?!? I am SO jealous!!! I am almost done with week 3 and i do not think i have lost that much weight... WOA!!! Good for you Girl!!!

Michelle: Sorry to hear that! Hope you feel better in the morning!

Hope to be losing: U go Ms. Lady! That was an excellent come-back at your husband! You should be proud of yourself for making it through day 1... these are the hardest days... After a week or two you are on auto-pilot so it does get WAY easier ;)

brookelizabeth 01-23-2008 11:23 PM

Question! For the first 3 days I didn't notice a bad taste in my mouth but on day 4 I do. Is that ketosis? It's not metal. I like diet coke but if I had to say what it was like I'd say it must be the diet sugar taste that some people hate.

Thanks!

Feel better Michelle. I am getting over a cold and it helped, I was not hungry
the first 4 days.

Thanks Flo!

I am trying a recipe I found using AC oatmal, vanilla pudding, cinnamon, baking powder. I'll let you know. I need to find something for my college daughter to take with her to campus. She is hanging in but it's harder for her since she's a vegetarian and won't eat tofu or fake meat.
